Sanele grumbled as she left the large intimidating room where the General had met her and taken the message. Why'd Lan have to make me deliver the stupid message to some hoity toity disgraced General? She thought irritably as she slouched her way through the house. All around her was riches and luxuries she and her family could only dream at.... It was like seeing everything she wanted and being told she could never have it! It sucked! She looked out one open window to see a young Janarim lounging in the garden. It really rankled! They even had a Janarim! Just look at the glory of it! She sighed, jealous of that. She loved Xaraan and wanted to race and raise them.... but Janarim were just so lovely! Her eyes saw the girl, a few years older than herself, playing with yet another Janarim and she glared at her. Lucky! She was about to turn away when she spotted the glint of gold off of a strange looking bug. It was HUGE! Well... compared to the bugs about here! Was that from the Tednaji lands? Burying her jealousy for a bit, she hopped out the window and trotted over towards them. "Yo! Is that bug from Tendaji?" She asked eagerly as she approached. The Anesthesia Sanele's journal's here for you to read and see what she looks like. Her clothing are obviously not the richest and quite beaten.

Amir had been the first to spot the intruder even though he had been dozing in warmth that his favorite lounging spot in the garden provided. Strong jaw snapped open and a thrumming of powerful vocal cords produced a series of throaty snarls and threatening growls, in reply Essid, the larger of the two Janarim lowered his frame and extended the length of his talons while he raised the spiky end of his clubbed tail. Silently the bronze complexioned redhead that had been seated with the yellow tinted beast raised a slender hand and snapped her fingers instantly drawing the attention of the rowdy pair.
“That is no way to greet a guest, boys,” Nera murmured, her diction crisp yet silken in tone as she addressed her companions. Bright hues drank the sight in before her, the girl was several years younger than she herself with a round nose and rather full lips, pulling her feet out from underneath herself the redhead forced herself into a standing position despite the pain that she felt in the soles of her feet as the lively girl inquired about her precious Maglardilla. “Jauhar to be exact, his name is Jinx.” Nera found herself pleasantly informing the youth as she have her hand a dismissive wave signaling for both Janarim to relax fully, it seemed once the gesture was made the two stifled their precaution, the earthy-toned male resumed his leisurely endeavor while the larger beast sat on his hindquarters and mutely snarled towards Sanele while glowering at her through narrowed slits of bejeweled crimson.
“You will have to excuse them, their exceedingly possessive, that one other there is Amir and the one undoubtedly staring a hole through you right now is Essid. I’m Nera by the way, enchanted I am sure.” Extending her hand towards the younger girl she couldn’t help but add a faint smile to her rather subdued features, dropping her gaze from the girl’s face downward she quickly noted the lack of appearance, she was clothed in something akin to rags and her dirty bare feet denoted callouses along the outer sole surely this girl was from a lesser Oban house, once something like that would have mattered to Nera but her return from the wilds prestige was no longer something that infatuated her. She offered her hand in greeting as an equal and didn’t recoil at the close proximity of the urchin. “My little Jinx interests you, does he?” Chuckling softly Nera gave her head a shake sending her braid along her clavicle then over her shoulder where it became stuck. Drawing her lips together she let out a short whistle and within moments a horned head peeked up from his resting spot, jittering mandibles parted excitedly while letting out a high-pitched squeal. He was being summoned! Snatching up a small ball made of soft leather Jinx scuttled over towards the pair then shimmied his way up his mistress’ legs and positioned himself comfortably on her chest until she cupped his lower body and forced him to turn around and greet the stranger. Flailing around with his winged membranes the golden-tinted insect gurgled around the ball in his mouth and offered his best friendly noise towards the new plaything.

