Built almost entirely of bamboo, the shinobi academy is a medium sized hut, stretching about thirty feet in each direction. The roof is peaked, reaching up another fifteen feet, and covered by a tarp to keep out the rain. The building itself contains only two rooms, both classrooms outfitted with enough desks and chairs to support about fifteen students, and one larger desk for the teacher. These classrooms are mainly used for teaching theory and non-destructive jutsu.

Arriving at the academy in near record time, Segare was relieved to see the students were apparently as tardy as he was today, and he was the first one to arrive. That suited him perfectly well, as they needn't ever know he had been late himself. Though to be fair in this instance late merely meant less than fifteen minutes early. He had a mere couple minutes before class was scheduled to start if he got his guess.
Moving quickly inside, Segare took a right, entering his classroom. The building was divided into two rooms, one he used when teaching, and the other Rin used. Luo mostly taught weapons and taijutsu, so he used the training grounds for most of his classes. Within the next minute, Segare had pushed all the student desks into a pile at one end of the classroom, and by the time Luo arrived at his more relaxed pace, he'd started laying out seating pillows instead. Looking up as the man entered, Segare tossed half his stack of pillows towards the man before continuing to lay them out.
"I dunno, seems to me as if the water would just be distracting still. Supose though, since the whole thing is a focus exercise, if you can focus with that, just think how much more focused you'd be without it!" Segare chuckled, resuming their interrupted conversation.

Luo Ushio๑Ushio Clanxxxx XXX⊗Weapon Masterxxxx▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁ ๑๑๑๑ Entering the small academy, Luo frowned slightly as he stood in the small hall between both classrooms. He couldn't imagine teaching any of the practical classes the other's did, it seemed too boring for him. Turning into the room on the left after hearing a bit of a commotion, he found Segare had taken the time to push all the desks in one corner, replacing them with seating pillows. Before he could remark however, the man tossed a bunch his way. There wasn't much Luo could do about it considering the surprise as well as the fact that they flew in his general direction at different angles so he managed, still somewhat confused.
Two in the right and were caught easily enough, one in the left. He brought his knee up to suppress the next two that came, however his face became an open target for the last one. Sliding off his face and onto the ground, Luo stood for a moment, not sure whether to be angry at Segare or not. The moment was still confusing for him. Allowing the ones in his hands to drop as the others had already done so, he sighed, exhaling through his nostrils as Segare began to speak, kneeling to help with seat placement as he realized what the volley was about.
It seemed Segare had been paying attention after all, Luo should've known better not to assume a man who seemed aloof wasn't paying attention. Although Luo's explanation was somewhat dismissed, he smiled in earnest towards the man as he explained why it seemed to help in his opinion. It was a good one of course, the man wasn't stupid. It was practical, simple, and definitely a truth in its own right. There's very little more distracting than trying to clear your mind while hundreds of thousands of gallons of water pound your head and your ears. In fact, dripping water was a well known method of torture.
Nodding in agreement with Segare, Luo placed the last pillow and stood back up, shaking his head side-to-side slightly to fix his recently ruffled hair. "So, today's about meditation I assume? Or is this a precursor to a bigger lesson?"

Segare snickered as he looked up from his work to see Luo covered in pillows. Apparently he'd caught him by surprise. Looking back to his own remaining pile as Luo started to gather his fallen pillows up, Segare sighed. Laying them out individually was just annoying. For a moment he considered throwing the rest to Luo as well, but then he shrugged, a better idea coming to mind. Carefully balancing the stack in the crook of his right arm, Segare started grabbing them and pegging them across the room like giant fluffy shuriken, aiming each one to drop into an empty space. Down to his last pillow in a matter of seconds, the overgrown child snickered again, pegging the last pillow at the back of Luo's head as the man attempted to fix his hair.
"Yeah." he replied to Luo's query, feigning ignorance as he leaned back against the room's only remaining desk. "I was trying to think of something simple to show them that would let them get the feel of their chakra, then I figured, why not just teach them how to climb inside their own heads and find it themselves?" he chuckled, before giving Luo a wry smile. "Course, meditation isn't really my strongest forte, so I'll probably be relying on you a lot to help them understand it." he said, shrugging helplessly. He could handle meditation well enough to do it himself. Could probably even teach someone easily enough one on one, but teaching fifteen kids at once alone was a trial he didn't really want to attempt. Luckily he had Meditation Man himself handy so he wouldn't need to.

