User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Survey Mission 4D
Location: Isla de las Munecas
Images:: x, x, x.
General debriefing: A team of dedicated individuals looking to write a magazine article about the island visited the area two weeks ago. Despite search and rescue attempts, none of them have made it back alive. They have noticed however, odd dolls shaped like the team hanging from the tree branches...
* C class difficulty level (must have a team of three, at least one of them must be an intermediate trainee)

MECHANICS

* MECHANICS: RP assembling a team, as necessary, before heading towards the Lighthouse portal to request a portal to Survey Mission 4D. Once there, roll a 100-sided dice and match the roleplay to the results below, as well as any reactions. Players can continue rolling until any of the players roll a INSANITY ENCOUNTER, in which case the BATTLE PHASE begins. See below for battle phase mechanics.
1- 20: The island is extremely foggy, the ground uneven and moist. You take a few steps in the soft soil until you hear a sudden crunch. You just stepped on the glass eye of a doll.
21 - 40: You notice that the dolls look to be in varying conditions, some with maggots curling out of them while others still look oddly new and untouched. All of the new ones are missing their eyes.
41 - 60: You notice a cabin deeper on the island. Inside is a small den, a few rooms, and a statue of a wolf head, creepily enough. The trap door in the center will not open but you can hear a music coming from underneath...
61 - 80: The wind begins to pick up, as the dolls begin to stir and move, as if with a life of their own. All seems okay until - you see a new addition to the lineup of dolls. Is that a doll of YOU? It is also missing its eyes.
81- 100: BOSS ENCOUNTER:
- As you continue walking down you hear a large crack, followed by another. A strange gas explodes from underneath, making you extremely dizzy, as you cough to figure out what is going on, fighting for air now. You have exposed your entire team to a hallucinogen, making everything more terrifying than ever as your vision swims and hops uncontrollably and your hearing becomes muted. Something creaks, groans, lurches underneath you, but is that your imagination?

- BOSS MECHANICS: This boss is a mob that has collective 100 HP. Every time you attack it (following the general battle rules), you TAKE 8 damage. AS you can't really see the boss, most of it will have to be dependent on what you can see, if anything at all, from strange faceless figures lurching, half-hopping towards you to the smiling dead coming back and swiping at you. Make sure to tally the boss's total HP (the damage you did to it) at the bottom of your post as well as your total HP and the damage you did that round. If the boss's HP hits 0, you have defeated it, and your team can now take the portal back.

* 4 mission reward points for completing this successfully

A considerable amount of time had passed since Abbi had last been sent on an honest, off Island mission, enough that when she was initially handed the folder of information she was at a loss for what to do. Thankfully she recovered quick enough to prepare properly, of which required a customary packing of her favorite lilac bunny eared backpack. The mission seemed pretty straightforward so anything frivolous like an additional change of clothing or books seemed unnecessary, but the essentials were.
Which meant Abbi arrived at the Portal with her pell-mell pieced together, and very pastel, first aid kit, alongside a considerable amount of snacks. One never knew when low blood sugar would impact a mission! And, in an attempt to impress, she had donned a particularly adorable outfit. It was best to appear as cute as possible in any and every occasion, especially missions.

Normally punctual to the point of being ridiculous about it, Abbi arrived first to the portal and waited with all the ease of someone who didn't mind being early.
And by that, it meant she relentlessly pursued the portal techs on hand for conversation, despite their bored faces that indicated otherwise.
"So like, ok favorite Final Fantasy game. And you can't say VII, unless it came out when you were like, yanno, a kid or teen. None of this pixel-nostalgia either. Go big, or go home." She paused and blinked wide eyes at the particular portal tech she had cornered. "Besides the fact that that's impossible, you know what I mean."

As a death hunter, collecting necessary information was a daily routine. Instead of relying mainly on the information, Shu'd talked to the experienced full hunters where she received the mission folder. Missions after missions, the petite girl learned that not to wear your favourite clothes, they had a high percentage to be wrecked. Her rules to herself was clear: not garments from others, not her favourite and easy to move and run.

On a normal day, she would be seen wearing outfits with cute elements. Checking her bag for one last time and zipped it up, she tied her shoes and left the basement. She was the second one to arrive. Her steps were a bit hurried, even she was earlier than the said time. Shu was curious about the clamour at the location, the silhouette of a redhead in sailor-style dress in pastel color was the first thing she saw, followed by the poor tech behind her, baffled.

She nodded politely to the other techs that she'd seen a few times, before she sneaked up closer while putting an index finger on her lips and winked to them. "How about Persona or Kingdom Hearts?" The petite Death hunter beamed, reached her upper torso to draw the duo's attention while rescuing the poor man from his dire plight. "Ohhhhh Abbi-chan, it's YOU! How're you? Leslie's fine? Does he sleep well lately?" A hug as top priority and then bullets of questions. The long thin knitted cyan cardigan gently patted at the back of her thigh, inside a yellow loose-fit v-neck camisole exposing the neutral brownish inner. All in the hues of cozy soft pastel of spring breathe.

