Spring was finally here, and Amitorlin was happier for it. Winter never felt right to her - not just the uncomfortable coldness, but the stillness and quietness of it all. There was less color, less birds, less everything. It had been an exceptionally harsh and dry winter, and Amitorlin was hoping the spring showers would come soon. She missed the smells and beauty of the spring wildflowers.

Amitorlin and her companion decided to strike out of the Valley herdlands now that the weather was nicer and see if they could find some spring berries or new growth leaves to bring back to the herd. Everyone was ready for a break from preserved apples and tree bark.

Candy was happy to be exploring some new territory. Ever sense she joined the Valley Herd she didn't travel too much, so this was a great excuse to get out and explore. Maybe she would find more herds to collect and use for her medicine! She needed more practice with her healing anyway.... it was a good thing hardly anyone got hurt in her herd, but it made it hard to practice.

She trotted ahead of Amitorlin into the great open fields. "Look, here are some wildflowers," she called to her, motioning to a few scraggly flowers that were peaking out from around a boulder.

Marconius strode out into the meadow, a dubious look on his face as he looked around. Dry. Everything was still so dry. Marconius was frequently very critical and hard to please, but this dry winter, and the frequent fires had left him in a particularly sour mood.

He hated having to skrimp and scratch, look for water like all of the other simpering, mindless horses. Even the colorful blooms of wildflowers that finally were starting to emerge after the dry cold of the season failed to bring a smile to his face. Marconius, despite the airs he put on, was rather fond of color. It suited him.
There were others out here already. Lovely. Probably looking for water. Or... were those berries over there?

He snorted, lifted his head high, and strode out towards them, heedless of the two mares that might interpose themselves.

A flurry of wings signaled the arrival of another mare onto the scene. This one, however, landed with the exuberance and joy of a full appreciation of the arrival of spring. Flowers, growth, the open plains. Everything sung to the Angeni as a celebration of the life around her and the beauty of the world.

Every day brought new gifts and new experiences. The fires had been devastating, but time marched on, and she could not picture a more glorious scene before her.

She tossed her dark mane and flashed an exuberant smile to the other soquili gathering in the field. "A merry spring to you all!" She virtually crowed.

Sin wanders along, the signs of spring giving him thoughts of moving on again, he had been in one place all winter, unusual for him. Sighing thinking he would have moved on a while ago, but then he had managed to walk into such a surreal situation that he had no idea how to resolve it without making things worse. As it was his eyes wandered over the plants, naming them in his mind as he walks, remembering his fathers lessons. Focused on the flowers and his troubles he was not paying any attention to the others that all seemed set to converge on this one spot.

User Image
Rigel followed along behind Sin, amusement on his lips, his delicate but odd wings folded tightly. He had offered to keep Sin company, after all the herd rule was no one went off alone. But truth told he didn't think Sin was aware of his presence. But unlike his companion he was looking around, surprise flickering in his silver eyes, wondering at the others he can just about make out heading this way. What was this? He wonders, was Sin meeting friends is that why he had headed off alone? His gaze went to Sin again, wondering...

Amitorlin headed over to where Candy was indicating. There hadn't been very many flowers left after the fire, but perhaps now they could start to regrow. She padded over to them and looked down; they looked so cold and delicate; peaking out from the cracked, burned earth, probably suckling on the last drops of moisture that the boulder had shielded from the fires. This meadow looked like it hadn't gotten the worst of it, but it was hard pressed not to see find some scar on the land.

"We should leave them be," she said. They were too small and too sparse to risk plucking. If they took them, there wouldn't be enough to secure a new population in this meadow. They would keep looking for now....

She lifted her head, suddenly realizing they weren't alone in the meadow anymore. She was very shy, and she felt her ears press back on her head.

Candy couldn't help but pout a bit. She knew Amitorlin was probably right, but she was so hungry for something other than dried grass and bark. She sighed and followed Ami's eyes up to the other Soquili that were coming upon them.

Unlike her companion, Candy was the complete opposite of shy. She reared up happily on her back legs for a moment and tossed her long braid over her shoulder. "Hi!" she called cheerily.

