 Smooth Swing loved trying new things. As young foals, that was often what he and his siblings spent most of their time doing, trying to find their own special talents. Within his family, Swinger knew at the very least that his two sisters wanted to be singers like their mother and one of his brothers wanted to play professional baseball like their father. Still, what was the fun in focusing on one thing and one thing only until you were absolutely certain what your purpose in life was?
Each of his sisters - Star and Diamond - could have been different types of singers, for example. Moon Rhythm, too, especially since he was a colt and likely to have a deeper voice range. And perhaps Sandlot Bambino would come to play a different position on a baseball team than his father. Who knew?
But Swinger was different. Due to his passion of supporting, encouraging, and helping his siblings practice their favored pastimes, the white pegasus colt knew a bit of everything. It wasn't as though he was skilled at them, but at least he knew how they worked well enough and could perform them to the extent that he needed to when demonstrating them to his brothers and sisters. He wouldn't have dreamed of besting said siblings at any such skills, limited as his knowledge was, but he was perfectly happy with the way things were. To have had to compete against them or try to perform with the pressure of an audience watching would have simply made him uneasy.
As a jack-of-all-trades but a master of none, though, the white pegasus was pretty self-confident in the variety of his abilities. He liked to think he was satisfactory at them if not an expert and was always up for expanding his repertoire. That was why he chose that day to go out into Phonyland and see what other foals his age were up to; maybe join them in whatever activities they were taking part in.Kuuro Kitten ((Let me know if there's anything I need to change!))

One such foal had only just popped from his blister pack and was already getting into trouble. Flying down a lone hill in a buggy he had made from scrapes of wood, baubles and various trinkets he had salvaged around town, Double Dare squealed with delighted glee as he skirted past errant phonies who sought to get in his way. "Watch it! I'm drivin' here!" He called with a shake of his hooves in the air. Turning back to watch where he was moving, he would lean the buggy right or left to get it to maneuver about but this wasn't very practical. While he sped through the streets he figured he'd need something to help him steer the buggy properly. Also pushing it down a hill seemed to be the only way to get the thing to move as fast as it did. He would have to find a way to get it to move on its own with added speed.
Speed was always good, especially since the buggy would top out after it came off the hill. Usually rolling to a safe stop or spilling him out into the street (or bushes if he made it that far). Dare continued to think of many ways the buggy could be improved for his liking: speed, steering, brakes... there could be something else he was missing but he couldn't be sure just yet until he got this thing some place safe to work on it. Looking around he leaned to the left causing the buggy to move left and just miss a white foal who stepped out into his way. Looking back at the foal curiously he wasn't paying attention to what was going on in front of him so the buggy shook wickedly and toppled over spilling his little gray form onto the street. He rolled a few times stopping only with help from a tree's trunk. "Ow!"
Glaring up at the offending tree he rubbed the back of his head making sure a bump wouldn't form there. Once satisfied with his health he gave his buggy a side glance, noting one of the wheels was bent from the impact. "Aww nuts!" Sighing heavily he sat under the tree pouting at his current situation.

Swing's eyes widened as he noticed something coming his way, but his mane was blown in his face and obscured his vision as the blur whizzed past. As he tried to brush it back with a hoof, he was just in time to see a light-colored form drop from the blur and tumble straight into a tree. It wasn't until he heard the shape call out in pain that he realized it was a foal.
"Uh oh!" Hurrying toward the fallen colt, the white pegasus barely spared a glance at what remained of the buggy. "Are you okay? That was crazy! What happened?" he asked in a rush. It hadn't even occurred to Swinger that a phony might have done such a thing for fun.

