But he could only pick one for this class. He folded his arms across his chest as he pondered some more before finally rising his hand.

"My favorite historical figure is Argus the Stoneskilled," he began. "They are my favorite because they al-chem-ized," he carefully enunciated, "Soul Stones. If he hadn't done that, a lot of us wouldn't be here. And we wouldn't be as, um," he frowned as he tried to find the right word to use. "Mixed as we are now. And having more of us and more different us is good, right?" He glanced at the teacher as if asking for affirmation because what if his reasoning was wrong? Or worse, it wasn't good enough?

Ugh. Hailey did not want to be in this class right now. This class hurt her head. Made her think too much... especially on things she really didn't think were all that important. At least she had Malachi to study with so she wasn't completely out of the loop. Plus she did learn about some Geist stuff, so that was cool. She raised her hand for her turn after her classmate was done.

"I like Prince Aerath." she began. "He was the first Geist Prince. One of the most important sackings done by the Geist was of Valir and it was Prince Aerath who done it. He was a dumb and lost it to Prince Yussa, but it became the capitol for the old Geists. We wouldn't have had our first prince or our first capitol without Prince Aerath."

Malachi found himself surprised that Hailey took a turn before him, and even more so that she actually paid attention when they studied together. The little Fallen was pretty proud of his friend and even gave a smile as she finished her answer. He wanted his turn now and raised his hand.

When he was called on, he stood and spoke quietly. "My favorite historical figure is Saint Yurie." he started softly as always. Malachi felt a little worried since his favorite kept Geist out and hoped that Hailey wouldn't be upset. Taking in a deep breath, then then let it out and continued. "Yurie protected Cassiel's Watch with a magical barrier and he died because it took so much from him. He was sainted for the sacrifice he made for everyone." Feeling a little shaky, Malachi took his seat then smiled over at Hailey, who smiled right back at him.

Hikito barely waited til the pink fallen before him had sat down before he jumped out of his seat to tell his favorite. "My favorites from history are Prince Kora, Prince Laure, and Prince Ulli. They stole the entire city of Alcyone from the baphomets. They only had it for like two nights, before they were kicked out, but they gave back all the stuff they stole when they were done. It was the first time anybody had done that to a big city, and they had just wanted to see if they could do it than keep all the stuff." Chest puffed out, Hikito sat down with a prideful feeling. He had just learned about that the other day and was extremely pleased that he had remembered it.

It was Aten's turn to talk about the courting ritual that he liked best. It wasn't really his favourite, but it was one that specifically pertained to him. Despite all his blunders he had never actually been able to implement the traditional courting rituals of his own people. Likely because the times it would have been relevant it went against who he was as a person at the time. Were you even allowed to use it on other races? Some of the racial courting rituals were very different. But when he really considered it, he could tell where Smolder thought too little of Aten's affections when he was younger ...

"I guess ... Imps is what I choose." Aten flashed a charming, but humble smile, flicking his tail reflexively . "With Imps, it's really hard to tell. You can't really assume anything of a traditional Imp because as a people we're known for being highly affectionate, no matter what your status with us is. You could be my friend and I could kiss you and mean nothing by it. Or I could hold your hand as a love interest and it could tell you everything. Imps are also the most likely to be polyamorous. I guess it's because we're known to love so effortlessly and at times impulsively. Kind of like collecting them all, I suppose." Aten chuckled at that.

"That's really all I know about courting with Imps. There is no real 'ritual' as there is just a way of being with us."

Pepper waited til she was called on to stand up and speak. "My favorite historical figure. . . is Miss Ava," she began, hesitating. Did they count as a historical figure if they were still alive? "She's doing a lot of good things for nightmares, like letting the nixie come here and live and taking on those scary grimm that came to take our grimm away. At least, I think she counts as historical . . . doesn't she?" The question slipped out. "Cuz if not, I don't really know any historical figures that I like all that much. Most of the ones that did exciting or great things are from other races and all the famous ones that were demons are known for not so nice things. Like the princess who got stolen that started the war," she explained her reasoning, moving to sit back down. If Miss Ava wasn't a good enough figure, then the teacher would just have to make due with what she had said. History was definitely not her strong suit.