Sanele approached the growling Janarim calmly; not wanting to show fear or hesitation because animals tended to react to it. Act calm and like you are the dominant one! She walked right up to the one the other had called Essid and looked him over. "Really good specimens these ones are.... You got them from Jenjei's farm didn't you? He's got some good bloodlines." Jenjie was the filthy rich bloke who sold his janarim to the nobles almost exclusively, something she wanted to be able to do one day! She'd had to sneak in real carefully and watch from a distance to get a look at them. Best look she'd gotten was when her master had taken her along when he went to trade some of his better Xaraan racers for a Janarim for his second son. She hadn't seen much of them but she'd seen enough to at least know when a Janarim were top of the line.. Plus this was a rich household... Disgraced or not, Sanele doubted the General would want anything but the best! Once she'd glared back at the Janarim she turned to examine the bug. It looked rather meaty for a bug.... Jauhaur was a ... jungle if she recalled the rumors right. Where it rained every day... Which sounded like a rumor but who knew, maybe it was true! "Ya think it's edible? Looks like it!" She'd eaten smaller bugs when she'd been really hungry and they hadn't tasted too good.. but this one looked tasty. "What's Jauhur like? Does it really rain there every day? Ya know of any other types of beasts there? Like ones that can be tamed or trained? ya know anything else about the Tendaji lands?" She poked the bug and examined it as best she could, half crouched to get a better look. Right here was something from the other lands! Something new and interesting! Pretty too... It could be sold as a pet she bet... but also as a food supply if it tasted good enough!

Knife-like claws tore into the sand covered ground as if kneading the soil to keep from lashing out at the small female that thought herself worthy to approach him, giving his large head an irritated toss Essid forced himself to remain calm while the pest spoke to his beloved-mate; didn’t it realize that its presents was a nuisance and if it so much as breathed wrong he would have it’s neck snapped between his teeth before it had the moment to correct itself. Amusement for a moment painted the redhead’s expression before she shot the silent yet anxious Janarim a sweet glance that made the creature sink to the ground and usher out a throatily warble in compliance. “You have a good eye, they are litter mates from the top breeding pair. My mother was on a waiting list for a while before these two were born. Normally he only sells singles but they both took a liking to me so I insisted that I couldn’t separate them.”
Pausing as the unknown girl continued her verbal conquest for information Nera shifted from one foot to the next, standing was something that had become taxing especially since the scarred flesh over her soles blistered daily and required draining or lengthy bouts of herbal footbaths; today it seemed the leathers of her sandals cut directly into the branded markings on her feet and made the standard task rear impossible. Pouty lips pulled taunt for a moment before curving into a small O shape while one of the redhead’s brows quirked ever so slightly, was she really asking if Jinx was edible, what sort of person just asked that sort of thing about someone’s pet? Opening her mouth to speak Nera happened to glance down at the wriggling form in her grasp, spindial like legs prodded into her chest while slapping away the airy poke the girl nudged in his direction while somehow his mouthless features conveyed indignation at the comment. “He is so adorable when he looks offended,” clearing her throat some Nera continued on while making direct eye-contact with the girl in front of her. “They are edible, but he isn’t. They’re a delicacy actually, the species is called Maglardilla,” easing the length of her slender digits along the top of his head soothed the side of his face until he settled down and stopped tapping her chest nervously. “If we are to continue this line of discussion I would very much like to know your name and perhaps move this inside where we can partake in refreshments. I assume you are hungry and not opposed to keeping me company for a short while. I have plenty of stories about Jauhar and the battle of Tale.”

"Temper temper." Sanele murmured with a smirk as the young Janarim tore into the turf. She left off teasing it; no sense in risking injury if she pushed it too far! "Lucky..." She gave a jealous sigh when she learned this girl had gotten two of the best bloods. I'll have to work hard and long to even get a chance at that! Noble brats get all the good stuff, she thought to herself. And they can even demand both pups and get away with it! She kept her sneer hidden and instead smiled; "I'm called Sanele. Sanele Kubu and refreshments would be okay. I've got some time afore I need to head back to boss." Her eyes flickered to the feet; the other girl was hiding it rather well, but it looked like she was uncomfortable standing on them. Weird.. "Don't fret yourself; I'm not gonna eat it! Its a pet... and pets are only eaten when you're starving which I'm not. But if they are a food.. wonder if we can bring them here to breed and farm?" She said as she followed Nera. For Sanele, everything was about the future, everything was in cost versus gain. What would she get out of this? "I'd like to hear more about the creatures of the other lands, don't really care about the war." War was death and waste, why bother listening to stories about that when she could learn about strange creatures and lands?

