The Moon Division's semi-annual meeting took place in the main warehouse this time, the air thick with the smell of sawdust and metal. A makeshift conference table involving plywood and sawhorses was set up in the center of a large, recently cleared area. Places to sit involved the options of more saw horses, stacks of wooden pallets, metal folding chairs, and for the lucky few: cheap, spinny office chairs with wheels.

There were dark, spangly sheets and other decorations hung all around the area, making it feel much more closed in than it had any right to be. Off in one corner, division assistant Zoe adjusted a runic sound system grimly lecturing one poor hunter on setting the mood with an intensity that suggested this meeting might involve joining a cult.

To the side was another makeshift table with bottled water, Gatorade, and food. So much food. There had been a quiet decision amongst many of the Moons that bringing food to meetings and assemblies themselves, they could just outnumber the food Edith brought and maybe not have to eat EZ-Cheesy Kiwidog Shrimp Cocktails ever again. It was proving a mixed success this time, because Edith had a eagle-eyes awareness of people nearing her food. The pressure of her gaze still caused many a hunter to pick up at least one siracha filled olive dipped in chocolate and covered in cornflakes or one of the many other unusual offerings. But they at least had other food on hand to quickly erase the memory of eating it.

After most of the on-island Moon Division settled in, Edith cleared her throat and wrapped on the table. "Y'all better have your things in order. We aren't here for gossips or dilly-dallying. Now start telling me what you're doing, what you want to do, and what you need in an orderly fashion."

The OOC

Every Moon Hunter and trainee on the island is assumed to be in this meeting. If you aren't able to post right away, you don't have to rp them as late unless that's IC for them.

These meetings are an opportunity for your hunters to ICly propose new projects that they'd either like to run themselves or join, and get the resources (funds/equipment/space/minions) needed for said projects. The amount of responsibility and resources they get depends heavily on rank, with new trainees getting very little for themselves.

If your hunter is making a proposal, be sure to post quote me!

This RP does not have a definite ending so don't panic about writing a proposal asap!

This RP is worth:
+ 1 rp point for going over 800 words
+ 1 rp point for making a proposal

Arriving early had several advantages: it made one look dutiful; it presented him with full tables of food that diluted his statistical chances of ingesting, through mistake or coercion, an Edith Special; it prevented having to scuttle in under a sudden ocean of eyes; and it allowed him to quietly drop a folder off on Edith's table with a look that silently begged her: please let this be enough.

And in it: a second draft of his previous ideas, brought further in line with what she thought was feasible and fell under the division's role, and a concise, bulleted checklist for new wake-ups, presented both as a clipboard-ready run-down and in a pamphlet-form digest that, a footnote acknowledged, was Camille Ryland's contribution. A brief aside about clearing a space for possible small-group orientations, with a suggested semi-script, semi-outline revisiting the basics touched on in the other materials and expanded into a tidy prospective itinerary: fifteen minutes for a run-down on shield basics from a Life or Moon hunter; fifteen minutes for an overview on most common and most recent battlefield threats from a Sun hunter; a couple of other notes. The result was far from impersonal and traumatic: it packed into roughly an hour everything he'd been desperate to convey from the beginning, and then left a half hour at the end for updates on recent Island goings-on and what he had marked Q+A despite his instinctive hatred for the term.

Everything stressed, carefully, that this was safety education. Suspect passages were carefully phrased, meticulously kneaded into a shape more in keeping with Moon's defensive niche. Suggested segments of the orientations that were relevant to Moon division (shields, teamwork, a highlight of the physical layout of the Island marking safe areas and those requiring rebuilding) were given special attention.

A note at the close suggested that if anything looked promising he would be glad to scrounge up divisional prospects for the presentations, hunters of both substance and willingness (he'd had names, originally, now excised due to an excess of caution), and that, further, if she had suggestions for likely candidates he'd be glad to hear them.

Taym would find himself passed a note from Edith, containing his budget (decent enough for what would basically be a good printer and office supplies) and other resources (one dedicated minion with the option of borrowing several others for singular shifts) along with the beginning of actual expectations (a date for his first Safety Education seminar).

