Milo frowned down at the older woman that was laying there on the ground. She looked peckish and feverish from the looks of it and even in her unconscious state there were beads of sweat gathered at her forehead. He had checked for a pulse, but her general state of being he was unsure of. This was Noemi's state of expertise, not his. He just hit things.
Noticing the gloves in the loops of her belt, Milo carefully placed them on her hands for safety and checked her persons for anything else that could be of use in helping her. About the only thing seemed to be a radio and when he flipped it on he heard a slew of colorful voices on the other end - and so many familiar ones too. Awesome, he was keeping that for now.
< Get going, I don't like the feel of this place, aho. > He could feel the unease in Koume's voice as he gathered the old woman up in his arms in a bridal style. It would be easier for now to head back to the portal.
It proved a little more difficult and he found he had to work a little more in order to carry her.
< What, all those offsite missions made you soft? Pfft, you've been laxing on your training, dumbass. >
"Nah, I think its this place..." Milo countered, shifting his weight a little bit to ease the cargo in his hands. It had to be the fog, he had been off island plenty of times and hadn't felt a problem but now here he was surrounded by the thick of it and feeling weaker than usual. It could also be the vines, he gathered, still not liking the looks of them. Familiar, hostile looking, pulsing. Bad signs.
Milo began to wish he hadn't wandered too far from the portal, and what made it worse was that he was hard to tell exactly how far he even was. It was just grey... everywhere.

The journey back hadn't been as terrible as he had thought it to be but when Milo saw the glow from the portal he sighed in relief. In the least, it meant a completed job and hopefully some medical attention could be given to his precious cargo. He had to commend the woman, at least, for managing to survive... whatever she had survived. Because from the state of the buildings around him, well.. s**t.
Still with her in his arms, he crossed the threshold and braced himself for transport. His intentions on the other side were to quickly call for a medic, but before he could even inhale for the breath needed he realized he was not where he was supposed to be.
No, it was completely wrong. A long broken highway with large broken buildings and skyscrapers all around. Milo stared, a little worried and tried to free a hand to get to his radio to call for support, or answers... or something. Before he could, however, the ground began to shake and when he turned about to locate a source he came gave to face with a giantic horse.
s**t, was that horsemen?
< I don't think so.... > Koume offered, though not much else.
It also didn't look like anything his Power Ranger imagination could supply, though when it was not bipedal, it made it a little more difficult.
< I think you should run.>
But he didn't, he stood, watched and observed as the giant horse creature unraveled just a little bit. As little tendrils began to make their way over to him. His eyes grew fixated on them as they moved. He'd have to put the woman down to defend her.
Is it not natural for you to accept us?
He saw horrible flashes of memory, so many screams and so much fear. Milo nearly dropped the woman right then and there as he took a step backwards and closed his eyes. s**t, this was overwhelming. There was so much pain, all flashing seconds at a time like a horrible flip show.

Milo snapped to, the tendrils so close now and causing his head to spin even more.

But there were too many of the little hands near him. Milo sneered and placed the woman down as quickly as he could manage to summon his Naginata. He spun around and quickly dispersed of the ones so close to his feet. Then then stabbed downwards to the ones that were trying to reach his rescue mission.

His need for his usual flourish turned to be a little bit of a downfall and a misstep as the naginata didn't connect with his next targets. The tendrils withered out of the way, evading attack.

Evasion to attempting to exploit a window he had managed to make. The reached out, trying to grab hold but Milo spun the blade down fiercely and took out a large area around him and the woman.
Apparently his strength had returned in full force. He used the opportunity to grab hold of the older woman once again and looped an arm around her waist and hoisted her over his shoulder. Milo leapt forward, the opposite direction of the big creature and made a run for it with Koume still summoned in his hand. Just in case.

Out of the corner of his eye the skyscrapers exploded all around him, the vines had begun to grow making the situation all the more dangerous. "Haha, awesome. A giant horse thing and those ******** vines!" Poetic almost how many things at once were trying to kill him. But then again it all came for this line of work, must be a Wednesday.
The fog crept back in, making it a cherry on top of an amazing cake. Milo could feel his muscles begin to weaken as he tried to keep going on simply his two legs alone. Everything began to ache and he was forced to desummon Koume back into her pin just in order to keep his mind on his objective and keep heading forward.
But even then it grew tiresome.
Maybe one of the cars still worked. He spared a glance and a moment to pause and look around him. This was a highway, there were lots of abandoned cars. Did any of them work? Well, he'd find out. Milo hopped towards a small cluster of them, tried a few doors to no avail until one finally popped open.
A Ford Focus.
Not too bad, had its keys still in the ignition and a bit of gas. Was a stick shift though. "Beggars can't be choosers," he muttered to himself as he pulled open the back door and put the woman into the backseat as gently a throw could manage.
He got in himself, didn't bother with a seatbelt and started the car up.

Having never driven a manual car in his life - it had been on his list of things to learn when he was still just a normal human being - the first thing he pretty much did was floor the thing.
"s**t." He revved up the engine again and shifted the gear to what seemed like the right thing.
He went in reverse at first before he shifted the thing again, pressing the pedals at random to try and figure out which was the gear changer in the first place.
The slow learning curve cost him as the large horse managed to catch up with him, slamming a few tendrils into the back of the car and causing both driver and passenger to slam forward.Quote: Speed: +3 Distance: 4/10 Milo's HP: 45/50 Juliette's HP: 45/50

The engine didn't feel right, didn't sound like it was doing much better either. It felt like it was struggling and Milo realized a little too late that he should have shifted the gear once again. The monstrosity caught up with them once more as they chugged along and slammed hard into them.

Of course he started to get the hang of the whole thing when he was almost home free. A portal was sighted not too far off. Milo's foot slammed into the gas while the other tapped furiously at the changer and he shifted gears.
And he overshot the thing. "s**t!" It was time to now slam on those breaks as he gripped the wheel and turned it as quickly as he could to back track. (He was beginning to wish he had at least watched a few more of the Fast and Furious movies).

The car seemed to be smoking a bit from its little adventure, but Milo paid it no mind - along with the mocking comments Koume was making about his driving skills. What was important was that he was finally close to where he was supposed to be and had to get this woman through the portal to safety.
Milo threw open the backseat car door, reading to pull the woman up and out but apparently she had other ideas. Maybe the ordeal had jogged her awake or it had been enough time for her to come to on her own, whatever the case, she grabbed onto his arm and squeezed.
"Who are you?!" Juliette turned wild tired eyes to the boy, breathing heavily.
"Aa, wahine, I'm here to help!" s**t, her grip was strong. Milo tried to keep a smile on his face, tried to look calm and helpful to her. But maybe it sent the wrong impression because she was pushing herself forward at an impressive rate and tackling him to the ground.
"No.. no, no more!" She cried, pressing her palm into Milo's cheek in some vain attempt at something. Obviously she had never really fought in her life, had no idea what to do and seemed more to be lashing out like some scared and confused child.
Milo did his best to push her off gently, but the woman had some impressive strength behind her and all he could manage to do was grip her by her arms and squeeze. It at least got her to stop but she still struggled in his grip. "Heyheyhey, calm down, ya! I'm trying to help you out, trying to get you out of here."
"Fake.. all fake... hallucinations..." She muttered under her breath, shaking her head, trembling and with her eyes shut even as Milo pulled them both to their feet. What had she been through, he had to wonder.
Hopefully someone could take care of her on the other side, he sighed as he gently tugged at her to follow him.
But to where, he didn't know now when he looked up and noticed the portal to be completely gone.
Well. s**t.
"Aha.. we're gonna have to find a new way 'round." Maybe not a good time to laugh.
