Cygnus had been alone for a very long time, she wasn't an elder or anything.. She was actually praticularly young. A young adult though slightly older than most of those she had adopted or made an aquintance, friends even, too. Cygnus also was an old soul by nature, a mother from birth and never a daughter to her parents. Her family left her by doing the unkind thing of dying at a young age so she grew quickly and learned to take care of others better than her family ever took care of her. She was not resentful though, and has never been the sort.

But lately with the news of someone she had the utmost consideration for had sort of opened his eyes to a love she envied.. But a love she was happy he had found elsewhere. But it really left her feeling alone. She had her pupil of course, a small Usidia who wandered to her from time to time and her first ever adoptive daughter Marianela who too sometimes found her mother in the large lands of Soquili. She had been noticing the night was quiet and she calmly stood far from any commotions, but possibly not far enough. Thinking and hoping for a day when she could raise little ones on their own instead of raising the children of those who either were left by their parents or were allowed to leave to find their own adventures with the guidance of secondary mother's eyes.

Her body shifted quietly and lonely in the deep forest, contemplating her time to stand along in the field underneath the stars. She always had conversations with them. But tonight she wanted to be alone without their judgmental eyes looking quietly back at her as she struggled.

Vistada

The stallion moved slowly--sluggish from bloodloss, from the gashes hewn into his shoulder and flank, the flesh torn around one hind leg, matting to his already stunning red fur. He wasn't the sort to give up. Maybe, once upon a time, he would've let the kalona who'd jumped him win. Would've, in his sorrows and his losses, let that beast tear him limb from limb.

Revel in the pain as it slashed through him, as the blood dripped endlessly from his wounds, as his body shuddered and withdrew, the pain numbing to a buzz as blackness overtook him. In another life, he would've rolled over and let the ground become his grave, flowers making a headstone of life after death...but Sikka wouldn't have wanted that.

Sikka would've looked him right in the eye, scowling that beautiful scowl, and she would've demanded he keep moving. And maybe it was the Sikka he knew, that whispery voice left in the back of his mind, that made him keep going. Keep walking, through the dull buzz of pain, through the scrambled fever of his mind as infection had started to set in.

So Sabriel kept going. He kept walking, kept moving, until exhaustion finally sapped him of what little strength he had and with a low groan, he buckled to his knees in the grasses of a field, not far off from where a certain celestial mare gazed up at the sky. His body shook as he fought the exhaustion, fought the voices in his head. And he tried to get up. Made it two more steps before dropping again. This time, he collapsed. "I'm sorry. So sorry," he whispered to the skies, to the stars beaming down on him. Sikka was among the stars now. Always a star. And he felt helpless, not for the first time in his life, but maybe for the last.

His head drooped, though his eyes--glowing with internal fire--burned brightly in the night. The only part of him that hadn't dimmed. He'd slaughtered that kalona with just his teeth and hooves, but in the end, what did it matter?

Cygnus's mind was filled with questions to the stars, of course it was one of those nights as said before. She was usually the star for others to help them get through the tough parts of their lives. But today her own star for herself was dimming out. She wasn't shy to the smell of blood, she knew its scent well. Her eyes opening larger and then moving to shift from her depth in the forest. She could hear something trudging towards her. The smell of blood letting her nostrils flare up.

It was new and of course Cygnus was the mare to go to, even if you were an evil Skinwalker she would watch from afar to see if the beast was alright. Moving through the thick brush she saw two dazzling lights of orange and yellow; much like fire or comets that fill the night sky every so rare night. She was awestruck but then the smell of blood came closer and closer and she saw those two eyes fall and speak to the stars much as she spoke to them. He said he was sorry.

As he stared up she would move her way towards the Wind, she began to notice his features. He was strong looking, and quite stunning. He made her think of a fire but yet still of the night sky. She slowly began, her braids in her hair tangling and dragging against the ground without catching on one twig and if they had she had no mind for it. Her mane grew like wildfire and for sometime she would crop it, but she had given up long ago. The hyper hybrid with little caution dipped her nose down to sniffle at Sabriel gently. "The stars have listened to your apologies my friend.. I feel they have listened to my own stories." She would speak and her horn on her head would almost glow softly. She did all she could to help close the wounds with her magic. What she couldn't, she moved her face up and around to inspect him, slowly and elegantly. Considering the damage and what she could do for him.

He rested there, gazing up at the stars that blinked and twinkled because life went on--it always went on. Even after Sikka's death, life had gone tortuously on. And he'd kept going, because he promised her he would. He wasn't a slave-bound colt anymore, but a stallion of strength and power behind each hoof beat. His wings were spectral things, things that had cursed him in his herd. He was born the b*****d son of the herd leader. Never accepted, never wanted. Not even by his mother. Not until Sikka. He closed his eyes on the memories, ears picking up the sounds of soft hoof beats but he kept his eyes closed.

Until he heard her voice, soft and silken and warm... He forced heavy eyelids back open to stare up at a mare of stardust and galaxies, a silvery spiraling horn jutting from her forehead. He blinked, taken aback as gentle eyes took him in, eyes as green as stormy skies. He didn't know her and she didn't know him, but as she touched her horn to his body, he felt it's magic. Soft, sudden, thrumming through him, stitching the smaller wounds up and scabbing over the worst of them, where the skin hung away from bone, shredded. He gasped out softly, wings pressing tight to his sides as her magic thrummed over him.

Calming him, from the inside out. As she went around him, she seemed to take note of his injuries, though the bleeding had already slowed and stopped. His eyes seemed to flare brighter as he watched her, intent on the patterns down her sides, the starmarks dancing over her multi-hued pelt. A child of the stars... "Of course they would listen," he murmured, his voice soft and almost husky. "You are one of them. A starborn child."

