Rinza’s eccentric, wild, and creative nature lent itself to Luka adapting the same. She is fond of stories, both hearing them and telling them and adds a little flair of excitement to even the most mundane of things by considering it with a twist. Boring, routine walk to school? Nay! Safari adventure in which passerby on the street are dangerous and often loud animals that will give chase if their nests are interrupted. She expresses her enthusiasm toward such things whole-heartedly and as loudly as she pleases. This is most wildly apparent in her youngest years, and though her outward exuberance will diminish as she ages, it will still be a source of ‘fun’ in her teen years and beyond.
With time it’ll become easier to focus her attention on things of a more realistic nature and in doing so, she’ll start to see where others have implanted their ‘creativity;’ concerning dragons, wars, other races, and magic as a whole. She is interested in engaging people with different views than hers and will ask questions, debate, attempt to get them to see her way, even if she doesn’t necessarily want to do the same. She’s stubborn in her own beliefs, but would rather be ‘right’ than blindly following faith. She will make concessions for well-executed points.
Or for things that are repeatedly, loudly, and adamantly yelled at her. When her father returns to her life, he’ll bring a new schedule with him, one that will make her reevaluate her previously murky faith. The most vociferous of Seren’s priests instills a tight, wary, almost fear of what should happen to her if she engages in activities that the great goddess deems as ‘wrong.’ And while this shuts down a lot of her more open inquisitiveness, she’s still free to wonder of things in the confines of her own mind- curiosities which she never expects to find a reliable answer to and isn’t sure she’d like it if she did.
She engages others with polite hesitance at first, cautiously testing the waters for things she finds undesirable or uninteresting. Most of the time, she’ll be run off with a dissatisfying stray comment or ‘too strong’ of any type of emotion. She prefers people who allow her to speak and act first and judges them based on the reaction they give her. She dislikes people who are stupid but also those who are smarter than her. Doesn’t want to be spoken over or have her thoughts written off. She doesn’t like ugly people or those who aren’t well-kempt. She rarely turns physically hostile, but will spit obscenities if she’s offended. Description: Apprentice Luka is a petite young lady with soft light silvery skin, long tendrils of bright teal waves of hair, and large round salmon-toned irises. She has a narrow face with a small, pointed, slightly upturned nose and thin lips. She is slight in stature, with little to speak of by way of muscle, girth, or height. As the rest of her, Luka's feathered wings are small and easily ruffled. The shorter top layer is dappled in salmon-oranges and browns, while the longer under-layer is white with speckles of a dusky gray. Luka is enamored with the high-style frills and gadgets of Ashen City's fancy ladies, and her clothing should reflect that. Background: As a child, Rinza wanted to be a hero.
She wanted to save people, fight monsters, protect the world from darkness and oblivion. When she became old enough to hold her own in combat, hardly more than thirteen years, she joined Seren’s army. She was rambunctious, undisciplined, eager to explore and fight and learn and make memories that were worth putting in history books. Unfortunately, she was deemed unfit to serve in combat and was kept on Serenia, so that she may easily be sent home if she grew too troublesome.
As young as she was, Rinza was entrusted with menial tasks; acquiring provisions, weaponry upkeep, hunting and escorting if she was very lucky and had a more senior guardsman accompanying her. She met a great many people that did a great many things and had a great many experiences. By the time she was fifteen, she had her own unofficial squadron. It was small, just herself and three others, but they were the type of close-knit comrades she dreamed of. Nyro was among them. And while Rinza never felt as if she was ‘saving the world,’ what she was doing was enough.
But before she realized it, it was too much. Despite her tender age, and the equally tender age of the man she dubbed ‘the father,’ Rinza was round with child. It was terrifying and exciting and new- And much more than she’d bargained for. Rinza was discharged from service in entirety, frowned upon by the army and her own family for her lackadaisical attitude concerning her duties and her honor. In an effort to spare Nyro, she cut him off, moved away, and lived alone for three years, toiling in alchemy and caring for her new daughter, Luka.
It was the best three years of Rinza’s life. It wasn’t easy. But she’d never wanted easy. Luka became her ‘world,’ and it was a world more deserving of protection than the one she’d previously lived in.
That being said, Luka quickly adapted to having the run of things. “No,” “stop,” and “don’t” were rare and sparsely used, generally only coming into play when the toddler was in imminent danger of severe injury. When Nyro returned to her life when Luka was three, she was unprepared for his slew of concerned hesitancies. “Don’t stand on the table, Luka.” “No sweet buns for dinner, Luka.” And by the time she was of an age to send to school in Ashen City, “It’s time for bed, Luka.” “Don’t forget your homework, Luka.” And, her personal least favorite, “Do your chores, Luka.”
Fortunately, adapting to her father’s concerns was easy enough. She could simply ignore him in the times he was around and think fondly of his nearly humorous attempts to “set her straight” while he was away. Which was often enough in her youngest years. He still held obligations to the military, meaning he departed frequently and for long enough that the young girl could coerce herself to tolerate him while he was around, if only because her mother was very, very good at tolerating him in all kinds of ways.
As Luka reaches her eighth summer, Nyro is able to take up a more permanent residence with them, and slowly but surely, aspects of his life start creeping into the previously comfortable routine shared by Luka and her mother.
Thoughts on the Great Engagement: It doesn’t really feel like her war. She expects stories of battles long past were what excited her mother when she was little, but Luka herself feels extremely disattached from the whole thing. It almost doesn’t even sound real. Three great dragons making new races and fighting each other up in some incorporeal world? It is like a fairy tale. And as of yet, this is all it is to Luka. She’s aware of moving armies, if only because it was her father’s duty for most of her life, but she’s seen very little to suggest that there is or was a war.
