Laviticus chewed his lower lip as he stared at the door in front of him silently. What was he doing here? He shouldn't have come. He barely knew Galan and yet, somehow, it made it a little easier knowing this was some perfect stranger he was about to vent all his problems to. When the two boys had exchanged numbers, he hadn't really intended to take Galan up on his offer to come and crash at his place and to talk about his worries. But, now, here Laviticus was, standing alone in the blustery, cool air of the early spring on the front step of Galan's dorm.

Taking a deep breath inward, Laviticus lifted a clawed finger and lightly wrapped on the door. He hoped it was loud enough for the Goblin to hear. Maybe if he was quiet enough the boy would never notice he was there, and the hybrid could flee in to the twilight and escape back home where he could curl up in his room and hide.

On the flip side, Laviticus knew he needed to do this. For himself. For his family. He couldn't spend the next forever spiraling out in to some dark place he didn't know if he'd ever come back from.

He needed to reach out.

Folding his hands in front of himself, the boy waited ...

Galan was working on his commission for the Rhys family portrait when the door buzzed for someone to be let in. He finished up the few strokes he was on, and set the palette under the charmed dome he had that kept the paint from drying out. Wiping his hands on his apron, he strode to the buzzer and clicked the button. "Hello?" His voice had a very clear note of puzzlement in it. He didn't know many people in Below, and of those, the only ones he'd call friends were Rhys and Ganymede. Rhys wasn't exactly likely to drop by without a word, since he needed parental permission and usually a 'ride'. Ganymede never initiated time to hang out, it was always Galan who importuned him.

Laviticus blinked. He had knocked, hadn't he? Where was the voice coming from? Giving a quick glance around he inspected the front door for a bell he should have rung instead or perhaps one of those intercoms you spoke in to. Or perhaps it was one of the ones that you could hear both ways from the other side, so long as you were pressing the 'listen button' from the other side.

Maybe he should try talking.

"Uhm, h-hello ... ?" Lavi pipped up, nervously scratching at his cheek. Gods, he really hoped he wasn't just idiotically talking to himself at someone's door step. "I-it's Laviticus ... I hope I'm not intruding! Is this a bad time?"

The thoughts went rapid-fire through Galan's head. First: how lucky he was for such a charming companion to come and join him on this lonely day. Second: how surprised he was that his offer had been accepted. Third: that such an invitation had been given due to the boy's apparent distress. Fourth: that beyond the address, he'd neglected to give the suite number. Drat!

"Hello! Of course, please come up! Third floor, suite 1378." He buzzed his guest into the building and scurried to the mirror as fast as he could to ensure he looked presentable. He smoothed down his hair, rubbed at a smudge of flaking paint on his cheek, then saw the state of his hands and squeaked in horror. He scrambled halfway across his studio floor to go wash them before rushing back the way he'd come to ensure his door was unlocked. Coming back onto the main floor he nearly tripped on the entranceway steps and slammed his slim shoulder into the wall to keep from falling on his face. Then it was across the floor properly to make sure he washed his hands of all traces of paint.

He had just managed to scrub them clean and dry them when the knock came on the door. Squeaking again in excitement, he scrambled down the three steps from his wash basin and rushed back up his entranceway stairs, nearly tripping over his own tail in his haste.

As last, (his smoothed-hair once again a dishevelled mess and) his face rather flushed mint, he pulled open the door with a breathless "Laviticus! Thank you for coming!" He offered a genuine smile, his eyes bright despite his fluster. "Please, do come in!"

Laviticus heard a small click as the ore lock unlatched, allowing him access to the building. Gripping the door handle, Laviticus gave a small yank to pull the door open before slipping inside, making sure the door clicked behind him before venturing forth.

The boy gave a look around. He could see that there was no elevator in the building, He assumed the Academy had to cut costs somewhere, and while he did take the stairs whenever he could, he felt rather bad for the individuals living in the higher up suites who had to lug their laundry up and down several flights of stairs on a regular basis. Or, heaven forbid, those who had to move all their possessions out once they left the Academy for good. The very idea made Laviticus shudder. Not only was he rather waifish, but life beyond the Academy seemed so daunting.

Taking a deep breath, Laviticus finally tackled the stairs. Alright, third floor, third floor ... he repeated to himself as he ascended, his hand sliding along the railing as he climbed. You can do this. Don't freak out ... Galan is really kind and sweet, remember? You're in good hands.

Once at the top of the third set of stairs, Lavi opened the door to the hallway that lead to each of the separate suites. He wandered down the hall that seemed to go on forever, slowly counting up as he seemed to almost glide along, his tendrils flickering shyly. "1376, 1377 ... ah! Here we are!"

Laviticus seemed rather proud of himself that he didn't need to ask for help getting to Galan's place, and raised his hand to knock on the door.

As soon as he did, the door seemed to open almost immediately. Had Galan been waiting for him at the door this whole time? "Oh!" Lavi seemed a little surprised. "Hello~!"

