Kamiki Spinel couldn't believe she had been in these new lands for so long already. A whole turn of the seasons, and she had decided to stick around. There was just something about this place. It was expansive and beautiful and the land just seemed to crackle and breathe with a magic she hadn't seen anywhere else. It seemed to always...draw others to it. She had met other travelers on her way, and they all seemed to feel similar to how she did.
But that didn't mean there wasn't a lot to explore! The land was huge and she had yet to sniff around corner of it. Now that summer was in full force, she was enamored by how green everything was! Berries were everywhere and the clover was so thick in places it resembled the waves of the ocean.
Only, you know. Green.
Today she decided to seek out the company of others around a common gathering point: a deep stream that carved its way through a wildflower kissed meadow.

"Oh no! Oh no!" Ashling fretted and stamped her hooves to little use, only seeming to make things worse as a little wildfire had sprung to life under her feet. She had tried to stay to the stream. She really had. She had been having such marvelous adventures lately - and her confidence had been budding in seeing more of the lands. And the streams were such marvelous things - she could wade through them and keep her hooves wet so as to not set fire to grass!
But... the flowers had been just SO pretty. She had never seen any quite like them. And the grass looked.... SO tasty. She wanted to get a quick peek. But unfortunately, even though she had really TRIED To stick to the muddy banks of the river, she must have ventured a little too far, and flames had leapt from her hooves into the grass.
She looked up, face coloring with embarrasment as she saw the arrival of a purple mare with the most amazing tail. "Oh no! Help! Or.... or stay away! I'm sorry! I didn't mean to light the grass on fire!"

Kamiki "I'm coming!" she said, though the twist that tightened ever so slightly on her neck let her know that her serpentine companion already knew this was going to be a horrible idea. But she didn't care - she had to save her.
Whipping up into the air, and then dive-bombing her, Spinel crashed hard into Ashling, attempting to quickly pull her back into the stream, and hoping she didn't get too fringed in the process.

"EEP!" Ashling squealed as the mare unexpectedly charged her. At first, her heart seized in her chest. Had she met someone who wasn't as understanding as the soquili she had been meeting lately? Was this one like the ones back when she was little who were scared of her fires (and possibly righty so?) She squeezed her eyes shut, already begining to splutter an apology when she felt herself knocked forcefully backwards, and her feet touching the river.
There was a loud HISSSSSSS as the water swallowed up her burning hooves, extinguishing them, and Ashling tentatively opened up an eye to see, not anger or hate int he mare's eyes, but concer.
Her ears drooped as her fear turned to embarrassment - both at thinking the worst, and having started the fire to begin with. "I'm sooooo sorry. Are you okay? Your tail isn't singed, is it? It's so big and pretty!"

"My tail?" she asked, absent mindedly as she got up, her usually puffy fur now soaking and clinging to her body in strange ways. "OH, my tail!" She whipped it around, still mostly dry for the sake that it was just so massive and fluffy that it would take an obscene amount of water (or full submersion) to get it all wet.
She inspected it thoroughly, making sure there were on singe marks. "Nope! I think its good!" she said with a giggle in her voice. "What about you? Oh my! You're on fire!!

Ashling watched with undisguised wonder and awe as the purple mare inspected her enormous tail. A tinge of longing - of what it would be like to have a still unusual but not dangerous appendage like that flitted briefly through her mind before she focused on the present.
She shook her head quickly, the flames dancing in her mane as she did. "I... I know. I'm sorry if I scared you, but thank you for helping me into the water. They... they never reall go out - unless I'm wet like this. I'm so sorry about the grass back there... this isn't your land, is it? Oh, I really hope it isn't... I... I always seem to cause problems wherever I go..." She hung her head guiltily.
Her eyes lingered back to Spinel, "You.... are you a soquili?" She asked sheepishly, the words kind of tumbling out before she had the forethought to check them if they might be offensive. she'd never seen one like that - her face looked more like a fox, and she had feathers and fur and wings and clawed feet.

"Oh, that's quite fascinating," the purple mare admitted, watching the lovely little mare speak about her fire. "DO be on fire all the time...it doesn't hurt?" She wasn't being judgmental, just curious. She had never been on fire, well, not really, ever but she had been around fire enough to know that it hurts.
"OH no that's not my land, I'm just passing through. Its just grass, I'm sure it will grow back just fine." When the fiery mare asked if she was a Soquili, it was the first time her eyes squinted up in confusion. She was so fluffy when she smiled, her cheeks seem to cover her eyes, but when her expression was relaxed like this, Ashling could see her big, shining eyes were as purple and bright as everything else about her.
"Soquili?" She blinked before breaking out into a fit of giggles. "Of course I am, what else would I be?" She suddenly look scandalized, as if this was an epiphany for her. "OH my...are you a Soquili?"

Ashling shook her head with a nervous smile, "No, it doesn't hurt... well, ah, at least it doesn't hurt me. Unfortunately..." She trailed off, looking at the smoldering area of grass she had accidentally ignited. "THat isn't the case for everyone." Her ears lay back against her head sheepishly.
"I'm glad that I didn't do too much damage... this time at least." She heaved a frustrated sigh, "And that this isn't like... your land or something - not that it isn't nice land! I just... I wouldn't want to damage something that belongs to someone else.... again."
"And I hope I didn't offend! You're just so... unusual! Pretty! But.. unusual! I wasn't sure. You're not like any other soquili I've seen before. And oh yes! I am, too! I'm pretty sure at least. My mom was a kirin."
