Arriving outside of Victory Road Simon saw a Pokecenter had been built for those who were training in the cave system. The dark Pokemon attempted to blast Florges away with a few dark pulses however Florges kept using Moonblast to knock the Pokemon back. It only took a few attacks before the wild Pokemon had fainted. Simon actually already had one so he returned Florges after healing her up.

Another Vullaby appeared and attacked after Simon healed Florges up from the few attacks she did take. The bird Pokemon played up to its strengths attacking with flying moves however the dark typing didn't help it get further as the Pokemon took the blasts from Florges and fainted after a few turns.

Healing Florges up another Pokemon came out and attacked which was only a surprise because of the entry, "Durant the iron ant Pokemon. They attack in groups, covering themselves in steel armor to protect themselves from Heatmor." It was strange to only see one but then again it was also a bad thing because steel was strong against Fairy and Dragon attacks. Since that was his entire team the only thing he could do would be to switch someone out for Greninja, then again that was why he was still on the team (that and he was his starter).

Even Abomasnow would be a poor choice since those moves were weak against the steel Pokemon. Simon might have switched him out since he was the lowest level Pokemon but he didn't want Greninja to get hurt by the hail. Instead he sent out Hydreigon first as he was the next lowest level Pokemon.

The next Pokemon to appear was once again a dragon so he did make a good choice here they were a higher level and the type from the gym he was going to go against next. The next Pokemon that appeared was "Heatmor the anteater Pokemon. It draws in air through its tail, transforms it into fire, and uses it like a tongue. It melts Durant and eats them." For some odd reason Simon wanted this Pokemon so he decided he would let Hydreigon come out first then switch him for Greninja to make sure that they catch it right away.

The first throw of the Pokeball drew the fainted Pokemon into the ball in a flash of red light. The ball shook once, then twice then the Heatmor broke free. Simon knew he only had one more chance as he threw a second Pokeball. This one did shake all three times and dinged to show the Pokemon was caught before the ball vanished heading to his PC.

Heading inside of the actual tunnels of the Victory Road Simon continued to search for new Pokemon. Inside he came upon another Deino and with Hydreigon reaching level sixty he decided to train up Noivern in order to get him to level seventy before bringing the others up to that level as well. Maybe at that point in time they'd be ready to take on the Unova final gym.

Healing Noivern up Simon returned him as they continued further into Victory Road knowing this was the place for trainers. It was the final test before the Elite Four and the Championship to prove you are the best in the region. With that Simon wondered if there was a World Championship, where the Champions of the regions gather for battle. Being drawn out of his thoughts Simon saw a Durant appeared. Now he normally would be hesitant to use Noivern or any dragon against steel Pokemon however he knew the flying attacks Noivern had would be perfect in this setting.
