Into the cafe strolled the double-clothed elf. There was something about too much fabric on that made her uneasy, so a trip to familiar grounds where she didn't have to worry about people judging her was a way of relaxing. The temptation to let down her hair was strong, but it too too long to put it up in the elaborate style that it was in now that it wouldn't be worth it until tanabata was over.

Everything was... weird... lately. Nothing seemed familiar though nothing had apparently changed? Ama did but didn't. The cafe did but didn't. All of Durem did, but didn't. Or maybe her mind was just more messed up than before and she was on the verge of a breakdown.

A very bloody breakdown.

Mira-sa~ A seven shot mocha with whip, please? Perhaps the coffee would help calm her down.

Mirabilis was surprised but pleased to see Hyde. "Coming right up, Miss Hyde!" She was however less cheerful to point out what else the elf was likely seeking in such a place. "Miss Amarante is, well..." The manager gestured to what would be a familiar sight to the overdressed elf. Amarante was sleeping at the bar as she usually was, for the time being anyway, instead of attempting or pretending to be helpful around the cafe as she had oddly been doing as of late. She seemed to be having parfait-induced dreams, smiling despite her unconsciousness and probably mumbling a little as well. Luckily, for once she wasn't drooling in addition to that. She seemed quite uninterested in abandoning whatever fantasy dream she was involved in so it was probably up to Hyde to part her from her reveries in order to be able to interact with her at all. Selfish demon was selfish.

A musical hum emanated from the elf when she saw her friend's sleeping self down the bar. The drink would be there when it was done, but Amarante would be needed conscious for anything productive to be had.

The short stroll down past the few stools that lie between the two women would not have been noteworthy had Hyde been able to not trip on the extra cloth of her kimono. But she did, and she crashed over one of the stools (condolences were sent to the grove where the wood came from) and managed to jostle the seat the sleeping demon was in.

Rassafrakin' clothing! How do people stand wearing so much?! The elf was trying to pull herself upright without destroying anything else when she resisted the urge to kick the chair Amarante was on. Ama-cha~ It's time to wake up~ Her words carried no threat, but her hand was getting dangerously close to what was left of the parfait.

Noise, what noise? It was of little concern when a parfait was threatened. There seemed to be a red glow in that falsely grey eye as she reached out to protect the glass from whatever was threatening it. "Parfait... mine." Only when her confectionery delight was safe did Amarante awaken. "Oh, Hydecchi. What brings you here?" She continued to delicately consume the parfait without much thought to what had just happened. She did notice, however, certain furniture threatenings that only a creature of considerable weight could accomplish. "Furniture isn't cheap, you know, and neither are you the lightest thing, so..." Would she get mad at that offhanded comment? "You should be more careful, I mean." How could Hyde get mad? She was smiling so nicely after seeming concerned after all!

The elf raised an eyebrow at the comment about her weight, but that wasn't anything to feel offended by. With a different body structure than most other beings alive today she felt everyone else was way too light. But they would all just take that as a compliment, so.

At this time Hyde's drink was delivered with a lovely swirl of whipped cream on the top and sprinkled with cocoa powder. Delicately picking up the cup Hyde gently sat down in one of the remaining seats so her weight could distribute more and she kept a foot on the floor to relieve pressure on the wood. Ama-cha~ What is Erhard?

Her blunt question was accented with a sip of her mocha which left a thin, chocolate-speckled mustache on her upper lip.

In her rare moments of clarity Hyde could be quite sharp indeed. Amarante's falsely grey eye was wide, almost as if she were a child with a secret pet being found out by her parent. She looked to the side to try to play off the question as nothing special. "Why would you ask such a thing Hydecchi?"

If Hyde noticed Amarante's reaction to the question her face gave no indication of it. After another sip of her drink she licked the cream off her lip before speaking. Someone has Ama-cha's affection. Is that not reason enough to be curious? She looked over sideways at her one-eyed friend. Besides, you know how I hate beating around the bush. Eventually I will know what I want to know, so it will save so much time and aggravation to just answer: What is Erhard Muller?

Unfortunately for Hyde, Amarante was a stubborn creature even when the terms were so succinctly spelled out for her. "Why is it so important to you? Eru is nothing like him. That is all that should matter to you." Her defensive expression eventually softened. "It is still scary though, Hydecchi. Really scary." Having to express her feelings even to almost strangers and in public places was starting to wear at Amarante but Hyde wasn't a stranger and neither was the cafe an unsafe place for her. "I love him." The anxiety made her bite her lip. She still wasn't used to it. But, it was the truth of the matter. "You had probably come to that conclusion on your own, surely, being that I was willing to turn on even the likes of you in order to protect him." That reality hadn't come to be, but still. The look in her eye became sharp. Hyde could ask all the questions she liked, but it was a subject Amarante was quite serious about. Verbal pushes and coercion would only go so far.

Hyde scratched her head in confused contemplation. Yes, Ama-cha, I already figured that part out. Even with as cold and distant as you may seem, you are... one of the worst tsunderes I have ever seen. She attached no condescending tone to the remark, it was just an observation. She took a smooth draw on her mocha before continuing. I mean what is he? I know he isn't human, but he's not any otherworldly being, I don't get the undead vibe from him, he's not an amalgam - as far as I can tell - and he's certainly no leech. I think I'd give up Aion if he were a leech... Hyde really disliked vampires with very few exceptions. I could just ask him directly, but that might be viewed as confronting him in a hostile way and you'd take away my sprite. So I ask you.

