(This rp is backdated to the same general time frame as [this rp], [this rp], [this rp] and [this rp] )

When he wasn't working at his mauvian duties, Liryn tended to busy himself with little projects such as his ongoing one of messing around with trying to improve Arian and Orah's clocks, or updating himself on the latest 'how to' audio book, that he coaxed Arian into getting out for him from the Destiny City library.

Or at least they were things that he had done, although to be honest he hadn't felt like doing much of anything lately.

At least not since the night where he, Orah, Arian and even Liam had had shared memories of a future that was not now - a future that he refused to ever be now - something he was willing to fight against with every bit of strength in his furry body to prevent.

It had been restlessness that drove him from the apartment, and restlessness that had his small furry body padding across the back of silent streets, a part of his mind alert to any auras out and about.

Ate hadn't stopped thinking about the dreams, those wonderful dreams from the moment she had tumbled out of bed, her heart beating fast, the excitement pulsing though her body as the dream and emotions of it left her with nothing more than an enticing memory.

She had been beautiful.

Glorious, unmistakably powerful and so very different. It was like...she couldn't explain. She was no longer human, but to describe it now was like trying to imagine a limb missing, it was so hard to pinpoint what had been so different and yet so magnificent about what she had dreamed, what she had seen.

Of course time had passed but those thoughts and feelings hadn't left her, and now understanding so much more she knew it was a future she would do anything to achieve. She would work towards becoming ascended, she would risk everything and anyone to make her goal a reality. She would do anything.

Yet she had come up short at every turn. Word of an Ascended floated though the negaverse ranks but she had yet to meet the being and from what had been described she hadn't been the one she had seen in her future. No he was someone else, a pink haired corrupt that she was doing her best to track down. Lyssa too had been no help, refusing to answer her questions until Ate was ready, despite the corrupt protests that she was. Nothing she had done in the weeks since the message of the future had happened had allowed her to achieve what she seeked.

And it drove her to near insanity.

Twisting down another path, pulling another cigarette out from the box she had permanently glued to her hand, she continue to chain smoke on her worries. She probably stank to high heaven but she didn't care. She just had to figure out how to become ascended, she had too! She didn't even sense the aura until it was too late, consumed with her thoughts as she had been she nearly stumbled over the feline, her eyes ignited in rage as she saw who it was.

"Liryn!" She spat, her hand instinctively fisting until the cigarette she held crumbled to the floor. Her face a mask of fury as her thoughts raced one after the other as she stared at him until she abruptly took a startled intake of breath as a very real, and very favorable memory came to the surface of her mind.

And the dark haired Senshi started to laugh.

"Liryn! Hahaha! Liryn! Haha-How have your dreams been lately kitty cat? Mine? Why they have been positively wonderful! I dare say I dreamed of you recently kitty, did you by chance, dream of...me?"

He had thought that he was paying attention to the other auras about him, but perhaps thoughts of the dreams - of a future that was not now and that he refused acknowledge would ever be now - had distracted him more than he realised, as it was only at the last moment that he noticed the strong dark aura of the corrupted eternal and only cat-quick reflexes that saved him from being stumbled over.

He had turned automatically, but he had stiffened at the sound of the familiar voice, fur fluffing up - although as an intimidation measure it was most likely useless given that it had the side effect of making him resemble nothing so much as a fluffy puffball.

“Atë,” his normally cheerful voice was as flat as the stare that he levelled up at the corrupted senshi, was reflected in his body language, his dislike of the corrupt as clear as her spat out greeting.

Although perhaps ‘dislike’ was too weak a word, to reflect the loathing that sat in his unimpressed purplish eyes - a loathing that was very, very, mutual.

He wasn’t expecting her to laugh and it took him by surprise. A surprise that was reflected in his eyes as a brief flicker before once again being replaced with the flat stare.

The laughter was unexpectedly mirthful. Mirthful and creepy and not quite righted as she asked him about dreams.

Liryn said nothing as she continued to laugh, although he remembered her. But in his memories of her from that future that he would not allow to be now, she wasn’t as she was now.

Now in the here she was nasty and terrible, but in that not now future she had become something more - become something that truly was foul.

Oh yes he remembered, remembered every bit as clear as if it had happened yesterday.

