I'm at that point in my life where I'm about to make a pretty big decision. Well, personally I have been questioning it, but that's beside the point. I'm about to transfer to another community college and enroll in a program for people with high-functioning autism. Life is just one of those things, and if there is an opportunity to improve yourself, grab it and hold on tight before you lose sight of what you want to do next with your life. As I said, I'm skeptical of the program, but I'm trying my best to keep an open mind and embrace my current situation.

In the past, I have had some ok experiences with special ed. At some point in our lives, there will be a few (hopefully not many) rotten experiences that shape our view of the world around us. With that said, I'm still waiting for the people behind the program to respond. I may get in, I may not... don't get me wrong, I want to get in. I'm just crossing my fingers that it won't be dumbed down. I'm somewhat of a pessimist by nature. I'm also a little cautious and aware of goes on around me. Who really knows what could happen.... wink

I have absolutely no experience in dealing with this sort of thing, so I have no advice to offer, but I can wish you the best of luck!!!

I hope you make it! I need to start making opportunities like that for myself and taking them. So I definitely know what you mean on that part. Good luck!

Well, it's a program designed to help college students live away from home while learning how to organize for college and beyond. I would't call it special ed explicitly since I will be in a regular college setting. I'm still learning more about the program.

Also, the Autism Spectrum is incredibly diverse.

I feel like there is a lot of stigma attached to the idea of special ed. In other words, there is much more to it than what it seems.
