He wasn't expecting to encounter an animal on the trip down the cliffs. When the boar barreled out onto the path, and squealed at him, Johan had hesitated. It felt like forever since he'd seen a real creature. He'd been fighting so many shadow monsters he was almost glad to see the boar.
That feeling lasted up until the boar charged and bowled Johan over. It attempted to impale him on his tusks until he managed to slash at it with Tempest. The enraged thing screamed, and charged away. Johan could hear it crashing through the underbrush as he scrambled to his feet. He didn't wait for it to come back.

Back in the Forest, Johan was almost hoping to see his old friend, the giant spider. He even stumbled into a clearing that looked like a likely place to find it, but, instead, he found a bundle of food.
He added it to his pack, wondering if the spider might have decided to return some of the food it had taken.

As he entered the Labyrinth, Johan decided to try out a few paths he hadn't been down before. The tunnel was winding, but there were many rock formations to admire, and a surprisingly pleasant lack of traps about. It was almost too good to be true.
And it was.
A furious, tunnel-shaking roar hit Johans' back with the force of a hammer, knocking him down. Scrambling to his feet, he looked behind him, and felt his heart drop into his stomach.
A thing made of pure flame was charging towards him, death in its eyes. Leaving his spilled supplies, Johan sprinted away from the monster, knowing he was doomed if he let that thing catch him. The next several minutes were spent in a frantic chase through the labyrinth. Just when Johan felt his lungs were going to collapse, the sounds of pursuit stopped. The exit was in sight. Stumbling the last hundred yards to it, Johan turned back to see where the monster was.
It was gone. The tunnel behind him was dark and cold. There was no way he was going to try and retrieve his lost supplies, though.

After the terror in the labyrinth, Johan wasn't so willing to trust the quiet mountaintop. However, he made it to the summit safely. As he stared out over the land, something glimmering descended towards him from the heavens.
They looked like... an artifact?
Johan stretched out a hand, and caught the strange item. A pair of delicately wrought wings? Did... did they work? He tentatively put them on, and chose a small rock to jump off. To his amazement, he glided downwards, the wings catching the air and slowing his fall.
After some practice, Johan knew how he was getting off the mountain. There was no way he was going back through the labyrinth.
