Allow Us to Tell You a Tale~
Mare's Owner: techabyte
Mare's Name: Xalha
Mare's Temper: Dexterous

Stallion's Owner: Kitsune Mistress Nyoko
Stallion's Name: Tweet
Stallion's Temper: Dimwitted

Prompt Response:
xxxxx The pair always drew such attention; so many staring eyes trying to figure out just what was going on between the little archaeornis and the raptor. And because of this, they got a crowd. A group of young things asking them just what was going on with the pair. Xalha laughed, thought it was a funny question, and Tweet merely stared at all the younglings.
xxxxx “You want to know how we met, right? That’s such an interesting question, isn’t it, Tweet?”
xxxxx “Yup! Wait… No. I know how we met!”
xxxxx Xalha sighed, shaking her head at the smaller dinosaur, before she flicked the tip of her tail, and let her bright eyes lock down on the small creatures. Then she began to tell the tale of how the little blue stallion met the large purple and pink mare.
xxxxx Many years ago, baskets were born to the archaernis pack. They had three baskets, all beautiful and woven and amazing. And they adored the small things. They loved them to bits. One day, they came back home after going for a hunt for food, to find that there were four baskets! The surprise forth one, a little larger than the other three, confused the pair for the briefest of moments. And then they laughed, realizing that perhaps they had just miscounted all along.
xxxxx “Silly of them, right?” Xahla said with a coo, laughing lightly.
xxxxx It was near winter when they met. Young Tweet was the first to emerge from his basket, flashing feathers and claws and squawking his lungs out. The other two, Dali and Mimo emerged at nearly the same time. And they joined their brother in making small noises for food. It was Xahla who came last, but she didn’t squawk. Didn’t flash feathers or claws. She laid there in confusion, before barking out noises oh so different from her siblings. Tweet nodded his head toward the raptor.
xxxxx “She was the oddball, that’s for sure!” The statement earned him a soft thwap by Xahla’s tail.
xxxxx They grew up together, learning to hunt as the archaernis do and traveling around the lands. They became very close. But it was obvious, almost immediately, that Xahla was not the same species as her family. She knew she was different, and it upset her greatly as a young creature. One night, her brother found her crying into her tail feathers, wanting to hide from the world because, well, she didn’t fit in. Tweet consoled her, telling her that no matter what happened, or who came around, that they were brother and sister and he would always love her. That he’d always be there for her. They were inseparable ever since.
xxxxx Xahla paused, glancing down at Tweet as her face fell. “Then the great fire happened… we got separated from Mom and Dad, and Dali and Mimo. We don’t even know if they’re alive…”
xxxxx Tweet puffed up his feathers, making himself appear weird as a result. “But! We are happy. Because we get to spend so much time together, right? And they could be alive, we’ll find them, Xahla. No reason to be so upset!”
xxxxx The raptor smiled, before nodding her head and dipped down to nuzzle at her brothers neck gently, tail swaying to the side beside her, before curling around her front claws. “Of course, Tweet. We get to go on all sorts of adventures. It’s fun!”
xxxxx The babies blinked up at them. And slowly, each one began to ask question after question. About their adventures and what happened during the fire, after it? Everything. They wanted to know everything. And it made the pair laugh, because they had all night to tell each and every adventure they had together. And would have together. They were siblings, even if they looked oh so odd.

Allow Us to Tell You a Tale~
Mare's Owner: AstoriaFallen
Mare's Name: Pantheras
Mare's Temper: Humored

Stallion's Owner: magnadearel
Stallion's Name: Avirhynchobator
Stallion's Temper: Skittish

Prompt Response:

Thera and Avi weren't the strangest pair out there, but they were a unique pair non-the-less. It was a marvel to most that she hadn't eaten him but there was a very good reason and an even more humorous tale as to why that was. Not only had he saved her life, but she had grown quite fond of him and the two had become a couple of sorts. It was mostly out of necessity and partially out of feelings, but no one needed to know that.

There came a day when the duo came across a peculiar fellow that was curious as to why she had a patch on her eye and why she hadn't eaten the feathered stallion that followed close beside her.

Thera looked at the stranger with her one good eye for a moment and shared a toothy smirk and a low thrum in her throat. "Are you sure you wish to know the answer to that?" She said looking down at Avi for a moment to see if he wished to start the story off. "Would you like to tell him my pet?"

Avi wasn’t the bravest bird. It wasn’t hard to see why when nearly everything was bigger than him and wanted to eat him. He hovered a safe distance as Thera met the strange raptor. Naturally he kept watch for any more trying to close in behind them. When his mare chuckled he glanced back toward them. Slowly he moved closer and ruffled his feathers before speaking softly.

