Bio:
Most of Ran's life was actually NOT relatively normal, though, that does not mean she has not had her fair share of tragedy.
When Ran was around the age of six, her mother had gone missing. A couple of hours before her mom's disappearance, Ran was happily chatting with her along with her brother, Ren, on the way to school. Nothing was said in their conversation that would have led the poor primary student to believe that her mother would be leaving her very soon. In fact, Ran's mother had even promised to come after school to pick her and Ren up and so that they could all go out for ice cream. So long as Ran and Ren did not cause any mischief in her absence. What sucked most? She never kept that promise.
After waiting an hour and two for their mother to come for them, their father was called by the a few remaining teachers complaining that he needed to retrieve the two since no one had shown up. When Rin had arrived to pick up his children, Ran was the only one of the two who was reluctant to leave. She was waiting for her mother to come so that she would complete her end of the bargain in return for the promise of ice cream. She had been a good girl, and she would continue to be until that agreement had been fulfilled. A promise was a promise, right? Right?
Haha, looking back at that now, did she really keep it? No, she definitely did not. After her father remarried and it was confirmed that Ran's mother was missing, she probably did not even remember making such a commitment. See, what ended up happening was that Ran had begun to build up on bad habits, such as hanging around the wrong crowd and doing who knows what behind the back of her perfect family. Of course, that was eventually put to a stop about a year ago when the young lass was caught by a concerned Ren sneaking a revolver into her room. After a few weeks in a mental facility and a lot of therapy sessions, Ran began to slowly recover from years of self-pity.
At sixteen, Ran, along with her brother, was enrolled into the DWMA. She was originally aspiring to become a Meister until it was later discovered that she had the potential to become a Death Scythe. Guess what kind of weapon she turned out to be? A M1911 pistol. Oh, the irony.
Abilities:
+ Advanced Soul Perception: A rare trait in humans and/or potential Meisters that allows them to see the souls of living. Ran has a somewhat evolved version of this ability that allows her to more accurately sense souls and notice any and all changes in an individual's wavelength. Because of her heightened form of Soul Perception, she is even capable of bypassing a witch's Soul Protect. The downside to this though is that it means that her sensitivity to Madness has increased, making her more prone to falling into it.
- Unwinding Wave: Ran can temporarily improve her Meister's current state of mind by using her soul's wavelength to calm her partner's if they are erratic or stressed. Though the effect of this technique is somewhat similar to that of the Healing Wavelength, it's not the same. It cannot cure Madness, but merely helps soothe an anxious wavelength. It also temporarily increases her partner's aim and accuracy in combat. Ran will often use her Soul Perception to help her determine her Meister's current mentality.
+ Soul Bullets: By using the Soul Wavelength of both herself and her current Meister, Ran is capable of creating ammunition which, when fired, will visibly manifest as a spherical projectile. The amount of damage they deal is identical to that of a regular bullet, though Ran is capable of increasing their speed to make the penetration force of the shots stronger.
- Bullet Bombardment: A recently developed technique unique to Ran's Soul Bullets. This technique allows Ran to inflict damage to multiple opponents with a single shot, which is possible due to the fact that upon fire, Ran can divide the bullets into much smaller units. The only downside to this is that the shots are considerably weaker, so Ran would have to constantly fire bullets to make up for the lack of power, causing the accuracy of the shots to decrease as a result.
+ Soul Resonance - ???: Because Ran still lacks a partner and some experience, she is incapable of Soul Resonance.
(To be Updated?)
Personality: Ran, Ran, Ran... Where do I start? Well to begin, Ran doesn't like to talk, period. Conversations, debates, and arguments? Big no-nos. The only way to receive any sort of response from her is to either bribe her or just go up to her and ask her questions. She'll give short answers, sure, but hey, at least you know what she sounds like. Not that I'm implying that she sounds weird, but that you at least get to hear her voice before gives you the silent treatment. And tells you to shut up.
Another thing you should know about Ran is that she's also very tomboyish. She and her brother, Ren, had gotten along very well as kids due to their very similar preferences. Ran did not (or at least tried not to) like dolls and dresses, and Ren was a boy, so... Yeah. However, to be completely honest, Ran does have a fancy for girly stuff. She won't admit it though. Namely because she prides herself in being different from most girls... Yeah, it's not as much as she thinks.
Lastly, to finish things off, Ran isn't exactly the most emotionally stable girl out there. She's had a bit of a rough past that she doesn't like admitting, due to her dislike of pity stories. It was kind of the catalyst for much of her antisocial behavior. Be careful of some of the things you say around her, but just know also not to treat her like some fragile porcelain doll. She can still take care of herself too.
