█ The Training CompoundThis military academy is situated at the foot of a rocky cliff, right by a small mountain range between Hermiha and Trost (which places it within Wall Rose). It does not lie upon any trade routes or right next to any village. An offshoot stream from the main south-flowing river of the districts trickles through the nearest valley. It ends where it joins a small lake bordered by forests. 1 ▌ Trainees ▌ ▌Enrollment ▌ ▌Uniform ▌ ▌Duties 2 ▌ Grounds ▌ ▌Field ▌ ▌Arena ▌ ▌Walls ▌ ▌Bell Towers ▌ ▌Infirmary and Lecture Hall ▌ ▌Administrative Building ▌ ▌Mess Hall ▌ ▌Kitchens ▌ ▌Faculty Residences | Hawk and Pigeon Loft ▌ ▌Stalls and Barn ▌ ▌Dorm Tragen ▌ ▌Dorm Falke ▌ ▌Dorm Luchse 3 ▌ The Dorms ▌ ▌Sorting ▌ ▌Falke Dorm ▌ ▌Luchse Dorm ▌ ▌Tragen Dorm 4 ▌ Faculty and Administration ▌ ▌Instructors ▌ ▌Other Faculty

█ EnrollmentEvery four months (three times per year), a convoy of carts ship newly recruited trainees to the Military Academy, where their education begins. To become a new recruit, a citizen first needs to find a recruitment officer. These will sometimes visit rural towns of sufficient population size, but otherwise, villagers from very rural towns will have to make their way to a town that has a military presence. All districts close to the walls have at least a Garrison outpost where one can find a recruitment officer (Ex.: Shiganshina). In Utopia, both Garrison or Military Police quarters will have recruitment officers. The Survey Corps do not carry the tools necessary for a full physical examination around, therefore they do not have any scouts to serve as recruitment officers among them. Once in touch with a recruitment officer, you will be given a physical examination in this order: ▮ Hearing loss test (tuning fork) ▮ Color Blindness test ▮ Myopia test (If you pass the rest and have none, the military will provide glasses.) ▮ Stripping to one's skivvies ▮ Height and weight measurement ▮ A series of movement and coordination tests ▮ Bleeding test (blood is drawn to check for signs of panic or fainting) If you pass, you will receive a form with your physical examination information already filled in. You must fill it with your personal information and signature after reading the clauses about: ▮ Obeying superiors ▮ List of possible duties ▮ A list of infractions and associated punishments ▮ Sole responsibility in the case of injuries or death ▮ Conditions to be discharged from the military After which you will be given a uniform and taught how to salute. You are then ready to depart on the next convoy to the Training Facility. Pre-attack, the military does not welcome liars, thieves and criminals (and the recruitment officer who enrolls one would see their reputation suffer), so persons of dubious enough manners, appearance, speech and origin are like to meet with resistance and further questioning. The recruitment officer can refuse applicants they do not like what they hear, or alternatively, they will accept criminals except murderers conditionally with a note on their application stating that after graduation, they have no choice but to join the Survey Corps. With their low survival rates this is almost a death sentence. After the Breach, these conditions will be loosened considerably. █ Uniform---- █ DutiesStudents are expected to practice discipline, train and earn their stay through performing these regular duties. You can RP your trainee on any of these duties as you see fit! These are not official positions, but jobs that all trainees share, sometimes via rotation. No need for any signups. • Barn animal care (brush horses, feed, clean stalls, feed the dogs and cats) • Avian care (clean the pigeon loft and hawk pens, feed birds) • Barber (clean, learn to buzz cut?!) • Courier (run errands/messeges all across campus) • Equipment management (fill gas tanks, polish gear, sharpen used blades) • Janitor (every trainee does this as part of regular daily duties) • Kitchen aid (with Gordoy Ramsan as your chef) • Nurse assistant (assist in nursing injured and sick students and occasionally animals)

