Slidr - Wonder
Outside of Moonshop, "according to Norse Mythology, Slidr is a river in Hel, the land of the dead. Glaciers pour into it from the freezing well of Hvergelmir, and swords turn beneath its waters." -
WikiHomeworld Information
About the wonder:Before it was coated in a thick layer of ice, the Slidr River was once free flowing. Cool refreshing waters flowed from the mouth of Mimisbrunnr's Well of Knowledge and stretched on for miles and miles. Over the centuries the path itself has changed, carving its way through the landscape; however its final destination has always remained unknown.
Several small cities and towns have been built along its shores and has been used as a primary mode of transportation and trade between these more remote locations and other wonders. There were once whispers that the Knight of Slidr was the one responsible for forging these routes though it still remains unconfirmed whether or not this is true. Something to note, citizens who lived closest to the rivers origin often held an air of superiority about them believing that the Well of Knowledge granted them a higher intellect than those who took up residency further from the source; this is of course another rumor that has remained unconfirmed since Mercury as a whole is a planet that is driven by technological advances.
Slidr Knight - Past Life
About the Knight The Knight of Slidr is always a reincarnation and until present day, he has always been reborn on Mercury in one of the cities boarding the glacial river.
Name:Brandon Nicholas Reyes
Eyes: Dusty blue
Hair: Ink Black
Age:10 - learns he is a reincarnation; 12 - attends the Academy to learn how to be a proper knight; 17 - Returns to Slidr and accepts his mantle becoming the Knight of Slidr River; 23 - The Invasion; 24 - disappears/ abandons his wonder.
At the age of 10 almost 11, Brandon met his grandfather for the first time. Almost two decades prior, the older man had a falling out with his son over lack of ambition and disappointment that Brandon's father was not the one destined to be a Knight of Mercury.
Inky black hair and dusty blue eyes, the young boy had been spear hunting with a young polar bear cub in the Slidr River as his grandfather observed him from the shore. Unaffected by the cold temperatures as a normal man might be, the kid swam as if he were born to live in the glacial waters. He wore a wet suit which seemed ordinary enough and used a breathing apparatus that lacked a tank which permitted him to remain under water for an astounding amount of time.
It was an astounding sight to behold and only when the boy's head breached the surface did the old man call him over. "Boy! Come over here." He motioned with his wrinkly weathered hand as he turned around and took a seat on one of the several picnic benches. His voice sounded harsh and some what raspy when he spoke but Brandon paid it little mind since it was a tone similar enough to his fathers.
Deep set eyes framed in a web of wrinkles showing both the mans age and wisdom watched the young boy with a steady gaze. "There's some place I need to take you." He started by way of explanation for why he called his grandson over.
Beside the pre-teen the polar bear cub canted its head to the side, confusion played across its face by the way it looked up at the boy questioningly before shaking the water from its fur like a hound sending a spray of water droplets in every direction. The boy remained silent however and offered no apology for what his companion had just done.
The conversation between the two lasted for nearly an hour by the time Brandon finally excused himself to go change before accompanying his grandfather to Mimisbrunnr's Well of Knowledge. There was a burning question the old man needed answered; was his sons child the one he'd been waiting for? Was his Grandson the Mercury Knight that he had hoped to see reborn into his family line?
