Class activities:

Please pick the activity that pertains to your characters stage and fill it in by the end date! Thank you!

Starts: NOW
Ends: May 15th, 11:00PM PST

JUNIOR:

Intro to Sewing

"Today we're going to be learning some basic stitches to fix and mend holes you might find in your clothes. Clothes can be really expensive, especially when you first move out on your own, so we're going to learn a simple stitch to mend just about any hole to make your clothes stretch further."

Rules:
1. Roll a 100 sided dye. Check below for what your number means! Don't worry, you cannot fail!
2. Quote Ember-babe when you make a post.
3. Provide a short RP response to your roll.

Score System:

1-10 It took you almost the whole class just to thread the needle. The hole is just so tiny! Good thing you can't fail! Though, it does sound like you'll have to stay after class to get it done ... luckily the hole that was in your item was fairly small anyways.

11-20 Your thread kept tangling because you made the length of the thread too long. Time to problem solve!

21-40 You accidentally sewed on the wrong side of the fabric so all your stitches show! But the hole technically is sealed shut ...

41-60 Well, the hole is closed, even if the stitching on the inside is a bit unattractive. It'll serve its purpose!

61-89 Wow. This is pretty close to perfect. Are you sure you haven't sewn before?

90+ You actually had a lot of fun sewing and were pretty good at it. Though, you got a little carried away and sewed a sleeve shut. That was technically a hole too, right?

SENIOR:

Intermediate Sewing

"Today we're going to put those old sewing skills to use and we're going to make some plushies for the freshlings here at the academy! I'm going to teach you a few different kinds of stitches you'll have to incorporate. This will be a take home assignment!"

Rules:
1. Roll 1 100-sided die. Look below to find out what the numbers mean! You cannot fail!
2. Write a short RP response that you came to class and how your Nightmare handled their assignment. What struggles did they run in to with their plushie project?

Score System:

1-10 You lost a bunch of pieces for your pattern and had to improvise. The ears are two completely different sizes and one arm is considerably thicker than the other and there's a few holes in the stitching, and sometimes the beans used to fill it just fall out if you don't sit it upright. But that just adds character, right?

11-20 You made so many different versions because it wasn't 'good enough' that you ran out of fabric, so you borrowed some from a classmate and made a patchwork plushie instead! Hopefully the clashing textures won't be displeasing to a freshling.

21-40 You only used one kind of stitch because you couldn't quite grasp the more complicated ones. Luckily the visible stitches work quite well with the design you chose!

41-60 You got fed up trying to hand sew the plushie and instead ran it through the sewing machine, which you weren't supposed to do. The plushie ended up being half the size it was supposed to as a result, but at least the project is done, and ahead of time!

61-89 Hey, this little plush turned out pretty okay. Good job!

90+ You made so many plushies! Like. Way too many plushies. You could open up a plushie adoption service for the freshlings at the Academy with all the plushie you made. Good job, overachiever!

THERE IS NO FAILING. Just fun prompt to play with~

Joseth entered the classroom ready to learn, but was met with a crazy-enthusiastic Chimera for a teacher and a daunting lesson that was supposed to seem easy. The poor litch was nearing the end of his Senior classes and was incredibly uneasy about graduating as quickly as he could that he was stressing over every detail he was confronted with in every aspect of his life. Maybe the teacher was right, all he needed to do was breathe and let go. The moment he shut his eyes though, faces appeared in his mind reminding him of assignments he had to complete and deadlines he had to meet. He tried to steady his breathing, but was having a considerably more difficult experience than the rest of his class. It took him about half the period to deep-breathe the stresses away and clear his mind enough to report his progress to the teacher so he could get on with the classes he had to finish on the road to graduation.

Lior listened as the teacher explained the activity.... and immediately felt discouraged. He would have a really, really hard time completing this not because his management was poor, but because he was completely blind! With a sigh, he felt around the items to measure their size, as well as the jar, and then tried his best to make it all fit....

He'd just barely gotten it all to work, with only some small spaces inside. Apparently that meant he'd be ridiculously stressed? If anything, this assignment stressed him out.

"I hope this is okay Ms. Talfia, I tried to feel it out but some things just don't work that way I guess!"

Talfia peered down at the jar in front of Lior, questioning it curiously. Couldn't they see it? That was kind of a dumb question. A nearby student was watching quietly, as if waiting for Talfia to screw up. Granted, Talfia was new. How could she have known ... ?

"You tell me." she said almost saucily, shoving her hands in to her pockets. "What do you se -- " the watchful student kicked Talfia in the ankle, and she let out a small roar of pain, whipping around to stare at the student with clenched fists. "Why wou -- ?" The student gestured to their eyes, pointing at them before covering them with their hand, then removing them, then gestured to Lior.

Talfia flushed bright red, rather embarrassed over her nearly disastrous mistake. The woman whipped around, scooping up the considerate student's jar which was half empty and knocked Lior's jar off their desk with a strong swing of their tail, sending the jar and its contents sailing across the room, smashing against the wall with a loud SMASH.

"UHMOKAY WELL--!!" Talfia panicked, placing the replacement jar on the desk before Lior, much to the other student's chagrin. "Just. Here." She took Lior's hands and placed them on the jar to let them feel around. "Feels good to me! Yay, you pass! WAHHOOO. Flyingcolours. Ahahahahaa." Talfia laughed nervously, then took a step back. The student who had pointed out Talfia's mistake tugged on her sleeve for attention, opening their mouth to complain about their jar being stolen, but Talfia just shot them a glare and hissed a whisper.

"Keep quiet and I'll give you a full pass for the entire class. IF you stay quiet." The nightmare let go, seemingly pleased about that. And Talfia resumed her awkward smile at Lior -- not that they could see -- and slipped off before they could offer a response to their teacher.

