A refreshed Ganyma walked through the Four Fronds woods with purpose. It had been many weeks since his tribulations in the forest, and even though he still bristled at the thought he had gained a sense of self-confidence. He was healthy, clean, well-fed. Even as an unknown in the Alternian League of Gladiaterrors, Ganyma was at peace and happy. He had a purpose. He had corresponded this much with Luxara in his time staying in Four Fronds. His letters were all short but enthusiastic, filled with his cryptic handwriting and blotchy pictures (he never could figure out how to not smear the ink with his palm). Luxara had remained safe, and so had he. Well - plus or minus a few scrapes and runs through the forest. He'd made this very clear to her, but with emphasis and lots of underlines let her know that he was alright. Tonight was the night he'd prove it. They'd catch up, maybe work out a bit or spar (she'd always shown interest in learning his fighting moves), and hang out. No strings attached, no fear, no complications.
Finding Luxara's hive was an easy task now for Ganyma; he'd been there a number of times and even though it was non-descript (as trees are in the woods) his method of memorizing patterns and directions never failed him. By the look of him, Ganyma was ready for a fight. He had donned his push gloves and his wrists were wrapped from his recent fight, and the remnants of Ganyma's fear of hunters had him looking behind him at every yard. But, truth be told, it was a rest day. He wouldn't be fighting criminals or hunters today.
As the troll neared the hive, his features brightened. Being in the thick of the wilderness made civilization or even friendly trolls seem farther away. Having Luxara nearby was comforting. He stood at her tree and announced his presence.
"Luxara! You home?" He called. He wandered around the back of the hive, looking into the canopy and back down into the bushes to see if she was hiding somewhere. Ganyma opened his stance. "No ambushes, now -- if we're gonna scrimmage today I want a fair fight!"
He smiled and jokingly smacked his fist into his palm for effect.

Keeping up with Ganyma had been a priority, doubly so after what she'd learned from Forera. Luxara, however, did not state as such. This was a slippery slope, playing all of the sides. what a slimy phrase. She didn't want to think she was like that, slimy, but when she was friends with people who hurt others and the hurt...then yes, maybe it was a bad position. It was too tough to take sides, though, and for now she would just keep mum on things that were better left unsaid. Since, well, for once, she really knew saying something could hurt things pretty bad.
Writing letters had become imperative, although occasional the hand cramps weren't fun. She had to know he was okay. The one person she knew she could trust anymore. He had plenty of opportunities to sell her out, but he hadn't so far. When he could've left her to rot for a number of reasons, he didn't. He was good, no matter what anyone said. Things could be okay, and didn't he deserve that?
So knowing he was coming down, she wouldn't say anything about...anything. Nothing about rebels, royalists, any of that. This was going to be fun. And safe. Definitely safe. No matter what, she had her crossbow with her always when she left her hive these days, so whatever complications could possibly arise...she had it in the bag.
The small greenblood raised her head at Ganyma's voice. She was in her hive, playing with her larger clutch of gerbils. Bloodfest had netted her so much new stuff. She stood up and made sure the multi-limbed rodents didn't tumble off of her from too high up, nor be underfoot as she ran off to climb to the branches of her woodland home.
When she was up in the canopy, with a good view down below, she cracked a broad smile. Maybe everything could be okay.
"Aww, not even one shot on your shoulder to make you think a flapbeast pooped on you?" she asked of him before hopping down a couple of branches before landing nearby. She added in a ta-da flourish at the last second. "Hey, Gan, it's been forever! You look great!" For one, not beaten up. "Are you gonna keep doing that thing with your hair? Keeping it long-ish and symmetrical?" She opened her mouth to add that it looked cool as a half-shave, but then...Forera had that going for her too. Better not make any sort of comparison. "Is it gonna get even longer?" She paused, gathering her thoughts. "Actually that part should come after the hug, right? Cuz you can't tell me we're not gonna go for another hugfest before we get all sweaty and do things that are less hug more grr, right?"

