Legend speaks of a young thief who once cheated Giratina out of taking his soul to the underworld upon death. This young man bet Giratina that he wasn't brave enough to walk the mortal world without his precious Grisious Orb. The god-like legend was insulted by this insinuation and immediately dropped his gem, taking on a more ground form in order to prove to the insolent mortal that he needed no stone to roam an inferior world.

Jack however was sly and quickly switched the orbs with a fake. Giratina picked his orb back up as his mortal form began to weaken and he needed to return home. However the orb did not transform him into his superior form needed to pierce the dimensions and if he remained here for too long he would cease to exist. Jack hid from Giratina just long enough for the legend to lose most of its strength.

With Giratina weakened Jack made a deal the reaper of souls. In return for its orb, Giratina had to agree to not come for his soul. Giratina agreed and Jack gave back the orb. Before Giratina parted he warned Jack of the grave mistake he made. With a departing laugh Giratina tossed him a burning lump of coal, a NeverFadeFlame. The legend mocking him with a fragment of the underworld that he will never experience, and a symbol of the light he will never embrace above.

Jack eventually died but thanks to his thieving ways and his deal with Giratina his soul had no where to go. And so Jack now roams the world in search for a place for his soul to rest, having placed his eternally burning coal in a lantern to use as his only source of light in an existence lacking it. Some say Jack will enjoys causing mischief, a way of giving himself entertainment in an eternity of loneliness. No where to call home.

---------------

Solaceon Town

It was Solaceon Town's annual Harvest Festival. Farmers from all across the town (and just outside of it) came together in the town square to sell and giveaway the crops they spent so long caring for. The wives of the farmers would also bring various bake goods to also sell. Games were also to be played, singing to be done, and dancing to be had. It was a wonderful time for Solaceon, and for tourists through out Sinnoh who enjoyed to partake.

A tradition during the Harvest Festival was called 'Passing the Lantern'. The tradition goes that through out the day a lantern would be passed around from person to person. No one wanted to hold the lantern for whoever still had it at midnight had to take it back into the Lost Tower, where it was found, and set it to rest until the next festival. People would say that it was during this time of year that the spirits of the tower are most restless and long for the return of their lantern. And you couldn't just force someone to take the lantern, they had to willingly so there was a lot of trickery and deceit to be had. Just another fun thing they did.

Today, Sub had brought his Snagems here to the festival, but not to play. He was concerned about a chi signature detected here. It was too powerful to be just from a bunch of Pokemon gathered together, like all the Miltank and Mareep here today.

Dista would quietly float into town atop her Metagross she still had from Reno, staring down at the town in an effort to assist the efforts to find this strange chi source. Pulling up the SNAG and texting Sub, she would ask, "So what exactly is it I'm looking for? I know that a birds-eye view helps, but not knowing what I'm supposed to locate erases that little advantage." She protested, still looking at the ground. Wow, was this town bright from up here. Why did it have to be so bright?

For what it was worth, Sol could easily see why Sub would want to bring the team here and why he was so quick to mention it was for business rather than pleasure. He hadn't said anything yet, but he could tell something was indeed up with the chi in the air.

Cera could easily notice it as well, though part of her wish she hadn't. It didn't feel much like what would come from a Mareep or a Miltank, let alone several of them or the trace amounts from other nearby Pokemon. Amaranth, on the other hand, was more curious at the festival itself despite the reason everyone was here. She was the only one to walk around a little as she waited, figuring she could at least get a view of what was going on nearby before getting down to work.

At least, it was better than Aden feeling more than a little apprehensive about being around here. He had heard of the festival before, but only in passing and with a prompt decision to stay out of it not because of the folklore surrounding it, but because of his uncanny ability to track something or someone in. He had a feeling he'd be the one to find a few spirits that'd haunt him for a second and then see if he'd mind staying around for a cup of tea.

