“A-A-Allergic? Don't be silly!” the yellowblood stammered, between a fresh round of giggles. “I just don't like it is all.”Kursha grinned. As if he would be convinced by such a half-hearted lie. He had opened his mouth to tease her further, when he felt the yellowblood's hand squeeze tighter around his own. His smile faltered in the dark. So, she really was afraid. He had come to that conclusion moments before on his own, but the sudden confirmation of it robbed him of any amusement at her expense. That in itself was a revelation. “It's hard to not be, um...”The yellowblood trailed off. Kursha clung to the thought. To not be... what? Afraid? Or something else? He half wanted to press her for an answer, but at the same time he could not bring himself to. So instead instead he merely shrugged. “Gotcha,” he said. He may not have understood her fear, but he did understand what it meant to hide it. When they reached the bottom of the steps, Elidae took the tips of his fingers and performed a twirl. Kursha stifled a laugh. He found he did not have a decent response, so he navigated around the boxes he remembered sitting by the stairs, and made his way to the control power. With his free hand, he felt around in the dark until he found a lever. A moment later, with a groan of electricity, power returned to the hivestem. He released Elidae's hand and turned to face her, grinning. “Better?” he asked.

Elidae's eyes adjusted as the lights flickered back on, illuminating the basement. Even while the place still appeared musty and cold, being able to see it in front of her made her feel more comfortable. After he let go of her hand, she gazed around with an animated twirl, a wide smile spread on her face. Once she turned back to Kursha, it grew bigger.
“Yes!” She chirped happily, cupping her cheeks with her hands as she looked up at him. “Ahh, you're the best! Thank you!" No doubt she felt grateful. Instinctively, the yellowblood wanted to motion in for what would have been a friendly hug, yet hung back with hesitance, another set of nervous giggles ensued. “Ah, um, have you been down here before? To have seen the brakers, I mean. I was here earlier and-" Something that couldn't be considered unusual, but without a doubt alarming, caught her eye. Blood. And not just one color, oh no. It was Kursha's olive blood, a shade she was all too familiar with, and then... blue. Elidae's smile wavered, a previous conversation she held not too long ago within the hour suddenly came to her think pan. It didn't take her long to put two and two together, but she couldn't stand the thought and attempted to suppress it. But... was that a bite mark?!
“What-what-Oh my gosh, what happened?” Clearly fretting, she faltered over her words as she looked him over as if trying to find the answer herself. Unfortunately, she had an idea, but wanted to know what he had to say before she made any assumptions. Finally her gaze flickered up to his face, her own concerned and mildly upset. “Kursha, what happened to your leg?” She gave him an imploring look. “Are you alright?”

Her express delight elicited a bark of laughter from him. If only most problems could be resolved so easily. Beaming, he leaned back against the wall, careful not to bump the lights again, and tried not to look to pleased with himself. When Elidae went on to question him about the brakers, he nodded. He missed how strangely she trailed off. “Yeah,” he cut in. “After the second outage, I made a point to see if I could find them. Two blackouts in one night is no accident, especially when...” At last he noticed her peculiar expression. “Hm? What is it?” Following her gaze, he looked down, down, and... Oh. “Tch.” Scowling, Kursha quickly slipped his bloodied boot behind the other. Not that it changed a thing. She had seen enough to make some assessment of the stains on his pant leg. Unable to meet her gaze, he looked to the ceiling instead. “I'm fine,” he replied. “Had a disagreement with one of the kids back in the central hivestem. To be honest, he had it worse. Still, I imagine he's back on his feet by now; probably shooting his ignorance tunnel off at Regina or something.” Kursha could only hope. Then again, if Leeroi did attempt to give the queen lip, Kursha wanted to be there to see it. With a sigh, he continued, “Most everyone here either has an agenda or doesn't give a s**t. It's a ******** embarrassment. I mean, could you be any more clueless? She's right there. Anyway...” Kursha ran a hand through his hair. His fingers briefly snagged and he tugged them free. Exhaling, he tried to expel his annoyance with his breath. “Just turns out I'm not very popular. That's nothing new though. I'll deal with it.” Suddenly aware that he had went on a longer tangent than he had meant to, he turned his gaze back down to Elidae. blackbird cake I am ready to slam out posts. ( ・`ー・´) +