When the goblin smiled, Laviticus couldn't help but smile back as he was invited in, slowly sliding past Galan to give his host enough personal space before truly stepping inside to Galan's apartment-like suite. "Wow~!" Laviticus chimed with an admiring tone. "How spacious and well kept~!"

Galan's tail swayed, pleased by the compliment and he swept a hand around. "I have plenty of room so far, it being just me right now. The kitchenette downstairs and the toilet are both communal, but at least there's plenty of floorspace for my art." He fetched a few pillows and set them out on the window seat for his guest. "Can I make you some tea?" he asked cheerfully, feeling certain that tea was always the correct offering of a good host.

From the window seat, his easel was in full view, where the family portrait showed Rhys, Smolder and Aten nearly completed, but with Cassie still in rudimentary stages, her soft colours requiring quite a different palette than the males in her family. Galan patted one of the pillows and looked up to Laviticus with a soft smile. "Please, make yourself comfortable," he encouraged, moving towards the easel and then past it to take the stairs down to the kitchenette.

"Tea would be lovely, thank you!" Laviticus gave a small smile and a little bow of his head before wandering in deeper in to the apartment, settling himself down on one of the cushions that had been laid out.

"Will the space become more crowded then as more people move in? For some reason I thought this place was entirely yours! Though, I suppose that's still true for now, at any rate." Laviticus knit his fingers together, sitting tall as he continued to survey Galan's space.

Someone's space and how they decorated and kept it could always tell you a lot about a person. Was the space meant to be filled? While it was rather large and impressive, it did seem rather lonely and isolated.

"Besides drawing and ... " Laviticus noted the easel. "Ah! Painting, what other kinds of art do you do, Galan? Are you in Arkham as well? You seem like the type who would be."

Galan returned promptly with a full pot of tea and two mismatched cups. He set the pot down on his side table (after moving off his jar of paint-water and a few colour samples), and shifted the little table-on-wheels closer across the floor.

"It is just mine for now, but I am hoping for some company... The captain's bed is technically intended for two, and there's room for a second bunk bed as well, should the need arise." His soft voice faded as he surveyed the space, as if seeing it how it might be rather than as how it was. "I would like nothing more than to have another body or two living here. I take comfort in the sound of someone else moving around, breathing, using the space. It helps me keep track of time, for one thing, and it's less...lonely," he finished at last. He offered a self-conscious smile and neatly poured out two cups of tea, passing one mug to Lavitacus before folding himself up adjacent in the broad window-seat, his tail curling tightly about his folded legs.

"I enjoy all of the arts, but mostly as a consumer: books, plays, music. I'm really only creative in the visual arts. I occasionally scrapbook, and I've been working on a collaboration with a friend who's a fashion student." He nodded emphatically. "So, yes, I'm in Arkham. How about you? What are you studying?"

Laviticus lifted the cup of steaming tea after it was poured and gave a small bob of his head as a 'thank you', looking down at his cup, examining the reflection of the lights around them. He sucked gently and subtly on his lower lip as he listened to Galan speak of his living situation. How did he feel about his own circumstances? His house seemed so full yet at the same time so empty, and his dad Sascha was already trying to bring another child home. It was growing a bit too crowded with drama for Laviticus' tastes.

"I wonder if I'd like living with people I actually enjoyed the company of." Laviticus said thoughtfully. "I've actually been toying with the idea of moving out." He looked up with a hint of apology in his rose coloured eyes, a small, sad smirk curling his plump lips.

"Me? Oh!" Laviticus quickly set his cup down back on the table. "I'm planning to study dance in university ... so I'm trying to take dance for my elective as much as possible!"

Galan's ears perked as Laviticus nervously mentioned living in a place he'd have more space, with people he liked, out of his current abode. It was not lost on Galan that his space very much fit those criteria, and what's more, it puzzle-pieced well with his own desires.

Just in case it was a bit of happenstance, and not meant to come across the way it sounded, he let the comment slide for now, but he couldn't help taking each subsequent comment or motion in a different light. No longer was he watching the comfort of a guest in his home, he was evaluating, imagining life with Laviticus in it. The quiet presence, the soft brush of colour moving about the space, the sound of this voice when he woke...

"Dance?" Galan asked brightly, lighting up. "Do you just study the history and theory of it, or do you dance? If so, I'd love to see you dance!" He looked around, and waved an arm at the wide open space where he normally had his models stand. "You'd have plenty of space to practice here..." He hadn't meant for it to come out so overtly, but the thought had nested in his brain, and he was oh so curious to know if Laviticus had meant to come here with a view of scoping out a potential home.

Laviticus blinked. He had come to Galan's today to chat and speak and lean on his shoulder, but instead he had gotten so caught up in getting to know the Goblin better ... was he ... was he just asked if he wanted to move in? Laviticus blinked again, his lashes fluttering like the wings of a butterfly as he tried to grasp what had just been said.

No, no. Surely it was just a polite offering, the sort that people made out of kindness rather than actually offering. He should just side-step the commentary for now.