Remembered bits of shell and egg from a senshi attack clinging to and matting up bits of his fur, remembered Athene with his long hair hacked short fighting in that desperate last stand - a last stand that all of those fighting had gone into knowing that they weren’t going to be walking away from it.

And he remembered seeing Atë creeping up on Athene’s unprotected back and remembered putting every ounce of kitty speed into that one last charge as he made his own last stand.

“I will never let you have him” when he spoke, his voice was quiet, echoes of his desperate warning cry to Athene echoing in his ears from the him that had been there on that day in the future that was not now...

The him that the not now Atë had killed.

Ahh so he did dream of her! It was fascinating to know that the future she had dreamed off was so steeped in truth. That the Guardian in front of her, this mangy feline, had indeed died by her very hands. It was wonderfully satisfying to know that it had truly happened, and it was all the confirmation she needed to know that her current path would lead her to glory within Metalia’s inner circle. All she needed to do was to find that other corrupt that had stood by her side and together, together, they would discover how to ascend.

Her laughter petered out as she listened to the kitten respond, her smile still plastered on her face as she tried to keep the giggles from erupting once more. It was difficult to accomplish as the Guardian cat reacted to her by turning into a ball of fluff, his appearance even more comical as he spat back idle threats of protecting Athene from her, which he obviously couldn’t do.

“Oh you mean like you did in the future? I was so close little kitty, and all you accomplished was getting yourself killed! I never got to see what happened to him after that, but am sure he died just as painfully by another hands as he would have done by mine. Or maybe?” She brought her hand up to rest her chin in her palm, a finger taping against her lips. “ Or maybe… maybe he was corrupted! A-ha! I bet that’s what happened! I would have requested it don’t you think? For your cute little Senshi to become my slave, my little b***h?”

Grinning Atë leaned over, her eyes alight with mischief. “I would have asked that he be corrupted badly, broken so crudely, that he loses all memories of you and everything that came before. He would forget his friends, his allies, and you, he would forget you and your final, pitiful attempt at trying to protect him.” She moved as if to poke him, her hand mere inches from his fur before she pulled back, taunting the Guardian. “He would be a soulless, meaningless lump of meat, his pathetic life would be nothing more than that of a slave and his only task would be to serve me and lick my boots clean.” She laughed thinking about what she would do to Athene as her little pet. It may have worked out different if he had come to her willingly, but now? Now she would make his future hurt.

Liryn hadn't seen what had happened after the remnants of those who had survived the fall of the camp had made their final stand, but he knew from Ida what the Negaverse had done to the survivors.

Ida but not Athene as for whatever the reason the dark-haired eternal's memories of what had happened still remained patchy.

From Ida he had found out that the Negaverse had had the survivors paraded up on some sort of stage and from Ida he knew that they had given those that had survived the choice of corruption or death.

Ida had been unable to tell him what Athene's choice had been due to the fact that she had been one of the first to be killed... But Liryn refused to believe that Athene had chosen to let himself be corrupted - totally and utterly refused to and it was a belief that was reflected in his purplish eyes as he glared up at the giggling corrupt.

"Athene would never have let himself be corrupted" he told her, with a voice full of certain. "Athene's strong - too strong to allow himself to fall to Chaos" he added the last on a hiss, a clawed paw swiping out at her as brought her hand towards his fur.

He had been quick, but she had been quicker, dancing backwards and out of reach of his paw before it could connect. Pity.

It was hard to tell if she was even listening to him, as she continued to laugh, her words making him feel angrier and angrier until at last he yelled at her "And that future is not to happen!" In part because he was not going to let it happen and in part (and more to the point) "It's already changing."

Vespa's words on the night that they had all had the shared nightmare was enough for Liryn to know that some parts had already changed.

Ate’s laughter died on her lips as the Guardian answered her back, but the smile never left her face as she looked down at him bemused. She had no idea what had really happened to Athene either, for some reason after the executions took place her mind had started to go foggy, the memories twisted and out of place before eventually throwing her back out into the waking world, half hanging of her bed in the motel she stayed at. Yet even though she didn't truly know what had happened to the boy, she knew herself enough that she would have wanted to claim him in the future.