Luo Ushio๑Ushio Clanxxxx XXX⊗Weapon Masterxxxx▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁ ๑๑๑๑ Eyeing the man's method of finishing his task, Luo didn't say much during the short ordeal as Segare seemed to find slight pleasure in it. It was then that another pillow was launched at his head, this time however Luo had done well to pay attention. With his right foot he kicked up in front of him a nearby pillow, clashing with the one thrown and forcing it off course, bouncing off the wall near the front of the room and landing close to where Segare would more than likely be. Snatching the other from the air, he tossed it back towards its original position, this time narrowing his eyes slightly towards Segare who looked as if he was none the wiser already mid-sentence.
As he chuckled, Luo didn't bother disagreeing, it was true what he was saying. And heck, he was making it easier for kids to understand which was certainly a plus. Then however, came the real reason Luo felt the man had asked him to attend his class. He would be relying on Luo 'a lot' as it seemed during the meditation class. As the man shrugged, Luo sighed a bit to himself as he scratched the back of his head. Dealing with fifteen kids was hard enough, but dealing with fifteen kids while trying to teach them all to meditate sounded like something Luo wouldn't even do for money. And while he hated to admit it, meditation was something Luo was quite keen on, and just as well believed it helped a lot. Still, being tricked into it wasn't part of the plan, and meditating in the stuffy room certainly wasn't prime either.
"I guess I have no real choice in the matter. First off, I'd suggest next time you do this class taking everyone out into the forest, preferably to a nearby waterfall. Set and setting are a big part of being able to clear one's mind."
▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁ ⊗⊗⊗⊗ Torikku Shotto [Trick Shot] Rank: C Type: Bukijutsu | Offensive Description: To perform this technique, the user must have mastered the basics of the throwing weapon used. The technique itself is deceptively simple, but highly difficult to actually perform. By throwing two weapons, at slightly different speeds and trajectories, the user causes them to collide in midair. Far from throwing the weapons off by this collision, the second weapon alters the trajectory of the first, redirecting it to fly in another direction. The part of this technique that requires the most practice and skill, is in timing the position and angle of the collision to make the first weapon strike a target. This technique can be used to strike a target that could not normally be hit from your current position due to the angle, or to surprise a target by hitting them from an unexpected direction. The skills learned for this technique can also be used to redirect another's weapons to strike a target of your own choice.

Rin stepped into the classroom quietly, as always. It was unlikely the others even bothered to track her movements anymore. while Luo and Segare had grown close through their constant duels Rin's quiet nature had somewhat distanced herself from the other two councilmembers. The students had worked even less with Rin. Her current contribution to the classes was a small amount of chakra control exercises to prepare them for jutsu, as well as some practical math and sciences from her school days. None of the students even knew what her specialty was. Genjutsu users were rare, even among the clans, and she doubted any of the students even knew of it.
"Another session? You two keep at it you might get hurt again." Rin stated, as she moved toward the corner of the room. While she had not taught many of the classes, Rin had personally sat in on every class so far. Some students had already dropped out. Others, especially Timmy, tended to fall behind when any degree of thought was required. Shikaku seemed to be good where focus lead others astray, but did poorly in anything requiring physical effort. Michiko... while she was having a hard time, did better than Rin had hoped. She was too stubborn to quit, and too good for to fail out. She was certainly riding a fine line though. "The kids are on their way. Looks like Timmy tried to stop them from coming, though im not sure if he was just being an idiot or not."

Enter from Residential Zone
After catching up to Shikaku, Michi had slowed down to a walk. She didn't bother chatting, instead being much more interested in trying to hum a tune she vaguely remembered from a play she had seen years ago. Somehow or other, she actually managed to get to the academy before Shikaku. Michiko noticed, but she didn't question how her sister had arrived first. The younger sibling simply was already accustomed to her sister's mysterious ways.
No, what interested her most was the variety of pillows scattered on the classroom floor. With eyes wide and sparkling with excitement, Michiko blurted out the first thing that popped into her head, "Ne ne, Segare-sensei! Luo-sensei! Will we be having a pillow fight?!". The easily excited blonde didn't even bother waiting for an answer before she started parading around the room singing, "Pillow fight! Pillow fight! Pillow fight!".

