----Basic Information----

Mind behind the Character: Corvo Bianco

Name: Hideaki Katsuro

Gender: sorcerer (male)

Age: 15

Personality: Cool, aloof, quiet, strong, mysterious, ambitious. You know, a winner (see bio).

History:

With a name that literally means “excellent, bright victory” it’s really no wonder the prince of Touou embodies the word “winner.” His life looks like a highlight reel. From early conquests in spelling bees and art competitions, about which he claims in modesty he was only getting lucky by messing around, to a natural affinity for sports and academic; accolades affording him comforts and looks from college scouts well beyond what was expected of his family’s social standing; all this culminating in one of the most intimidating presences his “competitors” see. Though that definition, a cold competitor whose only goal is to win and tear asunder all obstacles, not bothering with friendship or the trivialties of less successful students, is beneath him as well. Katsuro remains as gentle as Summer rain, and twice as refreshing if you can get more than a sentence out of him.

You see, this boy, young man really, wasn’t always so severe and withdrawn. It seems that he was gifted on more than one plane; and he always went through life’s events, his many victories, as though he was listening for something, someone. Katsuro could feel it: more eyes were upon him in every moment than were ever in the room visibly. As soon as he completed a task he would stare through to the stars, searching for approval that meant more to him than a smile and hug, looking for guidance from what he knew was more than an imaginary friend. At a certain point one of his friends had teased him about this; the rest of the group in turn coming to join him in ribbing the poor boy about his fascination. Hideaki made a decision then to always listen for the whispers but to never show it.

As if by alchemy, the energy and focus he received from redirecting his attention upped his already impressive track record at school to nationally and even internationally competitive levels. Now being inspired by listening to those hidden frequencies, Katsuro set out to uncover the secrets of auditory learning, publishing the acclaimed essay “The Selection of Hearing and the Collective Learning,” wherein many parallels to Kant and the Californian “Neo-Fruedians” with great success to the Eastern thinkers who although had shaped much of the philosophy of Japan and surrounding areas had not been given proper voice beforehand--while he was in middle school. He kept going, diving deeper, deeper… Deeper still, often being stopped in soccer game celebrations by professors who found they were captivated with his intellect at such a young age and wanted nothing more but to hand him recommendation letters so he could join them in university, and could scarce wait until he was in high school to do so.

He dated a little at the start of high school, but his passion seemed to drive away any commitment to any one girl; still, he was by no means a loser when it came to the ladies. Finally, about halfway through his first semester of normal high school, Hideaki broke. He was tired of normal things, for they could no longer fill the void in his heart; and no matter which gave first, his patience waiting for his triumphs in this world to catch up to his expectations or the forces that called to him simply grew tired of waiting, Katsuro found he could no longer force himself to fit in this world. He stopped going to school and started coming up with ways to dodge the truant officer. Walks around town became common as their routes were variant.

And one day it finally happened, his answer found him and he it. During a walk around town he noticed a piece of graffiti he might have overlooked before. “Forty two, forty two, five sixty four anytime you want to knock on Death’s door…” It was scrawled all along the alley he’d turned into. Just what did it mean? Clearly something was important about it to some group of people; the different iterations of the graffiti had different handwriting. No cops were around, so he decided to try it for himself. Taking a spare spray paint can, he wrote the little rhyme for himself. A short but awkward moment passed with nothing to show for his curiosity, but soon enough he would get a text on his device.

“Hiya, kiddo!” Said the loveable reaper on the other end of what looked to be the best set up facetime chat ever or something completely out of this world. So many questions. Eventually Death told Hideaki to come by the academy.to find out for himself. Of course he wanted to, but first some research. However that did little to slow him down. The next day Hideaki had packed his things and was headed out to the academy.

It took a while, but Hideaki finally arrived at the giant school’s steps with no scars; only stars in his eyes as he looked up at the ridiculous triumph of architecture before him. So many times he thought he was lost or just plain stupid to be going through with this, but anything was better than his old life in that one-horse town of his with that stifling academic environment and a bland future; he clung to this on the coldest of nights and the sweltering days with the laughing sun blistering his skin red to be called tan tomorrow; that thought alone made it worth it by itself. Can you imagine he felt, then, to have his dream exceeded by this bold new reality? It’s alright if you can’t. Not many know this feeling like Katsuro did in this moment.

Remember what I said about his passion improving his studies? Multiply that by whatever large number you may think of to reach what Katsuro was doing in the DMA. After getting transferred there by Death, and after a very surreal chat about being a sorcerer, which explained the source of his paranormal sensitivity, Katsuro found an environment that rewarded him for his curiosity, and he thrived in it. Soon the young man bloomed into one of the top students there as well, but this time it felt better; this time it was earned. In his first year he went on missions, scoring “easy” kills on threats that had the rest of his team nervous. It was a few days before he went on a mission to help one of his friends kill a witch and make his death scythe that he got a call from his father.