Brushing the growing length of braided hair behind her shoulder Nera turned in the direction that lead to the inner-workings of her mother’s estate. At the subtle murmur of the term ‘lucky’ the redheaded prentice chose to ignore the word rather than give her opinion on the comment, instead the boyish youth adjusted her grasp on a wiggling Jinx and gently pressed the flat of her hand against the exposed back of the girl beside her. “Sanele, that is a lovely name, I’ve never heard of the House of Kubu before though I’m afraid, perhaps I will hear that name around more.” Upturning the corners of her mouth Nera steered the dark-haired girl towards a small dining area with a low set table and oversized seating pillows, bowls of fruit and room temperature hors-d'oeuvre greeted the pair upon arrival; gesturing towards one of the large silken cushions Nera proceeded to ease herself at the other end of the table and let out a soft hiss of relief as she nestled into the plush stuffing of the pillow before drawing herself up and placing an elbow at the edge of the stone counter with relaxed expression on her face. “He wouldn’t go down easy if you did try to eat him,” she teased before continuing. “I’m not sure if the Maglardilla would do well in the desert climate, they actually never come down from the treetops, the ground floor of Jauhar is dangerous and often larger predators dwell there. Though,” pausing for a moment the redhead gestured towards the meal that was spread out in front of them indicating for Sanele to begin. “It could be lucrative, I mean they would taste different of course and more than likely would have a higher fat content because they wouldn’t need to climb all the time. It is an interesting idea to entertain.”
While Nera spoke her beasts gathered behind her and burrowed against her lean frame, reaching out with willowy fingertips the bronze-complexioned prentice gathered up a handful of thinly sliced meats then proceeded to dip the slivers into a spiced cream sauce. “The war was horrible,” for a brief moment pink eyes became unfocused and the smile fixed on her face wavered. “The only interesting thing that came from the war was this huge beast called a Yaotl. I’ve never seen anything like it before. I would--- love to take one of its young and raise it for my own. It would be glorious… anyhow. As far as the other beast of the rainforest goes there are plenty that I saw but up close the only one I encountered was a radaku, my mate and myself had to defend ourselves against one, she was mauled fairly badly. Vicious creatures, gorgeous though, beautiful horns and elegant snouts with rows of dagger-like fangs. Truly gorgeous. You seem to fancy beasts, thinking of going into that line of work?”

The Anesthesia Saneles thoughts: nobles are weird strange things.... good for money though! 8D Sanele snorted in amusement; "House of Kubu?" She said in an amused tone. "How fancy... Kubu's just Da's last name.... We're no noble house! But you'll get to hearing the name soon enough! After I get some experience an enter the Xaraan races!" The big ones.. the official ones with sponsors, prize money, and huge crowds! She was slightly impressed at the silent and very quick servant waiting with tasty snacks. She wasn't sure what they were called but they tasted ice! Not filling at all though... " M-pmh." She mumbled an agreement before swallowing. "New tastes, if they are good, would be okay.. though I would prefer to actually have a farm of larger beasts.. non farm animals iffn you would."She cocked and eyebrow up when the girl mentioned the war. Had this noble actually gone? Guess a general mother would want her daughter too... gain honor or glory or whatever in the war. Sanele thought dispassionately, stupid woman. War was no place for girls her age! Guess nobles see things differently.... "Yoatl? you mean the Matori beast? ... I was hoping you'd know of... Tendajian beasts. Though... from what I've heard it might be a nice beast to have... Like our Arwas..." She wrinkled her nose. The Arwa's were nice enough..but she preferred a bit smaller mount! Easier to take care of. She paused in her munching to give the other a stare; "Mate? You?" She sounded incredulous; why would someone this young have a mate of all things already? Female too. Didn't nobles try to have marriages where there was a baby so the blood line continued? Least wise, that's what she'd always thought! She shook her head and focused instead on the last bit. "This.. radaku sound interesting... got promise! And in the jungles close to us.... that would be easiest....But easiest isn't always best." She mused, her eyes unfocusing while she thought about it. But since it was so close.. Most of the other hunters would be there already, gathering up these interesting beasts. Ones farrther away held greater promise as Sanele knew she would be here in Oba for a few years yet.... Pulling her mind back she focused in on the noble girl. "Always loved animals, so yeah.... Gonna have my own ranch eventually. Maybe just Xaraan racers, maybe exotic beasts. Gotta go and see what lies out there first before I make my choice on what to have!" There would always be Xaraan at her farm. She loved them too much to not breed them!