Segare lazily reached up and caught the pillow out of the air as it passed overhead, letting it drop immediately to an empty space just in front of and to the left of his desk, separate from the rest of the pillows. Luo could use that one. As Luo began giving his piece of advice, Segare's eyes locked on him, widened in an approximation of horror. "Next time?" the man breathed out. "Oh hell no, any that don't get this can be your little ducklings on your morning walks." he retorted. Every single morning it seemed like, Luo vanished for a good few hours before reappearing and blasting through his council duties. What he did after that seemed to vary by the day, but Segare was sure his vanishings were the time he used for meditation.
Rin's entry and comments garnered a wave, a smirk, and a laugh, but before Segare could actually comment, her little sister entered and started prancing around the room cheering about a pillow fight. Looking between the two sisters, Segare smirked again, cocking his head in Luo's direction. "You know, I think I'm starting to see the family resemblance." he commented, easily loud enough for Rin to hear, though Michiko would probably miss it as entranced as she was in her excitement over a potential pillow fight.
"Tempting, Michiko, but no." The man called out a bit louder in order to penetrate her field of noise. "The pillows are for sitting on. But if everyone behaves and does well, we'll see what can be done after class. Why don't you find a seat for now?" Segare grinned at the girl. He could see why Rin wanted to keep her out of this life, everything about the girl screamed innocent and to be protected. But at the same time, she showed quite a lot of potential in classes, even if Rin didn't want to see it. The girl took equally well to every subject she'd been presented with so far, something none of the other children had pulled off. If she could keep up that rate of learning right on up to jounin level, she'd be an incredibly powerful shinobi. For now though they'd still been working on pre-genin material. This lesson would mark the first in their final stretch before becoming genin, even though the students didn't know it yet.

Shikaku slipped into the room behind Michiko. The girl had caught up with him easily enough, and continued on ahead when they got to the school building proper. Shikaku had initially planned to wait until more students had arrived to enter, never liking to be among the first to arrive, but it'd have seemed rude in it's own way to completely avoid Michi, so he merely followed her in. He was in luck though, as the sight of pillows filling the room instead of desks sent the girl into a fit of glee, in his opinion masking his own entry quite nicely. Smiling at the girl's antics, Shikaku made his way to a back corner of the room, setting himself down astride a pillow. He intentionally chose one at a distance from Michiko's current location, not because he wanted to avoid her, but because Rin was already in the room and had already snapped at him, or at least Timmy while he was nearby, once today for being around her sister. He didn't really understand what the youngest councilor had against them. They'd never actually hurt anyone, much less Michi. Even the flu incident wasn't their fault. Sure it came immediately after the one time they'd shared food with her, but he'd eaten the same food and hadn't gotten sick. It was far more likely she'd gotten bitten by one f the bugs in the forest or something. Sighing quietly to himself, Shikaku abandoned that line of thinking. Rin was overprotective and that wasn't likely to change soon, so it was best to just keep his distance. Instead, he turned his attention to the room at large, watching the people and trying to discern what the purpose of the pillows rather than desks was. The only other times they'd used pillows was when Luo had set them down for a lecture rather than physical training. Luo was present, but that was an oddity in itself, as he didn't think he'd ever seen the man inside this building before. ✦ Chakra: [17/17] ✦ Kunai: [2] ✦ Ninja Wire: [20ft] ✦ Razor Wire: [2ft] ✦ Stiletto: [1]

Kensei strolled into the classroom only to notice all of the desks have been replaced by pillows. He slowly raised his left eyebrow for he saw the three council members, Rin's younger sister stomping around and singing, and Shikaku sitting in the corner of the room like usual. Kensei proceeded to walk towards the back and plop on top of one of the pillows. "Sup Slips" Kensei said addressing Shikaku. He had a strange habit of giving people nicknames by their habits, personality, or by whatever the person was wearing.
"So you think its another lecture or something? Or maybe Bubbles is right and its a pillow fight. That'll actually be fun to do. Maybe you'll be good at this." Kensei teased as he gently elbowed Shikaku in the arm.