Rubbing his head once more he winced from the pain but was more upset over his buggy's current condition. At seeing the foal from earlier making his way over, Dare gave him a sheepish smile. "I'm fine." He offered standing fully to stretch himself out. "Aww what a rush! That was totally fun and did you see how fast I was going?" He spoke quickly and excitedly moving around the foal with a look of pure bliss in his eyes. "I mean I messed up my buggy but when I get it fixed up it'll be fast enough to jump a chasm." With a hearty laugh of excitement Dare turned giving the foal a quick once over before his mind finally focused on the fact that this was the phony he had avoided before his crash. "Oh yeah... hey sorry about almost plowin' ya over back there. You should really watch you're surroundings better but then I probably shouldn't be flying down a hill in that thing either. You okay? I didn't hit ya did I?" He asked circling the white foal a few times. "Oh where are my manners, the names Dare! Double Dare! Nice to meet'cha!" He gave a salute of his hoof to his forehead puffing out his chest proudly.

With the way the colt had been yelling at the phonies in his way previously, Swing was astonished that he seemed so nice in his response. Still, he was grateful for the other's assurance that he was okay and began to grin as he listened to an excited torrent of words.
"Are you saying you did that on purpose...?" he asked slowly when the other foal was done speaking. It seemed pretty evident by now what the answer was, but the white pegasus was still having some trouble believing it. The mention of jumping a chasm caused his eyes to widen in shock and slight worry. "Oh, wow; that's...really ambitious. Um...maybe before you try that chasm stunt, you might want to keep a pegasus around? You know - just in case."
Shaking his head, Swing chuckled lightly at the apology/lecture he was given. "Yeah, I'm sorry. I'm usually the one used to flying, but, uh...I...thought I'd walk today. I forget it's not as simple to navigate or get out of the way on hoof," he admitted, embarrassed. "Didn't expect anything that fast to come out of nowhere either. You're really brave." He smiled again. "And thanks for asking, but I'm fine. I was just worried you trying to avoid me had caused you to get hurt. That was quick thinking, though."
"I'm Smooth Swing, but 'Swing' or 'Swinger' works," the white pegasus answered, beaming as he tried not to laugh at the striped foal's salute and proudly-puffed chest. "Nice to meet you too, Dare. I guess your name explains a lot. Sheesh, I don't even want to think what kind of heart attacks you must give your parents. Kitomyx (( I know this is late but I hoped to at least finish it anyway. ))
Dare gave a side ways glace, with a arched brow. "Um... what are parents?" He questioned curiously wondering why so many had asked about such things. It seemed these parents wouldn't like what he was doing if he had them but he just couldn't figure out why not. "I don't think that applies to me. I'm on my own... I do a lot of this but I never had any parents come around to tell me otherwise." He stopped short to think really hard but nothing came to mind. "Are they the older phony that walk around? Are they parents?" He gave a slight shrug in confusion or perhaps to dismiss the situation altogether.
"Even if I had parents I'm sure I'd still be doing what I am. Besides, having a pegasus around isn't really necessary. I'm going to be the first flying Earth phony! I'll figure it out someday and teach every phony how to fly."

"Huh? You don't know what parents are?!" Swing asked, shocked. "Wow…fewer foals have parents than I thought. I guess that explains why you can do things like this, though," he said, gesturing a hoof toward the bent-wheeled buggy. "My mom would probably have a fit if I tried." He looked back up at Double Dare. "Yeah, parents are Old Enough phonies – adults – who look after and take care of you. Usually foals have two. They're a part of a family. They tell you what to do and not do so you'll be safe and worry when you're not."
He felt a little sorry for the striped colt, but noticed Dare himself didn't seem to feel bad. Swing guessed you couldn't really want things you didn't even know about. "But it sounds like you're doing pretty well on your own, especially if doing stunts is your special talent. Parents would probably only get in your way or worry all the time." Suddenly Swing found himself admiring the other foal. How must it have been like to be so independent and be able to look after yourself at such a young age? It was like Double Dare earned the right to do whatever he wanted by being able to survive on his own. It sounded like he didn't even have any siblings to worry about, either.
"Wow…that sounds amazing," the white Pegasus spoke in awe. "What are you going to do next? Fix it and try again?" he asked, gesturing toward the buggy. "Any way I can help?"Kuuro Kitten ((Oh, you're fine! ^_^ I'm always ready and willing to finish rps no matter how old they are. <3))
