"That's the thing about pain. It demands to be felt."
PostPosted: Mon Jul 21, 2014 7:52 pm

User ImageName: Hazel Snow
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Height: 5’ 5”
Eye color: Teal
Body Build:
• She is underweight, only 105 pounds, due to the fact that she only has one meal a day and that is when she is with the kind doctor. Because of this, she does not have much muscle mass, it is difficult for her to lift heavy loads. -- This fact irks her because she wants to be able to assist patients, but is unable to perform certain transfers.

Personality:
As the illegitimate child of a noble and a merchant, Hazel Snow is often seen as a person who should be held in distaste. Because of the events that led to her birth, Hazel’s mother is cold and lacks love toward her daughter. The young quiet woman does not blame her mother for the lack of love, for how could you love the child of a beast of a man? But due to this lack of love from her mother, Hazel is incredibly lonely, she does not have anyone to confess her feelings to or anyplace where she would feel accepted.

She is very quiet, tending not to speak much, and would rather listen to the conversations than to participate in them. This helps when she aids the doctors with his patients, she sits with the injured and patiently listens to the stories they wish to tell. During her apprenticeship with the doctor, she has learned about the human body and how to treat what ails the patient. In the beginning she would sway and become woozy at the sight of blood, but with time she got used to the sight and the metallic putrid scent.

The young woman works with the doctor so she could alleviate some of the financial burden her family carries, she does this out of guilt for if she had not been born, her mother could have married any rich suitor she wished, instead of the drunkard she now has a family with. Hazel knows that it is silly to blame herself for her existence and the trouble it has caused her family, but she cannot help but feel those illogical emotions. Because of this guilt she is seen as meek to those who encounter her, only when she is with a patient does she exude courage and skill.

Practical to an extent although she does speculate “what ifs” until it becomes too depressing to even think about what could have happened if the circumstances of the past were different. She likes the use of logic, even though at times her emotions battle with rationality.

Hazel Snow appears to be two different people: The meek b*****d child who is despised by her family and the quick, brilliant doctor’s assistant who is confident with her skills in the art of medicine. Both personalities are facets of her true self, but she is lacking confidence outside of the medical office, due to this she is unable to speak her mind and continues to suffer for this inability.

She does not consider herself weak willed, but when it comes to bread, she transforms. Her favorite type of bread is one that is filled with a sweet red bean paste, just thinking about it causes her mouth to water and it is a special treat that she only gets once a month.

Hobbies:
• She loves to write, she has countless journals that are filled with her thoughts and her doings of her day.
• When she has time, she loves to read. She sees books as an escape from this reality.
• Gardening, especially tending to roses and her herbs.

History:
One night 18 years ago, a noble who had too much to drink, was filled with the confidence that he had lacked in the past. He went to the House of Snow within the city of Trost and claimed the daughter of the wealthy merchant as his own. A few days later when he had enough of the Snow wench he sent her back to her father, with one copper mark as if she was the neighborhood whore and was worth no more than two large loaves of bread. Disgraced and pregnant, Victoria Snow built up her resentment for the man who did this to her and for the baby that was growing within her womb. Nine months later Victoria was tempted to drown the baby or leave it in the streets, but her father would not have any of it, he even named the child after his own mother.

Because of her Grandfather, Hazel was raised for the first four years of her life with love and happiness, but when a sickness took Master Snow from the world, Hazel no longer had his loving presence to keep her safe from the bitter hatred of her mother. By this time, Victoria had married the town drunk, Michael Whydah. He would spend all the money Victoria earned as a seamstress on ail and would come home smelling rank and in a drunken rage.

It was during these times that Hazel wished that she could leave and no longer have to worry about the wickedness of her family, but she knew that the world outside her family was much scarier. So she remained and her loneness grew. When she turned thirteen, she found a hurt cat on the street. Secretly she began to care for the injured creature, when it was not getting better she fretted and went in search of a doctor. This lead her to the kind doctor Markus Raknam; when he saw how much care she gave her furry patient, he asked her if she would like to help with his human patients. It was then that she became his apprentice and how she acquired her furry best friend, Smokey, who was named thus because of his grey like coloration.

Home life became bearable for Hazel now that she spent most of her day at Dr. Raknam’s and in the company of Smokey. Years passed and her skill in the art of medicine grew and she was even considering going on to become a doctor, but she lacked the money to achieve that goal. The night she turned 17, Smokey decided to follow her home. It was also one of the nights when Michael was at his worse. In his drunken rage he killed Smokey.

Completely lost in the hopeless that was her life, Hazel shut down, she did not eat, sleep or talk to anyone. Horrible memories would flash through her head, filled with blood and death. The image of Smokey’s fur clotted in blood filled the young woman with despair and anger. While in her depressed stupor, her step-father had signed her up for the military, telling her it was time that she actually did something useful for the family. She did not understand if what he did was legal, but she could no longer live in the house with that monster. One week later she left the house she grew up in, never once looking back.