Alise slowly reached the academy, she had no idea what she was doing there, she was tired enough as it was, taking lessons was probably out of the question for her, unless she was forced into it by being threatened to learn something or do something in general, she would try to protest, but she knew that in the end, she would have no choice. She saw Michi, Shikaku, some random guy she didn’t know, and then two people that Michi seemed to be addressing, something about a pillow fight? What was this girl’s head made out of, first she promised food and never delivered and now she goes to the academy to do a pillow fight? Is her brain made out of marshmallows? This place was strange and she did not like it one bit, but, she already signed a paper that stated that if she did something against the place, she could be executed, or worse, have her mind be erased and put with memories that the council of the village deemed worthy.

Luo Ushio๑Ushio Clanxxxx XXX⊗Weapon Masterxxxx▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁ ๑๑๑๑ Chuckling a bit as Segare responded to the thought of teaching the lesson again, he shrugged slightly as he mentioned something about taking the kids on his morning walks. This, made Luo outright laugh for the first time in weeks, his shoulders heaving as he grabbed his stomach. After a second, he calmed down a bit stifling a few more chuckles as he said in a brighter tone than usual, "I don't think that's such a good idea." Apparently, Segare thought that those morning walks held only the intention of meditation, something that certainly occurred in that time, but was not the sole focus of the trip. Luo didn't like to practice in the training fields behind the academy, not much anyway. Teaching the children as well as some of the older shinobi who were willing to learn new things was just about the only reason Luo was ever there. When he was practicing there, ninjutsu was never used, and he seemed to focus on projectiles and light taijutsu and acrobatics. Knowing the land by memory at this point, it was easy for Luo to slip into the forest and disappear for some practice.
It was then that Luo heard Rin's voice behind him after he'd seemed to settle back to himself, turning and giving the younger council member a two-fingered salute and a smile. Seemingly on cue, Michiko entered a few seconds after her sister, as energetic as usual. Asking about a pillow fight and proceeding to shout around the room, Luo sighed to himself as his head lowered a bit and he shook it from side to side. It was hard to get her attention sometimes, however Luo couldn't deny that despite her light-hearted nature she had the makings of a good shinobi. As Segare mentioned the resemblance between the two, Luo held back on smirking, not wanting to entice Rin's sharp tongue, choosing instead to scan the room as he blocked out Michiko.
As his eyes landed on the back of the room, he watched Shikaku slink into the corner and sit in a seat, apparently taking advantage of Michiko running around. After a year of observing the boy from afar, Luo wasn't surprised he came in like that. Shikaku seemed to always be skulking, lurking, slipping in and out. Luo still didn't know if it was because he was timid, or because he didn't like to be noticed. Whatever the reason, Shikaku seemed to constantly practice the art of stealth in his day-to-day activities. Nodding towards him as he heard Segare speaking over Michiko to get her attention, Luo turned towards the door as Kensei entered the room, seemingly perplexed by what was going on. It definitely was odd for Luo to be in the room much less the building, even he figured the kids knew that. Giving the boy a nod as he took a seat next to Shikaku, Luo looked back towards Rin.
"Where've you been all afternoon?" Rin tended to have a habit of sneaking away quite like Luo did in the mornings, however she did it throughout the day. She was always present when she needed to be conveniently enough, however otherwise Luo had just about given up on trying to find her in their down time. Over the course of the year, Rin had remained a bit removed from himself and Segare, something he'd noticed over time. He didn't mind it too much however, she'd always been a bit secretive. So much so, it wasn't rare for the students to ask just what it was she did, or what her skills were. The answers were always vague however, even Luo didn't know much other than her abilities as a genjutsu user, and even that information he'd never bothered to give up. The kids would know soon enough of her own accord.
Before he could get an answer of course, Luo saw a newcomer at the door. He gathered the head of the patrol hadn't gotten word of his and Segare's arrival yet, since usually they were alerted about newcomers the moment the consent forms were signed. Walking over to her, Luo stopped short of her five feet, his eyes scanning her. She looked a bit worse for ware, however nothing a good night's rest and some protein wouldn't fix. "Welcome to our village. Seems you're just in time for class. May I ask your name?"

