Sebastian is one of those boys who is toned because he's skinny. Besides mandatory gym class he's hardly worked out a day in his life, but it doesn't seem he's had a need to. A naturally fast metabolism has kept the weight off him just as much as his surprisingly healthy diet has. He's certainly not muscular by any means, but to find even a pinch of fat on him is rare. In a higher percentile since birth, he has continued to grow to a whopping 6'1", with extremely long, lanky limbs. He has a rather sharp face with pointed features, giving him an almost unsettling appearance to many. He keeps his wine-colored hair longer in the front than in back, particularly on the right side, and was born with curiously red eyes.
Since very early on he has favored vaguely gothic styles and accessories. His wardrobe itself pales in comparison to the amount of accessories that he owns. Over the years he's picked up quite a few. Nothing special, and mostly bargain jewelry since the majority of his funds go elsewhere. He also loves gloves and occasionally vaguely 80's grunge-esque styles. Chains, pendants, earrings, gaudy rings, you name it. He's not ashamed to wear what he likes.
He's almost always got a look of distaste on his face, boredom, or annoyance. The world around him in generally annoys him, so that shows. He doesn't look very approachable, a mix of his typical expressions as well as his striking features. He tends to slouch as well, which has turned him to slumping by default and actually needing to make an effort to stand up straight. His back doesn't thank him for this!
PERSONALITY:
One's first impression of Sebastian would most likely be "that guy's an a*****e". And that impression, for the most part, would be quite correct. But believe me, he has good reason. At least in his opinion he does.
Growing up attending public school, Sebastian has always been smarter than the majority of his peers. Had his schools offered a gifted program or honors courses of any variety, he would have taken them. But a small school in a small town full of even smaller minds wore the boy's patience thin. He quickly developed the opinion that all people were unintelligent, uninteresting and immature. He rarely made friends, not because he didn't want friends or because he was incapable of making them, but because he didn't consider his classmates "friend" material. They played silly games and pranks, were loud and obnoxious, and had seriously bad taste in music. They didn't apply themselves in school (not that the school system was anything to brag about), and so they never retained anything of value.
By default he learned to be short, sarcastic, and borderline rude to most people, unless they give him a reason to be otherwise. There have been times where even his teachers have said something incorrect where he's had absolutely no problem bringing their errors to light. Naturally this often lead to arguments and detention, as did the occasional argument with a classmate when forced to work on group projects. But he usually keeps to himself and tries to work on his own. Many of his teachers have allowed him to work on solo projects for exactly this reason, and they can never seem to make the work hard enough that it persuades him to work with others to get out of it.
All of that being said, Sebastian will always give credit where it is due, and if he meets someone with a lick of intelligence or talent that he can recognize, his tolerance level starts to go up. It's a long process to completely earn Sebastian's respect and start to work your way up to friend level, and even then the friendship will almost certainly be constantly laced with sarcasm and snide comments. But he's as genuine a friend as you will ever find, and fun to be around if you can appreciate his sarcastic sense of humor. Often times his idea of having fun and hanging out with friends mostly involves smoking a bowl*, then lounging about playing video games, listening to music, or playing it.
One of the most important things in the entire world to Sebastian, second only to his little sister, is his music collection. Don't ever ask to borrow his music! He'll gladly share within the confines of his room, but that's all. Music is more than just sound to him. Over the years he has put almost every cent he's ever earned into buying music in every media ever created, in virtually every genre, provided he finds the music intellectually and emotionally stimulating. If there's anything he's passionate about, it's music. Anything from Beethoven to Behemoth, and it's one of the only easy ways to rope him into a conversation. Even if that conversation does become overly critical and technical. He's been playing guitar fairly well for around three years, and intends to dabble with other instruments as well.
Besides music his interests are mainly reading (he has an enormous book collection as well, and prefers the classics - his favorite authors are Tolkien and Stoker) and gaming (console, PC, online - it's not uncommon for him to binge for several hours on an online game, talking trash the entire while). While his specific interests are few, he puts his entire heart and soul into each and every one of them.
HISTORY: Sebastian's home situation was nothing to be proud of, nor was there anything particularly troublesome about it. His parents were Felix and Annelie Horn, two unfortunately irresponsible individuals. Annelie met Felix during her senior year of high school, and was only lucky enough to be able to finish the year after discovering she was pregnant. Sebastian was born in the fall, several weeks early and, not surprisingly, a bit small - something he'd grow out of quite literally, and at an alarming rate. His parents married shortly after his birth (they loved each other, but to say the baby didn't have a lot to do with why they married would be a lie), but they had already set the pace for what would be a somewhat disappointing life for their son.
