From time to time Tallulah, being a Merkora in the middle of a desert, found need of a good, long soak in water located in the caves or in an oasis. Today it was an oasis. They had seen him to it, making sure that he was comfortably under the water, before Eyphah seemed to realize that with Tallulah resting he would be in charge of Nehelini's care. To be honest it wouldn't be the first time he dealt with a young two-legs but it didn't mean that it was something that he was good at. What did they like to do he found himself wondering. Would he want to sit around and wait for Tallulah? Surely not, as attached as the little whelp was to the Merkora there were so many other things that they could be doing while he did his soaking. As such he found himself going over options, finally coming up with one that appealed to Eyphah more then it might Tallulah's little whelp, that idea being to go hunting. Not as though there weren't a million delicious things to go after in the desert.
Walking over to where the boy was he reached out, easily scooping him up, before taking to the air with his pair of glowing, scythe like wings. He glanced down at Nehelini as he went saying, "Tallulah will be soaking for a while, no need to waste that precious time when there are far better things to do then just sitting around." He told him, bringing them up a big higher to where they could easily survey the surrounding dunes. Eyphah's glowing pink eyes scanned around before he spotted what it was that he was looking for, something that had his lips pulling back into a big smile, "There we go, do you see? There are three Firani over there, sitting in the sand, enjoying the sun, stupidly oblivious to the fact that we are going kill them and take their orbs." A chuckle of delight escaped from the battle loving Diabi before he flapped his wings, starting in that direction.
"How many dragons have you fought? How many have you killed? I have had so many fights with them in the past and I have to say that the Firani are a type that are pretty fun to battle it out with. Just keep in mind I can't heal worth a damn, that's Tallulah's job." It was why he had so many scars, because he wasn't a healer, hells he had never cast a single spell in his life, but fighting... oh, fighting. It really was the best activity save for one other that he could think of, not that he'd say as much to a little whelp that was far too young to think of that sort thing. Once he was much older perhaps he'd bring him out to have that sort of fun, for the moment then only thing they could indulge in was fighting! It was something that he was so eager to get to, he couldn't flap his wings hard enough.
Looking down at the boy he said, "Here's the plan, I am gonna swoop down, put you down on your feet, and then take out one of the three. That will make it so it's one up one, a far more even battle, it will be fun!" He told the boy a moment before he was swooping down toward the ground, preparing to drop him off the moment they were close enough to do so.

The Oasis was a nice bright place when compared to the caves. The child prefered the out open wide skies to the rocky ceilings. Thankfully he didn't develop any sort of great fear from the ciicumstantces which led to his new home. Nehelini was getting used to all the different khehorians he saw and met within the small makeshift family. He had yet to meet Eyphah's “Mother” but was told she was a kind woman to Orakoi. Which was all well and good, but Nehelini was a Dovaa Child. Not one of the infant Orakoi who he got pounced by all the time. Being the youngest in his family he was used to doing the pouncing not being the pounced. Then again his eldest sister did say something about a person named Karma always going to get him back...he blinked. Was karma the name of one of the Orakoi? If so...what magic did his sister have?!? When they had arrived at the Oasis Nehelini had started to look for signs of his family. The child knew how his Uncle thought...though he searched for hours. There wasn't a thing. Feeling downtrodden the child had scuffled his way back to Tallulah's side to watch as the enchanting male slipped beneath the clear water surface. Seeing the male lazily swim underwater, Nehelini almost called out to remind him of swimming lessons. Almost. He remembered that Tallulah was with him nearly 24/7...scratch that. Tallulah was with him 24/7. Making sure the child was cared for and never alone. He sat back on his rear end, crossing his legs to just sit and watch. That was until someone decided he had to take a impromptu flying lesson! Nehelini let out a nearly soundless high pitched squeak as he clung to the male's chest. Hearing Eyphah the child shot him a pouting glare, 'That's all good and well, but a fair warning would have been nice!' he thought. The child was naive not foolish to utter that out loud. He would rather not be dropped today. He blinked as he looked over the dunes. Whoa. How in the world was he suppose to find his family in all that?!? His lavender gaze fell down as Eyphah chuckled. Okay...there was a sound he never wanted to hear again. He glanced back before the male's next words struck him.... “N-none! Uncle Jaxirus said he didn't want me holding a weapon till I was bigger!” the child squeaked out as he glanced back to the Staff on his back. The Staff which was a tad large for the child, but was a gift. He looked back to Eyphah. Some what relieved that the other male fought these things before. Wait a minute...that wasn't something to be relieved about! His instincts screamed at him. He paled at the other's next words. So wait...if he got hurt...that was a scar. Just great...Tallulah was going to flip when he got wind of this. Nehelini looked down then snapped his head back up, “O-okay...so I just use my reflexes and the staff to make sure the dragon doesn't kill me huh?”He was so going to tattle to Tallulah regardless if he lived through this...

