I would like to get Wing Mastery. I'm on my third set of wings. I just did a quick cost estimate for crafting Beelzebub's Wings based on MP ABP as of today. I knew it would be a lot, but seeing the total based on prices in the MP was shocking.
Based on ABP on 4/10/14
Formula 1: Demonic Quest Inizio - 373,610,000
Total Cache Cost - 560,907,113
Crafting Cost - 15,162,000
Component Formula Cost - 739,000
Dernier*Cri Item Cost - 7,071,352
Gray Body Dye x1 - 1,188,820,000
Demonfly x10 (153,733,000) - 1,537,330,000
Rubyback Lionfish = (1K Slate x 2,545,150) - 2,545,150,000
Nitemare Sarcophagus x 5 (3,666,800) - 18,334,000
Nitemare Chair x5 (769,695) - 3,848,475

Plus other costs for small items and crafting fails.
I'm going to finish them, but I can't see starting another quest if I'm spending billions more gold than the wings will be worth. I know you can certainly craft them for less and that is what I'm doing, but inflation and competition for components makes it very difficult to cut costs. I wanted to look at the opportunity cost of the components versus the worth of the wings.
I'm worried only Fallen and Angelic may be worth more than the individual items needed to craft the wings. Do you think the other wings have a chance of selling for over 6 billion?

I decided after I'm done crafting my current backwing I'm going to stop. It's just to expensive compared to what the wings are worth. If my deflation project can make the things we need affordable again I may do more wing quest.

Though, the Alchemized version of the wings... there's only a small handful of them. I would think that makes it far more valuable then any other version, as they have the smaller wings in them as well.
I personally just want a pair of large wishish feathery wings. heart

Once I finish my Fallen and Risen quests I won't personally pursue wings for myself again, at least not while everything is so inflated.

I personally just want a pair of large wishish feathery wings. heart I think Gaia will re-release the Inizio formulas again, it is just a matter of time. Yes the alchemized versions are worth more, but since I've kept the two I've crafted I have no idea what someone would pay. I'd love to keep them all, but I don't think that will be possible.

A lot of the value of Alchemized Wings is in the Winged and Wing Mastery Achievements, and in the personal satisfaction of having conquered the challenge of crafting them yourself. I don't think someone who's not into Alchemy would appreciate Alchemized Backwings as much as we do; given the way non-Alchemized Wings get re-released in various ways, the Alchemized ones having all the poses isn't a big enough draw to account for how expensive they are (or at least how expensive they deserve to be given the prices of component items.)

Question: Has alchemized backwings ever been worth the craft to cost?
From what I can remember, ever since I started a little under a year ago, backwings were a luxury.
That said... I still find intangible value to the backwings, so they will always be worth it to me 3nodding

It was a lot of work back when you had to make caches and that was the item in limited supply. Lucifer's Wings cost me just under 500 million to craft. Getting into the billions for Beelzebub's Wings is blowing my mind. My heart says do it, but my brain says no!

I know its based off of the ABP but....it's like 2 bil for the lowest buy it now price XD So that might add a bit more to your total. I haven't been able to find a single person on the exchange who is willing to sell if for less than 1 bil ( & even then that's generous...apparently).
Though I'm sure you know this since you've already made 2 sets XD But yea. Idk...with inflation, i'm assuming that things are going to stay the same really. Deflation would be nice, but eh. I'm not counting on it.
But if you want to go for it then I say do it. It's probably always going to be difficult & not worth the money spent that you'd get back (unless you were able to get some of the necessary items through the long, hard way without purchasing), but hopefully the personal satisfaction is of more value to you :3
Personally...I'm saving to just buy some right now XD I don't know if I'd have the patience to do it, & I can't really afford to but things with real cash, so it's going to take me forever. But one day ;3

to say the truth it's worth it if you want it ...otherwise its not worth the time i do it for my dream avi and alchemy gives 3 diffrent wings now so i took up alchemy..at first prices were cheap but now they are out of control to get my fallen quest's rubyback lion it costs 2billion but im still going to pursue what i started also i got to level as i do this so it costs alot more since im not a level 10 yet

To answer your question in a vendor's point of view.... They're worth much more if they're alchemized than if they're CS.
E.g: A pair of Lucifer's Wings: CS sold in the MP for 14bil recently. That's the CS. version.
However, in the Exchange currently, there's a couple of vendors are offering an Angelic Halo or an equvialent of 20-30b for a pair of Micheal's/Lucifer's Alchemized.
I've been discussing prices with my fellow Alchemist/vendor, Animal,
.. and we can agree on the fact that: some people (who have the gold... lol ) are willing to pay more for Alchemized wings.
Another example of this is.. Israphal's Demonic Wings that she crafted.
(no, I'm not talking about the red/black recolor Israfil's, I'm talking about the user Israphal. rofl
She crafted her Beelzebub's wings a long time BEFORE the mega-inflation... right after the first release of the CS wings & Quest formulas in the CS.
It costed her roughly 750m+ to craft it. (this was when the inflation wasn't so bad, but gold caches were around 7m per... e.e)
She sold it for 1b, which around the time, was un-heard of. 4laugh
Nowadays, depending on type of wings, it'd have a lot of value. rofl

I never realized just how damn valuable the Alchemized wings are. Then again, they're probably the rarest damn items in Gaia existence. Most people aren't willing to pour the effort and time into a site in-order to craft them.
Is that why some people will pay others to craft the wings for them?

I know for my 1st wing and for the 2nd one I'm crafting, cost is nothing to me. But that's because I personally wanted these 2 wings. For the other 4 it will really depend on how much the formula will cost me for if I decide to craft them. I want wing mastery, but I don't want to loose a ton of gold getting it either. I think after my current wings are crafted I'm going to concentrate on operation deflation more for a bit.

Bad times.. bad times... > ~ <;;; (If you wanted to see what happened, a lot of the older alchemists here knows what happened. 3nodding OR, you can jump to my mule's profile, Forgotten Benedight, and read in the "All about me") But, yes, they're pretty much the rarest thing on this site, aside from the Medals (Bronze, Silver, and Gold). xd As for your other question in crafting.......