Pink eyes drank in the younger woman’s mannerisms and carefully watched her mouth as she pushed one of the appetizers between her lips and hungrily devoured it, a pleased light dancing in her red gaze. Nera shifted ever so slightly on the cushion that she resided in, her long legs twisted uncomfortably for just a moment before curling under the warm belly of her smaller Janarim; the way the girl deflected her politeness was unsettling yet not unexpected. People of lower class-status tended to keep to similar ranks, Sanele however didn’t seem to flinch in the company of the aristocratic redhead. The comment she had made about her title house, Kubu as it were hadn’t been in regard to social status but rather a polite nod in regards that the prentice saw the other female on equal grounds rather than some street urchin. Not feeling it necessary to explain herself the lean-built redhead dropped the matter and simply let her excitable guest gush about Xaraan races, agriculture of sorts and beasts.
At the disbelieving tone the dark-haired girl made Nera found herself pursing her lips and holding up a silencing hand to signal for a break so that she could elaborate on the current topic. “Yes, I have a mate. My mother is unaware of that fact and I would greatly be appreciative if you kept that information just between us,” lowering her hand Nera sighed heavily while keeping her faction features gregarious to some degree. “She is a Shifter, the one I call my mate. We met when I was out in the wilds, I saved her from that radaku I mentioned. I had to kill the creature. It is amusing actually,” a small giggle escaped the older of the two but she didn’t bother hiding it behind a shielding hand like most noble women did. “Just moments before that we had been trying to kill each other. But I digress, this is just between you and myself. So,” relaxing a bit after speaking her mind Nera burrowed into the plated flesh of Essid while pouring herself a drink and signaling to the servant in the corner to bring out the main entrée. “You’ve settled on a ranch then? That’s got to be a lot of hard work, I personally I’m going to travel, I don’t have the faintest idea of what the future holds for me. I just know I will share it with Lucijah but all the other details aren’t written yet. I admire you for having such vision for yourself, my mother was like you when she was younger. Everything you see around you is a testament to that. Tell me Sanele, after you have dined with me, what else awaits you on this fine day?”

How strange, to see a noble stating she had a mate... and one from the tendajian lands at that! I bet she doesn't want her mother to know.... which means maybe I can get some leverage on her. Not now though. Later. Maybe she can be used as a sponsor into the races in the future? It bore thinking on! She smiled; "I'll prolly not end up chatting with your mother.... and am not one to just blab so your secret's safe." For now. "I suggest you think and plan... otherwise you'll not get anything done." Sanele said in a slightly disapproving tone. Only a rich person would casually think about just randomly traveling about! How people lived listlessly with no goal and just floated from place to place Sanele couldn't understand. She always had that goal, always sought out a path to walk. "I suppose I've settled there for now. Eventually I'll try entering the official Xaraan races!" Her eyes gleamed for a second. One day... "And one day own my own ranch. Probably Xaraan and some of the animals from the tendajian lands..." If there was something out there worth bringing back or could survive here! She ate a few more bites and leaned back, lounging in the chair. "I'll return to work and see what Lan's got planned. If nothing I may see about going to the races and watching." It'd been a while since she'd had a free afternoon to go watch the races...