Dakota sat down, but didn't look quite as peachy. He wasn't sure if he really wanted to be here but as it was mandatory....

Edith pointed to her eyes and then to Dakota. She was watching you, punk.

Zascha had made his way over to the table of food right out the gate. Though some of it looked...questionable. He wasn't too sure if he wanted a stomach ache or not even if he was kind of hungry. This meeting was cutting in on some very valuable snacking time.

Very valuable.

Not like he had much to say currently. He was still kind of getting his bearings. Perhaps he should start focusing more. Well, this would give him the opportunity to see how it was done at least.

Out of all places to have a meeting, Jason wouldn't have picked here for one having thought they would pick one of the many rooms within the Deus Ex. He let it slide though and glanced over at the variety of edible (and non edible) food that was located on the tables. Edith was watching everyone, including himself, and feeling her eyes on his back Jason quickly caved and ate one of the olives. Que sounds of choking and a hurried grab for the bottled water.

After downing half the bottle and finding a seat, the moon still felt edgy with their leader asking them all to explain what they were up to. So far no one had said anything, but one moon had given her a folder. Jason gulped, wondering if this was something he should have done. It wasn't like he had any ideas as to what he needed.

"A-ahh.. I've talked to Sunny about w-working towards a more m-medical approach." He didn't want to say 'doctor' or 'surgeon' because A. he was neither one of those things, B. it would take him a few eons to get anywhere near close to that expertise, and c he thought if he said doctor then he might summon the actual one. "S-so far I've been working early and late shifts in the infirmary, cataloging the equipment and such, and studying whatever medical books I can find...I d-did once assist a senor moon tech in stitching up someone."

Dylon had several ideas of what he wanted to pursue as a Moon Hunters. However....

He lovingly ate a handful of Edith's strange sweets that seemed to be siracha filled olives dipped in chocolate and covered in cornflakes. He'd assumed they were chocolate almonds until the first bite. Not to seem rude, he kept chewing. Then the spice hit. His chewing stopped, his face reddened. He swallowed it painfully and took a seat.

He nursed a tummy ache as he rested his head against the make-shift table. Maybe he'd speak up a little bit later when he didn't feel like his stomach was about to explode.

Wheelie chair! Matt quickly dodged for the nearest one and proceeded to spin around before rolling it across the floor a few times. Wheelie chairs were the best, he thought before dragging his feet across the floor and letting the chair roll to a slow stop near the food. Glancing over it he wrinkled his nose just a little noting the stare down from Zoe encouraging anyone near I to pick something. Picking something up that resembled olives with some sort of sauce he quickly crammed it into his mouth and snagged a Gatorade to drink as he pushed the chair away from what could possibly be anything but real food anymore.

As for the topic of the meeting he hadn’t done much of anything, there was working, and working, and then doing something in the infirmary with care, tho mostly being stuck with files here and there. No one was going to trust a trainee to do anything serious yet so well reporting in was sort of lame for him but it was mandatory.

After so many meetings, so many encounters of the moon kind, you just sort of got used to and accepted the fact that part of your role was to eat whatever the hell it was that Edith put in front of you. She never made you eat anything, but the pressure was there. Plus it was a twisted show of solidarity. He'd suffer with everyone else.

Which is just how Marcus ended up with a small handful of Edith's creations. The trick was to pretend to chew or chew as few times as needed before swallowing. Keep it far from your tongue as possible. And water. God bless water.

If anything it was a few less olives for everyone else.

After his quick culinary dive into what was just 'moon division', Marcus pulled out two folders one very clearly labeled 'Project Aquarium'.

"First off, I'd like to personally apologize for wasted resources used for the aquarium project-experiment. Whatever blast to out the normal windows, also took them out." He flipped open the file before handing it off to Edith. It listed the options they had, as well as their cost and now- estimated 'life expectancy'. "Depending, we might be able to get the same material they use in spacecraft, or portals installed in place of the windows. I'm waiting to hear back from a life tech on the possibilities of both those. Because of that I don't have any clear projections of cost or time, so for now, I'd like the project to be put on hold rather than scrapped until we have the data to make a decision on where to go."

