Incanthis was feeling a lot better, having gotten enough time to recover from his wounds, all of them now healed over. He was also given a lot to do in the form of some books on healing that he had been pouring over along with the most beautiful set of beads that he'd ever seen. It might be a form of biased he was sure since the beads were a conduit for magic that would allow him to heal others, but still, they were beautiful in his mind. Currently the beads were wrapped around his arm, clinking together as he walked, and tucked under the other arm were some of the books. He meant to study outside today, while also spending time with Abie. The sweet boy had told Incanthis that he had something 'amazing to show him' and that was where he was heading now.

As he walked toward where he was to meet up with his friend he found himself wondering what it was that he was going to see. Really he couldn't guess, though he was actually eager to see it. That in and of itself was a nice feeling, to be so excited over seeing something that Abie wanted to show him. How long had he been too busy serving others to really enjoy something himself? There were a few bright spots he could think of in the past, but nothing like how he'd felt since he'd started staying with the twins and their family members.

"Abie? Are you here?" He called out, stepping out into the warm sun in the courtyard where he was supposed to meet his friend. He was only a few steps outside, having barely closed the door behind him, when he found himself swarmed by tiny snaptrotters, something that drew a squeak of surprise from the unsuspecting Shifter.

Abie actually had his shirt on for once. The loose long sleeves let him cross his arms as he thought. The front was open, but that mattered little in this place. He was thinking over the converstaion he had with his Mentor earlier. The male had talked to him about Incanthis. What did Abie expect to happen? Incanthis had to leave Oba. There was little chance that his former master wasn't looking for him to drag back kicking and screaming. Even if slavery was outlawed. Incanthis was marred. That alone will give him issues within Oba. Abie had told his Mentor in no uncertain terms. He was going to be stubborn about protecting the male. He couldn't explain it. Well he could...

But he rather not go down that mental track.

He knew he was messed up mentally. He knew that he was fractured and it wasn't going away any time soon. Sighing he let out a soft yelp when the tiny snaptrotter nipped his calf. He looked down, his mind recalling the second topic. After his Mentor dropped the first he then pulled out a tiny snaptrotter. Telling him that he had recently acquired what the Matori merchant called a "clutch" of baby snaptrotters. Handing him the baby he was told that all of the infants were now his. Just like the Mentor raised all of his Janarim's from infancy it was up to Abie to do the same. He heard Incanthis call for him and then stifled the laughter as the babies all swarmed the new voice.

He walked around the corner the biggest of the babies trailing him "Surprise! Mentor has given me...infants. He says since he raised all of his Janarim's from birth I should do the same. Like them?"

Incanthis starred down at the milling babies that Abie was saying that his mentor had gotten for him. A whole clutch of them? Really? Lifting his silvery gaze up to look at Abie he asked him, "You're supposed to raise all of them? Or are you supposed to pick one out from the group of them to raise?" It sounded as though he might be in charge of... all of them? Abie had said that his mentor raised 'all' of his janarim from birth so Abie might very well be in charge of all of them, "Wow, if they are yours how do you plan to raise them all? Isn't that difficult?"

Squatting down to look at the little ones that were milling about, resting his books on his lap, he found himself watching them, "Their really tiny, aren't they? I think I've seen a couple of full grown ones before, though at a distance... I never knew that they were this small." He murmured, sounding as though he were facinated by the fact that the creatures could grow that much. As he watched them moving about his eyes fell upon one of them, a deep green little guy that seemed to be starring at him through narrowed eyes, "Ah!" Reaching out Incanthis picked the little green grump up before he started to laugh, unable to help it.

Turning it around so that it was facing Abie he said, "Look, look! It's got that look on his face like the one Aqio gets when he's trying to look serious!"

Abie had crouched down to scratch behind the head fins of a few. Looking up he let out a sharp laugh. "Ahahaha. Perhaps once we find out their genders we can name that little one in honor of him." He then sat crossed legged as a few crawled into his lap. "Now, Mentor said not all of them were going to be Mount material. It was up to me to decide which ones would be used..."

He chuckled as the smallest one scrambled its way into the open folds of his shirt. Smiling softly down at it he looked up to Incanthis. "Today is just hang around and learn their personalities. There's only seven of them...how hard can that be?"

He grunted as one headbutted his side. Then slowly looked down at it.