“Thera was feeding,” his eyes glanced towards her. He had been darting in to steal scraps as they fell out of reach. Many times he’d followed her and fed from her kills.

She knew he was nervous by nature and didn't blame him, he was quite the yummy looking appetizer, but he was hers and no one else would have him. "..When a much larger and nastier creature than myself attacked me and got a good grip of my face in their jaw. Which is when I sadly lost the use of my left eye.” She said frowning for a second, “I truly thought I was a goner at this point and kept fighting to get loose of it's grasp.." She looked back towards Avi for him to continue the tale. Despite his shyness he could be brave when he needed to be.

The small male looked slightly uncomfortable to be put in the spot light. He’d only been thinking that he’d had safe reliable meals with her, and if he lost her he’d loose that privilege. Many times he’d led her toward easy prey that was too tough for him to kill alone. He’d let her kill it and feed first then swoop in for quick bites.

“I was watching. It had her, and I snuck in behind and bit it right on the a**.” His feathers flushed back with embarrassment. Brave and stupid he’d been. It could easily have turned on him. His goal had only been to free his easy meal source. “It let her go.”

She couldn't help but chuckle at his words and she could tell that the other was just as astonished by the tale. "When it turned to grab my dear little Avi and gobble him up I made my move. I'm sure you don't need to hear the rest." She said with a small thrum and s wish of her tail, ushering Avi closer to her. "Now you know how I lost my eye and why I haven't eaten this lovely little morsel."

Avi gratefully moved closer to his beloved and protector as he stared up at the other raptor. Their tale was unusual, but he wouldn’t change it for all the free meals he could eat; which ironically he pretty much had anyhow. He smiled to himself. No he wouldn’t change a bit of it.

The other seemed satisfied enough with their answer and decided it would be best if he went on his way. The pair watched as the stranger left and then Thera ushered her feathered companion along, it was time to move.

Allow Us to Tell You a Tale~
Mare's Owner: Angelique DelaMort
Mare's Name: Ziyala Dela Guerre
Mare's Temper: Cutthroat

Stallion's Owner: Divena
Stallion's Name: Tadeáš Stejskal
Stallion's Temper: Snarky

Prompt Response:
Tadeáš was an experienced bandit. He knew better than to break into a place without casing it first. It had been a simple matter of sneaking into the tunnels and following the guards around. He had memorized their patrolling patterns. He had even taken time to learn each soquili that belonged in the underground labyrinth that the super prissy Dela-whatsit clan had created for themselves. Okay, so maybe he hadn’t bothered to learn everyone’s names, but he knew where the treasure trove was, and how to get there. That was what was important.

So, after all the trouble he had put in to carefully study his target, he was understandably irritated to find that his vault was being broken into by someone else. He found himself glaring at the pink mare that was currently rummaging through his (future) riches.

“Who are you?”
he snapped, forgetting in his annoyance that revealing his location was perhaps not the best idea.

The pink mare stopped long enough to glare at the intruder. “Quiet down, you’re going to get us caught,” she hissed, then added in a mutter, “you’re going to get me caught.” She shoved past him to get at the gems piled to his left.

He stumbled a bit and growled softly. He didn’t like being pushed around. Given his size, or lack thereof, it happened more often than he cared for. He retaliated by using his talons to scratch at her leg. A petty gesture, but he was a petty bloke. “You’re robbing my vault!” He snapped, though he did keep his voice down.

“No,” she muttered with annoyance, “I’m robbing my vault.” She licked her leg and kept moving. She didn’t want to be here any longer than she needed to be. The last thing she wanted was for the residents to find her.

Tadeáš continued to follow her, shoving various shiny bits into the bags he had hanging from his back. He could fit into the smaller crevices more easily than she could, and so focused on those, letting her have the bigger piles. “No more your vault than mine,” he chirped.

She snorted derisively. “I was here first.” She didn’t really care that there was another creature there robbing them. It was their own fault that the vault was so easy to access. She couldn’t carry off all the treasures anyway. She just needed enough to free her of her past.

“Pretty sure you weren’t.”

“Well,”
she said, pulling down a particularly large jewel encrusted necklace. “Considering I was born here, I’m pretty sure I was.” She nodded toward another corner. “Don’t bother with the little trinkets, they keep the good stuff over there.”

Tadeáš gaped at her for a full two seconds before he caught on. Taking her advice, he made his way over to the more valuable baubles. “Why are you robbing your own place if you were born here?” he asked, shoving as many shinies as he could into his bag. This stunk like a trap, but his curiosity kept his mouth going.

“Well, I don’t live here anymore,” she said picking up a few more choice pieces, “and I don’t want to live here again. Plus pirates life isn’t working out quite as well as I hoped.”

