A sand whale has been spotted nearing the village sand harbour!. These creatures are extremely unfriendly and have been known to swallow entire buildings. Ring the gong, fire bombs, throw ballistas, do what you can to stop the sand whale!
- The sand whale has 200/200 HP. When it hits 150 HP it will leave and swim away.
- At the start of the battle roll 1d6. This is the amount of ballista shots your character gets. Every time you use a ballista shot, you do a perfect 10 HP damage.
- The sand whale does an automatic -1 damage to you every time you attack the sand whale.
gaia_star If you thwart the sand whale it drops a whale fin, it is considered a quest item. Add it to your quest item list
Aureole was half expecting another find-and-catch quest or for her to get their next meal or something. Nope! Apparently there was a rather large creature terrorizing their harbour. And they had tasked her with driving it away.
Okay! Something a little more exciting and a smidge more dangerous.
She made her way in the direction that the villager had told her to go. They, apparently, prefer to stay clear of that particular area. And after a quick run and a few shadow-hops, she understood why.
Leaping out of the sand from time to time was a humongous beast that... Was that a whale? By Jack, it was!
This was going to be quite the undertaking! That thing had to be something close to three times large than the bus! And they wanted her to take this thing down? Well, actually, they just asked her to get it to stop destroying their harbour but she doubted scarying it away like she was good at was going to do the trick. So... Maybe the next best things?

Fire bombs, more than a couple of ballista shots and a gong! This was going to be great!
This was probably going to be one of the rare moments in which she would thank her father for the many, many lessons he had her take regarding certain types of weapons. Ballista's was one of them as their castle did have it's own defenses. While old, they still worked.
She organized the armory she had, setting the shots in the corner with the bombs as far away from the shore as possible in case she needed a back up. But Now... Now was the time for some action.
With a huge grin spread across her face, she grabbed the handle of the mallet for the gong and slammed it against the circular object. The low, loud ringing vibrated the whole area. So much that Aureole herself was even shaking, from her arms down to her hooves and back up to her auburn-haired head.
"Time to take you on, beastie!" She laughed at the roar of the creature out in the sandy sea as she loaded up one of the ballista shots. She had to do her own 'shake down' of her body to steady it back out before firing off the shot.
It soared through the air and hit it's mark, sticking right out of the skin of the sandy sea creature. This didn't make the situation any less favorable as the tail of the beat came up and out of the sand, slamming down and sending a per verbal sand wave at her, covering her from head to toe and giving her body something to ache about for the next several days.

Aureole wasn't going to waste any time with this task. Cause frankly, she didn't have any! This thing was so huge and rather persistant in wanting to destroy this place. Why? Did they build it right on top of his home? Probably... But she needed to gain these creeples trust and this seemed to be one of the way in doing so.
Another ballista shot was loaded but she had to hold off on firing it as another wave of sand came at her, knocking her directly onto her bum. Spitting out the sand that had found it's way into her mouth, she aimed the weapon before firing it off into the distance, the resulting roar a clear sign she had made her mark.
"Hah! Another hit!"

Her arms were sure getting a work out. These were some older made shots. Made of far heavier stuff that they had back at her home in the mountains. But that just mean't they would do that much of a better job.
But that also mean't it was all the more important for her to pay attention to how she was loading the ballista. She raked her bangs out of her face before finishing the loading. And then, yet again, waiting as she was assaulted by another rough coarse wave from the sandy beast.
"Pwah! Quit that!" She spat before releasing another shot out into the sandy plains. She doubt it was going to stop but she could try. At least these shots were working out like she had hoped they would.

Another round of her fighting the waves of the sand whale and her needing to shake sand out of her ballista. Dang thing was going to get clogged with the amount of sand that was being thrown at her.
She didn't have time for this! A few quick shakes got the sand out of the ballista and she managed to get the shot in before being knocked back once again. Her hands dug through the sand and she got out, shaking her wings free of all the sand that had accumulated.
She aimed her ballista and shot the third to last ballista shot out into the sandy plains.

Her limbs her tired and haven't been this pushed in a long, long time. Arms aching, her neck and back cracking when ever she stretched for a moment to gear her up for the next attack.
And if the whale's lack of jumping, she was certain they were just as tired from getting hit by her shots as she was from loading them one after another.
"Okay... I'm gonna kick yer butt... Mister sand whale thing..." It was not joke she was getting tired if her lack of energy for her puns were running out.
But there was no way she was going to give up now!
A quick inhale and exhale and she was back to it. She loaded the huge spear into the ballista machine and fired before getting hit once more by the coarse waves. Where she had stood was now a large pile of sand.
A resounding roar echoed out, shaking some of the sand off of her pile before her wings poked through and she moved the desert dirt out from on and around her. The beast gave one more dive before swimming off away from the harbour.
"Yea- ugh ugh ugh!" She coughed the rest of the sand out after trying to cheer in her victory. As she started scraping her tongue of the gross crunchy sand, she noticed the glint of something in the sand... What was that?
She strode over to the edge of the sand shore and noticed a fin was shimmering against the few lights that were bouncing amongst the fog. Well, she got something out of that. And hopefully, now, she could possibly gain a little more recognition from the villagers.
