Mean while back at the Happy Days, after running into a strange anomaly that sucked the ship into another part of the galaxy, systems were finally back online and the crew was celebrating with a well deserved break and a little relaxation as the ship was in full stealth mode slowly circling an unknown planet slowly. Lucy the ships A.I. was not relaxing however as she tried to reach High Command and was getting no where, which put her on edge. It wasn't normal for an A.I. to run a ship without a captain or command crew buzzing about but Lucy did her best like she always tried to do. The ships system were now in good working order so even though she wasn't ready for a big fight at least she was ready to run like hell, the first steps however to finding a good defensive position was to lay mines having been fully restocked on her last supply run the ship at cruising speed dropped 2 hornet mines each 100 km away from each other then moved off to a distance to avoid detection from anyone caught in the blast of the 30 megaton charge. Her target for the mines was anyone (NEXT POSTER) dumb enough to run into them or unlucky enough not to see then before they flew at them.

((OOC: Basically my attack in case people didn't get it is a pair of mines that are set in the path of incoming vessels, I left a Wiki Link so people get the general idea of what the mines do which probably could have been a better link however it's the one I found.))

Came here to make an Aliens reference, rules forbid nuking it from orbit.

As the strange ship unloaded its offensive cargo nearby the planet it had been orbiting, the celestial body's native inhabitants responded to the threat appropriately. One of several A.I. made specifically for planetary defense, having detected the foreign ship and its payload, immediately informed the corresponding officer.

"Sir," it began, "I have detected a ship that failed to identify itself in the area."

"Well, what is it doing?" The officer replied.

"Its captain appears to be dropping mines in the region, sir."

"What a strange person," came the response from a perplexed officer.

And with that, Monty Python appropriately quoted, all reasonable measures had been taken. The only thing left to do was attack a random, completely uninvolved party for no apparent reason, and thus a small fleet was mobilized to fly right past the mines toward another planet and begin sending down drop-ships to deliver Imperial Guardsmen, armed with rifles completely out of place in a space-faring civilization. These troops wasted no time fixing bayonets and marching toward the nearest living beings.
