The world is being reborn from the ashes of its old self, and from that pile of dust The Brotherhood is rising like a phoenix.

Others are suffering from the devastation -- but for The Brotherhood, it seems that rebirth has actually strengthened the pack. Long has the Shadowclan struggled...but those struggles are drawing to a close, and a new chapter is beginning....

Welcome to the official plot thread for The Brotherhood. The purpose of this thread is to get everybody up to speed on what's happening and who's around for plotting. It's been a chaotic time, but my goal is to get things stabilized enough that those of you with Brotherhood wolves can really, properly play them.

Announcement!
One change in the way things work: Moving forward, we won't have access to the cloak art due to some OOC and IC factors. I would like for us to continue having some kind of RP perk we can earn, though, since these guys can't be bred.

I was thinking either a ritualized scarification or some sort of tattoo/war paint could work well as a substitute. After you earn full membership into the pack/meet your RP requirements, your character gets a certain identifying mark. I'm putting up a poll about it, and feel free to discuss this all here as well.

Timeline of Events

Everything that's happened, to bring you up to speed.

If you have an RP that fits within this timeline, or want to ret-con an RP together to occur at any point in this time, let me know.

The Original RP Contest -- For Catching up on History

* Danel, the god-alpha, disappeared with a handful of his most loyal servants (including the betas Betzalel and Occidio) in his search for the traitor.

* With Danel gone for a long time, Rummy gathered several of his own followers and headed out to continue the search.

* Meanwhile, Rotiart and Bijou had a litter and dumped off the male pups near pack territory -- Rorret and Collier

* Rorret grows up to become a pup thief and sets about with the ultimate goal of rebuilding this pack he's grown up in -- because if it falls apart, he has nowhere to turn.

* Danel, in his search for the traitor, comes across a pack of females who keep males as slaves. He speaks with a slave, Iosef, who tells him that he has seen no traitor here, but points him in the direction of a neighboring pack.

* Rorret's spy, a fox named Jasper, spies Danel and comes back to report the news. Rorret tells two trusted packmates, Arkadios and Xihuitl, this news. Xihuitl, among others, is sent to find Danel and bring him home.

* Firdaws, on the trail of Danel, ends up distracted by a female, whom he hunts. She fights back, though, grievously injuring him.

* Injured and delirious, Firdaws is located by Rorret, who drags him home.

* In his delirium, Firdaws has a vision that Danel, the god-alpha, has actually ascended into being a true god. It's a rumor that some of the more gullible pack members are likely to believe. For the younger among them, Danel is nothing more than a ghost story anyway. Rorret, seeing the potential in this, chooses to spread the idea as much as possible.

* Meanwhile, Rorret has been doing what he can to swell the ranks of the pack, thieving pups when he can do so. He yearns for the coveted Thiefmaster position, currently held by Loki.

* Rorret, in his wandering, meets a female. Their relationship, such as it is, developed, and they came to an agreement -- she needed daughters, and he desperately wanted a male pup to bring home, someone with true promise who could grow to be important.

* Rorret returns to Azalea to take his bounty -- a single male pup, Zarathustra, in whom Rorret places all of his hopes and ambitions. He brings him home, claiming to the pack that the pup is his half-brother, abandoned by their mother as he himself was. The lie is convincing enough that Rorret begins to believe it himself.

Upcoming Plot Points

These things haven't happened yet, but they're plotted to occur in the new timeline. If you're interested in adding an RP to this timeline and/or want to claim a role in any of these plot points, let me know.

* Rorret and a few of his companions go hunting and stumble upon a group of wandering young wolves -- including a young couple and their six puppies. They descend upon them, killing several (including an adult and a few female pups) and capturing a pair of young males. ((plot involving Bombazine - Teigra and Zolis, you also have wolves (Sophia and Melka) hanging out with this group of pups if you want to join up with it))

* The two young males captured become extremely close to Zarathustra, growing up together as a trio of dear friends. ((One of these puppies is going to be contested off -- details forthcoming))

* Meanwhile, Zarath is growing up to become as well-liked and influential as possible. He is naturally charismatic and genuinely feels that he has some part of the god-alpha inside of him (Remember Firdaws's crazy visions? Zarath believes every word). ((lots of RP potential here -- I'd like him to meet and develop relationships with anyone/everyone to see how it all plays out.))