Tadeáš snorted. “Then you’re not doing it right.” He rejected a jewel encrusted plate for some smaller pieces. “Or… rather…. Maybe you are. Dunno. I’m more a bandit than pirate… Pirates are the blokes out in the sea, right?”

“Generally speaking, yes. I hear when you do it on land, it just makes you a thief.”

“There’s a difference?”

“Pirates have better fashion sense.”

Tadeáš considered that for a moment, then decided it must be a mare thing. “Whatever you say, princess.” He checked his bags one last time before deciding they were as full as they were going to get. “Got an exit plan?”

“Yeah, I was planning on letting you take the fall.” She kicked over the jewel encrusted plate, creating a loud crashing sound. The effect was massive and disastrous, creating an avalanche of treasure.

Oh, that b***h! Tadeáš scrambled for the exit, running as fast as his legs would take him, staying just a few steps ahead of the guards.

When he met the pink mare again, he made it his mission to sabotage the job she was on. Somehow, they ended up as grudging partners, so all in all he counted it as an epic failure.

Allow Us to Tell You a Tale~
Mare's Owner: Fea Line
Mare's Name: Kesha
Mare's Temper: Permissive

Stallion's Owner: Roserain
Stallion's Name: Keiko
Stallion's Temper: Persistent

Prompt Response:

Kesha's tail flicked irritably, much like that of an annoyed cat. Her one golden orb narrowed as she puffed a bit of feather from her gaze. Just the simple utterance of words from Keiko's mouth made her cringe in agony.

"You're going the wrong way? I think it's the wrong way. Hey Kesh, I'm like, one hundred and ten percent sure it's not this way. I can check? Let me check. Hang on I'll be right back. Just stay right there."

Charging forward into the trees, Keiko came to the realization he had no means of checking their whereabouts. Slamming to a halt, his claws digging shallow furrows in the loam, Keiko tilted his head in thought.

"Hey Kesh? I can't see far enough to know if this is the way. Kesh? ... Kesha?"

He'd already circled back around to where he'd told her to wait for him, but she didn't seem to be there. This was the spot right? He did tell her to stay didn't he? Maybe she was in trouble again. She did that a lot, as far as he was concerned. Without him there, who knew what could happen to her? She just didn't have any common sense.

Sticking his muzzle to the ground, he breathed deeply and then started sniffing around before realizing he didn't even know what he was smelling for. It all just smelled like brown to him. Oh well, he’d find her again; he always did. Hopefully she wasn’t in trouble; she seemed to get into that often. Where would she be without him?

The mare's ears went flat against her head the more he droned on and on and on. She knew perfectly well where she was going. The loud groan that escaped her lips was the only answer he received as he waddled off. It was like a bad dream come true the moment she laid eyes on him. Oh how she lived for the moments of silence. Those few, sweet, brief minutes he was not stuck to her side like a leech.

Kesha was taking him back to the place it had all began, the place where her life changed... forever. Surely someone was missing this nuisance of a child, right? She'd break through the clearing and low and behold, there would be Mama fluff waiting to take him back!

For the love of sanity, please be waiting to take him back!

"Over here Keiko." Kesha called to the bumbling buffoon, tearing herself away from her blissful daydreams as her claws sank into familiar soil yet again.

His ears swiveled at her beckon, blundering through the overgrowth towards the sound of her voice. Bumbling into the clearing, Kei looked around happily for a moment before his expression fell.

"You found it! The old hollow. It looks like no one's here though Kesh. It's been a few months, maybe everyone moved away... I would've liked to see my family again, but I got you now. It's alright. They'd be happy for me. I think. I wonder why they moved away though. Maybe so no one else would fall into the river? I bet that happens often. I'm lucky you found me Kesh."

He had been too, his spindly foal legs had done little but churn water as the river carried him off. If Kesha hadn't been there he probably would've drowned, so now it was his job to keep her safe.

But of course no one was there. Great. "Don't remind me..." the mare sighed in defeat. Why? That was all she could ask herself. WHY hadn't she just left him in the river? "Why did I save you?" she whispered. No matter how hard she tried, Keiko just kept coming back over and over and over again. "I should have let you drown..." she choked on her words, swallowed her pride and pushed forward. Someday..... she'd lose him. Someday....

Oh Kesh, always joking around. He knew she didn't mean that and snorted at her. It was sad that his family wasn't here to see him now though. They were so happy he'd found a friend and was leaving to travel with her, but it had been hard keeping up. She ran really fast and he often had to move through the night just to catch up to her again. It made him strong, his family would be proud now. Maybe. Keiko decided not to dwell on it; he’d see them again someday he was sure.