[since Charmstar and Pepper asked a question ; DD]

Tethys nodded along with what his students were saying, all of it was very good! He was proud they remembered as much as they did. "I agree, Charmstar... It's good... to have so many different people coming together..." He offered the freshling a small smile, and then looked to Pepper. "Oh yes, Miss Ava does count.... Historical figures don't have to be dead.... Anyone who changes or affects history counts... Miss Ava has done a lot in that regard. You've all chosen wonderful examples so far."

Today's topic excited her. Cassie loved a chance to flaunt what she knew, and while her decision was totally cliche and predictable, it was where she felt most confident. Maybe she was cheating a little because she didn't have to put in much research but whatever. Senior year, right?

"I choose the Fallen because there aren't many of us in this class," she offered with a warm smile. She thought that was true, she couldn't think of many other Senior Fallen that weren't hybrids at least. "Many seem infatuated with our feathers, but I don't believe they understand that sharing feathers is often a sign of romantic interest." Cassie's words were firm, having no qualms about sharing with the class. She hid away any frustration - she remembered a few faces in her junior years that had been fascinated with her pink feathers, or how embarrassing it had been to turn and see someone completely unfamiliar holding up a feather that had so casually shed in public. Now she understood it better and knew the gesture was what counted, but it didn't mean it wasn't something that caused her young heart to panic in the past."Fallen give their shed feathers to their beloved as a little reminder of themselves. Other than that, Fallen courtship is rather quiet and subtle. I would say it is more like something that happens than something that is acknowledged very publicly."

She clasped her hands in front of her, still smiling bright. "So yeah, that's all that I have," the pink-haired Fallen concluded before settling back into her chair.

Social Studies... Prometheus was quite suspicious of this, specifically how well it would talk about races that weren't Demons. But, the teacher was a Geist so maybe things might be a little less... biased. Then again, he didn't know much about Geists outside of the information he was sure was slighted against them that he'd gotten from Demon textbooks. At least, their negative traits seemed quite prominent in them.

He eyed his fellow classmates, and the mutated teacher, waiting for his turn. Since someone had already chosen a well known Litch figure, he'd go with someone else.

"I hev chosen Graven Frostfyre," he started, slipping up briefly on his attempt to stifle his accent. Ah well, he might as well use it. "Because he geyve the Imps a neew home, after it was taken from them by Demons. He did not hev to give up some of our homeland for that. It was a big sacrifice."

At first, Leif was a little intimidated by the teacher... but then he noticed his eyes were different too! He'd never seen a mutant doing something important before, so this was a huge boost to his self-confidence! He waited his turn, listening to the others... The Litch with the skull marking seemed... scary, he couldn't tell if he was happy about what Graven Frostfyre had done, or not.

"U-um, well, Imps make a lot of things and there are a lot of inventions that Imps came up with but... I can't remember any names so I chose Saint Mariel, because they solved a famine problem..! That's a really big thing to fix... So um... I think that was admirable..." He nodded, shrinking in his seat a little as he spoke. Well, at least it was over with!

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. Joseth hesitated for a moment, struggling on which race to pick for his assignment on courting rituals. Should he play it safe? Or should he take a step out of his comfort zone and research how Geists court? He was, after all, courting a Giest, and figured it would be advantageous to inform himself on their traditional courting customs. He half-listened to several other students in his class present before picking his topic and standing up slowly.
"I chose to research the Litch's courting ritual because I figured I should be knowledgeable about my own race." he said in his low, warm tone before clearing his throat. "Litches tend to be somewhat shy in how they present their feelings to others, and often become friends with their potential mates before advancing in the relationship. More confident Litches sometimes show their affection bluntly and analytically, but I'm not sure about how that would work out well most of the time." The ruby-eyed Litch punctuated the end of his analysis with a friendly half-smile before turning in his paper and returning to his desk.

Oh... governmental systems.... Neptune wasn't really sure he knew much on this topic. Well, he listened while Tethys lectured, and read the textbook carefully before making a selection.

"U-um... f-from what we learned about Grimm um... W-we live in packs- usually k-kind of big packs... a-and there's a Shaman who has a lot of um... magical talent... who keeps everyone safe... a-and performs rituals... th-their partner or p-partners are called A-Alphas, who also he--help." He nodded, fidgeting nervously as he spoke. "B--but there's only... one living example so... it could have been a little different in the past..." Ugh he hoped that was good enough. Of course he'd chosen a difficult topic, but he was a Grimm and he wanted to know more about his people! And he figured maybe others should know, too.
