Dria walked down the front steps of St. Magdalena's and stopped at a pretty visible place beside a certain tree. She held her books tightly. All day she had felt like everyone was staring at her. Of course that was ridiculous, only the faculty had been told, but still. Her friend Kakure squeezed her arm that morning for support. But where was she now? Probably in Laurie's station wagon with Kane, their foster brother and Laurie. Dria sighed.

A young man in a Hillworth uniform came strolling along when he caught sight of a young lady standing beside a tree. He looked from her uniform to the school behind her and wondered if class had gotten out for the day. She seemed to be anxious, clutching her books like that. Putting on a friendly smile, he called out to her as he approached.

"Hey, there. You waiting for someone?" he asked, curious. "What's a pretty girl like you doing all alone out here? If school just got out, shouldn't you be chatting it up in a crowd of friends or something?"

Dria had been in deep thought when the guy in the Hillworth uniform called out to her. Startled, she nearly went for her henshin pen. Fortunately, she realized that it was just another kid like herself. Well, sort of...

She brought her eyes to meet his. "Well, if it's anything to you," She said rather defensively. "I'm waiting for my twin brother. He goes to the same school you do." She turned away seemingly angry, but she was scared. This was new to her. She did not know her family, she did not remember them.

No problem.

"Oh, yeah?" he asked, sneering. "Why're you waiting outside St. Magdalena's, then? Shouldn't you head over to Hillworth? Or is he coming here to pick you up?"

Kit chuckled. "Huh...interesting. So you go here and your brother goes to my school. Both are for kids who haven't exactly made their parents proud. So What'd you two do to earn your admittance?" He tilted his head. "Must have been pretty bad since I'm sure it would have been easier for your parents to just send you both to Meadowview or something. They must have taken extra pains to keep you two from causing trouble together."

Dria was seething at this point - the audacity of this nosy guy. "It's none of your business, but if you must know; you've forgotten something. These schools are not alternative schools, they are here for kids with poor backgrounds as well. My entry was for the latter reason, as if it is any of your business!" She turned and stormed away, tears falling.

Kit couldn't help but laugh. He put up both his palms in surrender. "Alright, alright, easy! Hahaha, you mentioned it wasn't my business twice," he pointed out, amused. "But then why'd you tell me anyway?" Persistant as he was, he followed after her. "Hey, where're you going? Don't you have to wait for your brother here? How's he gonna find you if you walk away?"

A few steps in pursuit, he saw her tears and realized he'd upset he more than he'd originally thought. Hurrying forward, he came around to try to cut off her path. "Whoa, hey, what's the matter? I don't judge," he told her, surprised she was so sensitive about something that, to him, seemed so trivial. "It's not like I'm loaded with cash myself."

Dria stared at him. How could he not know. Most of both Hillworth, and St. Mags knew - heck the police was containing the press, all the way back to Maple St., four blocks from here.

She leaned back against a stone brick wall that held a terrace at the top. Tears still slid down her face, slower now. "You really don't know?"

"Uh...don't know what?" he asked, starting to wonder if this was about something else. Had he missed something?

For the moment he was more concerned about her tear-stained face. Reaching into his pocket, he pulled out a paint-spattered rag from art class. The paint was dry, though, and the cloth looked relatively clean otherwise. He held it out to her. "Here. Please don't cry."

Dria took the rag, nodded her thanks and dried her tears. She figured it was best if she started from the beginning. "There is an urban legend in this city. Some years ago, a young girl washed up onshore on a beach near here; injured badly... with no memory of who she was or anything else except one thing - a name that she was once called. Her injuries were taken care of and she healed, but her memory never returned, and the police never could find out where she came from. Social Services gave her a full name, and stuck her in a foster home, and forgot about her. Some say she died, others say she grew up and went on with a new life, all say one thing - she never regained her memories."