█ FieldThe dirt field where trainees gather when called. This is where the morning workout (Phys Ed) takes place, as well as the following classes: Hand-to-Hand Combat, First Aid, and Artillery. █ ArenaA massive dirt arena surrounded by walls, used for riding practice. A typical punishment to discipline trainees is to have them run laps around the inside of the arena's walls until they collapse. █ WallsThese walls aren't very tall and aren't built for people to walk on top of them. They are the boundaries of the military academy's grounds, meant to keep people where they should be- though the surrounding wilderness is also used for training. 1 █ Bell Towers Structures that also serve as watchtowers. Trainees are assigned bell tower duty if they volunteer for it, but at other times, as punishment since it warrants waking up earlier than the others and being both late to the mess hall for meals and earlier to have to leave. Though not all days are like this, here are the rings you'll hear in an 'average' day: 5 AM ▌12 Rings. Wake up call that also signifies that breakfast is served and ready in the mess hall. 5:50 AM ▌6 Rings 10 minutes before morning workout begins (Phys Ed)- gather on the field. 7 AM ▌6 Rings Other scheduled class begins. 12 PM ▌12 Rings Lunch is served in the mess hall. 12:50 PM ▌6 Rings Other scheduled class begins. 4 PM ▌6 Rings Other scheduled class begins. 7 PM ▌12 Rings Dinner is served in the mess hall. 8 PM ▌3 Rings Evening Curfew. Everyone should head to their dorms at this hour and are... SUPPOSED to sleep? Not that everyone sleeps. Schedules aside, the rings themselves have meaning. Usually there is a space of about 5 seconds between each ring. The huge bells are loud enough to be heard even outside of the Military Compound's walls. They can even be heard (albeit faintly) at the far end of the Arena. 3 Rings ▌"Trainees return to or stay in their Dorms" 6 Rings ▌"Gather in the field" 12 Rings ▌"Gather at the Mess Hall" Fast-paced continuous ring ▌"Danger: Drop what you're doing, Suit Up and Rush Outside for Instruction." (this is sometimes used as an emergency drill for trainee's response speed.) If anyone rings the bells without permission, they will be disciplined. 2 █ Infirmary | Lecture HallWhen you've got an owie, head over to this building where a nurse or the First Aid instructor will take care of you. There are a total of 6 beds for those who require rest or are in bad enough condition. There is a classroom on the second floor where theory classes are taught. Desks, chalk and a blackboard. 3 █ Administrative BuildingLarge building with an office on the second floor where official and business meetings are held. When not teaching, the Chief Instructor will usually be here. It has a basement used for storage of training school resources other than food. All of the documents, reports and paperwork pertaining to the Military Academy are in here and their processing can be assisted by trainees (currently, Galacie Priesterin is doing so.) 4 █ Mess Hall The dining room where trainees eat and socialize. Long wooden tables are set with food before they arrive. 5 █ KitchensBuilding where food is stored and prepared three times daily into meals. Before mealtimes are announced, the assistant cooks here (trainees can volunteer as such) prepare the tables in the mess hall with food. Stealing food or entering the kitchen buildings without permission are punishable! 6 █ Faculty Residences | Hawk and Pigeon LoftMostly small buildings where faculty reside. The building closest to the Infirmary (and Administrative Building) was repurposed as a Hawk and Pigeon Loft. The Messenger Pigeons reside in the loft, but the Hawks have individual pens and must be kept far from the pigeons, understandably. The pigeons are used to deliver short messages over long distances using their homing instinct. The hawks are trained both as hunters and as scouts who can fly over large areas and use their cries to report sightings. 7 █ Stalls and BarnStalls and Barn for the horses kept by the Academy to train students in riding. Often, these are rickety old retired Survey Corps horses or horses with too much attitude to have made their cut. The Military keeps a few dogs and cats at the barn to help in keeping the vermin population low. 8 █ Dorm TragenOne of the three student dorms, where trainees sleep and reside. Positioned between a wall and Dorm Luchse, they've got a boring view compared to the other dorms. 9 █ Dorm FalkeOne of the three student dorms, where trainees sleep and reside. Not-so-Nice horsey scents sometimes waft up their way from the stalls. 10 █ Dorm LuchseOne of the three student dorms, where trainees sleep and reside. Positioned farthest from the outhouses. How sad for them when they need to go in the middle of the night.

