"Cerulean Cave" Connecting Land Routes: Cerulean City

Cerulean Cave is a large underground complex of maze-like tunnels which extend out from Cerulean City to the mountains beyond. With the dark entrance positioned on the outskirts of Cerulean City, only accessible by surfing across the river in the northwest corner of Cerulean City to the entrance near the northern border. The cave has been renowned for its mystery, and is said to house extremely tough pokemon, so strong that the Pokemon League has been put in charge of it, often sending guards to stand at the entrance and only allow Trainers who own all eight Kanto Gym Badges to enter. The entrance to the cave looks like it has been carved out from a hillside, forming an indented entrance into the hill.
At the deepest point of the cave is a small alcove by the water, which is said to have at one point in time been home to the original Mewtwo. This Mewtwo was created by man in the Pokémon Mansion before it became too powerful and escaped, exiling itself to the cave. When the cave collapsed some years ago, it was said that the Mewtwo in this cave had perished from the rock slides, others believe it made a new home somewhere else, and still others believe that the Mewtwo was the cause of the cave's collapse. Regardless, the cave was excavated and reopened again, but there were no signs of Mewtwo to be seen ever again.

It was far from unfortunate to find that these things were falling across all the regions, including Kanto. It hadn’t been that long since she’d been here-- she’d had to battle the elite four fairly recently, after all -- but it had been a while since she’d been near Cerulean City. Had the last time been when she defeated the gym with Jas? It made her smirk, thinking about it. Defeating a water gym with her fire type; she’d been so proud of him, even if she hadn’t made it all that clear. The details of the first part of the match were a little foggy-- she knew she didn’t use him for the entire battle. But she was fairly sure she used him for the second half-- ie, against Misty’s final pokemon. She could still feel the static against her skin from Jas’ finishing thunderpunch.
Her fingers curled against the dragon pokemon’s skin as they coasted down over the city, down, past the outer edge, to the infamous cave. She had passed it to do some training, she remembered, but she hadn’t had a pokemon that knew surf, or fly. She couldn’t get to the cave itself. Probably for the best; from what she remembered hearing, it had terrifyingly powerful pokemon…

While Ajicka was tempted to send ZK out to battle -- one way or another -- against the pokemon in the cave, she decided to leave him alone for now. Wcuffing her feet against the ground, Ajicka looked about the cave exterior while the water pokemon checked the boat-like path of water around. ZK was sort of wandering around, but she didn’t pay him much mind. She focused on looking around, only glancing over, towards his feet, when she noticed him approach her directly. She lifted a wary gaze to meet him and tried to study the expression on his face. ”Can I borrow your communicator?” The question caught her off guard, and her expression twisted into one of confusion. He shook his head and held out a hand. ”I just want to message someone. I think you have their number,” he explained, without really giving any information.

Figuring that, worst case, she could go back and read the message (or have her new porygon dig it up), she pulled out her device, and handed it over. With that set, she turned, and moved off to resume her search. She was already trying to go through the list of locations she’d managed to gather from the store she’d bought that porygon at. It had actually been in Kanto, she’d just made a detour. It was how she knew this region had them, too, and where to go. The person had been nice enough to actually look up some information for her, so she knew of some places in other regions, too, but once she found this, she’d try and focus on getting her porygon set up. A complex maze of cave tunnels right outside Cerulean City was the last place Lafayette expected to have to search. Juliean hadn’t provided him that many details, but he was certain that these little glowing rocks weren’t normal, had not been here for that long, and shouldn’t be traversing into caves so easily. Maybe they had been here for a while and his employer was just now beginning to take an interest.
He wouldn’t put it past him.
Juliean ran so many different projects and schemes, it was hard to keep up. In the beginning of his employment, Lafayette rand at least twenty different errands a day. Lafayette sighed. There was no point in being agitated; he was on a mission, like always. "Stay here sheila," He said, giving Dova a knowing nod. The caves looked narrow, and she just wouldn’t be able to wiggle about in the freedom she deserved. She whined in response (of course), but he’ trainer’s smile seemed just enough to soothe her. They’d be back.
Lafayette had no intention of lingering in the caves long. Just like with the previous spots, he expected that the wishing star would stand out against the cave’s perpetual darkness. With Noah at his heels and Cheri still tucked under his arm (Lafayette would’ve left her there at the entrance, but knowing her, she’d have been missing) and made their way in.