As the yellowblood listened to Kursha talk, her head slowly began to tilt further and further to the side. Her eyes were wide, thankpan bemused. 'One of the kids'. 'He had it worse.' Elidae visibly winced, remembering seeing Leeroi briefly in the library with patched up injuries. Had Kursha really done all that? And what kind of disagreement that would result in both of them hurting one another? Elidae began to feel more and more upset. It took all of her willpower not to vocally whine in protest to the whole ordeal. Leeroi had given her a note with all his findings, but she felt unsure if she should hand it over to Kursha, considering the circumstances. What if Leeroi found out? Would he be upset with her? Kursha would make use of it though. Wasn't the case more significant...?
Pushing her thoughts on Leeroi back, she returned to Kursha specifically. He was visibly frustrated. Holding her hands together, she looked up at him concerned, forcing herself back from trying to comfort him. He was right, though, and she nodded along in agreement. The queen was in the vicinity; one would think everyone would be on their best, most focused behavior. However, her brow furrowed upon mentioning his popularity; wasn't he... important? She saw plenty of trolls address him as commander, though she supposed she hadn't really paid any attention to how they treated him. She opened her mouth to comment, then his gaze retreated from the ceiling and onto her. She froze. Then as if someone turned on a switch, she beamed reassuringly. "U-um, yeah! ... We should all be working together, so I agree! I mean, not about... not about that last bit though." Her voice slowly shifted into a small, caring tone. "Why do you think that...?" Before he could get a word in, Elidae cleared her throat and pretended to appear as if she just remembered something important.
"Oh! Hold that thought though, before I forget!" After bundling up some of her fluffy skirt, she began reaching into her pocket, but paused for a moment. "I'm wearing shorts underneath." She assured with an awkward giggle, then pulled out a sheet of notepaper, partially crumbled. The handwriting was clearly Leeroi Furore's. She stared down at it for a brief moment, a sickening feeling churning in her bilesack; maybe he wouldn't know it was Leeroi's? She feigned a smile, handing it over to him willingly.
"Someone working hard on the case was nice enough to give this to me! It has all the clues he found. Some of it I already knew, but there's some new information!" She urged with forced enthusuasm, then looked away sheepishly. "I was... I was going to give it to you when I found you next! I know you could make use out of it. I dunno what most of it means, truthfully."

As Elidae hiked up her skirt, Kursha snapped his gaze away and cupped a hand around his eyes, obstructing his view of her. “Hey! Wait—”"I'm wearing shorts underneath," Elidae said with a giggle. “Right,” Kursha replied, face green from embarrassment. He allowed his hand to fall from his face, and tightly crossed his arms. Nonetheless, he continued to avert his gaze, either to save his pride or out of a sense of modesty. It was only when he caught sight of Elidae offering him a slip of paper in his peripheral vision, that he looked back down at her. Curious, he took the crumpled page. Right away, he knew the owner of the note. How could he not, when he had read the same hand-writing not even an hour earlier? He even had a matching blood stain on his boot. Still, as he skimmed over its contents, listening to Elidae explain herself, he kept his face impassive. He knew better than to let on what he knew. “Not bad,” he said at last. “There's a lot of speculation here, but some good information too. You wanna hang onto this, or should I?” He offered the note back down to her. Of course he had already seen all of it, when he pried into Leeroi's notes before. She did not need to know that though.

While Kursha read over the note, Elidae searched his face for any sign of surprise, revelation, disbelief, anything. Much to her disappointment, he remained blank. Her smile wavered. Maybe... he already knew everything she gave him? There was a drop in her bile sack, the hope of being of use dissolved. Even if she wouldn't admit it to herself, she longed for praise and recognition. Perhaps she could find something better?
She bounced back as soon as he said something. "Good information" was... good! "Nope! Its yours!" Elidae chimed, rocking on her heels with a bright grin. Suddenly, she jumped and planted her feet on the ground, waving her hands frantically. "We should really continue searching around though! There isn't much time left!" There really wasn't, and with Elidae's determination, there was no time to lose. With a quick turn on her heel, she had already began making her way up the basement's staircase. "I'll see you later?" She called over her shoulder, waving him good bye.
The yellowblood suddenly skidded to a halt at the top. "Oh! Kursha?" Looking over the stairway, she turned to him, somewhat uncertain with what she was going to say while her gaze danced around and she bit her lip. There was a pause. Finally, she gave him a warm smile. "Thank you, again." With a another wave, she took her leave.
