This happens to be something I have meant to do for a long time, and just simply never get to it. So it is quite about time now, don't you think?
As most probably know already, the writer behind this poet lives far off in the world from most, all the way over in Sweden. And plenty of her inspiration comes from lovely songs that she simply cannot share too easily, as few would understand the words. But as a hobby... she enjoys translating such songs, to the best of her ability, and finds it to be great practice, in many ways.
Therefor, this thread right here shall be filled with songs in Swedish, translated into English for my own practice, and for all to enjoy who might. emotion_bigheart
Feel free to stay and chat, but now if you'll excuse me... It is about time I finally get started on this long overdue project of mine~

Oh, it is ever so hard to know where to begin... But this song in perticular has always inspired me greatly, and I do consider it as one of the Freak's own themesongs, as we have spoken of before. This artist, Lars Winnerbäck, has so many beautiful lyrics that rhyme in the most fanciful ways, and this one is likely one of the best examples out there. Translating it will be a challenge, and to keep it rhyming a lot of the original meaning will have to be changed... But I do hope that you'll enjoy the beauty of it, nearly as much as I do. emotion_bigheart
You give away your laughter to whoever wish to hear The fairies have invited you to dance But even so, your eyelash clearly hides a salted tear In silence dance alone, a waltz of pure romance
In endless chase for just a friend Humiliation knows no end You give them more than they could serve For but a second to observe
Say who will give what you deserve? And would they dare to see like you? Will you ever make it through? And be thanked for what you do?
The night now sings a song of loneliness, it seems to me Where all the lights switch on and off to rhythm raw But a lost of tired child of broken world is all I see As you're tapping to the madness without flaw
You're she who blooms of no one's seed In heat and warmth as snow, indeed You dry your tears of none's request With no one's voice to be addressed
You have rock and roll within your breast You have blues inside your thigh And through your hair the songs fly by As poems fall each time you cry
But now the salted tears against your eyelashes are drawn With drunken fumbling to walls that know no name And your childish hope so pure of fairy tales before the dawn Turned to nothing but a walk alone in shame
You have seen broken dreams before And you know the smiles they wore They long to see what they adore But turn away if there is more
But you are used to fight this war And from your cradle to your grave You are the lost world's lonely slave You are a tear in ocean wave
Direct Translation
You give away your laughter to each and one who wish recieve The fairies have invited you to a waltz But your salty dew shows clearly against youy eyelash even so You dance in silence a love waltz to no one at all
In desperate chase for a friend Can you be humiliated once again You give away more than anyone can take For but a second of something good
Can anyone give what you should get? Does anyone wish to see what you have seen? Can you ever find your way And get in return what you have given?
The night has its song of being lost down a floor There the lights blink to the sound of a machine A tired and lost child of broken world is all I see As you flawlessly tap your feet to the hysteria
You bloom by no one's seed In warm warmth like slush and snow You dry your tear to no one's comfort And listen silently to no one's voice
You have rock and roll in your breast You have blues in your thighs You have songs in your hair And poetry in your wounds
But now the dew shows clearly against your eyelash again You're stagger hungover home to walls without answers Your glamorous hope of a fairy tale world in the dawn Turned to a bitter walk home in singular
You have seen dreams come raging down And you know how mouths smile They like to love what they see But are scared away if there is more
But you are used to people's ways And from your cradle to your grave You are the lost world's slave You are a tear in black oceans

A band I will likely show you more of in the future is Kent. They actually came from the city where I live, originally, and about half the band even origin from this very town of mine. So needless to say... they are fairly popular around here. But not only that, they also have very poetic lyrics. In fact, one of the most beloved lovesongs we have in this entire country is one of theirs, that I shall now share with you. Or at least try to. ^^"
I know that you sleep now Feel the heat right from your skin Just your scent can make me sigh But I Would dare to wake you up now
And I would give you All that you're pointing at But only when you cannot hear Would I Dare to speak
I cannot function right Without your air flowing through my lungs And I'm fading a slight When I'm not in your sight And transparently white Would I be Without the way that you breathe
My watch has stopped now Under your eyelids, my dear And the dreams all flutter through And you Are as featherlight as snow
And without a sound My heart is in your hand And I have lost all of my words They are stuck now In your hair
I cannot function right Without your air flowing through my lungs And I'm fading a slight When I'm not in your sight And sheer alike a tear Would I be Without the way that you breathe
I cannot function right Without your air flowing through my lungs And I'm fading a slight When I'm not in your sight And transparently white What would I be? Without the way that you breathe