"T-tsundere?" What seriousness that had been present was quickly escaping from the scene. With a sigh Amarante followed suit. "Actually, I'm fine not knowing the specifics. Is that wrong?" She couldn't help but grin. "I trust him. He can explain his situation to me fully whenever he's comfortable, if he wants to at all." She was indeed a loving little creature. And, they could play the elimination game at least. "Not a zombie. Not a vampire. Come now. I am ridiculous, but not that ridiculous." Someone had a shared dislike of vampires. "Oh, but he does do part time exorcism work!" That statement was entirely too cheerful. She pouted a little, turning her head to the side. "Laugh if you like. Demon falls in love with exorcist. It is indeed hilarious. And you still haven't explained yourself! Why do you need to know so badly in the first place?"

Hyde laughed at her friend's mixed frustrations. She had known that the odd man was her new weak point for some time, but now she had decided to test the waters. No, it isn't wrong, Ama-cha, but it is certainly handy for your survival to know everything you can. There is ridiculous, but there are so many things out there that you never know just when they'll turn on you, snap and go crazy, decide you are food, sacrifice you to some forgotten god, or just break your heart the next opportunity they get. No, Hyde had not had a serous relationship in recent history.

But I wanted to know just who it is who stole my friend's heart. Is it wrong to show concern for someone who has been... hurt before? There were several types of hurt implied there, mutually exchanged, and ongoing because of 'he-who-shall-not-be-named'. It was better for everyone that way.

Hyde was getting her not-really-a-mom mode on. Or something like that. Amarante appreciated the concern but couldn't help but shrug it off a little. "What's he going to do, kill me?" It was a joke that brought on thoughts. "Well, he tried to at first. It was so cute~ Crosses and everything. I couldn't help but tease him." Her eye was bright as she thought over the memory with strange fondness. "I'm... not too worried. There is always some worry involved with such matters, because of the past and how I am and..." She was rambling. And finally noticed so, cutting off with a hopeful smile. "It hasn't been easy, and maybe it will only be increasingly more difficult as time passes. But it is... the happiness is worth it, I think."

It was certainly embarrassing hearing that cloying description of the situation. Amarante found herself red in the face yet again, turning her head away and pointlessly trying to deflect the attention. "It isn't--!" Was there really a reason to be tsundere after completely and totally confessing, repeatedly even? After hanging her head with a bit of a sigh, she seemed to be over it for the time being. "Well~ All the better to assure you that they're nothing alike, right?" The smile that went with that statement was quite sunny. She struggled to maintain it with what followed, however. "I won't..." Oddly, a look of determination was quick to replace it. "I won't be put into that situation again!" Amarante wasn't a person of great romantic confidence, but the emotional wounds that still felt quite fresh to her were more than enough to bolster that will to fight for what she wanted. "I won't suffer in silence. Ever. Again."

A questioning, threaded eyebrow quirked up at the mention of an attempt to kill her friend, but obviously the attempt didn't succeed and instead seemed to have had the opposite effect. "Obviously so. I thought some attempts to kill me were cute, but that only made them more flustered and tried in vain to continue to do so. Those were simpler times when I could just kill them for being a nuisance. Now... That's not okay outside of the underworld." Still, she was glad that her friend was doing well and was actually happy. It would be very unhealthy for someone if that happy became sadness...

As Amarante went on - particularly about him Hyde was unblinking and level-eyed with the shorter demon. She was much older than the tsundere, but had not had such a problem with romance as the demon did. Not that she had had much 'romance' to speak of. Mostly just flings and passionate nights of heated lust. But commitment was very far from her mind, so to see the change in her friend was something to be prodded at and tested. "Good answer. If I found out something similar happened again - without that pesky link - there would be one less being in existence. I have always wondered if I put enough effort into it that I could start erasing the person from history..." The cold gleam in her yellow eyes was somehow also... cheerful? It was something that would make those not used to the elf shiver. "So, now that that is out of the way, are you just here taking a parfait nap or were you doing something else and I interrupted your break?"

Amarante seemed very casual about attempts on her life. At least regarding the one in question. "Maybe with your wardrobe choices you appeal to a type of killer that's incompatible with you Hydecchi. Not that I'd... suggest romantic entanglement with someone that attempted to kill you." All she could really do was shrug. What was done was done, after all. The more she tried to run away from her feelings the stronger they persisted. "Besides. He's too cute to kill. And I couldn't help but be interested, being that he was willing to listen to me..." She seemed to be quite satisified with that point, smiling contentedly. "That's pretty rare, you know, for someone hunting the supernatural."

Though it was good that Hyde accepted that severing the link was impossible and would kill both the man in question and Amarante herself, the implications still left her feeling unsettled. "Do that and the consequences would make you regret it. Deeply." It came out more as a threat than she intended, however, so she felt the need to explain. "What I'm saying is... I can handle it, you know? If things go awry. I have so far, and..." The pain still felt very fresh, probably due to the betrayal and lack of closure involved. "Things shan't be out of my control again, if I can help it."

Mom Hyde was being mom Hyde again. Amarante pushed the empty parfait glass and erotic manual out of the way to stretch herself out over the bar tiredly. "But I'm always sleeping here like this. Am I not allowed to indulge myself from time to time? Just returned from a short trip and am totally exhausted, too~" She felt it was her right to relax after a trip full of eating and hijinks with a can. That aside, she pulled a bottle out from behind the bar. "This is for you, by the way." She pushed the bottle of Sendai sake over towards the elf.