* After the cataclysm befalls Telk, Rorret takes an opportunity to put an end to all of this once and for all. He drags back bodies/proof of the deaths of Rummy, Danel and Rotiart, weaving a heroic tale that's sure to become legend. Of course, the bodies are not actually who he says they are -- they're mutilated beyond recognition -- but he believes that the only way for the pack to move forward/heal is if they give up on all of their pointless searching. ((If you want to participate, ping me, but I was just planning to SRP this part out to avoid tedium))

* Zarath ultimately ascends to alpha-hood. The pack enters a period of relative stability and peace, giving everyone ample time to see how they fit into it, develop new relationships, grow etc.

* After all of that is said and done, the hell can break loose and drama can develop again -- but we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.

Unanswered Questions

OK, phew, I think that pretty much catches us up with all of the plotting I've done so far with all of you. If I forgot anything big, please by all means let me know.

Here's my goal in all of this: I want to give you Brotherhood people an RP experience that feels satisfying after all this waiting.

So help me help you. What do you want for your characters? How can we create a satisfying story arc for them?

It may be that some of the original wolves need their stories to be retconned a little -- totally fine. It may be that you need to play out some interactions, form some relationships etc. to see what you're doing next -- also totally fine.

So I give this thread over to you. Talk among yourselves, ask questions, set up RPs, sort things out.

Meanwhile: If you need to get hold of me, you can always ping me on AIM at Fenshae or catch me in thread by quoting me.

Let's make this happen, y'all.

(Hope it's okay to post idk HI ON THE PHONE~)

There was an rp where Rotiart discovered Cocidius's whereabouts and that he was mated with children and was basically trolling him. Not terribly important to history unless Jungle comes back, at which point he has leverage for the BHood to find another escapee. >] There's also of course the idea of meeting his son briefly because things and stuff~

Naturally if anyone wants something about the traitor, feel free to nab me once things have settled! Damn guy's still around and kicking.

Otherwise, if someone wants to get in on the 'Hood with an existing wolf (or future breedings idk), Sato really wants to keep proving himself; he's especially proud that the acquisition of Rorret made such a difference, for instance. He does much better with younger wolves thanks to his mothering tendencies.

And of course natch he wants to get up in current members' businesses--mostly to nuzzle and gambol around and just be way too relieved everyone's alive. /o/

For the timeline: Sometime before Danel disappears, Dustiel enters the pack and is Betzalel's apprentice, being groomed from pup-hood to take Betzalel's place. Dustiel is in his later teens when Danel and Betzalel leave.

Eventually Dustiel becomes a beta.

OH YEA. And hey, I think I actually saw RPs for both of those things so I can linky 'em.

I'll have to wait until I'm more awake to figure out if and where Dios fits into the meta. However! I do know that he remains the Warmaster, and Danel is still the God-Alpha in his heart, though he acknowledges that the pack needs to get back on its paws.

More to the point, now that his apprentice Soren is (presumably) dead, he's feeling a little put out. So if there are any young pups out there interested in being a warrior, or potentially Warmaster someday, let me know. There is potential plottage to be had.

Also, ICly, he's been with the pack since a bit before Danel disappeared, so he's technically an established member and presumably knows other olbies (though I'm pretty new, be gentle).

Okay, huzzah! So, between reviewing the original concept contest thread and a few key phrases in the heir's prompt, while setting up a new journal and poking Fallyn's muse with a long stick, lemme see if I can propose a bit of a reboot for him here with some potential direction for once. XD (Forgive rambling, this is helping me work things out as I type as well. sweatdrop APOLOGIES FOR WALL OF TEXT! xd )

Clearly, much of Fallyn's fear came from the Weapon, Occidio; however, on some level, he'd also come to fear his own Brothers, or at least the consequences if they ever fully rejected him. It's much of what made him a coward from growing up, being forced to compete with others his age, and why he was set apart from them by Danel's favor.

At the same time, he loves the Brotherhood itself as a whole, and obviously worshiped Danel as his god. Clearly, he could never be the kind of leader that Danel was...and that was discouraging to any thoughts he may have had to actually deserving the title of 'Heir.' He did not inspire the confidence in his Brothers that Danel did, and in fact, reserved the belief that many of them personally resented him...whether this is a legit belief or not.