Incanthis watched Abie for a moment before settling down in the same crosslegged manner that he was sitting in, books still resting on his lap, before he lowered the grouchy looking snaptrotter to sit on his lap. Once there he scratched it on the head gently, then said, "Alright, until then we can just call it Junior." He laughed softly as he pet the one he'd dubbed 'Junior' before he asked, "Since only some of them are mount material does that mean that only one among them will be the 'right one' for you? Or do you think you might keep a couple of them?"

He didn't know a lot about riders and therefore felt that he should ask a lot of questions when it came to how they went about things. Mostly due to being curious, not because he would become one himself... though it might be fun to at least raise a pet someday. He wasn't sure what he thought about raising something this small that would get so big though. It must be a lot of work, not to mention finding enough food for something that would get so big. He'd need to get a reall good job to afford such a thing or move to a place where he'd be able to hunt for the beast's food. Both ideas being the sort that sent his mind spinning a little just thinking about it. He was still a little leery about going outside for too long, though he knew that had to be a bother for those whose house this was. He couldn't exactly mooch off of them forever, he'd need to get a job, start to fend for himself at some point.

Sighing a little he started to pet 'Junior' again, forcing such thoughts aside as he asked, "So what is step one where the babies and their training is concerned?"

Abie chuckled excited. He liked a few of them already. There were some with a lot of spunk. Though the smallest infant which was hiding in his shirt was quickly growing on him. He absently rubbed between its eyes as he thought about his lessons. "Ah...well. Yeah, only one will be the Battle Mount that I'm to use officially. As for the rest, I would most likely breed them for other potential Riders."

He thought about the prime place for the babies. Obviously that would be Matori. Surely there were other places they could thrive...he looked around. Could he travel with seven infants in tow. Not alone that was for sure. He would need help. He glanced to Incanthis, marveling about how the little ones sorta flocked to him. Maybe?

"Well, for now its just learn who they are. Figure out what makes them tick and train them to respond to it now." he shrugged.

Incanthis gave a nod, seeming to be listening closely, "There seems to be a lot of work in being a rider, huh?" It wasn't something that Incanthis had thought about but the fact that he had to get a clutch young, raise them, figure out which one was his mouth, and then from there breed other mounts from those left. It sounded quite complicated to him, but it was the path that Abie was taking and he'd cheer him on best that he could. Giving a smile he told the younger man, "I will pray for your success in your endevors to come, Abie." The boy had been kind to him, so it was the least that he could do, "If either you or your mounts need anything in the way of healing in the future I will be sure to provide it."

If they were still in the same area as each other that was. There was no telling if they would part ways and when after all. Still, he'd offer his services to Abie, Aqio, and the others around the twins while he was still with them. There was no way he could completely pay them back for all that they had done, but he could at least try to help where he could.

"Figure out who they are." He mused, looking at the others who were still roaming around, some still circling him, to the one that Abie had in his shirt, to the serious though grouchy one sitting on his lap. After a moment he asked, "Is it alright for him to sit on my lap for now? I don't want to get you into trouble later because Junior here things that he's a lap-trotter instead of a snaptrotter." He couldn't help but to give a bit of a smile at the stupid joke he'd made, finding the idea of Junior being a lap-trotter rather funny in a way that might get someone unsuspecting squished in the future.

Abie was warmed by the other males words. He nodded. "It'll be hard. Mentor says he's nearly done teaching me...once I'm ready. I'm to pack up the clutch and find a place to start. The desert is no place for water bred Snaptrotters. I don't know where to go...going back to Matori seems redundant. I want them to go to a place where I can raise them to adapt and be stronger than normal. Maybe Juhar or even Zena."

He leaned back a little on his palms. Smiling as he felt a little one nose around his sleeves. Curiosity was a good thing in a infant. Caring for janarim pups gave him experience to the basic needs of a baby beast. He glanced to Incanthis, watching the other male closely. "I'm going to need a lot of help till I find a suitable place. Aqio isn't good with beasts...think it over real hard. I'd like to know if you wanted to travel with me Incanthis."

He knew that if he added on the fact Incanthis was running from Oba it would cruel. He wanted the male to come to terms with the request and accept it on his own will. Abie wanted to spend more time with Incanthis, the male was kind. Almost Motherly but Abie would never make that connection. He saw a male scared of losing. Losing what...Abie had no idea. He just got a feeling Incanthis was hiding from him. He wanted the male to come out more. Show who he is more.