Under a pair of dark turquoise shorts, legs wrapped in black leggings moving a delightful beat. Shu slid her shoulder bag to the front and handed the redhead a strawberry candy. "As sweet as you do." The asian wearing glasses looked around with a cheerful smile on her face, hand roofed above her eyes like a little sailor. "Whereeeeeee's our third member? I'll bet a candy that's a GURL~" In the hope of a full girl team like Powerpuff Girls, the boots stepped excitedly against the ground.

Shu would find herself the winner of a candy, as her bet proved true: after a few more minutes--almost late--the third member of the party stumbled up to the portal, stifling a yawn.

She had not gotten Abbi's memo about her cutest clothes, but had apparently gotten Shu's about wearing things relatively easy to move around in and none-too-treasured: there was a hole in the knee of her tights.

It was probable she had slept too late, although that hadn't stopped her from putting on what might be considered too much eyeliner, nor from wearing a ridiculously incongruous bear-eared headband. Certainly she gave her two companions a bleary-eyed, drowsy look before registering that these were her teammates, at which point she perked up considerably. Something about the composition of her mission squad was even better than coffee.

"Oh," she said. "Hey! I guess it's just us girls." She gave them a considering look before pointing at them in turn. "Shu? And Abbi? I think? From Twitter," she clarified, suddenly shy, a blush surging up under a generous crop of freckles. "And from what Peyton told me."

All Abbi heard was 'Kingdom Hearts' and that was enough to have her whirling around with sparkly eyes, fully prepared to launch into a Very Serious Gaming Discussion with the cute girl who had voiced the question. To find it was Shu of all people only made the teen go all the more excited and she leapt into the air to clear the distance between them to hug her smaller friend.
"Shu-chi! Its you! I'm good!" At the question of Leslie she laughed, pulling back so as not to be too loud about her raucous sound in her friend's ear. "I guess he's ok? Grumpy as always? But uh... I-D-K about his sleeping habits. You should probably ask him!" Why didn't Shu want to know about Abbi's sleeping habits? That was a whole can of worms on its own, but maybe that was the point.

The offer of candy was gladly taken and relished, since strawberries were a particular favorite of Abbi's, even if she was wholly content to settle for artificially flavored substitutes.
Perfectly prepared to make bets with Shu, naturally predisposed to bet the opposite, that instead they would be paired with a tall man to balance out their petite statures, she didn't quite get the point out. Half way through explaining herself Abbi noticed someone approaching and the halo of blonde hair distracted her enough to let off hoping for a male.
Having a full girl's team was way better.

"You're... Um... Kuma-girl... Um um ASTRID?" They had tweeted at each other enough that she'd grabbed a periphery sort of knowledge on the name. But wait then Peyton was mentioned and Abbi let out a very loud "OOOOH" and felt a little stupid about having missed that glaringly obvious connection of their last names being related more than just simple coincidence.
"Hey! Its super nice to meet you finally! Yeah, yeah I'm Abbi Killian and this is Shu... Um... I don't wanna butcher your last name, I'm so sorry." A genuine look of worried curtesy dimmed her smile as she gestured to the darker haired girl before she was back to her full brightness.
"So you're like... Cousins? Step-sisters? Nieeeeeceeees?" She hadn't encountered any nieces yet, how fun would that be!
Only, that didn't quite make sense... How old was Peyton? She looked pretty young, but maybe she was baby-faced? Maybe Abbi was bad at judging ages... How old was Shu? Surely near the same age as Abbi, and Astrid too! Oh man, now she was questioning everything... She would have to add ages to her profiles on everyone!

The sparkly eye competition that started in no time, Aquamarine versus Citrine underwent smoothly without anyone notice. Shu was as excited as the pretty redhead, she was in quite a bad mood lately, conversation about games and going with a friend lightened her dim soul for a bit.

The incoming girl with likable aura announced Shu's victory. Rewarded and hid the pink sweet candy into one of her cheeks, she nodded for Astrid's first question, followed by two quick affirmative nods. Peyton, the strong powerful Sun that she mentioned had Shu's eyes widened and flashed with realization. Continuing Abbi's enthusiasm and as supplementary note, "It's fine Abbi-chan~" She smiled. "D-o-n-g for Dong, S-h-u for Shu and L-e-i for Lei, Dong.Shu.Lei, that's my full name. I come from Asia, calling me Shu is fine." Her breathe smelt like strawberry.

The girl that looked younger than Astrid beamed with happiness, "You still have to visit me and play with my Duffy and JORB! He's a big big bear Roland got me on Halloween! Ah, then I can show you how my names is written if you're interested." Because of the minimal height difference, the petite Asian'd easily dragged the former into a hug, a little bear hug if she would perceive and feel the affection.