Allow Us to Tell You a Tale~
Mare's Owner: belloblossom
Mare's Name: Necahual (Aztec word for survivor)
Mare's Temper: Resourceful

Stallion's Owner: Tiger_Kisa699
Stallion's Name: Williston
Stallion's Temper: Determined

Prompt Response:
"We will stop here." Said the mare to her companion. The two had been walking for the majority of the evening, for the night was clear and the moon was full. Necahaul was never one to waste anything useful to her or her journey, whether it was food, water, or in this case, light. "This grove will provide us cover and safety for the night."

"Aww, Neca! I can keep going! I'm not even tiiiiiiiiired-"Williston began to protest, only to yawn and look sheepish for a moment, before promptly laying down upon the ground and falling asleep. Necahaul snorted and found her own place to settle, but the forest terrain was unfamiliar and she had a difficult time getting comfortable. With a sigh, she turned her head upwards and fixed her eye upon the stars that filtered could be seen through the foliage. The stars were bright and comforting: a constant state despite her constantly changing surroundings. A soft snore from Williston caused her to smile slightly and she recalled that the stars were just as they were now, when she had met the strange usdia.

Necahaul was on the hunt for meat. She was an omnivore by necessity, but berries and grasses could only sustain you for so long. If it came to it, she would even eat someone else's leftovers. To her annoyance, what she found was a large wild cat still ripping into the flesh of what appeared to be an exotic feathered bird. Not looking to pick a fight with a creature in the middle of its meal, Necahaul was ready to retreat, when she saw movement in the corner of her eye. The outline of a round shape hidden in some tall grass was rocking back and forth; an egg, perhaps? Maybe she could get a meal.

She began to creep forward, doing what she could to prevent the wild cat from noticing her presence, but the egg suddenly popped open with a loud crack. The beast growled and swung its head about, but the mare was still staring at the egg, only it wasn't an egg, but a basket. Inside was a creature of equine descent! She couldn't eat this! She was turning around irritably when the beast was on her with a tremendous leap towards her head. Claws sliced into her face and blood flowed into one of her eyes, momentarily blinding her. She screeched and slashed her claws forward, knocking the beast to the floor. Once the cat was on the ground, it didn't matter how large it was, Necahaul made quick work of the affair and the beast lay slain upon the ground. At last, Necahaul had a meal. She was lowering her head to rip into its flesh when she noticed the feathered corpse it had been devouring. It was easy to understand that the foal in the tall grasses was parent-less. As she ate, their was a shuffling in the grasses and out tumbled the foal, coated in soft feathers and staring at her with wide eyes as she ate. After a moment, it walked forward and leaned its head upon her knee, making content cooing sounds. Necahaul glanced over to it and decided: she would keep it. After all, she had practically won the thing and now it owed her its life. She was fond of having folks owe her things that she could collect later and Necahaul was very resourceful in this regard. Yes, it would be a fine arrangement indeed.

It had certainly been a lot more work than she had suspected. She had to make sure that the colt, as he turned out to be, had enough to eat and wouldn't endanger himself at every given moment. She often reminded him of the debt he owed her and he would often reply, "I don't mind repaying my debt, so long as I can still stay with you even after I've done it!" Necahaul always said that she would not mind his company, though she was aware that he may change his mind in the future. She would miss him, she decided, if he left her.

Finally her eye was starting to droop, but rather than sleep alone, she walked over to Williston and lay beside him, lulled to the sounds of his snores as they slept beneath the stars.

Allow Us to Tell You a Tale~
Mare's Owner: Kyaishi
Mare's Name: Ravine
Mare's Temper: Dense

Stallion's Owner: Celeanor
Stallion's Name: Relkin
Stallion's Temper: Perceptive

Prompt Response:

It was completely unnecessary.

Despite every effort to stay under the radar, his companion's less... civilized tendencies seemed to draw the wrong kind of attention wherever they went. She had only just barely managed to reign in her temper long enough for Relkin to hurriedly dismiss their guide- not that he had any lasting care for the stallion, but he had been helpful in their endeavor- and now she was not-so-subtly sulking behind him as they made their way alone through the oasis. All because the unsuspecting stallion had made an offhanded comment about his height.

"He wasn't trying to be insulting, you know," the low mutter from his beak broke the tense silence between them, scaled tail swinging behind him in irritation. "You didn't have to threaten his... whatever you were threatening him with."

"Threatened to geld him," was the low mutter that answered him without hesitation, "to see how much height would count for then." The feathered mare snorted and directed her one-eyed gaze off into the distance, still mindful of her companion's presence, but pointedly ignoring his proximity at the moment. Insults weren't to be taken lightly, even if they weren't aimed directly at her- an insult to her business partner was as good as an insult to herself. Or... she thought that was how it worked, anyway. What did it matter if he didn't mean to be insulting?