"An urban legend, huh?" Kit repeated when she was done, chuckling softly under his breath. "Well. Sounds pretty awesome to me. I mean being able to start over from scratch sounds like something a lot of people would give up a great deal to do. You don't have to have baggage from your past to weigh you down."

He smirked. "And you know what they say - 'ignorance is bliss'. Must be nice not having memories to torment you, especially if she forgot them because she wanted to block them out. People are happier when they don't have to brood on things they can't change like the past."

"Are you kidding? To have no one! No one at all! At least that you remember! Even yourself is gone, you don't even know how to react to anyone or thing because even your personality is forgotten!" She was upset all over again, her tears flowing. "And I was only 11!" She froze, knowing she just gave away her big secret.

"Having no one - no ties nor strings attached - sounds like pure freedom to me," Kit answered seriously. "If you don't remember knowing anyone, then there's no sense of loss. If you want to 'have someone', you can always meet new people, but I think that's more trouble than it's worth. I had to leave home and change my name. You had it easy."

The Hillworth boy snorted. "'You don't know how to react'? Sweetheart, people react automatically. No one worries about 'having a personality' because it's innate. It's there whether you remember it or not." This time he didn't seem to have any sympathy with those tears she shed.

He met her gaze. "If I could have gotten rid of my memories and the pain of leaving everything behind when I set off from home, I would have. Count yourself lucky. There's always someone who has it worse off than you, so don't bother wasting your time wallowing in self-pity."

Waving a hand, he continued, "Anyway, you said you had a twin brother. How can you know he's your twin if you were stuck in a foster home?"

Curse him to make light of her trials. "Ah yes. Here he comes now." Down the street came Drew. If one looked Drew in the face, except for the scar and the tattoo, they could be looking Dria in the face- the same jade eye - almond shaped. The same oval shaped face with the same Mediterranean facial construction, and skin tone. The faces were exactly alike. Drew stopped to talk to the Headmistress.

"He was so upset by my disappearance, that he started getting into trouble. About a year ago, our family moved here to Destiny City. He cleaned up his act after a few days and and started looking for me. By luck, one of his friends bumped into me. Seeing my face; well you get the picture... The police teams from both sides collaborated and found that the timelines fit, but what clenched it, was the Blood tests. By DNA, Drew and I are identical twins.

"So starting today, they are integrating me into the family, slowly. I'm all nerves..."

Kitomyx
sorry thought I quoted you, and thought I redid a time or two

"Oh, hey - what do you know. He's got a tattoo under his eye like mine." Kit scratched his head. "That is a tattoo, right?" He snorted upon recognizing their face shapes. "Wait a sec, does that mean you're fraternal twins, or identical? I've heard of fraternal twins being different genders, but not identical twins. Fraternal twins don't look as similar as identical twins, though."

"Hmm. Sounds lucky," the senior answered. "If your story has a happy ending for you, I don't know what you're getting so upset about. Or nervous. If they're really your family, you should have more faith you'll get your memories back. It's easier when you're with people you've had strong bonds with, particularly a twin. You just gotta be more positive. No more tears; that's something infants do to get attention."

"Uh...you're identical?" he asked, a grin slowly dawning on his face once more. "Hahahaha! Wait, that means either you have to be a guy or he has to be a girl, doesn't it?"

Dria shook her head. "I haven't had memories for four years. The doctor says that I may never retrieve them.Oh and by the way numskull?" Dria was now pissed. He had been marginalizing her feelings and treating her like a child. "DNA test says Drew and I are about 95% identical - only difference is he is male, I am female" She attempted to sock him in the gut.
She felt better as she joined Drew, who had seen her get violent, was wide-eyed. "He deserved it, wouldn't leave me alone and kept into my business - then telling me it was so inconsequential. Let's go!" Drew stared, nodded then followed.

Kitomyx
You say whether her punch hit it's mark. She's pissed. And I'm thinking we're pretty much at the end of this rp, after you tag. Btw, no hard feelings smile ?