Thoughts on the Dragons and Khehora: Momma said dragons leave their souls behind in little gems when they ‘die.’ How is that possible, and why? Nothing else behaves in such a fashion as far as Luka has heard. And are you really even dead if your soul is in a jewel? It seems more like they obtained a new body. A stationary body, but new and more beautiful nonetheless. As for khehora, they are… pets? They do not ‘die’ in the same manner as dragons, so they must not be nearly as special or powerful. But they have the same wide array of magics possessed by the dragons, and apparently some people can soul-link to khehora. It sounds completely absurd. ...But also incredibly useful. Luka would Bond in a heartbeat.
Thoughts on Oblivionites: In the picture books, they are ugly and cruel and heartless. They feed on the souls of little Orderite girls who stray too far from their mothers and fathers, and they live on a ghastly continent across the ocean. They’re snarky and witty and have no business being on Serenia. It seems unlikely that she’d see one here, anyway. Mum said she saw one die before. Luka expects killing an Oblivionite is similar to the way the kills bugs with toothpicks. Except on a bigger scale with more screaming and writhing.
Thoughts on Orderites: Orderites are what is ‘normal.’ There are beautiful ones, ugly ones, kind ones, mean ones, smart ones, stupid ones. They have the most variety and are most capable of building and maintaining a functioning society (other races are likely barbaric and uncivilised - how do they even live?). Having her race ‘rule the world’ just sounds unnecessary and pitifully childish. They maintain peace and order here, where she lives, so nevermind trying to dominate gross foreign lands.
Thoughts on Dovaa: Dragon children, living in nature and harnessing the powers of mud and beasts. They sound more disgusting than the Oblivionites, but perhaps their kindness and stupidity make up for it? Mum doesn’t tell many interesting stories about Dovaa.
Thoughts on Hybrids: Terrifying mangled creatures with the head of a dragon, the body of an Oblivionite, the limbs of a hastar, and the wings of an Orderite. Born of black magic and the tears of a hundred pale virgin women, hybrids are monstrosities. They feed on the blood of the pure and corrupt everything they touch with dark poison. They are incapable of rational speech and thought, and it is considered a great service to the world to dispatch of any hybrids, regardless of age.

Usable 3 times per encounter and when INT > 20. Costs 15 Energy. ● Gains Ability Light Shell - Create a magical barrier around yourself, energizing you for 20 Energy instantly. If the time of the RP is morning or the fight is taking place in Serenia, it energizes for 30. Can only be used 1 time per encounter (when INT > 25). ● Gains Ability Reflect - Create a wall of light to reflect one attack back to the attacker. Usable 1 time per encounter and when INT > 30. Costs 10 Energy. ● Grants Ability Blinding Light - Blind your enemies for 2 turns, lowering their accuracy by 20 points (ie: Apprentice Accuracy is 1-50 miss, 51-100 hit. They now have a miss anywhere from 1-70, and a hit from 71-100, etc). Usable 1 time per encounter (when INT > 35). Costs 20 Energy. ● Gains Ability Ball of Light - Turn yourself into a ball of light and move quickly through the air. Usable across bodies of water. This can only be used out of combat and during the day. When nightfall hits, you instantly turn back to your normal self. Usable when INT > 35.

NPCs ❤Nyro (Dad): Father. Expert Warrior. Blacksmith. Ex-military. Short Description: The blue-eyed man of the family, with only a very slightly more thoughtful head on his shoulders. While he is more careful and more concerned about his daughter’s well-being, he is also much quieter than his wife and tends to have much less of what he says heard. Any wisdom he imparts on his daughter is usually said in the Rinza-free zone of his blacksmith workshop. Unfortunately, the building is a little too hot for Luka to spend much time there. Luka’s policy regarding her father is generally to ask his opinion so he doesn’t feel disincluded, and then ignore whatever he says in favor of her mother’s wisdom. Fathers are good for climbing on and throwing their daughters in lakes. But not much else. 'Feelings' ❤Rhyselin (Rhys): Ditzy best friend. Same age as Luka. Unchosen path. Short Description: Rhys is a young girl Luka befriended during her family’s semiweekly visits to beg Seren’s blessing. Rhys is pretty, but incredibly stupid in such a way that it comes off as insanely obnoxious. It isn’t noticeable while they’re very young, but once Luka is old enough to be becoming more aware of people and their habits and what is ‘normal,’ she starts to wonder if Rhys is all there mentally. Rhyselin is still her best friend, and Luka will make her best attempt to defend the other young Orderite from pranks and laughter, however, as she ages, she begins to feel embarrassed just to be sharing Rhys’ company. 'Feelings' ❤Rinza (Mum): Mother. Expert Warrior. Alchemist. Ex-military. Short Description: Exuberant, spirited, and loud, Rinza is more akin to a sister to Luka than a mother. Fitting, since there is only a sixteen-year age difference. Rinza herself doesn’t seem to have the firmest grasp on parenthood. She is not a practiced problem-solver and doesn’t usually have an answer for any of Luka’s ails. She speaks to her daughter as if on equal ground and never gives particularly firm orders. She is not an advocate of ‘safety’ and has a bad habit of encouraging questionable new things. She gets very excited over accomplishments and loves to celebrate almost anything. Luka is a mama’s girl and has inherited all of her looks - save eye color - from her mother. 'Feelings'