"You're to pack up and leave with them?" Incanthis asked in a surprised tone. He'd heard of being thrown from the nest before, to see if one could fly on their own, but his mentor meant to toss him out along with a bunch of babies? He was to find his way in the world by himself while trying to feed and care for the clutch? Talk about being thrown out of the boat into deep waters he thought to himself. This couldn't be a good thing for him, and yet it sounded as though it was the inevitable end to his mentor's part of the training. Were it not for the fact that the man had helped him out such much he would definitely disapproved. Such tactics seemed more akin to what Incanthis's late father would do.

Shaking his head to clear any thoughts of Issao that might want to claw their way into his mind, thoughts that were always good for making him feel bad about himself, he said, "I wouldn't suggest Zena, not yet at least. It's far too cold this time of year and would freeze your little babies into trotter-cicles..." Which would be awful! Not something that he wanted to even think about for a moment happening to any of them let along Junior.

"H-Huh? Wait, what? Me?" He actually looked as though the words were something he'd not expected in a hundred years. Abie wanted Incanthis to travel with him and the clutch? It was likely a good thing that he was siitting because otherwise he might have fallen over. His mind seemed to race, hand stilling at its task of petting Junior which caused the creature to squeak its displeasure at him. That seemed to pull him out of his thoughts, "I... huh... maybe? I was thinking on what I should be doing next, getting a job or... something that would be helpful. What about your brother though? Would he be traveling with us too?" He didn't want to seem as though he were trying to steal Aqio's place after all.

Abie smiled. That was a good reaction if any. "Aqio, I talked with him earlier. He said he would think about it. See if he was up for traveling or not. Of course we would need time to find all the supplies needed." he would have to start doing odd jobs to earn the necessary cart he would need and a labor beast to pull it. He thought about it. There was a market he could go to for the beast. That would be later, when he has a routine settled for the babies. He knew a elderly Oban merchant who he could work out something with. Build some muscle needed to wrestle a adult if the need arose.

He reached out to take Incanthis' hand in one of his own, squezeing it gently. "Take your time to think. I have a few things to settle. Like a reasonable routine with these little guys. So far this is actually the longest I've sat with them since they got here a few days ago." He looked around at the seven infants who all were asleep now. He huffed. "Bored are we huh?"

"Ahh, yes. A lot of supplies would be needed to travel with such a large group of babies. Some harnesses and leashes for instances so that they won't wander off and get lost while they are still tiny and defenseless." That would be the most terrible thing that could possibly happen! Something might very well eat the poor litle things up because they were too weak and little to defend themselves. Not something he liked the thought of if only because he'd been in the position of being 'too weak' most of his life. He wanted to help Abie, to make sure the babies didn't end up in such a position themselves. How would Abie train them and figure out which of them should be his 'official mount' if something happened to them? No, they had to be protected!

Coming out of his moment of swirling worry when Abie took his hand Incanthis starred at his friend, then gave a slow nod, "Ahh... yes, thank you. I will definitely think about it." He said that, but already a part of his mind was set on helping Abie to protect the babies, at least until they were big enough to fend for themselves. After that then it should be alright for him to go his own way... at least if that was what Abie wanted him to do. There was a part of him that worried that he'd get attached to his friend and the babies, making it hard for him to want to leave him. At the same time there was a part of him that wanted nothing more then to find his brothers if they were still out there.

So maybe... maybe he should suggest they go to Jauhar? It would seem selfish but it would allow him to be with Abie and the snaptrotters while also looking for his missing brothers. Something he was tempted to ask for, though he held off for the moment, instead looking at the babies who were now asleep. It seemed as though they had gotten tired from all their running around, "Naw, not bored. Babies sleep a lot, it's the same for hatchlings and younglings." He said fondly, thinking of his baby brothers as he once more started to pet Junior.

Abie blinked as he recalled a small fact from before. Auntie mentioned Jauhar...Incanthis seemed a tad interested in that information. He glanced to the shifters forehead finding it odd Incanthis seemed to be the only shifter he ever saw with that formation. Was it a family thing? Of course. Incanthis was taken from his family just like they were. Abie blinked. The puzzle falling into place little by little. He took a deep breath. "Incanthis. If you want me to. While I'm traveling. I can look out for family of yours if your missing any..."