The second file handed off.
"The moon van is currently as you know in full operations; nothing has changed and if anything all it needs is just the regular checks and tanks filled. I have it currently stationed outside of Guadalajara, Mexico. It does beg the notion that it might be useful for us to invest in an purpose vehicle for off road missions or remote locations. However that would be a more general moon division vehicle, rather than the van's purpose which is primarily for training and urban locations." He paused.
"The ice cream with week is durian with cilantro. Next week it's curry with wine sauce."

The legacy of Julie would live on.

Ian's first division meeting in his new division made him very pleased. He ambled into the room, looking very cheerful, in spite of recent events, and took a seat. Most of those already in the room were unfamiliar to him, but he leaned back, crossing one leg over the other, and stuck his hands in the pockets of his dark jeans.

Marcus was given a cheeky sort of smile, Ian winking at him.

Dakota sigheeeeeeeeeeeeed long time at Edith's watching you motions. He supposed he better just get it over with.

"Last meeting, you gave me resources to start training search and rescue teams." Dakota got up, two separate folders in his hands. "I've successfully trained four different sets of teams as well as over ten hunters from other divisions." he dropped one folder on her table with the hunters. "Marcus has been trained as well. We've got a fair amount of hunters for search and rescue team as well as some more trained on moon basics."

Then he fidgetted with the second laying it down.

"This is my request to transfer to the mist division...." He said MUCH quieter.

Aaaaaawwwwwww yisss! Moon Meeting!
Unusually excited for the meeting, given her very recent upgrade in status from Trainee, Abbi hustled her way to the warehouse without even bothering to question why they were meeting there instead of the last place they'd all sat together. It didn't matter, she figured, as long as they were all together! And talking! And planning! She had definitely brought a journal along to write down important meeting things on she was super excited ok.
Even if she was red from a full day in the sun and peeling in places that she had tried to cover up with long sleeves, Abbi was still super pumped for her division.
First thing first, the teen bunny hopped over to the refreshments table to pursue the choices. The olives seemed popular, but she had her eye on something more... Specific.
"Hey, if you see any cheez-wiz covered cabobs, grab one. I promise, they're weird but like... Totally amazing." Abbi chirped in all chipper seriousness to the other person looking over the snack table beside her. She grabbed what she assumed to be some sort of cake that probably wouldn't be before she gave him a smile and hopped off to find a seat.

With a bit of a clatter because she wasn't quite sure how to sit on the sawhorse without falling backwards, Abbi chose the seat next to Dylon just because he looked particularly miserable. Poor thing, maybe a cake that was actually a weird sandwich covered in icing would make him feel better?
But wait!
"Oh u-um! I don't... Really have a... A specific ... Thing..." Since they were offering proposals, Abbi hastily stuffed the rest of whatever it was she'd grabbed into her mouth and fished out her journal.

"I've been spending a lot of time in the Infirmary too! Voluntarily, I mean like yeah sometimes I go there for... For its intended purpose but mostly helping!" Both hands opened up her notebook to a page littered and doodled on with an overabundance of notes regarding a variety of medical practices.
"I think something medically... Um... Involved? Would be good! I think some really nice field training would be even better!" There was no long term interest in working in the Infirmary because Abbi had bigger goals: She wanted to be a Battle Nurse.

Dylon's head turned slightly from it's resting place to offer Abbi as charming a smile as he could must. It was shaky at best. "Heeeeey pretty lady~....urp..." He sunk further down again.

After some time, there was a wave of reprieve from stomach pains. He chose to take advantage of this by finally getting himself composed enough to offer his two cents.

"I noticed.. ugh... the trainee pool is in.. less than ideal conditions." Swimming was his passion, and his preferred body training of choice. "Swimming is an ideal way of working out every muscle in the body.. I'd like permission to take on a restoration of... urp... the pool for trainees..."

Goddamn those funky olives. God damn them to Hell.

Riley shifted in her chair. Honestly, she had no reason to be here, there were no proposals she could think of that she wanted to... well, propose. But still, here she was. Sitting in a chair that had two empty chairs beside. She hadn't really made very many friends, acquaintances, or even enemies, so honestly, she didn't expect anyone to sit by her and make idle small talk. She sighed, and put her elbows on the table, and sat her head on her hands.