Ganyma tracked Luxara as she hopped from limb to limb. She was spry and bubbly as ever; a great sign, as far as the tealblood was concerned. He put his hands on his hips and grinned. “Good to see you, too, kiddo,” he laughed.
Ganyma walked toward her and opened his arms wide to give her a welcoming hug. He closed in, embracing her and giving her a short couple of swings before placing her down again. “It’s always good to see you. N’ yeah, I think I’ll let my hair grow for now. Don’t wanna change the look too much since gettin’ known in the ring. Probably don’t wanna let it get too long though. Some fighters play dirty n’ grab it.”
He tossed his hair playfully and gave it a quick comb-through with his fingers. “Well, ‘fore we catch up I think we can get some trainin’ out of the way,” He mused. Hanging out and having a feelings jam seemed much more effective after the other classic Alternian activity of brawling – it was the obvious choice for any friendly troll.
“We usin’ weapons?” Ganyma didn’t want to have to say he wasn’t in the mood to get impaled or shot again in the woods, but since he’d brought his gloves he figured he’d ask. “I ain’t gonna stick ya or anything.” He raised his hands to throw a few quick air-punches, and booped Luxara in the nose. “Gotta set some rules before we get sweaty and grr, yeah?”

She was swept up right and good in the hug, laughing while being swung. Once her feet was on the ground again, she adjusted her coat some as Ganyma talked. "The ring! Right! Cuz you're a Gladiterorororror!" Luxara remembered the letters. She didn't watch TV, didn't have much pop culture knowledge so it was up the the correspondence to give her any insight on Ganyma's new role. Or life? Career? Something like that. The important thing was that he didn't seem like he would be getting into anymore messes, and Luxara might not have to see him as any sort of opposition.
It was good to see him cheery and light-hearted though. They both needed it. "Uhhhh well we don't need to use weapons, I guess. I just...always have mine. Since. Y'know. You can never be too prepared for whatever. Sometimes things pop out of the brush and they're not Stagdad and you gotta let them know you're not dinner somehow, so." She shrugged. "But I did have this idea. Since I'm small, you're big, and honestly all I can do is stealth stuff, these tiny hands aren't good for grabbing the big guns. Y'know." She flexed her small, but well-exercised, arms. "So maybe I could shoot softly when you open yourself up and it'll be like! Oh no this is something I gotta work on so I'm not bulldozed when I'm fighting for real! Or something like that! Because, see, this crossbow can shoot hard and soft and the other day I found these neat bolts that shoot paint. You wanna see?" Before even waiting for a response, she pulled her crossbow over her shoulder, grabbed ammo from the pocket of her coat, locked a very yellow bolt in, and shot it at a tree. The rounded head splattered the same bright color on the purple trunk. "Ta-da! And the tree isn't even hurt."

“That’s right,” Ganyma nodded. He was in a new stage of life now – a fresh start. It was rejuvenating. He grinned and stepped back to watch her load her crossbow and examined the results with an expectant look.
“Huh!” Ganyma took a step towards the tree, examining the mutant-hue with a funny look. It was fortunate that the color couldn’t be mistaken for the average troll’s blood, but even so the unsettling feeling of blood in the woods drifted through him. He felt the bark of the tree and deemed that it hadn’t made much of a mark other than a slight impact impression, the equivalent of bruising most likely. He turned back around with his hands on his hips and gave her a firm nod. “Sounds good to me! Alright Luxxy…”
He took a hop back, next to the tree. Ganyma lowered his stance and bent his knees, extending his arms at the ready. “You ready for some of this?”

Luxara smiled wider at the fact that her idea was not only acceptable, but a good one. When Ganyma crouched, ready for battle, her instincts were to jump into the trees. But, that wouldn't be fair. Nor would it give her any experience with wrasslin' unless he shook her out of the trees, either with the tree still rooted or not. Not a great scenario. So she stayed on the ground, hunkering down herself as if preparing for a hunt.
Well, this was something like that. Just make sure to avoid aiming for the head. He was a friend, after all.
While there was plenty of distance between them, she started circling, taking a shot at his shirt as she did so. "Bring it on, Cap!"

"Alright!" Cheered Ganyma. He hustled around, watching Luxara closely. There was nothing he could do at long range, so getting near her was the only question in his mind. If she scampered into the trees, well -- Ganyma hadn't thought that far ahead yet. He'd think of something when that happened. She said she wanted to learn wrestling moves after all!
"Let's see how long you can keep me away--ack!" Ganyma wasn't able to avoid the painful paint bolt that shot at his torso. He twisted away in time for it to glance off, but left a surefire yellow smear where it hit. He hissed through his teeth and kept his charge towards Luxara, aiming to disrupt her aim with a well-placed elbow.