Pinning her hand to her chin the oldest of the pair seemed to drift off into thought, she gave an appreciative nod towards the girl as she informed her that she wouldn’t discuss private matters with her mother; not that she was truly worried yet it was good to have someone’s word regardless. Lazily Nera continued to pick at the cutlets of meat that had been left to remain on the table throughout the duration of their meal. Only a few moments passed before the house attendant reemerged from somewhere deep within the main estate, for a noble family the food that was brought out seemed to be that of the working-class faction of Oba though better prepared and of a higher quality of ingredients; stuffed melon wrapped with charred fatback, a thinned soup seasoned with generous amounts of mint and thyme. The centrally plated entrée however stood out against the side dishes, the small portion of heated cheese topped with bright red roe and a sliver of a yellow tomato blared up from the white platter it resided upon and spoke volumes of exactly how privileged and well-off the young woman was. If the meal itself hadn’t been enough boasting for Sanele to take the fact that it all was accompanied with a demitasse of extremely bitter black liquid and a confection that was coated in a white shell of crystalized sweetness and a cream filling. Decadent didn’t even begin to come close to the proper term to describe the upper-class cuisine.
Balking at the spread set before them Nera pinched the bridge of her crooked nose and apologetically gestured to the food. “I do hope this is to your liking,” a shallow cough attempted to hid the embarrassment she felt coloring her tenor as she spoke, the poor girl probably thought she was flaunting her mother’s wealth when in reality the venue had been chosen weeks ago and was in no way a flashy show of status. “You speak of the beasts so fondly, I think it would be splendid if you owned your own Xaraan. Maybe if you take me to see a race with you this evening we could take a walk and discuss--- some sort of agreement? You have a strong build, if we found you a bird of equal resolution and body you very well could be a very lucrative racer. What do you say? Keep me company for a while longer, perhaps earn your first Xaraan?”

Sanele was impressed at the food; talk about casually showing off wealth! It made her that much more eager to obtain wealth. I could probably sell these and feed my family a week on less expensive food, she thought cynically as she eyed it. While not hungry right now, she did want to see if it tasted as good as it looked.... She smirked at the girls flush; barely seen on the dark skin but there. Something like this couldn't have been made so quickly... I guess she eats this extravagantly wealthy meals all the time? Sanele leaned back and waited to for Nera to serve (or get served) first. "My own xaraan, ehh?" She said, her voice a little deeper as she eyed Nera. To so causally speak of purchasing a Xaraan.... especially one from a good line, spoke more than the food of wealth. Any good chef could make plain food into a meal fit for the king... but the cost of good bloodlines in an animal was not something that could be bought by those trying to act wealthy. "And what do you get out of it? I'll keep you company at the race certainly... but there's gotta be more in it for you. I doubt your mother would allow you to throw away that much money for charity." Sanele would accept.. but only after she heard the terms. A xaraan, the one she was eyeing, would cost a hefty amount, a fortune. it wasn't even one of Lan's Xaraan... but instead a competing ranch who dealt almost exclusively in racers. And that exclusivity meant a bigger price tag but almost guaranteed results.

The servant had made quick work of presenting the food for both women before exiting from the dinning chamber so that the pair could serve themselves in privacy, just like with General Talia her daughter enjoyed being left alone with company so that she felt more at ease to discuss various topics freely. Pushing away from her spot at the head of the table Nera made her way towards the younger girl, each step she took revealed discomfort and a loosely worn grimace played along her expression until she came to a halt just at Sanele’s elbow.
Soft words escaped the lean-figured noble as she plated generous portions onto her guest’s dish. “My mother doesn’t govern my finances; I’ve handled my own fiscal responsible for years,” placing the tray down in front of Sanele the beast charmer continued, her voice silken yet firm. “You’re right of course. No one is simply going to buy you a racer out of the kindness of their heart. However, my terms are very simple. I want to be your primary sponsor and I want you to win.” A small chuckle escaped the older woman as she made her way back towards her seat.
“I might not have any idea about my future but I have bright ideas that I want to explore right now and to see those reach fruition I need not only the backings but also a public figure to stand in the limelight. We can discuss details at the track but I have faith that you can be groomed to be a prize winner and that is exactly what we will do with you.” Gesturing towards the meal before them Nera waiting for the other to eat first before she herself partook. It was true, she didn’t have a life-goal set for herself but she did have a dream of establishing a business of her own in the heart of Oba, a grand arena where people from all walks of life could battle against beasts from around Tendaji in the comfort of their homeland as well as pit their own beasts against other’s animal companions to see who could raise the most vicious of combatants.