"I bet one candy again they're sisters." Shu sent Abbi a sideway glance with challenger's confidence. "Because you helped me win a candy, here's yours. Do you like strawberry flavour?" She asked, giving the girl with cute freckles a small round candy, tone as sweet as the candy she enjoying.

"I have the feeling that we're gonna be the best team EVER, as awesome as Powerpuff Girls! How can good friends not knowing each other right? I will start first." She cleared her throat, putting her head under her chin, pretending it's very serious and important issue. "I'm an intermediate trainee from Death, I love cute things and desserts. My hobbies include but not limited to playing games, watching anime and movies, talking and cosplay, I know elementary Japanese, am fluent in Chinese and fair in English. Hmm....my spirit animal should be a rabbit and I love pink and soft pastel colors." Thinking it was a good introduction, she stopped with a big smile, looking at Astrid's direction to inform it was the turn for them to know more about her.

Well, before she asked a final question - "Astrid, Norse origin, meaning divine beauty or strength. Such a lovely name, did your mom give you that name?" In their tradition, it was believed one's name will have a huge influence on one's life. Nowadays, it became more of parents' hope and blessings to the offspring.

"Oh goodness," said Astrid with a little laugh. "I never knew my name meant that, that's awesome. I'm like--a hot viking lady, apparently. Rad. And uhm." She paused, a little nervous. It felt like introducing herself on one of the (far too many) first days at a new school, although Shu's open candor and Abbi's welcoming smile put her at ease. She popped the candy in her mouth to help distract herself.

"Astrid Creedy and yes, Peyton's my sister! We should all definitely hang out after this. I'm in Life division but I'm pretty new--I was stationed in Lebanon for ages and just got back. I like movies and especially Disney movies, and drawing and swimming, and my spirit animal is definitely a bear and my favorite color is green but I love bunnies and pink too, because who doesn't? They are great." She looked expectantly at Abbi. Your turn.

For a moment Abbi's smile was replaced with a frown of concentration as she dutifully tried to commit Shu's proper name to memory, as it was only polite to call her friend by what she preferred. As if being rewarded for her care to details, Abbi was given another candy that she happily gobbled up.
"Oh man, we're totally perf for being the Powerpuff Girls too! Since I'm a ginger I'm Blossom, Shu you're Buttercup cause your hair is dark and Astrid you're Bubbles, cause you're blonde!" Maybe it wasn't the best personality wise given they were probably all Bubbles given how stinking cute they all were, but it was still a fun thing to point out.

Abbi was quiet and nodded encouragingly while the two girls introduced themselves, filing away the helpful information they provided into the little mental notes she kept about most people. It was nice of them to give it away so easily, it made her job of asking less necessary! That meant they could get right on with being friends yeeessssss excellent.
When Astrid looked at the last teen, Abbi hopped into the air excitedly.
"Ah! Ok my turn alright! Abbi Killian, Intermediate, Moon. Uh let's see, my specialization is in field medic, or as I like to call it, I'm gonna be a Battle Nurse. I like video games and like, yanno, anime and comics and I like to read a lot! I know bare bones French, my spirit animal is probably a rabbit too... Unless we're talking Phillip Pullman, The Golden Compass style animals then its probably a squirrel. And um, my favorite color is lilac but pink and green are good too and Oh! I like Disney movies a lot! Anna is my my favorite." Had she gotten everything? It felt like she had missed so much...

"Oh! The portal looks ready... Why don't we walk and talk?" She smiled at each girl before she buzzed around them, an attempt to gently urge them toward the now glowing portal and on their way. Didn't want to dilly-dally, after all...

She'd suggested they did a cosplay of them as Powerpuff Girls later, the introduction made them know each other better. The petite girl was ineffably overjoyed for how much they shared something in common. Disney movies were great and the one by Pixar were her favourite, she could give a detailed too long, didn't read review on each of the movies she watched.

Shu stared at the redhead talking about her specialization with envy, she didn't find hers yet and she knew how great it was to have goals to work towards to. The enthusiasm and cheerfulness were waned by the scenery outside the portal, it was like a sealed jar full of smoke and they were tiny pixies trapped inside. "Where are we? What's - this place?" She asked, but simply just saying because of the odd ambiance, not expecting an answer. The boots sank into the moist soil, as if the ground was merely made of mixtures of mud. The island was quiet and foggy, in a way best seen incidents happened in horror movies.

"We're here, the doll island......It's - a bit different from what I think...." She walked further away from the portal, studied about the surrounding. "Stay close, Blossom, Bubble," she was really into the acting game. "It's so foggy here," said Shu, recalling when the fog became dense on the last mission at San Zhi.

Creak.

The foot she lifted up revealed a round small object which was once an eye, now broken glass pieces.

Quote:
1- 20: The island is extremely foggy, the ground uneven and moist. You take a few steps in the soft soil until you hear a sudden crunch. You just stepped on the glass eye of a doll.