Felix Horn had already been "well established" in his position as a part time manager at the local car wash in their town. It was nothing impressive, but he did make enough to support his new wife and son. Annelie never went to college after Sebastian's birth, nor did she go to work. Over the next seventeen years she would occasionally work odd jobs (never "real" - aka tax paying- jobs, but more along the lines of favors and small bits of work for family and friends), and Felix would be promoted to full time manager. They bought a small two bedroom house near the school Sebastian would one day attend.
When Sebastian was ten, Annelie gave birth to a little girl, Lisbet, the only person Sebastian has ever become instantly attached to and loved unconditionally. It didn't matter that she was a drooling sack of uselessness that did nothing interesting and wouldn't have anything intelligent to say for years. He loved every inch of her and took it upon himself to make up for their parents and their shortcomings. He made sure she never wanted for anything, and was always her best friend. They were infinitely closer than he would ever be with his parents. Not because they were terrible parents, nor was their relationship terribly strained, but he had little in the way of respect for them due to his own personal view on the choices they made when they were young. Even if those choices lead to the lives of he and his sister, he's always felt very strongly about getting all of your ducks in a row before starting a family. The fact that his own birth wasn't exactly intentional only strengthens his resentment.
It was around age twelve that Sebastian first started to display signs of being...different. He'd rarely asked for his parents for anything. If he wanted something he usually bought it with his own allowance, which he rightfully earned in amounts that his parents decided on. But some things you can't just buy without asking. And one of those things is a kitten. While walking home from school one day he saw a family sitting outside their house trying to give away a litter of unwanted kittens. He decided to take a look, even though he had never had any real attraction towards animals. One kitten in particular, a little black fluff, sat away from the rest, looking bored and unamused by his siblings. Sebastian took him home on the spot.
Naturally his parents weren't happy when they found out that he'd been keeping a baby kitten hiding in his room for two weeks. He'd bought a litter box and food with his own savings, and named the little critter Wolfgang. But they insisted that he get rid of him. Sebastian was crushed. He begged and pleaded, then demanded. And suddenly...they changed their minds. His parents never responded to demands, but this time they did, as easily as if it had been their idea all along and they wanted him to have a pet in the first place.
This was odd, but it took several more instances in which individuals changed their minds suddenly or did what he told them to, especially when he was being cranky and irrational. Sebastian was already well enough into reading that his first instinct was to run straight to the library. For weeks he poured over every book he could find about the occult, supernatural and magical things of almost any variety, and religions with involvement in powers of any kind. Hell, he even went so far as to read into cases of alleged alien abduction resulting in the victims claiming they were changed or had "powers" of some sort (which he immediately discounted as the biggest load of crap he'd ever read).
Over the next few years his own personal library grew to include a fairly impressive collection of books on the occult. He knew that there was clearly something that he could tap into, something that others couldn't understand and probably never would. The more he delved into his research, something else in particular started to occur. Beyond what he had definitely decided had to be some sort of hypnosis, he started to see what he knew from his reading were people's auras. At first it was faint, and very rare, but as time went by and he became more in tune to this, the easier and more common it became.
But the discoveries were far from over for Sebastian. He was fifteen when he got a shock as big as the hypnosis. He hadn't had a particularly good day at school. For a while now he'd been dealing with classmates who talked behind his back (and sometimes to his face) about how weird he was. The way he looked, dressed, talked, and always had some creepy book he was reading. Usually it didn't bother him, but he was extremely annoyed that one boy had gone so far as to do a very poor impression of him, which had gotten quite a laugh out of a good number of people. He went home in a rage. When he reached his room, infuriated, he slammed the door. Thing was, he hadn't so much as touched it. Confused and alarmed, he opened the door...and then did it again. Needless to say he was quite pleased when it fully sank in that he could move things with his mind, and it was a skill he used often.
Two years later he came across the Majesco Psychic Academy website. It intrigued him, but part of him (until further research proved otherwise) thought it was a scam, and the other part of him didn't want to leave Lisbet. So he bookmarked the webpage and left it alone. But not for long.
A couple of weeks later there was a tragedy in the Horn household. Nobody knew who or when, but at some point someone left the front door open just enough for Wolfgang to run loose. He didn't go far, and was on his way home knowing where food was at the same time that Felix was driving home from work. It was dark, and Wolfgang's coloring didn't help matters any. Details set aside, the cat didn't make it. Sebastian was heartbroken, and didn't speak to his father for days.
