The Haunted(?) Dojo

A strange, decrepit dojo on the end of town. No matter how hard anyone has tried, they can't force their way into the main area. It only seems to open when someone with an earnest desire to learn is accompanied by someone with a debt and a desire to teach. With no obvious contraptions and no ghost types to be seen, nobody really knows what the building really is...

In spite of the strangeness, however, those who find themselves able to enter will be surprised to find that the inside of the building is well maintained and well equipped for training. For this reason, it's become a priority stop for guild members who wish to receive training from those they have helped. Even more strangely is that it won't open to guild members on their own, seeming to only open its doors to those members who are accompanied by someone outside of the guild.

"Oh? That seems like an excellent space!" The Banette that Nidhyana was following said happily as it pointed to the run down looking building on the edge of the street they were on. There was a crooked sign that was nearly falling off its post that marked the structure as a dojo of sorts. "A dojo, eh? Indeed a perfect place for some training!"

"Training? What exactly are you planning on teaching me, again?" The Sneasel asked. Even though Nidhyana had requested some lessons herself from the ghost, she hadn't been quite cleared on exactly what Siren knew or what she was planning on teaching her. The Banette answered her even as she floated towards the building with Nidhyana in tow.

"Oh, I have some ideas. But first, why don't we go inside and you can tell me what you know already?" The Banette replied as it tried for the sliding door. Once it realized it was locked, the ghost frowned. "Hm. That's odd." Nidhyana tilted her head and came up behind her mentor to see what the problem was. As soon as she came cose, though, the door slammed open by itself without warning. Both of the Pokemon stood there for a moment in stunned confusion as they stared into the open Dojo. "Very odd indeed."

"No kiddin'." Nidhyana agreed with a whistle as she stepped inside of the area. It was amazingly different once inside. The broken apart siding, overgrown lawn, and busted sign seemed to all be a diversion from the clean, seemingly maintained open space that greeted her immediately inside the doorway. There were practice dummies, weights, and various other tools for training that the Sneasel didn't recognize lined up against the far wall. The tan, smooth tiles of the floor gleamed perfectly in the light streaming in from the thin layer of ricepaper in the ceiling that acted as a skylight.

"See, what did I tell you? A perfect place to train!" The Banette laughed as she floated inside alongside Nidhyana. As soon as Siren crossed the threshold, the door slid back closed much less violently that t had opened. The suspicious action made both females look at the exit, and then to each other blankly.

"I think this place is kind of spooky." The Sneasel stated factually as it walked into the center of the room and continued to inspect the place. She didn't know if they would be trapped here, but she may as well enjoy it while it lasted.

"Hm, I don't know. I kind of like the mystery of it all." Siren mentioned as she flew in front of Nidhyana and gave her a wide grin. "Okay, so you said you had in interest in magic?"

"More like, an aptitude for it." The ice and dark the mentioned with a smile of her own as she cupped her claws in front of her and inhaled gently, letting out a soft breath filled with fire that formed a perfect ring around her claws a few seconds later. "Mystical Fire. I inherited the ability naturally from my father, a Delphox. He wouldn't show me anything else, though, said I needed to learn some things through other means."

As she explained this, Siren looked to be more and more exited, looking hungrily at the fire held in Nidhyana's hands. "That certainly is quite the gift you have! And, I think I know just what to teach you about."

"Oh? You do?" Nidhyana really doubted her decision in asking Siren about this. She had barely even expressed what she had wanted to learn about and already Siren acted like she knew exactly how to appease her desire to learn more about the mystic arts. The Banette seemed to see the doubt in her features and smirked at her knowingly.

"Trust me, you will not be disappointed. In fact, I think you will be quite interested in this. After all, it would be an ability your father would have possessed." The Sneasel's ears twitched a bit at that. A thought passed that maybe she shouldn't be so quick to jump to conclusions. "Let me demonstrate."

Suddenly a blue flame came to life next to Siren along with the sound a piece of paper makes when suddenly catching fire. Then another one followed, and another, and another, until there were six little brightly blue burning flames dancing around the ghost in a circle. Nidyana's eyes that matched the color of the fires widened and she let out another whistle of appreciation.

"Is that... a Will-o-wisp?" She asked, recognizing the magically induced flames immediately. An image of the little wisps following her father into battle came to mind. Siren nodded as she began to let all of the flames fade one by one, until only one remained. The spirit took the little blue flame in her hands lovingly, gazing at it warmly before looking up seriously to Nidhyana, who let the flames in her own hands die and gulped nervously.

"This isn't just your everyday, magical fire, you know? Unlike your Mystical Fire, Will-o-Wisp uses the energy of lost souls and collects them into a brightly burning 'flame'." The Banette explained in a tone quite unlike the playful, vengeful spirit that she had acted as only a few days ago when they had first met. Nidhyana decided it was probably best to pay serious attention to her. "I'm not really sure myself about all the details, being trapped in that bog for so many years. But I do know that some Pokemon can just learn this without thinking too deeply about what they're doing. But I do not think that's right."

Nidhyana could certainly understand why Siren, a spirit herself, would be so sensitive to the use of another soul. "But, I thought lost souls turned into Pokemon?" She asked when there was a lull in Siren's explanation. The Banette looked at her in amusement.

"That would be like saying all of the egg cells in a female Pokemon are born into this world. Becoming sentient and physical doesn't merely depend on how one died or its attachment to this world, a measure of luck is needed as well." Siren explained softly, making a whole lot of sense to Nidhyana, though she believed more in destiny than in luck.

"So how should I treat these the right way?" The student asked, hesitantly raising a hand closer to the bluish flame and trying to sense the presence of the spirit residing in it. The feeling she got was a lot different from the fire she was used to making. Unlike her current flaming ability, the wisp felt as if it were alive, and yet nonexistent. It took a lot of concentration just to sense that much, though. "It feels so... Delicate."

Nidhyana turned her sapphire eyes up to meet Siren's red ones, seeing a pleased smile covering the ghost's face. "Indeed it is. But since you have such apparent aptitude for such things, I'm sure you won't have any troubles handling it." Nidhyana felt her face heating up at the realization that she may have sounded a bit overconfident when speaking of her 'talent' with magic. "We'll start first with summoning one, and then more as we go. But it may take a while."

"As long as I can properly wield it," The Sneasel said in a more humble manner than she had before, "I will take all the time I need. It would be an honor if you would take the time to teach me."

Siren smiled with an emotion that Nidhyana just couldn't quite place. "Of course, my little Magician."

((After a few grueling hours, Will-o-Wisp is obtained for Nidhyana of Team Moonlighter.))