Wow, so many! She looked at them all with enthusiasm - there was a blue and orange Flutter, and an Angeni, and an earthy looking handsome stallion, and a fascinating looking green stallion with blue hair and...something was different about his wings - he had them at his side so she couldn't be sure, but her curiosity was piqued.

She trotted forward to meet them all, looking between them. "Hi! I'm Candy, " she said, with a friendly smile; seeming to give no regard that anyone of them could be dangerous.

Deliberately, Marconius walked over to the berry bush and carefully plucked a few of the juicy, sweet dewberries with his lips, chewing them thoughtfully as he glanced around at the suddenly crowded meadow.

"Quite the assortment," He murmured aloud, "I can't say that I've seen this many wandering out into the open in months. I do suppose the fires did stir things up." He continued casually with only a ghost of a smile.

His eyes went to the mares, particularly the colorful kirin who wasn't making quite so much the fool of herself. The Angeni... he was never quite sure how to act around them, and as much as he detested to admit it, even to himself, it always left him feeling a little unsettled. He hoped she kept her distance.

But while he kept his eye on the colorful kirin, he forced a smile to the exuberant unicorn, "Candy...hmmm?" He spoke as one might to a small child. "I am Mahr-cony-us" He said it slowly, with a roll of his tongue, as if she might have difficulty with his name.

Meanwhile, Avalon acessed the situation and the grouping that had gathered in the meadow, her eye drawn to the pair of stallions. One of them seemed mired in his thoughts, and being followed by a rather remarkable looking green and blue stallion who seemed worried.

Avalon tucked her wings to her side and strayed closer to the pair, ears canted forwards, "Greetings," She said respectfully with a small inclination of her head, "I hope that the dawn of spring has found the two of you well. I am Avalon. It is a pleasure to see new faces here."

Something seemed a little off to her about the brown stallion. Like a cloud of worry around him. She tossed her head self-consciously. She refused to let things bother her and tether her to the past. And, perhaps, there was something she could do if there were something troubling him.

Snapped out of his thoughts by someone calling about candy his eyes focused on a brown angeni mare that was in front of him. Surprise showing on his face before it was replaced with confusion. Looking around, noting Rigel who had come up beside him and stopped, quirking a questioning eyebrow at his companion. Looking disgruntled at the other stallions comment and grin before he turned his attention to the mare. Frowning, not realising that it might be taken personally by the mare speaking to them. "Hello, my name is Sin. Didn't mean to intrude.." Giving a small incline of his head, keeping his words as brief as possible.

Ah, so not friends. Rigel smiled, his smile growing as the mare joined them. Managing to swallow his laugh as Sin snaps out of his thoughts, wandering up beside him, looking over at the one called Candy, she seemed exuberant. Grinning at Sin as he looks at him. "You forgot the rules." Shrugging and surpressing a laugh as the reminder got him a glare and the poor angeni mare a frown. Letting Sin introduce himself before chiming in. "Salutations m'lady, I'm Rigel. Don't mind my companion, it is me that has caused the frown." Smiling at the mare but positioned where his wings were as invisible as possible.

Avalon shook her head. "Intrude? Oh no... This meadow does not belong to me. I do not have a territory. I prefer it that way." She smiled. "It is a pleasure to meet the two of you, Sin and Rigiel."

Looking between the two of them, she cocked her head, "Is there some trouble?"

Another figure flitted at the edge of the clearing, blue eyes narrowed as he took in the gathering before him, a wicked grin playing across his face. WHat a lovely little grouping. A lovely groupng indeed. Some little birds and little butterflies flitting about the garden green.

There had been some lovely mayhem earlier. The fires tore through the lands, sending the little ponies scattering for the hills. But all good things seemingly came to an end. Now, once again, everything seemed ooohhh so boring.

Although... his eyes strayed to a particular mushroom growing on the far edge. There were some things there that could prove interesting. Hyde was not afraid of a grouping of soquili. He was used to the hustle and bustle - even if HE had tried to get him away from others. Even here... there were plenty of others to play with. Oh yes.