"Am I a great shot or are you just easy to hit?" Luxara teased, trying to side-step and duck when he came at her. Unfortunately, she either wasn't fast enough or he was big enough to still put her off-balance for a good moment. "Ope!" She rolled with the hit, and swooped around, reloading as she tried to get behind him for another shot. If they were gonna have a good grapple, she was gonna keep him on his toes in the meantime! "Are all the gladiaterrororors so bulky?"

Luxara was quick. With her small stature, it made getting a hold of her rather tough, not to mention her adaptability and knowledge of the terrain. Ganyma wasn't quick enough to catch her before she sidled along his side, but he was able to predict her quick tap to his back. He tensed his muscles automatically, feeling them group up as the blow nearly cut through his skin and sent an electric jolt through hip. He yelped in pain. That was sure to leave a bruise later.
"Uhh--" He didn't have much time to respond to her comment, and instead put his mind to a swift counter-attack.
In retaliation, Ganyma gritted his teeth and whipped around. With a whoop of confident energy he set out to grab Luxara by her thin middle and hoist her up, threatening to toss her back down. "'Eeeeyy!" Roared Ganyma theatrically. He'd picked up some rather gaudy tricks as a Gladiaterror in training!

Before she knew it, Luxara was up in the air. Definitely not optimal! She didn't even have time to start wiggling much before the ground was rising up. Oh s**t.
She tried to turn her landing into something of a roll. Either way, she landed hard. Enough to let out a small noise whether she wanted to or not. This would definitely leave some bruising.
I've been through worse, the greenblood told herself, getting to her feet. And, of course, this was friendly. If he pushed her too far, she'd let him know. She couldn't let herself forget this was a casual thing, not win-or-die. But...would it shame her if she didn't hold out?
The wild child needed distance. She skirted away, reloading as she did so. It must take a lot of energy to keep that much bulk moving. She'd have to rely on her stamina outdoing his to lay any claim to a 'victory'. She took another shot, then tried a serpentine maneuver.

9/20 Def style A power 1/3 Off style B trinket +1 DMG SPLOT -- "Yeowtch!" The spray of the paint bolt hit him square in the temple, sending his vision into a blurry mess. Ganyma definitely had to spar against more ranged partners; this was incredibly difficult, even for a trained fighter. The bright yellow paint spattered and smeared across his vision, and while Ganyma tried to close the gap between himself and Luxara it was no use. Precious seconds wasted. The tealblood wiped away the paint and focused on her next move instead of making an offensive one, alternating squinting his eyes to try and get rid of some of the swimming that was obscuring his sight. He locked onto her at last, and finally managed to close the distance. Not before taking a couple of rounds in the chest though. It occurred to Ganyma that if she was using actual crossbow bolts, he would probably be dead. Luxara's time spent hunting was not time wasted. He was impressed, but horrified. Mentally, he noted down the great need to train in his agility. Ganyma does 0 damage :'(

Con: she had broken her personal rule of hitting Ganyma in the head. "Sorry!" She'd have to keep better track of kickback, she supposed. Meanwhile, pro: the tealblood was disoriented enough to give her more time to jet. Luxara took advantage of it, and when he finally caught up, had caught him below the collarbone.
Now onto her next move. She rounded a tree to get behind him, but at a distance. However, that same tree had an exposed root. Her boot hit it, tripping her, and the shot missed entirely. It also could very well give away her position. s**t.

"Ah, it's alright!" Ganyma hollered out. He couldn't really see, but sportsmanship was sportsmanship. After a short moment he regained his bearings. There she was. "Don't give away your position!" He chided, ever the coach.
Ganyma rounded the tree and pulled Luxara across the ground by the boots. It was a bizarre way to wrangle, but if he played his cards right he'd be able to put her in a submission hold in no time flat. At this angle, positioning her crossbow would be incredibly difficult.

As soon as she hit the ground, Luxara knew she was in trouble. She tried to skitter away, but it was fruitless; Ganyma was already grabbing her ankles. She squeaked as he pulled her away, and tried to turn enough to aim at him. Anything to get away! But he was already bearing down on her too much. Too strong. At this point, there was no way she'd get a shot in.
She gave up her crossbow, dropping it to be able to use both hands whenever she got another chance at escaping. She'd helplessly swat and claw in the meantime. Might as well be a wild animal like everything else in the forest once cornered.