An eyeroll was all she received in return as Relkin suppressed an aggravated sigh and directed his own flat stare elsewhere, refusing to acknowledge her petulant sulking. He was quiet for a moment, knowing that the silence would irk her more than anything he could say, despite her own aversion to using more than ten words at once at any given time. She was talented at bloodshed and not much else, honestly, but her unique skills afforded them a significant advantage in their particular market. And speaking of that market...

"You're going to scare off potential clients," he murmured, letting a bit of his annoyance drain away, but still eyeing her in disapproval as she trudged along slightly behind him. "No one's going to want your protection, or your... services, if they have to be afraid for their lives just to make an agreement."

Ravine snorted, shaking off the concern with a wave of her feathered tail, not pausing to pay mind to any of the ramifications he suggested. "That's what you around for," she grunted, "didn't become mercenary to service cowards, anyway." Relkin was undoubtedly the brains between the two of them, and she the brawn, which was an arrangement she was perfectly content with. Intelligence wasn't one of her stronger suits- nor was social niceties in particular- but there was no love lost for those qualities, she didn't need them when they were readily available in a neat little scaled and feathered package. He worked out the particulars, and she did the dirty work.

A long-suffering sigh answered her- a noise that she was well-acquainted with- and Ravine pointedly ignored it.

"One would think you'd have learned a bit of restraint by now, especially considering what happened in the Marshlands," he muttered with a suppressed wince, remembering the scuffle that had occurred because their charge didn't know when to shut their mouth, and Ravine didn't know when to back off. She had, he recalled with some guilt, suffered the worst of the incident, though she didn't seem to lament the loss of her eye at all. Were she anyone else, he might have admired her adaptability, but her single-mindedness seemed to drive her into apathy. Still, he could respect her strength of character, even if she seemed rather... obtuse.

The reminder was only met with a grunt in return, though the feathered mare took a moment to respond with, "Hindsight."

"...Did you just make a joke?"

"No."

Kamiki and I now are entering. 6/6/2016 - 11:44 pm est

Allow Us to Tell You a Tale~
Mare's Owner: o-Elixir-o
Mare's Name: Terra
Mare's Temper: Fiesty

Stallion's Owner: Kamiki
Stallion's Name: Ssaissquet
Stallion's Temper: Roguish

Prompt Response:

It was night and all was asleep in the kawani village, it was the perfect time for a certain raptor mare to claim a treasure to add to her collection. She quietly made her way into the village. She used the darkness to cover her. As she slipped into a tent with such stealth skill she could hear the strange sounds that humans make when they are asleep, a large fang grin crept on her face as she made her way in further to look around for anything worth taking.

Terra was large and quite dangerous, but she learned her lesson to keep a distance from humans after losing her one eye. She quietly looked around in the tent, shifting things about with her front right claw. Her good eye caught sight of a beautiful golden like stone glistening in the night. She slowly made way for it and just when she was about to pick it up with her mouth another snot got in the way, a much smaller one. She drew back in surprise as a little blue Archaeornis had her treasure in his mouth.

"Hey! That shiny belongs to me!" she quietly snapped at him.

He just rolled his eyes and began to exit the tent with her prize in his mouth. She quickly followed after him, though for a small guy he had quite the pace as he exited the village. When she caught up with him, he turned around and narrowed his eyes at her. He had not lost her. Though he should have known better, raptors were good at tracking and finding.

When he placed the amber stone into his secret stash he could hear the mare approaching him from behind. He turned around to face her with a annoyed and stern look "Listen lady, I was there first! Also I'd have you know that shiny as you call it, is an amber stone!" he huffed.

"My.." she moved in closer towards him "Quite the temper for such a small little feathered thing.." she grinned then added "Cute."

Ssaissquet looked at the raptor mare with appraising eyes, "I'm immune to flattery. However, it can be quite...useful." He tilted his head at the mare for a moment considering. "You could be useful."

"And what is that supposed to mean?"
Terra grinned showing off her teeth. She felt sure she knew what he was getting at and the idea did seem to have a certain appeal. Twice the thieves equaled twice the loot and twice the fun.

"A partnership," Ssaissquet ruffled his feathers and returned an equally wicked smile. "We could do quite well fleecing the Kawani while they slept. With your claws and my brains, the sky's the limit." He liked that. The sky's the limit. That could be their motto.

She thought on it a bit and said "I like the sound of that!" she paused then introduced herself "I'm Terra by the way."

"Ssaissquet ."

From that day on the two banded together and vowed to steal all the treasures in the soquili world....