I'll just continue with Avalon here since Marconius is interacting with Kamiki's soquili. And bring in someone else for fun :3

IGnoring the eyes and questioning expressions, Hyde strode forward confidently from the shade and obscuring branches of the forest and through the open meadow. He wore a cocky, devil-may-care smile on his face as he strode - not around, but through the cluster of soquili, deliberatly driving a shoulder into one of them - he didn't even pay attention to who - as he passed. JOstling, irreverent. Until he was over to the patch of mushrooms. Then, carefully, delicately, he began to pluck them - but definitely not eat them... not yet. He may have disdain for his old life - for HIS life - but sometimes... those memories... that knowledge that he scraped for, it could be useful. He knew what he could do with these mushrooms... the fun and chaos he could create.

Hyde's entrance on the scene did not go unnoticed. His head snapped to attention as the grullo stallion strode out confidently through the field. There was something distincty off about him - crazy seemed to cling to him like a cloud. And Marconius was very aware of just how hand in hand danger went with crazy.

There was no fear, no hesitance in his gait as he headed across the meadows. This would be a little complicated, but Marconius had more of an interest in what the stallion wanted than the insipidly blithe mare.

He shook his made and went to interpose himself between the other stallion as whatever it was that brought something the likes of his out into this sunny meadow.

"It is a pleasant day for a stroll, isn't it?" He asked with a sardonic smile.

Avalon's ears slipped back as she looked over at the new arrival. She saw the crazed look in his eyes just as acutely as Marconius did. She was an angeni, and there was something about the presence of evil that always seemed to set her fur on edge. She was the angeni of freedom, however, and in a strange way, madness was a freedom of sorts - freedom from expectations, from society, and from the shackles of sanity and moral accountability. But even she felt uneasy. Her wings shifted at her sides, ruffling and shaking them as she watched the colorful flutter stallion's interest piqued.

She went to continue her conversation with the other two stallions, but her eyes kept shifting over to the stallion in the hat and the colorful flutter. What were they up to?

Oh ho - someone was stepping in the way - no, not just any way, his way? Speaking to him? Well.... this might be entertaining.
Hyde had never seen this almost comically colorful stallion before. Neither had Jekyll. Neither of them had any beef with him. But that didn't mean he could't be... a bit of a diversion. There was a look in the eye of that one - narrowed and sharp, shrewd. Interesting.

And then.... speaking to him? Hah, this should be fun. Very fun.

Hyde cocked his head to the side and slung one front hoof over hte other as his lips pulled back into a smile that showed just a bit too much tooth, "Cut the bullshit, clown." he growled while maintaining the smile, "You know as well as I do that the style of day doesn't mean a damned difference. Now. Tell me. what do you want?"

"Hm." Marconius's face contorted into a bitter frown. "Now now, there's no reason to be rude." He said with a hiss. His eyes flashed and he took a breath, steadying himself. "I will assure you, sir that I am no clown. While I might be colorful, I am deadly serious. And there is always time for formalities." He looked the stallion up and down, "With that dapper hat, I would have thought perhaps you would have been at least familiar with the concept thereof, but I see that I may have overestimated you."

He eyed the mushrooms that he had interposed himself between, "What is your interest in those? I see a kindle of an idea in those eyes of yours, or am I mistaking mere madness for inspiration?"

Hyde laughed outright. "Rude? Rude?" He closed the distane between the two of them and gave a snarling laugh right in Marconius's face, "Does it look, for just a moment, like a give a damn about what you expect? About what anyone bloody expects? " He canted his head so that his hat fell a bit to one side. "As for my hat. Hunh. It's .... commentary he said with a hissing grin. Social commentary you might say. I might dress like a gentleman. But I am the farthest thing from a gentleman that you would find. But... a wolf in sheep's clothing is a saying for a reason. You can get closer to your prey if you look like them. And a monster can come from any walk of like... pauper or aristocrat. Now you, clown..." He said with a growl in Marconius's twitching face, barely containing his disgust, ".. are you going to stand in my way?"

Avalon shuffled her feathers as she overtly evesdropped on their conversation. The longer she listened, the more uncomfortable she grew with the circumstances. Conflict looked like it might come to a head, and while she wasn't involved, it didn't mean she wanted to be around for it. Avalon did not care to interfere in other peoples' business. It was their business, their freedom to do what they liked. But likewise, she didn't have to stay around to watch what happened.

From what little she could tell, neither "side" was exactly in the right. Both stallions were rearing to exert their dominance.

She took a few more bites of the fresh wildflowers before ruffling her wings and preparing to take off.
