Either:
Make awareness checks to find the Jester (Awareness DC 45)
Grab a hose and try to put out the flames (Strength Training DC 20 10/10)
Ask the villagers if they saw the Jester! (Diplomacy or Intimidate DC 20 10/10)
Ask the villagers about the war (Diplomacy DC 15 10/10)

The guy just looked at Shinzu and said, "Screw you Kanazumi scum." He spat in Shizu's face and screamed, "Ey boys, we got us some Kanazumi backup from Kirigakure, hows 'bout we give them a warm welcome to ours humble town." Five guys with weapons began to approach Shinzu, "Heh, not so scary now is you ninja man?" The men jumped on Shinzu and began their haphazard attack.

Shinzu was quick to react to their haphazard attacks, jumping back from the dagger, and seeming to dance between the rest of their attacks. "You shouldn't have done that!" He said as he returned to the man using the kunai, making as if to punch him. Instead his right hand shot out, grabbing the kunai just below the blade, at the same time he twisted his body, his left hand shooting out to grab the end of the bo staff. Continuing his spin he tried to pull both weapons out of their hands. "I'm giving you one more chance to yield and tell me what Kanazumi is!"

Their weapons torn from their hands, a look of panic flashed on their faces for a brief second, but what followed was an unmistakable look of passion. The original guy pulled out another kunai from his belt, apparently his last one, and the guy that had the bo staff before came in with an attempted punch, but missed by a mile. "We've had it with your games!" Shouted the man with the kama as he ran at Shinzu and scored himself another miss, but just barely. The kunai man followed his attack with another close miss. The katana user said, "Tell your employer that we aren't going to back down, even against ninja!" He attacked with the katana and nearly gave Shinzu a haircut. But with all of these attacks, one was bound to hit, the nodachi user shouted, "We're taking our village back." and swung his nodachi down into Shinzu's shoulder. What was beginning to look like a lost cause began to look rather hopeful to the other villagers as they began to laugh. "Leave now Kanazumi and maybe we won't kill you."

...Wait a minute. Something was very wrong with this scene. So a group of what seemed to probably be mercenary shinobi calling themselves Kanazumi were trying to take over this village by force, and now the villagers were trying to take it back? This definitely sounded fishy. Pushing her way into the middle of the mob, she tried to stop the fight.

"Whoa whoa, ojisan, wait! We're not part of Kanazumi. I'm from Konoha, we're not here to harm anyone! I swear to Kami! she shouted out to them, holding her hands out. Well... senpai might not be, but that little fact could probably be overlooked for now. "I know you probably don't trust us, but at least listen, please! she asked of them, doing her best 'lost little kid' act and trying to stop the conflict. Hey, she was only 7. It worked more often than you would think. "Please tell us what's wrong."

The man that had had the bo staff took another swing at Shinzu and missed. Then he turned to walk to the girl. That was when Shinzu decided to beat up on the guy that had hit him. Bo staff guy look at Shinzu and said, "Ey punk, yous the one that started this, an your friend 'ere 'bout dug you out of it, but nows yous gonna get it." He looked at the others and whistled. They began to attack Shinzu with a strange vigor (read: lucky rolls).
As they attacked Shinzu, the man talked with Sakurayuki, "Wells you see little gal, wheeze justa bunch of farmers and a few mercenaries, an we live 'ere. But these guys called the Kanazumi clan came in and bought out the entire town. Then they started trying to charge us lots and lots of monies to live here and made our friends and family disappear if we didn't pay. Now they hired lots of bad men and lit our village on fire and we are trying to get it back. Your friend over here threatened my friend, so we thought that he was working for them."

Meanwhile the other guys were really doing a number on Shinzu, the man turned around and said, "Whoa whoa boys, ease up. We ain't killers like them, we just needed to teach him a lesson." He looked straight into Shinzu's eyes and said, "You know that its not nice to grab people off of the street and demand information now, don't you Mr. Ninja?"

Shinzu clenched his teeth at the sudden onslaught of attacks, only able to dodge a couple of them, and the ones that did his caused massive damage. He really wished Batsu was here at this point in time. As the Shinobi returned to his feet, he took up a defensive stance, spitting blood onto the ground. "You guys sure are stupid if you thinking asking a question is a threat." He said with a grin, a bloody grin, the chunin never really knew when to properly give up. But still his mind was torn on this one, his pride demanded he keep fighting, while his logic said that these people needed protecting. "Just point us in the direction of the one causing this, and we'll be on our way."