So, Fallyn was a bit of a self-imposed loner, trying to keep out of the spotlight rather than bask in it. Cue the disappearance of Danel and his betas. The god is gone, but so is his weapon. Fear and reverence gone, leaving an empty void, which is the sort of 'floating' Heir we saw in RP...still loyal to the Brotherhood, but unwilling to step up and claim power for himself, hoping instead that Danel would return triumphantly in the future...preferably without Occidio. >.>

Things seemed to get better at first when Rummy stepped up, and Fallyn was content to fall back to the shadows, as long as his survival wasn't called into question; he could care less about the title otherwise. Honestly, the title had only really meant 'protection' as long as Danel had given it to him. But with Danel gone...?

Fallyn had been well aware of the problems that existed beneath the surface during the end of Danel's reign before his disappearance. The Alpha God was not the problem, but his subordinates had been. There were problems all through the Brotherhood, from the unstable Weapon to the Traitor himself. The Heir could see the problems...but not how to fix them. However, if some of those problems were to vanish, and clean, new blood had taken their place...perhaps there was hope yet for the Brotherhood to thrive after disaster once again.

Pushed by Marrok's nagging to 'make friends', Fallyn has since become more active with his other Brothers when possible. He's still unwilling to seize power for himself, since Rummy could well return just as likely as Danel, and the Heir still believes himself unworthy to command the Brotherhood as its leader. Still, he has connected better with his Brothers than in past seasons, working instead to hold the Brotherhood together and keep moving, rather than trying to take advantage of the situation.

Basically, Fallyn's trying to take part, more as 'one of the guys' rather than anything special (for now). He's still concerned with his own survival, of course, but also with the survival of the group. After seeing the Brothers nearly fall apart on two separate occasions, he's not ready to risk that again, as he knows his chances on the outside are far worse than they are within. Maybe this means he's gotten to be on better terms with some of the others? Poke me if interested? Maybe he's gathering his own little group of friends?

Maybe he goes along with Zarath claiming Alpha position at first? Maybe something happens though when it's revealed just what Rorret was up to? Maybe we have future conflict brewing? I don't know, but I love it! biggrin *shot*

*Pokes the poll* Hmn...what about some sort of bone helm with the Brotherhood symbol on the forehead of the skull? IDK if Jade would be up for that, but it IS more natural for wolves to have around, instead of cloaks. I'd be willing to even draw up the helm for all the male templates if she wanted.

I think paint or a scar or anything like that could be easily missed on a lot of the wolves due to colorations and stuff.
PostPosted: Sun May 18, 2014 10:12 pm

Ooo Yeah, I'd have to agree with Fayth's comment. Having a physical item may be a better alternative than a tattoo or marking which could be concealed based on a wolf's coloring.

As for the list, Elapse is "active", by which I mean in character he's still around raising pups and such, but I as the roleplayer may not be around as I'd like to.

Elijah, who was searching for the traitor, is missing as of the disaster and will be trying to return to the Brotherhood. How long his journey will take might be relative.

Fayth, that is actually a really excellent idea. I will float it by Jade to see if she'd be comfortable with it. I'd imagine you'd really only have to draw a couple skulls and then paste 'em onto the template, so it wouldn't be super labor-intensive to keep up with, and they'd look badass and imposing. And, IC-ly, it could be a right of passage: You'd have to go kill someone and bring back the skull to prove that you were serious about this and not squeamish.

@Daeril - Excellent. I'll update that. And I have to go find those links to add to the timeline. When I'm not so sleepy. But, anyway, no worries on that. Drop in when you can!

As a fun bit of trivia, I always thought that Elijah was really, really gorgeous. One of my favorite wolves in the shop actually smile
PostPosted: Thu May 22, 2014 6:03 am

Ooooo I like the bone idea, I think it fits well with the pack smile I was also thinking maybe like a scarf that covers the muzzle, and can wrap around the neck, and flow down and wrap around the shoulder and arm. But, that is kinda similar to the cloaks! Trying to think of something that could be bound around the wolves...: binding them to the pack...idk lol ninja: I like the bones though, because maybe higher ranks could have more bones (more kills)? smile

Just thought I'd mention that I like the bone idea, too (definitely with the symbol painted on the forehead). It makes all kinds of sense for a Bhood right of passage - prove your worth and commitment to the cause by killing another wolf. wink