He withdrew his hand, feeling a tad empty for doing so. He settled as he gently stroked the runt hiding in his shirt. He had to figure out how he was going to do this safely. Though his mind didn't usually think of the safe route. He was more direct and blunt force. He looked off to the side as he thought. Part of him wanted to keep Incanthis close, the shifter was quickly becoming a beacon for Abie's darker thoughts. He wasn't letting those thoughts disrupt his nature. He knew how to regain who he was at least. The other part of him wanted Incanthis to be on his own feet, make his own choices. Abie couldn't control him. He didn't want to. He just wanted to let Incanthis make his own path.

Preferably alongside his own.

Incanthis's eyes went a bit wide as Abie spoke up, telling him that he could keep an look out for his brothers while he was traveling. Was that in case he didn't want to go with him? In case he was unable to face his brothers after everything that he'd done? So many things that he didn't want to think about, so many things that he didn't want any of them to know about. He gave a little sigh as he dropped his gaze, starring at Junior instead of at Abie, unable to face him as his mind raced, "I... maybe? I would like to know that they are alright at least even if I can't..." He trailed off, shaking his head, "After everything I don't know I can face any of them. I am, at best, a traitor and at the worst a..." He didn't want to say, instead shaking his head once more.

"You're a kind young man, Abie, and thank you. It's good of you to offer and if you saw any of them from a distance I might even join you to look in on them. I just don't know about actually talking to them." As he said the words he lifted a hand up, clutching at his brand marked shoulder, as though he could feel the searing pain there all over again. He hated the mark, yet he'd never tried to get rid of it, it was his burden to carry. To try to get rid of it or cover it, that felt like a cop out. Hiding from who he was now and all he'd been through would be proof that he was as weak as his father always accused him of being.

Giving a weak smile he said, "I apolgize, it just hurts on occassion." He said, not wanting Abie to worry about him. The young man had more then enough to worry about already with so many little babies in his care after all, he didn't need a weakling Shifter on top of everything else.

Abie's eyes softened in understanding. "I understand that all too well. Your not the only one who was branded in their lifetime here." Abie let his hand fall to his hip. Shifting, making sure the sleeping infant wasn't woken. He pulled the shirt away and lowered his rope belt a little. There. With just the very top of it peeking out was a slave brand. Abie's eyes were dull a little as he settled everything back into place. He had it covered for two reasons. One- Aqio covered his and Two- He just didn't like the color it had taken on his skin. He smiled softly at Incanthis.

"I don't know what type of shame you feel you've taken. I won't claim to understand it. Not unless you were willing to fully entrust it to me. All I can say for certain is that we both have family out there. Me with my elder brother. You with your brothers. I...I don't even think I would be able to remember my brothers face at this point. It seems so long ago that I last saw him." As he spoke Abie shifted to lay on his back, the markings he bore dark contrasts on his skin. The infant snaptrotter a pale partner to them. He rubbed at the infants head fins before looking over to Incanthis. "I'm sure any younger brother you have will want to see you. If they were young when you left. They'll have questions only you can answer..."

Just like he had questions for his own brother.

Incanthis blinked a couple times as he saw the mark that Abie had upon his form, one similar to his but that of a different master. It was as they the marks were something that they had taken great pains in creating, making their own, before they used them to claim people and beasts as their property. It was something that made Incanthis really, truly want to hate the Obans... but due to a handful of them, the young Kalli being one of them, he found himself unable to do so. It was impossible to hate a whole group because they had a few vile members.

Abie spoke kindly to him, reassuring Incanthis even though they seemed to have suffered equally in the past. He had to do as Abie was doing he thought to himself, he had to be stronger, to stand up against the feelings roiling around inside of him and keep moving forward. Reaching his arms out he wrapped them around Abie, pulling him close, and hugged him tightly, "You really are a good boy, Abie." He murmured quietly before giving him a kiss on the top of the head. He was a good guy, one of the best he'd met for a while, and Incan really couldn't thank him enough.

Drawing back he gave him a smile, "Let's pray to whatever deity might be listening that we one day find our brothers." He said to Abie, siting up right once more to keep from squishing poor Junior.