“Dad… Can this wait until next week?? I have midterms and I really need to--”

“No you don’t.”

“... What?”

“You heard me, boy.” His father’s voice was not the same as it had been, so happy and proud. This was a cold man who took no guff. “You’re not in a regular school, are you?”

“... No. No, I’m not.” His father sighed on the other end.

“Why didn’t you tell me you wanted to do this whole supernatural thing? Son, don’t you get it? We could do that in your free time…”

“Wait, what are you saying?” At this point a strange blob began to rustle Hideaki’s clothes. A small winged furball launched itself at the sorcerer, and before he knew it he had a facefull of cuteness. “MRPHVERMERPH!”

“That thing on your face is my assistant. If you try showing him some love he might seem like less of a parasyte. Just a thought.” Katsuro ripped the little guy off his face and tossed him across the room. Thankfully the flying fluffball was so soft he just stuck to the wall, completely absorbing the shock of impact until his floated gracefully back to Hideaki’s shoulder.

“Look here, old man! I’m not playing games anymore. You tell me what the Hell’s going on right now!”

“What do think I’m trying to do!” … And so began the longest, weirdest talk in adolescent talks. Well, it was up there anyway. That Winter Katsuro came back home to visit. It was actually kind of nice. He and his family were able to talk about the whole magic thing fairly fluidly. They liked independent study more, but were willing to support Hideaki if he wanted to play with Death just to have access to his libraries. As he was leaving Katsuro’s father pulled him into his study, which was just some old closet, and presented him with a book; but cast a spell blocking Katsuro from seeing it until he got back to school. Now with a new way of looking at his education, not to mention perspective, Katsuro Hideaki heads out on his new adventure.

Race: Sorcerer

Family: TBA (Father, mother, etc. All NPCs)

Soul Protect: Activated

Grimoire: Necronomicon

DMA: Sophomore

----Abilities and Techniques Information----

Logos (acitve/conditional):
- Katsuro has the power to draw out the true potential of a word or phrase, however to do so that word or phrase must be drawn out in Kanji. It takes a post to draw the character(s). Energy expelled is in proportion to the effect of the word. Ex: if Katsuro uses the technique by writing the Kanji for “fire” down a much smaller amount of energy is expelled as opposed to the word “gravity (if there is a Kanji for it).” Keep in mind this move is meant to be very versatile, but certainly not an excuse to do some Mary Sue activities. It cannot kill, it cannot heal any wound instantly, etc. It also takes a turn in advance to prepare, so a lot of this will be a test of wits for myself and the character. “Smaller” words like fire or water stay in effect for up to five turns, medium words like “strength” stay in effect for up to three turns, and large words like “Maelstrom” or “Resurrect” only last one turn. There may be up to three of these in effect at any given time with any combination. No cool because it has a charge time and the fact the larger words take a significant amount of energy to use.

Permanent Record (active):
- As a last-ditch move, Katsuro can summon the terrifying power of the Necronomicon to imprison his opponent within the book’s pages, forever making it part of his collection and perhaps able to be summoned later under his control. {OHKO move}

I believe I've told you to quote me when you got your profile done.
Also, note that the OHKO moves can only be used 10 times.
5 of them would hit for sure. The remaining 5 have only 50% of accuracy before the skill itself becomes useless. ( on your case not entirely useless, just the trapping them forever part )

I'll explain the OHKO moves mechanics later on the main thread.

______________________________________________________________________________

After a month of grueling trials and struggling, Hideaki escaped the realm and its hellish nightmare-scape. His powers had changed, however, and now he finds himself without his tome, the Necronomicon. Without the book, he can hardly do anything, seeing as his is very young. How will this affect the young man and his journey to become the star of DMA? For all his trials yet, his adventure is only beginning!

Natural Kind: :
Katsuro can summon a member of a species if he has defeated the opponent’s kind before. Ex.: if there is a water elemental, Katsuro can do battle with it and, upon defeating it, summon one of its species in later battles for five turns. One summon per species per battle. He cannot summon another after the five turns have elapsed in the same fight. This takes the place of a standard cooldown. Provided he has enough mana (or whatever) he may summon one of each of the species trapped within his grimoire. He usually has enough for three summons. Summoning and maintenance thereof demands a certain constant usage of magical energy. Because of this, Hideaki cannot use the full extent of his other abilities while the summon is on the field.