She stared blankly at the man that stood in front of her, he seemed menacing up close, but he was one of the people that Michi was talking to, this girl with marshmallows for brains couldn’t possibly mingle with someone that could harm her, right? ”M-my name is A-alise Donetsk.” She said plainly, bowing her head. What exactly was this academy place anyway? An academy implied that they were here to learn, was this the place where they were brought to learn new things? So many young people such as herself made her believe so, if so, that was pretty cool, but a little underwhelming, she expected a little more of the oh so famous village. “Who may you be?” She asked, her voice soft and low from fear and hunger. She was nervous that she would mess up and would try to play it as cool as she could until messing up was inevitable.
“What is this class you speak of? And are you going to be teaching us?” She asked, putting emphasis on the you. She opened her eyes wide, realizing the stupid thing she just said. “ I mean, I know what classes are, I mean, what are we going to learn? Who is going to be teaching us?” She asked, getting carried away quickly and blushing a bit in embarrassment. She sighed in frustration, lowering her head. “My name is Starving Donetsk... I mean... ugh” She started all over again but screwed up even worse. Questioning a man what would they be learning was clearly stupid, asking if he had the qualifications to do so was even worse. “I’m sorry, I’m new here; my name is Alise Donetsk and I’m starving.”

Shikaku sighed silently as the slightly younger, but ridiculously tall boy sat down next to him. This sort of thing was why he liked to arrive near the tail end of the group. He wasn't sure why Kensei liked following him around so much. It was honestly rather hard to tell whether he was trying to be friends and had an abrasive personality, or if he was trying to be a bully and was just really bad at it. The weird nicknames that just plain made no sense, poking at his deficiency in various areas of study. It didn't really seem to matter that he was near the top of the class in academics, the fact that he had difficulty in the physical classes still garnered jibes from a lot of the class members. But Kensei was so casual about it that he couldn't tell if it was meant offensively or not. If it was Timmy he'd know it was clowning around, if it was Michi he'd suspect she didn't even know the negative connotations and was genuinely concerned, but Kensei it was hard to tell. Snapping an irritated look in the boy's direction as he nudged him, Shikaku slid his pillow further to the right, widening the gap before sighing again and shaking his head. "It's not. Segare-sensei already said so. Luo-sensei is here, so it's probably something he's better at than Segare." And what that could be, he had no idea. Neither of the two were prone to showing their skills in the village, though Segare seems to like pulling weird stunts every once in awhile, especially during classes. All in all, they seemed fairly equal to him, with Luo merely having a more subdued personality. He knew, as most did, that the two often snuck off into the woods together to spar, but he hadn't yet managed to follow them, though he'd tried several times. Without that extra knowledge though, he couldn't really say what was going on today. Returning to silence, Shikaku went back to observing the room, hoping Kensei would be satisfied with that and leave him be. Soon enough the girl he'd met earlier walked in, and was almost immediately approached by Luo-sensei. And while Segare-sensei didn't move, he too appeared to be watching the new arrival. That was interesting, simply because it implied the council hadn't known about her, which was odd, because the council members seemed to always know everything that happened in the village. His own interest piqued, Shikaku resolved to keep an eye on the girl and find out more. ✦ Chakra: [17/17] ✦ Kunai: [2] ✦ Ninja Wire: [20ft] ✦ Razor Wire: [2ft] ✦ Stiletto: [1]

Michiko halted at the sound of her name and turned to look at Segare. She visibly deflated at Segare's dismissal of the pillow fight. Of course, being Michiko, she didn't have the attention span or knack for solemness to be somber for long. Quickly reinflating, Michiko bounced back up, literally bouncing slightly on the balls of her feet, and agreed to Segare's suggestion with her a smile, a nod, and an overly casual, "That's a promise!". Of course, as she had been dancing around the entire room just before deflating, Michiko wasn't exactly at a normal conversation distance from Segare. In fact, she was all the way at the other side of the room, at the back corner that Shikaku wasn't sitting in. Despite all her movement, the pillows were still generally the same as they were before she had started her prancing. Michiko had taken care to not step on them.
The most important thing, in Michiko's opinion, now settled, Michi flumped down on the nearest cushion. It took her all of five seconds to decide she didn't like her current position and changed to another pillow. Another two seconds and Michi decided that she wanted to be in the dead center of the classroom rather than the middle of the front row. However, that didn't feel right, either, so Michiko stood back up looked around the room once more for her sitting spot.