“His strength had nothing to do with it cat. I would have wanted him, and Metalia, would have given him to me as a gift. My own beautiful little pet. Where is he by the way, hmm?” She looked around as if to spot him lurking behind a wall and was disappointed when she caught no sense of his aura. “Does he not want to come greet his future Mistress? Those bad manners of his. I will beat them out of him before long…”

Again she laughed, her eyes alight with the things she would do to him. So much so that Liryn’s words of the future didn't really register on her mind, not until he mentioned that it was already changing. She held no fear for his statement but curiosity got the better of her and she dropped down to squat before him, a feat made even more impossible by her tight pencil skirt.

“What do you mean, changing?” She hissed back at him, her smile growing fainter as she tried to gather his meaning. “The Future is set little kitty. Already the wheels are turning in favour of Chaos.”

Liryn hissed at Atë as he swiped a claw-tipped paw in her direction in an unspoken warning that it was perhaps not a good idea to get too close to this particular mauvian.

"Athene is not yours" his voice was tinged with the same feline outrage that had coloured his earlier words "And the future is not set."

He manage to calm himself enough so that his voice was mostly flat, although anger and dislike continued to show in his eyes "You are not that thing from the future and Vespa is still Vespa."

From what Vespa had told them on the night of the shared nightmare of the future that was not now and that was never going to be now, he had not purified and the Negaverse had gotten him and had turned him into the same abomination as Atë...

However in the here he had purified and it was enough of a change for Liryn - enough proof for him to know that that nightmare future was not fixed.

Atë smirked as the Guardian tried to hit out at her again. Oh she knew too well what Liryn would try and do if she got to close. She still bore scars where his nails had hit the mark last time they had encountered each other in that warehouse. She had been so close then. Not only in taking Athene's starseed but dropping over the edge into true mortal madness. It had taken a lot for Lyssa to cox her back. Strange that an insane cat could talk sense to someone on the brink of no return. Yet the future had solidified what Lyssa had spoken off and what she had to do. That had been enough to curb the insanity hat threatened to take her over.

"Oh but you see that is where you are wrong kitty cat." Atë whispered as she stood back up again, her eyes never leaving the cats.

"I intend to seek out my future very soon. All I need to do is find the one who stood by my side as an Ascended Senshi and things will start falling into place. My path is set, I have no intentions of deferring from it. I promise you, the next time we meet you will be looking into the eyes of an Ascended and all your little hopes and dreams will vanish."

She walked back a little, not too far, but enough so she was out of any range of a scratching.

"Just because one of your little buddies has done something different in the here and now, does not mean the future isn't set. Haven't you even seen the movies my little kitty friend. You can not change the future, it will come and it will happen. And Metalia will raise glorious above us all!"
Her hands shot up to the air in praise, a blissful smile upon her lips before bringing them down, the whisper of crazy still echoing around her.

"She is a Goddess you know. And do you dare think you can defeat a Goddess? This world will swim in your kinds blood, the people will be chained and drained of their energy for her." She breathed in deep, imagining herself back in the future. "It will be beautiful! And I will be there - haha - I will be there and I will be powerful and I will get to kill you."

She laughed again, before suddenly jumping back to land on the wall behind her. Her face a grim smile of hatred.

"Thats right Kitty, I have no plans to kill you know. Not when the future holds so much more fun for us. But do not think to stand in my way, for I can do worse things to you that take your life. If you dare plan to stop the future in anyway. I will start by hurting the most defenseless of your friends acquaintances. Their parents, brothers, sisters, cousins...I will watch and wait. And I will strike each one of them down and the blame will be on you. Remember that Liryn. Do not get in my way."

Liryn stared back at her as Atë spoke, his purplish eyes flat as she talked about walking the path of an abomination.

Perhaps her path was set, but he refused to believe that it meant that it meant that that future, that terrible, awful future was set in stone.

He couldn't... Wouldn't.

"You know nothing of my dreams" dislike coated his hissed out words "And whilst I might not know who or what this Metalia is, I know enough to know that thing you serve is no Goddess" there was a note of unshakable certainty in his voice, his purplish eyes unimpressed, even as he mentally filed away the name that Atë had spoken with such twisted reverence "And I know that we'll stop it.. Her..."

Maybe not today and perhaps not tomorrow, but they would find a way.

Order was at its strongest when they came together and Liryn knew that he wasn't the only one who believed that the future that was not now should never be allowed to come to be.

Matisha
Sorry for the delay Tish, btw did you still want Liryn to kitty beam Atë? If so I can have him do it on my next tag - another taunt or so from Atë will probably do it <3