█ SortingAfter the tri-yearly arrival of new recruits and the welcome speech that follows, Trainees are sorted into one of three dorms. If you have a trainee and need them to be sorted into a dorm, follow the instructions in Orientation: Welcoming the New Trainees [ORP]! Nothing keeps Trainees from socializing and hanging out with those from other dorms during breaks and classes, but as with any grouping of people, an Our-Dorm-Is-Better-Than-Yours mentality tends to arise and each dorm kind of has its own rumors about the other dorms floating about. This competitive attitude is amped up to the extreme when the occasional inter-dorm competition takes place. A dorm is a two-story building, separated into two sides: one side for male students and the other for female students. Bunks (rooms) can house up to 4 trainees each. **You choose who you bunk with. They can be on the first or second floor of the building. There is a single break room at the entrance of each dorm. There is a fireplace, plenty of chairs that are occasionally stolen from other dorms, and two small tables in the room. It's not big enough for everyone in the dorm to cram in, but it's good enough for a group or two to hang out. Pets are not allowed to be kept inside the dorms, but sometimes strays wander into the training compounds. Since they help keep the rodent population low, the military does not mind their presence. █ Dorm Tragen█ Dorm Luchse█ Dorm Falke

█ Faculty and AdministrationWhen an NPC is marked public: yes it means that they can be RPed by anyone in the shop. For instance if you wished to RP a 3DMG class, you could RP Santos shouting instructions at your character. Take what you will from NPC descriptions; whatever the community does with a public NPC is canon for that NPC within Beyond Walls. Except if it's unreasonable like growing cat ears or falling in love with someone's trainee... XDSantos Baldy Public?: YES Name: Santos Baldy Teaches: Phys Ed, 3DMG (Practical). Also the Chief Instructor. Age: 46 Town of Origin: Shinganshina
Appearance: See Orientation.
Personality: ^See above. Santos is the Alpha Baldy, father to way too many sons and a single daughter. Feel free to create more Baldy family members. For anything about the daughter, contact Yushika!. Thistle d'Aster Public?: YES Name: Thistle d'Aster, trains scouting falcons Teaches: Artillery Age: 29 Town of Origin: Dauper
Appearance: Sharp, cut features, a soft, gentle voice and a lithe and agile build make him seem almost elven. He is, however, quite a lot taller than one might expect of an elf. He sports thin, pointed purplish-lavender hair, a beard, doe-like green eyes, and the typical long-coated uniform of instructors at the academy.
Personality: Thistle was taught to hunt by his father but soon learned that he enjoys the sport and hobby of archery more than hunting itself. While somewhat obsolete, he can often be found practising his archery on non-living targets (and at other times, training the facility's hawks.) When he joined the military, his sharpshooting interest grew into the current flintlock rifles and pistols as well as cannonfire; range, speed and accuracy are his game. He finds it enjoyable to teach students and see them improve in the fields of his interest, but does not feel bothered if they lack the same interest. He is a kind man; his apparent docility belies a great strength of character that will put family and the lives of his student's first and be able to take quick initiatives to defend them, no matter the cost or situation.
He has a wife and two daughters off-grounds and is an excellent father. (Feel free to make those characters)Gazelle Thomson Public?: YES Name: Gazelle Thomson Teaches: 3DMG (Theory), on-campus engineer Age: 20 Town of Origin: Hermiha
Appearance: An, orange-haired, orange-eyed young lady with shiny goggles. Usually seen in her engineer's working clothes, bulky and packed with tools, with her long coated instructor's tied into a big knot behind her so that it does not get in the way of her workshop duties.
Personality: She doesn't make a very exciting teacher, or company for that matter, due to her flat personality and monotonous, robotic speech and manner. She will proceed through the theory thoroughly... and with no detectable enthusiasm whatsoever. At least her explanations are complete, and she will repeat them as many times as needed. Gazelle's expressions are always on the margins of blank. While her genius may have brought her this far, she does not spare any of that intellect for developing social skills. She'll come off as quiet, cold and even rude, but truth is, she does hold affection for her students and her work and will help out to her best ability with all she can if asked. Gazelle prizes efficiency and inventiveness. However, she flees at the slightest sign of danger and would not have the courage to face a titan for real. Off class hours, she can usually be found repairing or putting together 3DMGs or other equipment.