Mare's Name: Polly "Ugly Mug" Tripps
Mare's Temper: Pragmatic

Stallion's Owner: xX Green Tea Tree Xx
Stallion's Name: Iccauhtli
Stallion's Temper: Curious

Prompt Response:
Whatever her name might have been to her parents, she had long forgotten it. She was simply too young when they had taken her. The pirates renamed her Polly "Ugly Mug" Tripps, the last part simply for their habit of finding new and humiliating ways of causing her to tumble or fall so they might laugh at her and tell her how inept she was. She learned how to be quick with her biting tongue to lash out verbally at them, to save face and prove her strength. She tried to act like them. She found herself wishing she were more evil, wishing she could stomach the horrible things the pirates did on a daily basis. She faked it well, but inside she felt pieces of herself slipping away with each atrocious act.

Then one day they came upon a stranger. They had traveled far (Polly had long stopped trying to keep track of where they were) and reached an unfamiliar land. The mare stayed back at camp for this particular raid, her spirits down and feeling not up to the task of murder and plunder. To her shocked surprise they brought something back with them. They claimed it was a giant deformed chicken, but something in the back of Polly's mind clicked and she knew this was a type of soquili. Perhaps she had known one in her past life before the pirates, she wasn't sure. What she WAS sure of was that she would not allow them to eat him, as they had just proclaimed.

Night was fully upon them, the light of the fire the only illumination for miles. Most of the crew were inebriated, stumbling and sloshing about unsteadily. Some were asleep. Surely she could pull this off. The fear in the stranger's eyes compelled her to action. With all of the confidence she could muster she swaggered over to the big brute holding the prisoner, fixing him with a daring smile. "How about I take 'im and de-feather 'im, what ya say?" She gave the giant soquili a flirtatious wink, letting her eyes linger over his bulging muscles to immediate effect. "Then lata you an' I can have a bit o' fun, yeah?" She didn't wait for a response, seeing the stallion clearly too distracted by her empty promises to protest. When the pair were just out of earshot and just starting to edge out of the circle of light from the fire she leaned down and whispered "We gonna have ta run for it. Fast. Can ya keep up and stay quiet?"

She barely registered his subtle nod when she heard behind them someone calling out in question to her, demanding to know where she was taking the prisoner. They were just out of the light now and she nudged the little fellow sideways and hard towards the trees. It was pitch-dark, thanks to a new moon, but she had no trouble racing through the woods anyway. She listened for the little prisoner beside her, trying to keep him with her as well as keep them moving and darting around to elude their pursuers. Somehow, through some miracle and thanks in no small part to the impaired mental state of their captors, they managed to find shelter for the night. Fearing to make any noise, the two remained hunched together in silence until dawn and beyond, terrified of recapture.

No pursuit came. It was midday before the two emerged from their hiding place and dared make a sound. The mare turned to the diminutive stallion. "M'name's Polly. Polly Tripps." She smiled and waited expectantly.

The stallion looked at her quizzically and made a strange cooing noise, followed by a few other bird-like sounds. Had she been mistaken? Was he really just a weird chicken? Her heart sunk and she suddenly felt very stupid, lost, and alone.

The small chicken shook his head violently and began making marks in the dirt, continuing to make all sort of bird sounds. It took a moment for it to register to Polly that he was attempting to communicate with her. "Iccauhtli ... Is tha ya name then?" He nodded helpfully and she was flooded with relief. "Well, ma lil songbird, First things first. We gotta get outa here."

Allow Us to Tell You a Tale~
Mare's Owner: Kivras
Mare's Name: Umnaya D'vochka
Mare's Temper: Cautious

Stallion's Owner: Mewsings of An Angel
Stallion's Name: Kreutzet
Stallion's Temper: Trickster

Prompt Response:
"Come now, my darling Deva. That little morsel shouldn't give us much of a fight..." Kreutzet clicked his beak softly, his tongue lightly testing the air in excitement. It had been a week since they had ventured from the deserts to the edge of the meadow and hunger was making his insides ache with want, causing sound judgement to be... rather lacking.

"It's about as little as you are to an ant, Zetty." Though the sight made her lick her chops nevertheless. Despite the pangs of hunger in her own belly, Umnaya remained the tempered steel to his molten iron. Any forwards movements were consequently blocked by her larger body, though every moment she took trying to calm his predatory flame meant the morsel got more chances to bolt. Judgment was her specialty to his hunting expertise. "Perhaps...I should give chase? Wind it, and leave it to your claws to finish it off, dear?" A wicked little smile crossed her maw. "Imagine the look on it's stupid face."

A hiss escaped his maw as Umnaya blocked him with her body, and it took every ounce of will not to snap at her heels and take off from between her legs after the possible meal. Kreutzet looked up at his confidante and mate with almost childish annoyance. "Must you ruin my fun?" He snarled. But at her words, he exuded a long hiss. "You might be right, lovely Deva. But ahhh... the fun of the chase is so... delightful."

