She was fairly certain she was no longer being chased, but one could never be sure, so she kept moving. Forward, one foot after the other.
She nearly tripped over him. Or his leg, more precisely. ”Help,” he whispered.
Autumn nearly ran away. She’d not seen another soul in who knew how long, and it was possible they were really an infected.
”Help,” he said again.
“Um,” Autumn said, stepping closer and crouching, her hand scratching an itch on her knee as she did so, “What can I do? What do you need?” There was blood on his shirt, but she wasn’t sure if it was his or not.
”It hurts,” he said through gritted teeth, “It hurts so bad.” He moved, propping himself up onto his elbow. “And I’m so hungry. Food, water, anything. Please? Please?” A cough followed his pleas.
“Um,” Autumn poked around in her bag, “Here. I have no water, but I have some candy.” She lifted the bag out, opened it, and removed a piece. “Here.”
He took it with a smile.
Autumn put the bag down next to his hand, and then stood to leave. She had nothing to heal him with, no bandages or anything. She didn’t even know what was wrong with him. Scratching at her belly, she turned to go.
“No,” she heard him whisper. ”Please, stay. Help me.”
Autumn continued to scratch at her belly while she stared at him. “There is nothing I can do,” she said. He only coughed and winced. “There isn’t… but I guess… I guess I can stay a little while.” She moved to sit down next to him.
It was a little irritating, having him ask her to stay, since she wanted to be away. But she also felt bad. If she were hurt like this she wouldn’t want to be alone. Though she had already given him her candy.
But she was already sitting next to him.
”Thanks,” he said, forcing a smile. ”It’s tough to be alone out here.” He gasped in pain.
“Yeah,” she agreed. She could see it now, from this angle. The wound was in his side, bleeding. She wondered if he was going to die. She wondered if she could do anything. She looked in her bag again, finding an old useless scrap of something and she tried to put it against his wound.
He pulled away, shaking his head. They both knew there was nothing to be done. He coughed again, and mumbled something about missing the moon.
“Yeah,” Autumn said looking up, “So do I.”
There was nothing but fog.
”I miss a lot of things, though,” he said with another cough.
Autumn looked down, hoping to offer him a comforting smile.
There was nothing but fog. No man on the ground, no blood seeping into the grass. Nothing. No one. Her candy lay there on the ground, both where she’d left it and where his head had been.
She was alone.
Not alone.
Alone and she’d been talking to someone that was not there.
She didn’t want to be alone.
But you are.
[ PROMPT 11 ][ OUTSIDE ] Loyalty
Scenario requirements: A RANDOM NPC (make up a person!) is hurt in front of you. If you are rping in a group it is just ONE NPC character that is hurt (feel free to rp them out!) They are gravely injured and begin to beg for food and water. If you give it to them (DELETE IT FROM YOUR MINIS INVENTORY). Only one person needs to do this.
You may spend time nursing them back to health, or choose to ignore them and continue onwards. If you choose to ignore them, you take NO infection. If you choose to nurse them back to health, add +10 infection to your character's infection meter as you realize, after a while of talking to them, there was no injured person at all, and you have been talking to nothing
Whenever you rp from this point onwards, you will occasionally see them staring at you from the darkness. If you helped them, they say nothing, if you did not, they accuse you of abandoning someone to die over and over.
When the event is over, add +10 infection to your character's infection meter
Characters involved: Autumn Flint
Extra effect: flashlights? idk idk