The Anesthesia wrote this while under full impact of evil allergens... hopefully it makes sense... Sanele was a bit surprised when the noble served her food.. how weird... She really should be sitting if it hurts her feet to walk, she thought to herself but didn't mention it. She wouldn't have let pain stop her so why should a noble? "Primary sponsor? I'm fine with that.. but I'm still going to be racing for my boss as well." She said, no way would she repay Lan for all his help and charity by leaving to just race for one lil noble girl! Plus he was family now.. and one stood by family through thick and thin. She smirked, apparently both of them had the same idea. "I was gonna use this not only to get my name and the name of my boss's ranch out... but also to make it easier to start my own xaraan ranch. Guess you've got a similar idea." She sampled the food on her plate; not bad... but she rather preferred her mother's food she was finding. The expensive ingredients tasted almost weird to her tongue, nice but.. weird. "As for grooming me;" her eyes glinted; "I've probably got better knowledge on how to race, what is needed, and how to trian than you. I can talk it over with you... but don't expect me to just follow your orders since you're offering money." Unless this girl had hung around watching as many races as she had, worked with Xaraan as much as she had, and spent most her waking time plotting and scheming about races. Doubtful since this girl had been away at war, dragged along by momma dearest. "All I need is practice and a good mount. Maybe some help elsewhere..."

Nera reclined, listening intently to the youth in front of her speak while testing the foods that were presented to her. Sanele’s expression reflected a mixture of varying reactions, something akin to distaste played along the curve of her mouth as she chewed yet her eyes seemed to hold a warm light behind them, in honesty Nera had no idea what the girl was thinking; normally she could hone in on some small detail but the younger woman was just too scattered for her to focus on any one facet, her body language, subtle expressions all seemed veiled to some degree and the beast charmer couldn’t help but feel uneasy somewhat. Maybe she was reading too far into things, perhaps the street urchin was just daft and simply beyond understanding.
Bright pink eyes narrowed into dangerous slits, was the girl listening to her with some idiot filter between her ears and brain? Not once did Nera imply she would be the one training her but the implication of her not being knowledgeable grated on her nerves. Forcing the sneer that found its way across her face into a twisted smile the older female straightened in her seat and steadied herself by exhaling pointedly through her barely parted lips.
“I understand where you might have misunderstood me by the term grooming,” Actually she didn’t but the girl seemed to have an issue grasping her diction. “I in no way meant me. Do I look like a racer? No. I simply meant you will grow into a prize winning competitor. That all is up to you, your routine, training schedule, picking out your mount. That is all up to you.” Trailing off Nera found herself folding her arms over her chest, her food untouched. “Help elsewhere, I would say maybe a lesson in manners for starters, we can’t have you going off half-cocked and talking down to someone important.” Pouty lips perked at the corner and tugged into a lopsided grin. “So, I can expect you back here in time to escort me to the racetrack or did you prefer to just meet there?”

Sanele smirked when she saw the other girl hide what seemed to be a scowl to her. Oh, did she not like her talking back? Too bad, prissy noble girl with her flaunting of wealthy and expensive food and janarim. She had to keep from rolling her eyes when Nera kept her cool and didn't get angry or snap back. Guess nobles have to keep their opinions and feelings to themselves! Very unlike the loud crass ways of her folks! "Good. Cause I've got a job with my uncle in law and Ive already got ideas and a place to train.... Fancy lady like you may or may not be a racer... but since I see Janarim and not Xaraan I'll assume the latter." Plus she needed the income of her job... and relying on non family to support her while she was being 'groomed,' distasteful word that, rubbed her the wrong way. She'd do this her way, and no bowing and scrapping or relying on charity! She stopped and blinked in surprise. Say what? "You want to go now for a race? No problem... if you don't mind standing for hours with us commoners... Dunno if they'll still have open seats for the wealthy left." Crazy lady and not realizing you had to buy the seated tickets before hand if you wanted to sit and see the race! Of course, she preferred the standing crowds simply because they were closer to the track! There was of course the small sectioned off place for the really wealthy or those close tot he owners of the track... That was placed just by the start/finish line and had the best seats in the house... if you didn't mind the smell and the crowds on either side.
