Now, some of these critters exist in specified spaces, world locked if you will, but can easily be interacted with by most anyone. But, for the sake of creating spaces for them to exist, here's a comprehensive list of those that it's an important part of their narrative.
Modern Day: Youkai For the sake of some sort of uniformity among my Youkai critters, they will all fall under the world design from Nurarihyon no Mago, and in turn be allied under the Nura Clan. They'll be able to interact with any other similar modern day setting, and any past Japanese styled settings.

Info►Baku is particularly laid back, not sedate, but not one to be over concerned with things. Unlike many Youkai who are considered to be banes, Baku is readily welcomed into the household to eat nightmares and leave sweet dreams in their wake. Nightmares from children are his favorite meals and he cares deeply for those he encounters, being a very minor deity of protection.
Born from bits and pieces of dreams, Baku has existed since human dreaming began. He's old, but eternally youthful from his feedings, and although he appears lazy he's actually quite vivacious when happy or need be.
He currently serves as a senior member, an advisor of sorts, to the Nura Clan of Edo, and has followed them since nearly their inception. Although he’s almost a natural enemy to the generation of clan heads, his demeanor prevents him from making a snack out of them. He’s also often asked why his brother, Kinenshishi didn’t take his position within the clan hierarchy. Baku simply laughs it off as Shishi would never feel fulfilled if he didn’t have his prayer tree to attend.

Info►As a kit, Caderyn though he was the s**t. A cocky self-assured little prince that into adolescence didn't realize how his behavior effected those around him. He treated his female suitors callously, often blowing them off in favor of pursuing fist or sword fights. Only after he's been beaten and bruised by countless hands did he have a revelation that his behavior was sub par at best, especially for someone in his position. Upon that notion, his brazen personality turned inward and his countenance became soft spoken, respectful and even comically reserved. Instead of going headlong into a fight, he chooses words over fists and prefers a good chuckle instead of trash talking. To those he treated badly, he apologizes and if he can offers up some sort of reparations in atonement. He's yet to return to his kingdom due to this, the prodigal son he is, and will likely stay away for years to come. He doesn't feel his title is rightfully his any longer.

Info►The eldest and considerably most energetic of the litter, Krokos took to the culinary life early with enthusiastic vigor…that may or may not have ended in a number of failed dishes and disastrous messes before any sort of success. But that was as a tiny kit! With a little bit of age came a forever love for herbs and spices, his favorite being the sunny brightness of saffron, and the beginnings of a garden. He tends and nurtures each herb variety with the same care and dedication he extends towards his parents and littermates, but with family he may be too doting at times to the point of irritation.
In all honesty, he has a tendency to be too excited at times yet has no trouble staying on task or helping with whatever may need doing, and wants to spend time others. However, when he’s engrossed in his garden that outbound energy tones down into a pleasant calm and quiet that Krokos rarely every exhibits elsewhere. Be warned though, messing with his carefully tended rows has led to a few loud spats with his siblings and others, but he never holds a grudge and just asks that they pay attention instead of tromping on his seedlings.