Her body moved around his after her healing capabilities were spent for the day. Her tail bobbed with her frame. This tail separated her from most unicorns, she had their hooves, a horn and their usual whimsical build but upon her rump sat feathers of a harpy and a tail of the cerynei. Though on further inspection her frame was not more cerynei than unicorn. She was a skinny and tall mare, though still smaller than Sabriel if he stood up. Her body didn't have much of a muscle build but it was definitely given a good case of stamina. Her long lithe limbs would not snap easy either.

She would hear him speak to her, her eyes looking back to his and she shook her head. "I was only blessed with their likeness." She spoke softly. "Born like any other Soquili.." With those words she moved to go and find some herbs and some mud from a small creek bed not to far off. Returning with some mud on her snout and the alfalfa in her mouth, Moving to place some before him she would patch up what she could, lowering her body to his shoulder that had the worst wound. Her hair dancing between them in the grass as she moved her muzzle against him. She had tired herself a little with the movement of using what ever magic was available to her. "I am sorry if this stings any my fellow star painted." When she was finished she would run her nose against the grass to dispel any mud and blood off of it. Looking him over once again with her eyes.

"What sort of danger where you getting yourself through?"

He heard her voice, musical, and a smile broke over his tired face. A smile because she reminded him of a time and a place in the past, though not so far back that it was painful. He dipped his head, muzzle brushing the grasses as she worked. He made no noise, not even a squeak, because the pain had dulled to a low buzz. She'd knitted together what she could, and was making clay compresses for the rest of his many wounds. But even as he closed his eyes, his ears followed her, intent on her every movement. He knew, in his soul, that she meant no harm.

"It is a beautiful blessing," he murmured, eyes still closed. "To be marked by the stars." His wings whispered over her muzzle as she worked, barely there things, but wings none the less. They were his curse--keeping him from ever taking to the skies--but they were also his gift. "Thank you..." His words were quiet, calm, gentle. His eyes opened again and he took her in; angular body and long limbs, built like a whisp, and her tail... It perplexed him and he paused a moment on his words to look at it.

He didn't move to stand, letting his body rest on the ground, exhaustion seeping over him. "Wasn't by choice, I assure you, Stargirl." He smiled, shaking his head. "Kalonas are tricky creatures who pop out of dark places. One was looking for a meal and instead found his demise. It's not something I do, but under the circumstance... It was him or me. I chose me." Though long ago, he wouldn't have. "My name is Sabriel. Sabriel Stargazer. Don't feel like you have to babysit me. I'll be okay, if you have places to be. Thank you."

He had a softness to him, though it was obvious to her that he was taught with muscles. His body was not rigid like those who battled and wished for her treatments though. His wings had caught her attention and she even sniffled at them whilst she was patching them. They did not at all cause her to think less of him; she did question their capabilities but she was not someone to judge. Her own back was wingless. To have them would be a gift in their own.

"It is yes, though when the blazing sun; a star in its own.. Hits my pelt sometimes it is too harsh against it." She complained a bit about being so dark. Though mostly her hair was the dark part. In the daylight Cygnus dazzled in many colours. She did take notice to his eyes on her tail. She bobbed it subconsciously. She was used to eyes being on it.

Once laying beside him she did not mind if he wished to stand or lay down though she would rather he lay there to allow his wounds to close. When he called her Stargirl she would chuckle femininely. Though his story drew her attention back, tilting her head softly. She smiled. "I have never been a cautious being.. I once would even try to hold a conversation with a Skinwalker. My parents and older brother once fretted over that aspect of me. So I am sure I would try to talk the Kalona out of eating me.." She touched the conversation of her family and she felt a bit hollow to the thought of her mother and father. Wishing her brother would travel back and return to her. But she smiled anyhow. "I think you were the better choice myself, Sabriel.. My name is Cygnus Nebulae." her face twisted into something gentle, caring and watchful. "I wouldn't be doing my true self any service if I didn't stay by you until your wounds start to heal. I have no places to be. If those who need me, need me; they will look for me."

Cygnus shifted and then looked up at the stars. "You are quite humorous in your own way. I see what you are doing. I guess Sabriel here is not the only one who owes you an apology."

He quirked a smile at her, letting his gaze run over the darkest parts of her, the parts that would absorb the sun. "Ah, but in the winter, it's a blessing, yeah?" He gave a husky chuckle, voice roughened, as if he didn't laugh much. Truth was? He didn't talk much. He never had anyone to talk /to/. He was as much of a gypsy as anyone else, going from place to place, hoping to do good. Hoping to save a few strays...except this time, he was the stray in need of saving. Irony at it's best--but he wasn't judging. Especially not when she lay beside him, her warmth a small comfort to the large stallion.

Her laugh was soft and musical, making his smile stretch wider. "I don't think a walker would be a very nice conversationalist..." he murmured, teasing lightly, his fiery eyes watching her expressions, the way her brows furrowed and lifted over olivine green eyes. "I'm not so well-versed in wordplay, Stargirl, and in the heat of the moment, when that beast was trying to rip me apart... You don't think. You just fight. Fight for your life." He grew somber. Because there was a point in his life where he wouldn't have. His life had been given to him, but it had meant little.

Until Sikka.

"Cygnus Nebulae," he echoed, liking the taste of her name on his lips. He quirked a brow at her when she spoke--first to him, and then to the stars. He followed her gaze up to the dark sky, milky with stardust. "And what are the stars doing for you, Stargirl?" he murmured, voice a low rasp. "But it's like you say... The stars will accept your apologies. We're stardust, you and I." His wings stretched out, brushing against her side, warm despite their lack of subtance.