A soft chuckle escaped her as she leaned down to ever so gently chuff into her mate's feathers. Breathing in his scent and at the same time, soothing him with her soft chirps and churrs. "I had assumed that your fun could be prolonged by a chase, my Alpha. And would it not be better to rest and dine together right after?" She straightened up, piercing eyes looking towards where they had last spotted their morsel.
It hadn't moved, unaware of the danger that was to beset it.
"Besides..." Casting a glance down at him, Umnaya bared her fangs playfully. "I do like to show off for you every now and again, when it doesn't end in you getting trampled, that is."

"Mercy! Mercy, o dangerous hunter!" He hissed, clicking his beak playfully, eyes narrowing to bright slits. He turned his gaze toward the morsel, his lizard-like tail flicking from one side to the other in a show of anxious energy. "And I don't get trampled! ...normally." He held in a loud rebuttal, not wanting to alert their quarry of their presense just yet. After a moment of rebuking thought, a grin began to twist his maw. "Alright, my lady love. My gruesome girl. My deadly darling. Let us not keep our lunch waiting. Or our bellies!"

A quick turn of her head and the knife strapped to her leg was produced. For a moment, she looked as if she were going to race towards the morsel, to stab it to death with the knife.
Instead, she leaned down to offer it to her mate. Countless times he'd managed to snake it from her, and countless times she'd retrieved it. Only rarely did she offer it for use, and this was one of those rare days.
"Do you think this would add to the shock of your attack, my Alpha?" As always, his barrage of nicknames was met with her indecisiveness and hesitance, leading to simply being called her Alpha. "And it would look...amazing, covered in blood in your handsome maw." To drive her point home, she gently rubbed her nose, and the handle of the knife, against his cheek. "And the look on it's face....I cannot imagine it would be anything less than hilarious~."

A flick of his tongue tested the air, and the grin already present on his face grew more mischievous with each passing thought of "how". He was becoming antsy and his claws ached with the itch of wanting so badly to rend flesh from bone to sate his hunger pangs. Lightly, he took the proffered blade in his beak, gripping the shaft tightly. He then looked up at Deva with a flash of green-against-black eyes, widening them. Kreutzet's beak let out a hiss, and his stub-tail thumped her leg. But instead of waiting for her to make the first move, the small Archaeornis took off in a flash of feathers and claws, descending down the hill. Hunger willed him dangerously forward. Deva would have to catch up!

Mare's Name: Lucille
Mare's Temper: Fiesty

Stallion's Owner: SwordOfTheDarkOnes
Stallion's Name: Pip
Stallion's Temper: Short

Prompt Response:
The small stallion knew that to survive this rocky crazy world he would need a bodyguard. That’s where this mare came in. She was his guard...his muscle. He couldn’t do much outside of keep watch and take off like the dickens when it counted.

It wasn’t the easiest task keeping this rather small being safe. It seems this small creature had somehow gotten on the T-rex’s bad side and it is now up to her to keep this thing safe. From the very start things have been rocky between them. Arguments and different points of view oftentimes getting them into rather sticky situations in which she would have to fight to make sure they got away. What a bother. How such a small thing could get them into such trouble is beyond her comprehension. Either way she is stuck with the pesky thing til she is no longer needed. Unfortunately for her.

Well it wasn’t his fault the T-Rex couldn’t take a joke. At least he was able to spot their enemies before they got spotted. Leaving her behind...well that was a sad mishap and usually happened after a argument occurred. Hey...he wasn’t a forgiving soul. He just was a good scout.

Lucille had just caught up to the little bugger when they reached the top of the craggy plateau. The T-rex is behind them further after the beating she had given the guy. Though she is completely sure that they will follow. So they must keep moving.” Come on little feather one. Keep moving or you become the T-Rex’s snack. You are tiny enough after all.” She carefully makes her way down the path. “ After all you are the one that got us into this mess.”

Pip chuckled as he trotted after the female. “Yeah, yeah.” he glanced back to the poor T-Rex...the thing would be lucky to have foals after what she did. Shuddering a little he trotted a ways ahead of her before leaping to a large rock. “None of his goons are ahead of us...we’re in the clear!”

“ You can never be too careful.” She shakes her head. Blasted goonies have been coming up from all sides as they had been traveling. “ Don’t you dare run off again! Remember last time they had you all tied up in those vines. Had to break those vines to get you out after beating up those guys.Whatever you would do without me I don’t know. Especially with the deal you are getting for my services.”

The small male rolled his eyes. “Mhm sure...lets just keep moving!” he just wanted to get hidden and get lost! The small stallion went to trot next to her. “Besides...you can leave at any point! We profit from each other. I can get prey to where you need it!” he grumbled.