Feel free to make a character related to Gazelle.Eclipse Kunze Public?: YES Name: Eclipse Kunze Teaches: Does not teach. Finances. Spies for nobles. Age: 34 Town of Origin: Kohl (city within wall Sina)
Appearance: Eclipse is a shockingly tall, but bodacious lady with a very cold and intimidating silver gaze and a deep, airy voice. Her manner is purely professional, and she is very competent at what she does. Training facility staff, including Santos, do not like her because she always reports any faults she finds with them and the grounds. The atmosphere between them is chilly at best, but there's nothing facility staff can do about her without compromising their own positions.
Personality: Her actual profession is an accountant for one of the royal treasury departments, so she does not reside on the training grounds. Every week she will make a single appearance at the Military Academy to keep account of their expenses and inform them of the state of their finances with the governmental allowance.
Occasionally, she will mysteriously stay at the training facility for a few days in a row. During this time she will change to the outfit seen on the right and take interest in the daily life of trainees, checking up on them and their happenings with attention to detail and a kind, motherly concern which never seems to appear in any other context. She acts as a counsellor when trainees need it, giving them sound advice and support.
Truth is, she is often tasked by noble families in Sina to check up on their children who have joined the military and make sure these noble children are treated well and not damaging their family's standing. She has taken to this extra role with ease; she used to be a nursemaid, in fact, and has a soft spot for children. Rather than focusing on the nobles she is supposed to be supervising, she takes an interest in pretty much any children who look like they need encouragement.
Eclipse has no family of her own. :CSaga Somnis NPC played by Mythee. You may contact him for PRPs. Name: Saga Somnis Teaches: Misc. Tutor / Substitute Teacher Age: 17 Town of Origin: Mitras
Appearance: Saga's pale, perfect skin, flowery speech and proud, straight-backed demeanor easily mark him off as a noble. He has large, sharp yellow eyes and a sharp if not overdramatic sense of dress, but the rest of his appearance is the opposite of sharp; voluminous, near-black hair (actually a very dark brown) sweeps behind him either in a massive ponytail or a fluffy mass, and he never did really fully grow out of his baby fat, leaving him with a trace of pudge enough to round off all of his features and disguise his sizeable muscles. He usually looks younger than he is, but when he dresses up as female, he looks like a shapely woman. rofl
Personality: Let's just... write this later.Dr. August Gru NPC played by Musica. You may contact him for RP's. Name: Dr. August Gru Teaches: First Aid Age: 38 Town of Origin: Dauper
Appearance: - messy, short, curly black hair. - some stubble - honey brown eyes - handsome face with a square jaw - 6'1 - lean musculature.
Personality:
He's a pretty easygoing fella, who keeps a cool and laidback demeanor. You won't see him serious most times, or intense in any sort of fashion, even when he's got a armless man screaming and wailing on the table before him needing to be stitched up. You'll often hear him humming a pleasant little tune to himself, and with a pleasant looking smile on his face. More times than not, he won't react to things how one should "appropriately" do so. This can lead to him creating awkward or uncomfortable situations, and making many people question his morals and character.
Regardless, he's a prodigy at his job, and does it well... even if he might be a little morbid with his humor towards the ailing from time to time. Marco Baldy Public?: YES Name: Marco Baldy Teaches: Riding. Age: 38 Town of Origin: Shiganshina
Appearance: Like the rest of the baldies.