The next day Sebastian was playing a board game with his sister. The game was going well at first, but after a while Lisbet got it into her head that her incorrect way of making a particular move was certainly the right way. Sebastian tried to explain to her the "normal" way how to do it, but she insisted. So he tried "his" way, but to no avail. He'd rarely had any luck hypnotizing his sister, for reasons he couldn't explain. The argument escalated and, rare as it was, Sebastian started to get irritated with his sister. Understandably he was already on edge after Wolfgang's death. When he snapped at her to stop, the pieces of the board game flew up in all directions as if he'd slammed on the board with his fist. Lisbet was terrified, and Sebastian more guilty than he'd ever been.
That night he explained to his parents what had been going on. He showed them what he was capable of doing, which he had succeeded in hiding from them for five years. They were alarmed and more than a little confused, but there was no denying what was right in front of their faces. They designed tests of their own to make sure that this was not just an elaborate prank pulled by their intelligent son. He could do things, end of story. And he wanted to go to school with other kids to learn to control it. He had so far been lucky not to hurt anyone, not knowing in full what was going on, and he wasn't about to hurt his sister. They worried, no question about that. Would it be safe for him to go? Would Lisbet end up the same way? The three of them told Lisbet together, and by the following week he was off to Majesco. He'd spend every day writing back and forth to his sister, and wondering if some day she'd join him.
FUN FACTS:

* Sebastian has a very serious stance on drugs, alcohol, and even cigarettes. Marijuana he does not consider to be a drug - he's done his research and promotes the health benefits (and, hell, it's fun for him). Any chemical drugs or alcohol on the other hand he will very passionately voice his opinion on, and refuses to associate himself with anyone who uses these substances if they won't at least make an attempt to quit, whatever that may take. His reason for this (besides having knowledge that they are simply bad for you) is very personal. At one point he had a friend growing up - possibly the closest friend he ever had - that found himself in a very poor lifestyle incredibly early on. He was lucky enough to survive, but after many months of living with his addictions with Sebastian trying to steer him in the right direction, the boy was sent off to rehab, and afterwards remained in another state living with his aunt as an attempt to keep him from the "bad people" he associated with. Sebastian never fully got over this, and his opinion on substance abuse was solidified.

A creature of comfort, Sebastian made sure to stuff every nook and cranny of the car with as much of home as he could manage, and it shows. His posters depicting various artists he admires plaster the walls of his room. The twin bed has been made up with black sheets and a plush black comforter, wonderfully soft and warm. A small shelf is stuffed from end to end with his favorite books, each one in marvelous condition though still clearly used. Stacked on top of the shelf is an assorted collection of CDs, and even more are stacked in CD organizers on either side of the bed. The stereo itself is pushed right up against the bed, a set of bulky headphones still plugged into it. Next to it lies a very peculiar object for such a room: a small picture frame with a photo of Sebastian, Lisbet, and Wolfgang. Nothing of importance yet.

LISBET HORN | SISTER | AGE SEVEN
Lisbet is the only person Sebastian has felt instantly attached to unconditionally. From day one he's felt the need to protect her, love her, and give her everything she needs. His psychic outburst that terrified her is the reason he finally went to his parents about his abilities. Lisbet is very much like her brother in that she is a sharp young girl, though she is considerably more sociable than he is (if not a little strange). She has yet to display any psychic abilities. They write to each other daily.
FELIX HORN | FATHER | AGE THIRTY-EIGHT
While not having a particularly damaged relationship with him, Sebastian doesn't look up to his dad too highly. He believes in properly courting a girl, not getting them pregnant while they're still in high school. So his view of his dad is a little distorted. Felix is a pretty enjoyable fellow to be around, if not a little bit unmotivated.
ANNELIE HORN | MOTHER | AGE THIRTY-FIVE
Sebastian's mother is pretty similar to his father in his eyes. He doesn't have much respect for her for the way things went when they were kids, and always wished a little bit that she would think about furthering her education once he and Lisbet got a little older (she has been considering this). Annelie is a very soft-spoken individual, friendly but quiet. Sebastian has lived his entire life in the same small, two bedroom house. It's conveniently located close enough to all of the schools he has attended, from elementary up through high school, close enough that he could walk. When Lisbet was old enough to start attending school he started walking her to kindergarten every morning.
The house is a little on the older side, but in pretty fair condition. Felix has enough handyman knowledge that he's kept up with most of the repairs himself, and Sebastian has caught on to some of these things when asked to help. Felix and Annelie have always made sure to provide for Sebastian and Lisbet in any way they need, though they are by no means rich. Most of what Sebastian owns outside of necessities he has bought for himself, whether off allowance or his own earnings.