Even now, he didn't seem to be too thrilled about being here, even if the chance of him being involved in much more than figuring out what was causing the chi spike was unlikely. He had long since stopped banking on things remaining unlikely.

"It's celestial in nature." Sub blurted out to his comrades, not really hearing their own question but in a way still answering them. "Thought it might just be the Unown in the ruins being really active but no, the signatures didn't match up. While it's celestial it's not from a Psychic type source. Really I can't pin it on one type but it almost feels otherworldly, don't you think? It reeks of...death. Even I can feel it, it sends a chill down your spine when you just stop and take it in. I'm amazed the town's people don't feel it or maybe they are used to it. Who knows." He said with a shrug.

"Whatever it is, it's not friendly That much is certain. Not sure why I say that but I just know it to be true. Never would I have said chi could feel...wrong. Not evil though, no, but not good either. Just wrong. We'll branch off into two groups. One will roam the fairgrounds while the other goes off to explore the Lost Tower, maybe it's just a bunch of restless Gastly and Murkrow acting up. Would explain the chi being all off. At thirty minutes til midnight we will rendezvous at the town square, around the festival bonfire. We'll discuss our findings then. Understood?" He asked his teammates.

With the rest off to the Kalos region for the time being, Freth decided to run off with the rest of this bunch to this festival. She never really heard of it, but decided to go anyways. Probably could be fun. She had nothing better to do really. That said, a mission was to be done first. A chi signature? Was that all Sub had to go on? As much as she could argue Sub getting as paranoid as a few others she knew, she couldn't really argue it. She could feel it from getting to Solaceon town. Kind of a weird signature for that matter.

Raine and Crystal would arrive on the back of Demon Wing, the young human looking around. "So... Why am I here again," she questioned, rubbing her arms.

Crystal would hop off of Demon Wing and look at her. "Because that metal loving psychopath asked me to watch over you before she took off somewhere. And you do look a bit lost." She'd recall her Charizard once the girl jumped off and listened to Sub. "So, the festival or a haunted tower. Either one sounds interesting," she said with a wry grin.

Raine would shake her head. "Why would people like haunted stuff," she muttered under her breath, shaking her head.

Dan flew into town on his Braviary, not trusting a teleport around spiking chi. Crazier things have happened and getting scrambled up or turned inside out did not entertain him in the slightest. Apparently there was some sort of festival going on with lanterns and a tower. He was more interested in the fairground food but it seemed they would have to work first. Landing, he returned his pokemon and joined up with the group to be debriefed. Sub wanted them to split up into two teams, one for the tower and one for the town. "I'll help investigate the fairgrounds thoroughly" he grinned, giving the boss the thumbs up. Who said he couldn't multitask?

Dista would message the others from her high-up perch, "Well then, i'm off to the Tower. I figure a Steel/Psychic type plus my other guys should be good for a little house cleaning." Giving a soft kick with her heel to get Phemes moving towards the Lost Tower, the mute began to look behind her and wait to see anyone else following. She wasn't going to be the only one doing this stuff, no sirree.

Requiem of Whyspers

Fashionable Shapeshifter

PostPosted: Thu Oct 23, 2014 5:40 pm

Odd slowly entered Solaceon Town, his senses on high alert. The smell of decay and the feel of death itself lingered in the air in an ethereal fashion. Not something one could pick up if they weren't looking for it. Perhaps he could pick up these intangible sensation because of his own association with he underworld? Or because his Pokemon of choice were a part of that world? Regardless of the reason, he walked with trepidation through the streets of Solaceon, keeping his eyes out for anything out of the ordinary. Not counting the endless crowd of spirits he could see intermingled with the townspeople. The veil between worlds was at it's thinnest this time of year, after all.

Trishella, on the other hand, arrived just in time to hear Sub's plan to split up. "Awww! But I just got here!" She whined quietly, not wanting to leave the fairgrounds just yet.