Eyphah snorted, "I don't know who this 'Jaxirus' person is but I can tell you here and now that the guy is a complete idiot. Leaving you without a weapon in a place like Eowyn is the same as sending you out to die. This place can be hell for those who aren't properly prepared for it." He didn't care that the man was Nehelini's uncle, he was still an idiot, and Eyphah would be more then happy to say it to the man's face. He'd left the child without any sort of protect and what had come of it? He'd gotten himself chased around and beat up by Mara before Tallulah had come to the boy's rescue and got him back to a clan of Khehora for protection. It should have been that idiot protecting him, but no matter, they had the little whelp now and would fix the piss poor training that he'd gotten to this point.
"When you find yourself in the heat of the moment, standing against a dragon that wants to kill you, then you will know what to do. No amount of training will save you if you don't have the heart of a warrior, that little something extra that not everyone has, that will let you stand face to face with such a monster." He said, then grinned, "You'll be fine, you killed those Mara after all like they were nothing." With that he released his hold on Nehelini, dropping him into the hot sand near the dragons, and kept moving forward himself.
Mid flight Eyphah shifted from his more humanoid Khehorian form to that of his Khehora form in a seemless manner, touching down on the ground at a run. Giving a great roar Eyphah charged straight for the biggest in the trio of Firani, feeling that it was best that he got rid of that one first, and he slammed into it head long. Using his sharp claws Eyphah climbed the side of the dragon like a tree, leaving deep, bloody wounds behind before reaching its back where the savage attack continued. He went for the wings first, so that the dragon couldn't even think to fly away, then when it turned to face him he charged forward for its neck. Eyphah's forefeet caught hold of the dragon's neck, his jaws snapped shut on it's throat, and he attacked with his back feet and the scythe like decoration on his tail. The attack was as swift as it was bloody and it wasn't but a moment before the creature fell to one side, crumbling away as it went, leaving behind nothing but a mess of blood and a pair of orbs.
The big Diabi shook off before whirling around to face the other two, finding their full attention on him, and he gave a grin, "Stupid lizards." He said, looking quite pleased as this would give Nehelini the perfect opening to attack! Now, to see what Tallulah's little whelp was really capable of he thought to himself as he stalked toward the Firani, preparing to attack again himself.