Personality: Marco considers himself to be something of a horse whisperer, and in truth, he is. He is masterful at handling the military horses. He's big, but lithe. He's got a smooth, soft voice, and doesn't ever raise it no matter how frustrated he's getting with the poor souls that have no idea how to ride a horse. He's actually rather docile when compared to the rest of his family - except when it comes to the safety of his horses - and by extension, the safety of his pupils. Marco does not tolerate stupidity or carelessness when it comes to his horses or the people who interact with his horses, and any sort of disregard for the beasts will only lead to an angry Marco (which is somewhat terrifying). However, he will never shout in front of the horses (unless absolutely necessary), and will only raise his voice once he's out of earshot of the ponies. Terry Tuggle NPC played by pinchmonster. You may contact her for RP! Name: Mr. Terry Tuggle, it rhymes with huggle! Teaches: Doesn't teach, but is a counselor of sorts. Age: 43 Town of Origin: Shiganshina
Appearance: See avatar. He's got a big bushy handlebar mustache, pink cheeks, and blue eyes. Black hair and big eyebrows, too. He also has the habit of wearing very brightly colored socks??? Pattered ones, but his favorite have multi-colored kittens on them. He spends way too much money on his socks, too, and probably has even learned to knit so that he can make his own. He also wears flamboyant hair decorations and piles of tinkly gold and silver bangles, because he believes that if you're pretty on the outside, you'll feel pretty on the inside, too.
Personality: He's kind of weird. Okay, he's really weird. He believes that teamwork is incredibly important, and if anyone is showing signs of being unable to get along with someone else, he'll "punish" them in the most bizarre ways. He'll force them to work together the entire day while tied together at the wrists and ankles, or make them sit in a room together so they can talk about their feelings while he supervises. He'll make them plant a garden together, or make them pretend to be actors in a play in order to deal with their issues. He'll make them wear notes pinned to their chest that say things like, "Ask me why I was being mean to so-and-so!" He'll do things like gather people together for little interventions, complete with "you have to hold the talking stick in order to talk" - because mental well-being is very important to him.Ervette Phaedra Public?: YES Name: Ervette Phaedra Teaches: Survival Basics Age: 24 Town of Origin: Karanese
Appearance: An agile, woman of average build standing at about 5'6. Spends a great deal of time refining her knowledge of the local wild life, and plants. She's good with building a fire from limited materials, and frequently hikes, and takes trips to the near by Forest of Giant Trees all throughout her childhood and well into her adult life. Her hair usually is wild, and bushy as if she forgot to run a brush through it. She wears a friendly, if not smugly confident smirk. Her golden-brown eyes are watchful, always taking in her surroundings and mentally mapping her location.
Personality:
Energetic | Competitive | Impulsive | Athletic
A lively if not sometimes down right animated teacher. She thrives in imparting her survival skills to her fellow students, and approaches things with a hands on tenacity. She is confident, and unafraid to go the extra mile to ensure proper safety measures and precautions are always followed. Knowing how to survive in the field is imperative for future success, for those both inside and outside the wall. Always prepared, and sharp witted. Cherice Lawrence Public?: YES Name: Cherice Lawrence Teaches: Doesn't teach, she is the resident onsite vet. Age: 28 Town of Origin: Trost
Appearance: Focused and dedicated, she keeps her appearance neat, and always ties her long dark brown hair back. She almost always has an animal with her. Wears a standard military uniform along with a utility belt with all her medical supplies should a horse need urgent care. Hailing from Trost she spent most her time studying animals, and learning how to care from them from her Veterinary father.
Personality:
Genuine | Absent-Minded | Compassionate | Perceptive
Gentle, soft spoken and easy to speak with. Cherry loves animals, and has dedicated her military career to learning how to care for them. She goes out of her way to care for any animal on base that may be injured or malnourished..even the local strays they let stay in the barn. While she prefers her animal companions she'll gladly assist those in need. Keeps to herself, and is hard working.Ms. Pleasant Public? YES Name: Ms. Pleasant Teaches: Leadership and Strategy - Theory Age: 34 Town of Origin: Trost
Appearance: Pale skin, white hair, pale eyes. Wears glasses, over-sized sweaters and pants. Carries herself straight, shoulders back, very proud. She's short of stature, and talks in somewhat of a loud voice - one almost surprisingly loud for a woman as small as she is.
Personality: Ms. Pleasant is a very serious, very small woman. She gestures while she talks, and she talks loudly. She's a very animated woman, and is constantly moving. She does not fear eye-contact, and will sometimes make uncomfortable eye-contact with someone in order to prove a point she's trying to make. She firmly believes in the things that she teaches, and she very much enjoys the subject, because she excels at it. Ms. Pleasant can and will take control of the room with one single look, if she needs to.