Lior listened as the teacher reacted -- apparently she hadn't realized that he was blind. Great. He loved it when they got awkward about that...

He sighed, knowing she was just making an exception on account of his disability... He reached out for the new jar and--.....

This wasn't his jar.

An immediate frown came to his face as he realized that she had replaced his jar with some other jar and called it a good thing. As if he didn't feel bad enough already! He shrank down in his seat, deciding not to say anything about it. She was gone anyway.

She made a show of breathing in and out and closing her eyes and doing jazz hands, which ironically made her look more stressed than relaxed. In the end, the chimera just laughed and stretched her limbs out, her body posture loose and carefree.

Like usual.

User ImageOh, yay, a time management class. Chries's favorite. He didn't say a word, merely collected his jar and started filling it with objects. Big ones first, small ones next. The little plastic figurines he put in last, but he wasn't sure now whether or not that was a good idea...He had space left over in his jar, but he wanted to try again, see if he could optimize it better.

He was distracted from his work as a jar flew past his ears to smash on the wall next to him. He turned around and watched his teacher as she switched jars around. Well, that was hardly fair! Even if she was the one who had smashed it. What was that all about, anyway? He peered at the student she gave the new jar to. Ooooooh, Lior. Of course. That made sense. Chries shook his head and turned back to his work. He was smiling, and a chuckle fought to escape his lips. Oh my, Miss Talfia. Shame, shame. Heh. Everyone seemed to react that way to blind kids...

Zephyr eyed the jar as though it had offended him, and the objects provided even more so. This seemed like something a Freshling would have to put up with. Filling a jar with useless items, how was that useful at all? He supposed he could understand the purpose of the lesson, but still. It could have been better done using a pie chart or actual pie, preferably the latter. He actually liked pie.

"M'kay, rocks first, then... Wait a minute." He muttered, squinting at the rocks. He seemed to have a massive pile of rocks compared to the other things he was supposed to use. How was he supposed to fit all these rocks in? It wasn't like he had a puzzle in front of him and he could piece it all exactly where it needed to go. This meant he had to be careful, about putting strange objects in a jar, which was already weird to him to begin with. Needless to say, he dropped them all in and did his best to arrange them in a satisfying order. Then, he tossed everything else in, not really caring where he shoved them. In the end, he barely had any room left to remove the things again, and simply shrugged his shoulders. Well, he'd done as Talfia had instructed...

"Here's my jar." He said, nudging it onto Talfia's desk. "... You can keep it, if you want."

Stress management... alright. Shaxio supposed he could get behind this. If only their new teacher would stop screaming. Honestly she stressed him out more than anything else! And he had a lot to be stressed over!

With an irritated sigh, he reached up to cover his ears and try to let go of his sources of stress-- homework, test prep, finals, making sure his roommates didn't trash the room........ He'd been doing so well up until someone started freaking out near by- who could relax with that going on!?

By the end of class he was only slightly more relaxed, but that would soon end, he was sure.

"Let's friggin' breathe" was certainly an interesting way to kick off class, but she'd seriously figured she needed this sort of class when she'd signed up. She'd always been prone to being tense and flustered... and... likewise going a bit transparent... but apparently she wasn't quite so bad about it as she'd once been.

She guessed she could thank Cammy for that. Breathe in... breathe out.... So basic sounding, but thinking about it, slowing down and actually concentrating on such a mundane body function actually was relaxing. It didn't come with the fun of going to the gym with Cammy, but it really did kind of work. Not too bad... not too bad. She'd have to remember this trick.

Ruddi suppresses a giggle, but stands up and then closes her eyes.
Breath in...breath out...
She listens to Ms. Talfia continue to talk off and on about stress management. Ruddi smiles slightly thinking that she kind of likes this teacher. A lot more entertaining than she initially thought walking in.

So the breathing excerise kind of worked, but being in a class makes a little more difficult to release an ample amount of stress with her peers in earshot.

User Image Frey stared at the jar and wondered what the best approach to handling things was. So the teacher had mentioned rocks first? Well it was a good a start as any. As he started piling the different objects into the jar, he realized that he did run into a few snags and had to take items out to start over again.

Luckily Frey finished before the time was up although thinking back he probably could have gone a bit faster. Still he had passed with at least a little bit of cushy time left over. For now it was good enough for him.

User ImageFit the. .junk into the jar with room to spare? Elliah could totally handle that. As soon as Talfia let them get to work she started separating the different things into piles. Not even five minutes into their assignment a jar hit the wall in front of them and rained glass and even more junk onto her desk.

Elliah startled, yelping and pushing away from the desk. "WHat the HECK?" She started brushing the glass bits off of her fur, hoping to get most of them off. She was most definitely not going to get a very good grade on this. For most of the rest of the half hour Talfia had given them, she tried to pick her things out of the mess on her desk. When there were just two minutes left to get everything done, she gave up and just shoved everything in. A couple good shakes of the jar had everything settled enough that there was a little space up top.

With a disgruntled snort, she took her jar and carried it right on the teachers desk. "Here, I don't want it," she said, dropping it lightly. Then she turned and went back to grab her stuff so she could leave. She was most definitely going to need to vent about this to her bff.

User ImageFigure out the optimal way to fit everything into the jar? Maeva gave the jar a wary look. It certainly didn't look like it would fit the assortment of things that Talfia had dumped onto their desks. With a sigh Maeva started to pick up all the rocks.

By the time the half hour time limit was up, Maeva had managed to fit everything into the jar, but there wasn't much empty space. If she hadn't spent so much time trying to organize everything before she put it into the jar, she probably would have had more space. Considering she crammed so many things into her actual schedule, it made sense that she'd have similar problems with her jar. Oh well, at least she had empty space in it.
