Chi was running around, hand-made plushie pile in her arms. The dainty junior was excitably handing plushies to the other students around her, wings flapping as the hybrid rushed about with a delighted smile. This week she had made a new plushie, a vespercat with jackalope horns. She was ready to change someones day with her new gift, and everyone was a victim.
Still, she was being rejected here and there as the students, who were probably used to her shenanigans, stated they already had about twenty of her plushies! Each time she'd pout until they took a toy, and then rush off to the next student she could find. So far, even after gifting about ten toys, her arms were still over-filling with plushies. She had just made too many!
Maybe if she went to the freshlings area she could properly dispose of her plushies! That and maybe they'd keep them as a friend for life? Her eyes lit up, rushing over towards the hall and, in her excitement she smashed right into someone much taller. Stumbling back, she slipped and landed on the floor, plushies falling like rain.
"Oooof!" She yelped, rubbing her back. "Oh, I'm so sorry!" She squeaked, looking up as she began to collect her plushies.

"I'll be back in a little while to check in on you again, alright?" Aten was crouching down on the floor in front of a small Fallen child, offering a warm smile as the little boy nodded his head shyly, unsure of what to make of Aten. The two had just been paired together in the program where a Senior could mentor a Freshling to help them settle in to Academy life. Aten had been one of students to benefit from this program's establishment, having met one of his best friends, Smolder, through the exact same circumstance. It seemed so poetic that Aten would be paired with a Fallen when his own mentor had been on himself. Aten silently hoped that the cycle would continue itself, starting to feel a bit nostalgic as he got to his feet. "Go and find your friends, little one!" The Fallen boy bobbed his head, suckling on one finger before twirling around to run away to where they felt safer.
The tiger-stripped Imp took in a deep, but patient breath. It would take some time, as it always did for the young one to adjust. But he would wait for him to open up to him. Aten felt confident he could play the big brother roll well.
Just as Aten turned to leave the Freshling area he was hit full force by something by something right in the gut. He fell back, catching himself on the wall with a heave, the wind having been knocked out of him. Aten's heart was in his throat as he panicked for a brief moment. Not for himself, but for whatever it was that slammed in to him. Was it a freshling? A familiar? Was it hurt?
It didn't take long for Aten to regain his sense of self-awareness, and despite the pain and his ragged breathing he straightened himself up as much as possible, one furry arm clutched to his stomach where the most concerted pain was, blinking around the room, realizing it was a girl who had knocked in to him.
"Ah--!" Aten stepped over to her instantly, kneeling down. "No, no! It's my fault, miss; no need to apologize! Please, allow me to help you up ..." Aten didn't want to invade her personal space, so instead of grabbing her arms to aid her to her feet, he simply offered his hands to her. He was just now noticing the sea of plushies all around them, one scrunched up under his knee. Feeling guilty for crushing it he quickly slid it out of the way with his knee and off to the side. "These are yours? Did you need help with them ... ? Can I assist at all ... ?"

The small hybrid was grateful when he extended his hand, large eyes flicking up to view the male fully. Oh, his markings were lovely! Flushing softly as she realized that he was not only tall, but really pretty, the little lady extended her hand and took his, allowing the help with a grateful smile.
"Oh, thank you." She hummed, releasing his hand to brush her dress off. She glanced down at her plushies, lips pressing into a frustrated pout. Oh man, she made such a mess. Bending over, the hybrid began to scoop her plushies up, head shaking.
"What? Oh, no no! I wouldn't even dare ask for help after I ran into you!" She flipped her wings to help hold the plushies, tail scooping a few stray plushies up and tossing them into her arms. Once she had them all she stood up straight, beaming up at the taller male. Wait, maybe he could help....
"Well, since you asked, I need help handing these out! I made them, but not a lot of people seem interested." She pouted again, red eyes batting at him in hope he'd help her. He looked popular with the freshlings! Probably someone in the Big Siblings program? Oh! She should have gone there first with her plushies! Oh, well, it was too late now. Maybe if she couldn't find anyone she'd head over there by tonight?

Aten hadn't waited too long to hear the answer to his question and went to pick up one of the plushies, but the girl was up and at 'em in no time, picking up all the scattered toys before he even got a chance to grab one. He didn't even have a chance to notice the hybrid's blush before the Great Wall of Plushies was once again built up tall. Aten couldn't help but to blink at the monstrous amounts of cushioned play-things the small looking girl was able to hold in her arms. 'Gosh,' he thought to himself. 'She seems ... awfully resilient. I suppose that's a good thing!'
When the pink-haired girl beamed up at him, Aten smiled back politely. "Well, if there's anything at all I can help with ... it seems like a lot to car -- "
"Well, since you asked ... "
Aten straightened at this, suddenly seeming that much taller, having switched gears to aid the girl to best of his abilities, waiting to hear what she had in mind, though his posture faulted a little when the tiger-boy heard this individual before him was the creator of all those plushies. "You made all of these?' Aten asked with mild shock, trying to clarify. "My, my ... ! I wonder, when did you find the time to make all these? Of course I will help you ... so long as I may help you carry them!" Aten extended his arms out to carry some of the load. "That's incredibly generous and kind of you ... to work so hard on all these just to give them away. Have you tried giving them to the Freshlings? I believe we have a lot of new additions to the Academy, and I believe the Big Siblings program is always accepting donations. Maybe we could put some in the common areas with a sign that says they are free to a good home?"

