OOC

Character's name: Johnathan Nordskov
Character's faction: Apartments
Character's journal link: Journal
Character's survival stats: Stats
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF MY CHARACTER:
Mr. Nordskov is always gruff and straight to the point, in a constant state of disgruntled disapproval. Despite this solitary attitude he has little desire to see anyone hurt. Seriously at least. Physically, the 60 year old is tall, well muscled with arms like tree trunks, sporting a bristly woodsman beard and piercing blue eyes glaring out from under bushy eyebrows.

Oliver could barely see the portal through the fog. He wasn't far away, but the man he found was massive. A huge giant of a man, with a bristly beard, easily taller and twice as muscular as Oliver himself. The kid's shoulders slumped. It wasn't just the task making him feel hopeless, something about this area was making him feel tired, sluggish, like he had already run around the island once or twice and was ready for a nap. He had no caffeinated beverage to help get him going again, so he had to muster up the energy through willpower alone.

Keeping an eye on the old man and where he lay, Oliver began to circle around the area, searching for anything that could help out. In the area immediately outside the hospital where they were located there was very little. Mostly cars that couldn't be unlocked, or dying plants... Until he came across a pile of sheet plastic. A tarp or something.

Oliver nudged it with his toe, and then once he was convinced nothing would jump out, he grabbed the edge and gave a tug. A soft clatter disappeared into the foggy air as supports clattered and fell free. It looked like the hospital had set out some sort of tent at one point. A quarantine tent? He couldn't be sure, but when he gave it a firmer tug he saw the material ripple under a month's worth of dust and debris. He pulled a small pocket knife out of one pocket, and hastily began to slice off a large portion of the plastic. Perfect!

Scurrying back with his 'tarp', he laid it out on the ground next to the old man, and grabbed one of his arms. Oliver half rolled, half dragged the civilian until he was resting squarely on the tarp. The effort confirmed his earlier theories, two yards would have been impossible trying to outright carry or drag the man. But when he put all his weight into it... the plastic began to slowly slide across the ground.

Oliver leaned harder into it, glancing behind him occasionally to make sure he was still on course for the portal. And then finally he was there. With one more heavy tug, he would be on the other side, rescue accomplished!

...

Yet on the other side he was clearly not safe and sound. Oliver looked around, the pressing fog was no longer present, but the state of the skyscraper made that nervous little voice in the back of his mind remind him yet again of how much in danger he was. How much in danger he ALWAYS was.

Then he saw the horse thing.

(Which car, Oliver???)

Quote:
6. A very brand spanking new Ferrarri Sports Car. What a shame. What a crying, crying shame. You drive it because if you didn't it would never be as loved or as appreciated as it should be. (SPEED VALUE +6).

(Nice choice.)

Oliver dragged the man for a couple of feet before looking around frantically for something, ANYTHING that would help. Then he saw a car door open a crack. Keys in the ignition.

When he turned it on, the engine sprung to life. The hardest part was getting the old man in, He somehow managed by opening the passenger side door, and dragging the tarp in from the other side. His giant civilian barely fit. But he did. Somehow. Oliver was too panicked by the approaching monstrosity to pay attention to leg room.

Despite no formal driving lessons, the kid was pretty bright. He could figure out where the gas pedal was. Five years ago he would have been stranded amidst the fine nuances of stick shift, but this was a new model, and automatic transmission was kind to the kid. The whiplash from gunning it in reverse to clear the jam it was in, that was merely a minor test run. When he hit drive, it was hardly any different from the racing games.

Distance: 1+6 = 7/10 KM
HP: 45/50

Oliver drove as fast as he dared, but the giant horse was... well, a horse. Horses had been built over centuries to run fast, and this crazy, vine-covered one was no exception. It's tendrils just barely caught the back of the car, shaking up both it's occupants. After a moment of squealing tires the back spoiler came loose and the car zipped onwards.

Distance: 7+ (2+6) = DESTINATION~
HP: 45/50

The little sports car somehow outpaced the large beast, it was no longer visible in the mirror when Oliver's headset began letting him know the portal was approaching. He slowed the car down, and finally came to a stop. When he staggered out, it was on shaky legs. His heart was racing. But... they were here. At the portal.

Oliver couldn't see it right away, he ended up hopping up onto the car itself for a better vantage point... And the moment he spotted it, he heard a thrashing within the car. Suddenly a massive force clamp over his ankle. The man he had rescued had finally woken up. And he wasn't friendly.

The boy panicked as he was dragged forcefully off the roof of the car. Had the old man left the car rather than leaning out the window, Oliver would have stood no chance. As it was, his upper body hit the asphalt hard as he fell, and as he was being pulled up into the car, he kicked out firmly with his free leg. He felt his heel connect once, his trapped ankle twisting painfully, and then a second time. The old man's grip weakened just enough for Oliver to finish his fall, kicking against the side of the door and freeing his leg. He scrambled backwards, but the old man didn't open the door or lunge through the window.

Rather... he had once again returned to unconsciousness. Shaken and trembling, Oliver looked in the direction of the portal, but it was no longer there.