"Then stay in town." Odd said, arriving as the party was splitting up. "I'm going to the Lost Tower. Something doesn't feel right to me and it feels like it's coming from there." He said as he looked to see the Snagems partying up. "Looks like I'll have some company, then." Deducing the current plan of action wasn't difficult. He had grown to know Sub well enough by now that when something was off splitting up was inevitable.

"Very well then, I'm off to see what there is in the festival. Renny, make sure the others don't get their souls taken. Toodles!" Sub cheered as he almost skipped off into the crowd, expecting others to follow him. "Dan, you got that Pikachu on you?" He asked the man as they began to walk. "If so I want you to give it your SNAG and send it off into the fairgrounds. We'll use it as a walking chi detector that way. Plus it's small enough to slip around undetected and not be bothered. As for you, Trish, if you got your Rotom send it with Pikachu. Just in case."

Reno would quietly pick himself up off the Metagross, shaking slightly as he began to observe the area. He hated that Sub knew he was hiding up on that Metagross, but he wasn't going to let temporary death stop him again. Hopefully the others would soon be on their way to find the....oh wait, there was the tower. landing softly in front of it, Reno and Dista would set to getting prepared for whatever might come next.

"I can go in the fairgrounds," Amaranth finally spoke up, "Maybe there's something here."

"I'll... stick with her, unless we're hardpressed for the tower."

"Oh, no. No thanks. You can go to the tower, I'll stay here. I'd rather deal with being handed a torch than go there," Aden said at once.

"Oh please, last time you were in some ruins, the worst you had was an out of body experience."

"Enough," Sol spoke up, preferring not to see a quarrel. He started for the tower as he resumed speaking. "Cera, if Dan has his Pikachu, come to the tower. Otherwise, you can stay here as we'll still benefit from someone who can easily communicate and detect chi. Aden, regardless of where she goes, I'd rather you be at the tower. I could make a remark that you'd make the perfect decoy if things were to go in shapes that make pears look nice, but really, you're fairly receptive with chi yourself and know how to bounce back. The tower would be more suitable by comparison on that alone, but the choice remains your own."

It took a few moments before Aden figured that maybe conversing with a spirit might not be so bad, especially seeing as there was a chance that he'd have no choice but to go there. Better to cut to the chase than wander straight into the weirdness... oh, what was he kidding, it'd find him anyway. He'd soon go on towards the tower himself while Amaranth wandered into the fairgrounds, Cera remaining where she was to see if Dan did indeed have his Pikachu or not.

Darts looms from the crowd suddenly, a sullen expression souring the Giratina's face. Not that it was easy to tell, what with the crest in the way and all. "I don't like this, Sub." The gambler mumbles, looking back and forth through the body of people in front of them as they passed through it. His hand twitched semi-nervously as though he expected them to get attacked at any moment. "There's something not right with this whole situation." Not one to be taken for a fraidy-Meowth, Darts was right spooked about something his body could sense, the bottom of his jacket twitching tensely as they headed into the fairgrounds. "Something in the air maybe..." he mutters half to himself derisively.

Dan was just about to head off in search of a food kiosk when Sub asked him to use his Pikachu. At that, he was suddenly reminded this was where he first met Electra. He was sure she'd love to run around her old hometown for once. "Yeah, just give me a sec." Summoning the electric mouse, he fished out his SNAG and some rope while she looked around in shock. It was a struggle just to get her to sit still while he strapped the device on; Electra taking off the moment she was free. Dan couldn't help but feel he sent Cera off to face a nightmare buuuut... "Alright! Resuming the investigation!" he fist-pumped and took off for a kiosk.

"I think I'll join the festivities, too," Crystal said with a huge grin, walking into town. Raine would stare at at the hybrid, then shake her head.

"I don't even..." She looked back at the tower, then quickly turned her head forward again. "Uh, hey, wait up lady!" Raine would run after Crystal, disliking the idea of being alone or in a haunted tower.