She watched him straighten up at her request, head tilting in curiosity and a small smile touching her face. Oh, that was comical. He was probably the helpful type, wasn't he? Lips curving into an amused smirk, the hybrid nodded at his request, a faint laugh escaping her.
"Mmm, I suppose I can part with my carrying duties a little." Timidly, she leaned forward so he could have access to her pile of plushies, cheeks flushing once more at his compliments. She never once considered herself generous, really. Her hobby of making and giving plushies had started young, and it had remained a hobby in her mind. She never once thought it was an act of kindness. It was more for her own benefit, even, as she delighted in seeing the excited faces of others when they received a new toy. Sadly, business was slow as a junior. Kids her age were growing old of toys and now the smiles were turning into concerned but polite frowns as they'd take a toy out of obligation. It broke her heart, and had spurred this epic pile of plushies.
"Oh, I make them whenever I have down time. Sometimes in class during a lecture." She had forgotten his earlier question, looking up at the much taller man with a rejuvenated smile.
"Do you think if we put them in the common area that they'd be taken? I didn't think of that! I just thought they'd be ignored!" And it was true! She was vaguely afraid if she wasn't the one passing them out that they'd end up in trashcans, or worst, still be in their box when she returned to check up. Large, heavily lashed eyes peered at Aten hopefully, an excited perk adding to her stature. The second he claimed a few plushies to carry she'd run off to set her toys up for an adoption service. Oh! Freshlings were always delighted to have plushies! She was, at least, as a young child!

Aten reached forward and scooped as many of the plushies in to his arms as he could, taking a few extra than he probably should have to try and lighten Chi's load. He chuckled softly to himself, his face turned to the right and pressed his cheek to a few of the plushies to try and offer extra support so he wouldn't drop them. "I don't think they'd be ignored at all!" Aten said reassuringly. "In fact, I think the younger students would be thrilled and excited. I think they'd believe that the Holidays had suddenly come that much sooner than they were expecting! There'd be tears of joy, perhaps even a few of the Freshlings will squabble over who gets which one. But if that happens, at least it means they will be well loved! You have nothing to lose by trying." Aten nodded decisively. "Which House did you want to drop them off at first? Or did you want to donate to the Big Sibling program first?"
Aten paused for a moment in thought as he waited to be told which direction to head in. "During lectures, you said ... my, my ... how busy you are! You must be truly passionate about making these. I admire that."

Her smile returned as he helped her with the plushies, tail swishing gently in appreciation. Her cheeks flushed in excitement as he began his hypothesis of how the students would react, eyes widening in absolute delight. Yes! That's what she wanted! Children beaming with joy! Her plushies finding forever homes! This was perfect – no, this was her dream.
"You really think so?" She whispered, the excitement taking over her ability to properly articulate. The hybrid beamed, glancing down at the ground as he complimented her. Suddenly, she was reminded just how embarrassing it was when others recognized her work. She didn't work for praise, but sometimes it was just nice to hear.
"Oh, thank you." The flush had darkened on her cheeks, head raising to give him a grateful smile. "Can we start at the Big Sibling progr- Oh no, am I taking up your time?" She cut off as she realized that not only had she assumed he had time to spare, but she also was intruding on his day. She had come barreling, literally, into him and then expected him to help solve her problem. When did she get this rude?!

"My time?" Aten blinked lucidly before shaking his head, giving a low chortle. "Nonsense! I would not have offered help or given suggestions if I didn't have the time to spend following through. You needn't worry about that. Even if I did have something else to do, it is nothing pressing that requires immediate attention. Outside of classes all I really do is mentor kids, so really, this could easily be a part my volunteer work. I am happy to help!"
Aten shifted the plushies in his grip so that he had a better hold on them. "Yes, I think the big Siblings Program -- as I think you were just mentioning -- would be an excellent place to start! Shall we?
This girl was adorable. Aten found himself smirking a little to himself, and while he couldn't necessarily see around the hoard of plushies in his grip very well, the girl had such a sense of innocence about her that he couldn't help but to blush a little, his cheeks growing warm. Once more, he shifted the plushies, tho this time to better hide his face.
"After you, my fair lady~!"

Chi beamed as he spoke, tail wiggling behind her as she flapped her wings. Oh, he mentored kids? She still wasn't sure what she wanted to do, but perhaps something related to children would be nice... That, or familiars.
She shifted the plushies back into her grip, using her wings to wrap around them for support before padding towards where she remembered where the program was. She kept her pace slow so Aten could follow her, trying her best not to whap him with her tail.
"Well, thank you!" She chirped, leaning her head back to smile towards him. "How did you get into mentoring children? I was thinking of doing the same, but I have so many classes right now."