"I ... I actually study ballet. My father was very in to dance. Still is; a different sort, mind you. Dad was very in to belly dancing and other ethnic dances that complimented and emphasized his curvaceous body. His dream was to set up a school to teach others of his race to dance and 'embrace their inner elegance'. While litch are rather strong, they're known for being rather clumsy as an off-set. My dad spent a lot of his younger years perfecting that grace. He shared his passion for dance with me. At first it started out as just ... yunno." Laviticus shrugged easily, smiling privately to himself. "Those sort of silly little dances you do when you think nobody is looking. He was my dance partner I guess. As I got older I enjoyed it so much that I wanted to dance more seriously with him. So he taught me his style ... and encouraged me to find my own. Because of my geist blood, he encouraged me to seek out something that would lead me to my own 'grace'. My dad suggested ballet. He said that my strength from his blood and etherealness from my other dad's blood would suit me well ... so I tried it, and I fell in love."

Lavi looked up, his smiling blossoming on his lips, rather serene in nature. "I would love to have a place as spacious as this with a cute little studio to dance in. It would be a dream come true."

Galan turned around to survey his space and set his teacup down decisively. "Here!" he piped cheerfully, hopping off his stool where he'd studied and scooping a few errant pillows off the floor and tossing them haphazardly at his captain's bed where they tumbled aimlessly. Kicking a ratty drop cloth to one side and scooching some stacked books out of the way, he cleared the space before the window. "Ballet means classical music, yes?" He was excited for the prospect of seeing this beautiful boy dance, and doing all he could to set the stage. Like a bouncing spark from a fire, Galan tripped lightly across the floor, his bare feet slapping as he half-trotted to his cabinet to find a record suitable for ballet. "How about...uhm..." He rifled through: David Baphoie, Tears for Fears, Geist in the Machine... "How about The Magic Flute?" He pulled out the Mozart pressing and stood up, pushing his long hair out of his face with one hand and his tail. "This space is made for dancing, and I'm afraid I'm not able to satisfy those house spirits in that respect..."

Again, Laviticus found himself blinking, a dainty hand pressed lightly to his chest as he watched Galan rise to his feet and tumble about the space, as if franticly looking for something. It wasn't quite the reaction he had expected, but maybe that was just the Goblin way. If one shared childhood memories ... perhaps it was polite in Goblin society to fumble about in a rush. The nightmare could only wonder to himself silently at the daydream's customs, but as the boy started to tidy his space and wander over to what looked like a collection of music, the hybrid went bright pink in the cheeks and let out a small 'eep' of noise.

"Oh!" Lavi, gasped, his hand that had been resting a bit limply now clutching at his chest. "D-did you want me to dance /now/?" he asked, a little alarmed. He was feeling rather caught off-guard. "Ah, but I haven't prepared anything for you! Had I known ... !" The hybrid lifted his hand and fanned at his face, trying to stop the heat from getting any worse or the blush from spreading across his whole face.

Galan stood mutely by the turntable, staring at Lavi with a glowing expression. He was just so very /beautiful/! Blinking and drawing himself back to focus, Galan fumbled the record hastily onto the player and dropped the needle, the sound whispering about as the record spun up to speed. "Just... Do as you need... If you..." He made his way back towards his friend, and scooped up his art bag on the way, plopping onto his stool and flipping it open. The music started, light and cheerful and swelling. "If you feel like dancing, feel free... I don't want you to feel put on the spot, but...ah..." Galan was so caught up in sketching, he couldn't even be embarrassed. "It's just that you're so beautiful..." he murmured aloud, not even realizing that his thoughts had been vocalized, hand moving the conté in swift motions to capture the vision before him.

There seemed to be no getting out of this. Galan seemed so sure that Laviticus would perform for him. He didn't see any other options presented to him, and so, quietly, the hybrid set his cup of tea down on the table, feeling a little unsure and put on the spot. It wasn't entirely unpleasant. Galan's eagerness and excitement to see him dance did help ease his self-consciousness. Thus far Galan had been such a wonderful host, and if this was the boy's one request ... could he really deny him that?

Taking in a small, steadying breath, Lavi mentally prepared himself before stepping out in to the open space that Galan had so kindly cleared for him. He listened to the music as he tied his hair more sturdily atop his head, binding it in a tight bun as he waited for a particular cue. This was a song he had performed to many times, so while he was unprepared for the request, at least he had something to show the Goblin. He felt a little bit better knowing that.

Just as the music hit a crescendo, Laviticus began, leaping in to the music with his surprisingly long legs, rather nimble on his feet. He figured, starting from this point, that he could show Galan some of the best he had to offer without having to dance the whole routine.

As he rose on both feet in a releve, he noticed that Galan was drawing. Was Lavi his muse? The goblin seemed so caught up in his work, and the hybrid couldn't help but to smile. But the smile quickly faded as the blush returned to his cheeks, and Laviticus rested in fourth position, eyes growing wide. H-had he just. Called him ... beautiful?

"P-pardon, Galan?" Lavi asked, stammering over his words, nearly squeaking his question.