Orpheus Solon 762 word count...where was this during the Mara Battle?!? Nehelini was about to retort when the elders words made perfect sense. He didn't have words to say in reply as the other male's sunk in. Considering everything that happened to lead up to this point. The attack which seperated him from the other family members. His utter lack of fighting skills. Honestly it was thanks to a game of hide and seek he remembered from playing with Rhys once. He had hidden behind something and after a small lean it fell away causing him to be spotted. As much as he loved his Uncles...they really failed to teach him how to survive without them. Nehelini knew that as a Dovaa he had a heritage of fighting. His parents were Fighters...all of his elders, heck even all his siblings were fighters from what his memories told him. That being the case...why couldn't he? Eyphah's next words actually served to boost the child's courage to the point he looked determined to take this overgrown lizards on! That was until he was dropped. Then he was reminded of one key thing. THESE THINGS WERE HUGE!!!!! The tail alone looked bigger than him, but the child steeled his nerves. Or at least he tried to. Repressing the urge to call out to the elder warrior, he tightened his grip on the Staff in his hands. Fear taking its own grip on him as he watched Eyphah tear into the unsuspecting dragon. As the other two stalked forward, Nehelini shifted his stance trying to work up the nerve to attack. Sadly, this wasn't a smart idea as the smaller of the two had the longest tail. Which Nehelini ended up hitting. Oh...that earned the child his first ever death glare. Which had him promptly frozen in total fear. The Firani turned its body slowly to the child, stalking forward as its partner went for Eyphah. Nehelini was standing there looking the dragon in its fiery eyes. There was a moment of pause, the creature seemed to consider the child. As if it knew this was a child's first hunt. Nehelini felt his lungs work again. When did he hold his breath? Then the dragon lunged, the child letting out a cry as he felt his body move back. He saw the red scaled neck as if motion was slowing down. Then his staff came down slamming into the dragon's throat. Letting out a roar of shock the dragon skittered sideways to stare at the child. Nehelini blinked a few times, “What? No one's ever taught me to fight!”The dragon stared at him for another heartbeat before it shot forward again. Nehelini barely moved out of the way before he snapped the staff in front of him and felt the full force of the dragon's jaws. Which was awkward for the dragon to say the least. It was expecting flesh not wood and its gotta say...that hurt its jaw a little. Nehelini on the other hand went from standing to dazed on the ground. Shaking his head to try and clear the fog. He struggled to sit up. The recoil alone stunning his small body into shakes. Nehelini shook as he looked up at the dragon which had recovered from its little shock. The child whimpered as it let out a hiss before going at him again.. The child rolled swinging the staff to stave off any attack. He heard the roar and saw a small broken claw. Well, it was more of a chip. He grabbed it and let out a near scream as the dragon was on him. The child held up the staff somehow getting it under the dragon's jaw and pushing the head up as his other hand clutched the chip. As the chip was still clasped and now against the staff, it easily sliced the dragons throat. Nehelini felt something warm go down his arm, he whimpered not looking up as the dragon continued to roll over him. He felt the tail slashed into his shoulder and he screamed. Panting he looked up as the dragon laid on its side. Staggering to his feet he did cry feeling a sense of gratitude for the fight, “Thank you. You taught me a good lesson...”With that the child turned to Eyphah victorious “Daddy!!! I did it!!” the words slipped from his mouth in his excitement of the victory. Feeling woozy he looked at his arm...oh...his shoulder was wide open. He fell out cold to the desert sands, blood clinging to his clothes, hair and oozing from his right shoulder.

Eyphah had gone from one dragon to the next, only giving Nehelini a glance, and upon seeing that he was fine saw to it that the second dragon that they were fighting against didn't have a chance to team up with its companion against the little whelp. The battle with the second Firani dragon ended in nearly the same manner as the first one had, that being in a rather brutal manner. The only difference being that Eyphah went about slicing off the dragon's tail with his scythe before killing it, thus assuring that he would have some delicious meat to take home. The second of the dragons was just crumbling away when he heard a screaming sound from off to the side where Nehelini was located. Whirling around he expected to see the worst... but instead he saw the Firani dragon go down on its side before crumbling away into nothingness. He blinked a couple times before a grin spread across his toothy maw, "Wonderful!" He chirped, quite pleased with the outcome. He knew that the little whelp could do it given the right sort of push.
His tail gave a swish, feeling a bit pleased with himself, that was until he noticed two things. First was the boy calling out to his 'Daddy' that he'd done it. Something that made him wonder if perhaps he'd gotten a blow to the head? He wasn't seeing things, was he? After that he caught the scent of the Dovaa's blood, a scent he knew well enough, meaning that he had gotten himself injured during the battle, "Eesh, best that I get him back to Tallulah for healing or the Merkora is going to skin me alive." He muttered to himself, shifting back to his Khehorian self. The various orbs were gathered up and tossed into the pack he wore at his side. From there he scooped up the dragon tail in one arm, Nehelini in the other, and he took to the air.
"You did good little whelp, but don't think this is the last hunt I will be taking you on. You need to toughen up if one little wound is going to know you out." Though he supposed it could also be the shock of what he'd gone through. Either way he needed to get stronger, to be able to stay up after being wounded, or else one day something was going to eat him up while he was unconscious. That day wasn't today though, not while Eyphah was looking out for him.

Nehelini's head lolled to the dark male's shoulder. His breathing stable. Later if he did remember what he said, the child would explain himself. At the moment however...he was a little out of it. Tallulah was not going to like this at all...