It would’ve been wise to bring a light. The Aussie hadn’t thought about that in the beginning. Sure, the Wishing star would stand out, but until that happened, they were wandering in the darkness. Lafayette swore under his breath several times as he bumped into jutting rock structures and walls as the tunnels took sharp turns. There were open passage areas, where his breath echoed the loudest, the only source of reprieve from bumps.
The further they went, the darker it became. Eventually, they’d spot something. But would they be able to make it back? That was… the question.
If Cheri could pull herself away from the communicator long enough to pay attention, she could guide them back. The soft glow of its screen was just enough of a light source that they could use if needed. Assuming Cheri was willing to give it up.

A chirp from Noah pulled Lafayette’s attention away from Cheri. Had he been staring? He hadn’t even realized he was doing that. The Dewott had already skittered down one of the passages on his own and his trainer tried to quickly follow, grunting as the narrowness of the passage impeded his advancement. Well, good thing he had small pokemon.
Noah was quick to action. Just as quickly as he had scuttled into the place alone, he was scuttling back out, a wide grin on his round face as another wishing star clutched firmly in his palms. Lafayette snapped it up when Noah offered it, giving him a firm pat on the head, and turning to try and lead the way back out.
Somehow, it was easier and Dova met them with her standard puppy-like fan fair. For once, the Aussie welcomed it. Despite the task at hand, he wasn’t feeling annoyed as he’d expected once the task had started. Climbing up on Dova’s back again, Lafayette didn’t need to flick Cheri this time to get her to hand out the next coordinates. Good to see she was finally paying attention to that at least.

✧✧【Feeling a great sense of relief as they left the forest behind, their next stop in Cerulean was only about a couple minutes’ flight away. Unfortunately, Cerulean Cave was a bit of a touchy area for them to be scouting around for stars in, mostly because the Indigo League in particular were very adamant about keeping the place pretty closely guarded. Of course it was mainly so some kid that only just earned their second gym badge wouldn’t try to venture into the cave themselves only to get their asses kicked by the super strong Pokemon that inhabited it, only strong trainers who had earned all eight badges were permitted to enter. Though perhaps the League had been so protective about the cave because it was where the experimental Pokemon Mewtwo had taken up residence after it escaped the mansion in Cinnabar, blowing the entire building to kingdom come and leaving it a burnt, decrepit ruin in its wake. Eveline had seen the Pokemon Mansion fairly up close herself when she’d gone on a couple trips to Cinnabar for business-related matters. Really made one wonder how and why anyone would think it was a good idea to create such a powerful yet unstable Pokemon in the first place, but considering Rocket's close involvement in the project surely there had been ulterior motives on their part…
Regardless, apparently Mewtwo hadn’t been seen in the cave for years, supposedly having perished during the collapse that had happened in recent times. All things considered, she highly doubted such a thing had happened, it would take a lot more than that to be able to kill such a strong Pokemon so easily. But as long as there was a chance Mewtwo was still out there somewhere, Giovanni wouldn’t be giving up his persistent efforts to find the legendary anytime soon… Eveline certainly hoped she’d never see the day where he might actually succeed, such power in the hands of the head honcho of a huge criminal organization could only spell disaster for anyone involved.】✧✧

It had maybe been only a few minutes since they’d gone in, but she was already starting to get pretty antsy as the seconds ticked by. The longer they took, the higher the chance they could possibly get caught by one of the Indigo League’s guard dogs...
”Yes, we’ve found it. It’ll just take Soho and I a bit to return, I’ve forgotten how utterly disorienting and convoluted the tunnels in here are,”the Delphox telegraphed back, sounding a bit sheepish. Of course it’d be more of an issue for them since they couldn’t phase through walls and obstacles like Sin and Chardonnay could, but finding the exit shouldn’t be too much of a problem if they hadn’t gone in too deep. Thankfully it didn’t take them much longer to pop back out of the cave with the star in tow, the pair of ghosts having helped out with showing them the way back. Good, another one down, five more areas left to search here in Kanto for the rest of the stars they had to collect.】✧✧

As Gio entered the cave one more sign could be seen. This one said 'If nobody is at entrance do not pass unless you have all 8 Kanto Badges' at this he blinked. Did they really think he would stop here? They really didn't know who he was, if a sign was going to stop him he wouldn't have even left Cerulean.
They wondered around for a little while. Gio wasn't even sure where to find water to fish from in this cave but if he was supposed to find other Pokemon that job would be done by now.