Lucille shakes her head as she follows. Talons scraping at times against the hard rock.” Oh you wouldn’t last a day without me against those types. You need me and you do indeed get food. Even if you are an bothersome little thing. So get going and go find food. That’s something you are good for.”

Pip rolled his eyes as he darted off, scaring up a few birds for the large mare to snag for their lunch. As he did so the small stallion tripped and rolled out from under the brush. “I’m okay!” he called out.

She lets out a huff as she snaps at a few birds. She snags two birds by their wings and quickly makes do to snap their necks with her sharp teeth. She looks at the bundle of blue feathers unamused.” Shame. Would have been quite funny if you did hurt yourself. Oh well.. Another time you won’t be so lucky.”

Pip stared at her while he got up and shook his head. “Gee thanks…” he trotted back over and snapped at a wing as he started to eat.

She smirks and gives a smug look. Not regretful at all. Then she drops one of the birds as she gets to eating her own. “ Eat up. If the T-rex does get you at least he gets a plump snack.”

Stallion's Temper: Thick-Headed

Prompt Response:
“Oi, Moron! Stop whatever birdbrained scheme you’re up to, and come over here!” Rika called out, looking over her shoulder for her smaller companion. “These guys are asking how we met, and I revel at the idea of you recounting your own stupidity.”

The small-statured stallion shuffled over, the long feathers of his forelegs scraping against the underbrush. “Oh yes,” he drawled dryly, “My stupidity is what caused everything.” Looking up at the mare, he shook his head as he went back to the crowd. “The thing is that it’s this ditz’s fault that we even met… along with all of the other idiotic things that she gets into.”

He sneered as he looked back at her, giving her that signature grin full of snark that he knows will get a rise out of her.

Rika bristled, unable to help herself. “I’m the ditz? You are the one who clawed my eye out. And then you were all ‘serves you right for getting in the way’ and ‘I should have taken out the other eye’,” she said, puffing out her chest theatrically and dropping her voice into a low, exaggerated growl in a poor imitation of the other’s actual voice. “Like it’s everyday that an imbecile drops out of a tree and onto you!”

The stallion grinned, showing far too many of his teeth. “Oh yes, and then she was all ‘oh no my eye! My eye! I’m never going to be a beautiful little flower ever again!’” he said, his voice a high, screeching falsetto.

Rika gnashed her teeth, bristling at his imitation of her. “I do not sound like that!” she said, her voice jumping up embarrassingly high in indignation. “And you know that isn’t how it went! I said that you needed to apologize or I’d stomp your face in, but you’re so ugly already that it looks like someone already did it for me.”

“Oh, was this before or after you sat there and sputtered like an idiot for ten minutes? Cause I recall that I was about to fall asleep before you managed to string two words together.” Seva couldn’t help himself but to chuckle at that, watching her huff and puff some more. She was cute when she her voice got all squeaky. “Besides, at least I had the courtesy of making sure you didn’t hurt yourself further afterwards. I caught your meals, I helped get supplies for your eyes and I made sure you wouldn’t walk straight into a tree because of your lack of sight. We both know I could’a left!”

“That’s only because I followed you around until you would apologize! Which you never did, by the way,” Rika said, the annoyance in her voice dampened by a look of poorly concealed affection. “Instead of apologizing, you called me a fat, deaf dunderhead. And,” she continued on, eyeing him accusingly, “you did let me walk into a tree! Twice! On purpose!”

“Actually, the first time was on purpose. Sometimes you need to be kept on your toes, ya’know?” Seva looked away, scoffing as he slightly admitted his fault. “And like I told you before, I have nothing to apologize for,” Seva retorted back, matching her look with his own. “Everything I said was true, you’re just too stupid to realize it is.” Before he could say anything else, there came an awkward cough from the crowd that caught his attention. “Er-- Right. First meetings… Long story short, she’s an idiot that can’t move when somethin’s clearly about to fall and now we’re stuck together for better or for worse because I’m such a great stallion.”

“Pfffft,” Rika sputters, voice full of derision. “Or maybe if someone didn’t have the coordination of a drunken weasel, they wouldn’t have fallen down a tree to begin with. A tree, might I add, they shouldn’t have even been in to begin with because--new flash!--you don’t actually have wings.”

“Doesn’t mean that I can’t get up there, because--news flash sweetie!” He mocked, pausing abruptly looking up at her straight in the eye(s) with a terribly snide look, “Your idiotic fat a** can’t climb a tree, but that can’t stop me from being able to climb a tree! I’m smaller and way more agile than you’ll ever be.”

“That’s because you are a demented, mutant midget.”

“Better a mutant midget than a vapid dunderhead doing a poor impression of a pirate.”

“I hate you so much.”

“Oh don’t worry doll, the feeling’s mutual.”
