Name Meaning: The metaphor 'hard truths' refers to truths that are difficult to admit and/or accept either by the truth-teller, the one they're telling the truth to, or both.

Appearance: The stallion is a vermilion unicorn with a mane and tail of old man gray and yellow-gold eyes.
Personality: Hard Truths is a cranky, cantankerous curmudgeon. He is blunt and rude with everyone (though this may change as he ages and starts to like girls), acts condescending, and likes to be a know-it-all. He is very brutal with honesty (to the point of being cruel) and does not mince words. This phony seems to relish in others' disappointment and despair and it seems to be his goal to get them down to his grumpy, cranky mood. He absolutely despises 'sunshine' personality phonies. Extremely cynical and negative, he sticks with what is practical and logical and will not use his magic unless he has a very good reason to or someone challenges him. He takes his dignity and pride very seriously. He also pretends not to give a damn about the world and what they think of him. (Key word: 'pretends'.)
Discovered 8/13/2013: Hard Truths doesn't act unfriendly for no reason. Contrary to popular belief (since that's the impression he does his best to give), it's not necessarily that he dislikes all phonies, either. Though it's true he's not fond of incompetence, one of the main reasons Truths behaves antagonistically is because he feels that others are more likely to be honest to someone they dislike rather than someone they would rather not risk disappointing or upsetting. He wants others to be honest with him so he's bluntly and rudely honest with them in the hopes of getting the same treatment in return. While neither his own behavior nor others' toward him doesn't exactly make him feel good about himself, he feels this relationship with other phonies allows him unique insight into who they truly are at their core by revealing their true colors. After all, it's said that you can tell the most about a person by how they handle what vexes them the most. The only question is who and how, if anyone ever does, will someone discover Hard Truths' true self...? That he actually cares more about others than he pretends? Will someone ever get him to realize that real friends can be just as honest with each other as enemies are? Only time will tell. In the meantime, he'll continue telling himself he cares not what others think of him and that his actions and behavior aren't really reflections of his bitter feelings and cynical beliefs. In reality, perhaps those feelings and beliefs are merely manifested from his impatience and refusal to believe that someone out there will someday be able to see who he really is behind his hardened exterior. In the meantime, though, as he grows it will only get harder and that cynicism is only likely to get worse.

Dislikes: Happy-go-lucky phonies, stupidity, shallowness, dishonesty, sweet things, being touched (especially by the unhygienic)
Strengths: Speaking his mind, pretending not to care what others think, (constructively) criticizing and giving his opinion
Weaknesses: Not good at being nice even when he wants to, not good at conveying positive feelings or praising or complimenting others, not good at lying to be polite, not good at apologizing or thanking people, not good at asking for help
Fears: Being misunderstood, being alone forever
Talent: Telling the truth without worrying what others will think and getting others to do the same.
Purpose In Life: To (help others) deliver the complete and utter truth, facts, and his honest opinion (all the same in his mind) to phonies whether they want to hear it and like him for it or not. He tells others what he thinks they need to hear as opposed to what they want to hear and he can say the difficult things that no one else will say. Briefly put, his purpose in life has something to do with getting others to speak the truth, especially when it's hard.
