I will try to keep this short cause wall of text = bad.
Last Thursday a Co-worker and I thought it would be a good idea to pull a harmless prank on someone, The thought was to hang a picture of a girl from the nose up emerging from darkness on the window to his office so he'd get a small surprise and maybe a slight startle when he came in on Friday. To top it off my co worker wrote on it " She's coming for you" with a white marker.
Friday comes and we notice around lunch time that the picture is gone and there's no word about who put it up, no mail from him asking who did it or anything so we figure someone else must've seen it after we hung it up and removed. Friday night we're downtown at a bar with other people from work and that's where we learn that he's gotten angry about it. But we also learn that he's gotten the IT divison in India to scan the work computer of one person he suspect and he's apparantly even filed a police report on it. I'm not even joking, My own boss told me this at the party. So on Monday my co-worker and I are going to discuss with my boss what to say and do and then we're gonna have to go in there and tell him it was intended as a small harmless bad prank and not the personal attack I'm assuming he must've taken it as.
What worries me though is that this might mean I loose my job cause I printed out the picture and since he's pretty much gone from 0 to 50 on the overreaction scale as far as I'm concerned.
Moral of the story : Don't do pranks at work...apparantly.

Oh my god, Ali rofl I am worried though.. but I hope all is well when you guys tell him.. Buuuut I would have to say, the earlier you tell him, the less mad your boss might be ? If he's really upset, you don't want him looking over his shoulder all weekend lol

Hopefully we'll just get a stern warning to not do it again.

Update.
So we spoke to our boss and then the head of security whom handles things of a volitile nature including claims of being threatened. We presented our case and that it was only intended as a joke aswell as when it happened, when the picture was printed out and who did what. We understood from his view that to him it sounded like a unfortunate situation but the case will have to go through two other groups for review of the facts before they'd come at a verdict.
That said, regardless of the verdict he can, under the law, file charges against us if he desires and if a court agree with him that it was a threat rather then a joke then we can both get between 3 to 6 month in jail.
So yeah.

Update and likely the last one.
So we've had meetings today where we've been essentially set to defend ourselves towards him and someone from Human Resources Department, and being the guy that I am I managed to get a Union leader in along with not only me but also my co-worker as an addition to our defense.
And so we presented the facts again to the "offended". Let's just say I am very good at talking under pressure, it's a strength for better or worse.
Most likely outcome will be that we get a oral warning that we'll disagree with and a slight waggle of the finger by the company, as far as the police report..He can file it but they'll likely just laugh at him.
Short story short, likely just gonna get a slap on the wrist and a mental note to stay the ******** away from him.

To be honest I wasn't worried that I wouldn't be able to work things out, was more worried about him demanding me to be fired over a picture and that somehow someone higher up would listen.
Also Kero, don't tempt me. lol
