Welcome to the SDRP Valentine's Day 2014 Event!Happy Couple's Day! Or Love Day! Or Single Awareness Day! What have you! It's a strange time of year. A mysterious force has taken over the school and blessed us with a city to surround it. Students and teachers and random folk alike are falling in love with each other. Where two people yesterday had no connections with one another whatsoever, today they only have eyes for each other, regardless of whether these eyes are spinning from love or glaring daggers. We welcome you to come witness the cycles of love and all the stages of heartache in this fantastical tale! We just can't guarantee that you won't become an actor yourself! Event Threads

emotion_bigheart SDRP Vday 2014 Walk-in RP emotion_bigheart Story: The SDRP Academy takes place at the crossroads of dimensions and its halls welcome all manner of students. Strange things happen in this world, but this one takes the cake. What's going on? Well, people are falling in love with each other at first sight -- and while this may work out well in movies and romantic novels, it can be quite the rollercoaster ride in life!
What is to blame for this? The school staff that have not yet fallen victim to this calamity are already hard at work trying to find the root of this problem and reverse the situation before it turns into a disaster. Others, in the meantime, have taken the opportunity to watch and bask in the events of this "holiday" as they unfold, some awarding prizes to those victims... er, couples, that warm their hearts.
How's this to turn out? No one knows! The only thing that one can do is sit back and enjoy the show!
Logistics: This is a casual, walk-in style RP so there is no character approval process but we do ask that you sign the Guestbook with your character's profile so we can keep track of everyone.
As per any walk-in RP, you may simply come in and out of this RP as you'd like and let your character stay single. But really, what's the fun in that? biggrin
This is a chance to let everyone get to know each other by randomly pairing players together to roleplay. All you have to do is let us know that you'd like to be paired up by roleplaying your character approaching the Registration and Awards Booth located in the school's cafeteria and signing up to be paired. Benefits to being paired up include eligibility for more prizes and a deeper roleplay experience!
Prizes: To be eligible for a prize, you must nominate yourself by paying a visit to the Registration and Awards booth in the school cafeteria. You must also have signed the guestbook with your character profile and add a link to the post where you visited the booth to your profile post.

Setting: Just some quick prompts for certain locations in the school. Feel free to exercise some artistic freedom or to add more locations if necessary!
Cafeteria: hot cocoa is free but you'll have to pay for the cookies, chocolates, lattes, cakes and other delights! Did we mention that the lunch lady doesn't accept cash? The Registration & Awards desk is also located in the cafeteria, for everyone interested in signing up to be paired or would like to nominate themselves for a prize. Auditorium: pink, red, and white streamers adorned with hearts hang from the ceiling. A giant banner with the words "Happy Valentine's Day" stretches across the ceiling above the stage. Equipment for the projector has been set up but nothing is currently playing on it. Library: not as dusty now thanks to the efforts of Scott and Troy. The only thing left to do is to put the many stacks of unorganized books back into their proper places. Quad: an open area surrounded on three sides by campus buildings. A campfire has been set up in the center, perfect for warming hands, roasting marshmallows, melting chocolate, and making s'mores. Gymnasium: There are several indoor gymnasiums at the Academy, all located in one region of the school. Separate gyms are for different things: some are equipped with weights and other fitness equipment, while others are spacious and have two basketball hoops hanging at opposite ends of the room, and with the proper set up can be geared for volleyball, badminton, tennis, etc. Music Room: The music rooms are located in a separate wing. The Academy has equipment for bands and orchestras alike. The rooms and equipment seem to come and go as people need them. Sometimes, the faint sounds of a piano can be heard down the hall, even when no one can be found at the piano.

Rules/Guidelines:Follow the Gaia ToS and the guild rules. Time skip if it gets hot and heavy, and no taking it to PMs. Keep it PG-13! No curb on swearing but don't go overboard. No godmodding, no autohitting. Please respect everyone. At least size ten font, please. Some of us have bad eyes. No bright colors. Again, bad eyes. Try your best to write literately. If you make a post and no one's character has approached you, try approaching them. The SDRP crew have the final say in this RP. More rules may be added but they will be announced.

The halls were still quiet and mostly empty save the vague shuffling of the shadow-like Lurkers that seemed to make up the majority of the Academy's population but there were new decorations strewn about the Auditorium and the Cafeteria always had some life to it, even if it was just the eccentric lunch lady yelling at her pots. Outside, winter had the landscape bathed in fresh snow but the campus' tall buildings and trees kept most of the wind from the Quad, allowing a few patches of bright winter grass and thick hedges of blood red roses to lend color to the otherwise whitewashed landscape. The Gyms had been largely forsaken in the colder weather but the Music Room echoed with the haunting notes of some romantic piano sonata coming from one of the less used concert halls, still dark and dusty from disuse despite recent renovations. It was looking to be just another day as unsuspecting inhabitants milled about their usual activities. But it wouldn't stay that way for long. Little did they know, something extraordinary was brewing. ~((This RP is now OPEN))~

A crackle snapped in the Auditorium with tiny sparks of light then an explosion of. . . glitter? A tall woman in a heavy cloak poofed into being from the epicenter of the commotion then dropped a rather large, writhing sack on the floor at her feet with a huff.
"I've got that nymph you wanted" she half shouted at no one in particular then blinked at her surroundings and arched a brow, tilting her head to get a good look at the place. "Hmmm. . . I must have been gone longer than I thought," she drawled curiously then flicked out a battered old pocket-watch from one of the many pockets on the snug fleece vest she wore under the cloak. "Oh. Well, I was only off by a year," she shrugged, tucking the watch away then hefting the bag over her shoulder again and started for the big double doors at the back.

Adelaide roamed around the school. She quickly found a sign that stated " library. " A smile formed onto her pink lips as the library was her favorite place in the world. It was the one place where she wouldn't be judged for what she is. She timidly opened the doors to the library. As she was accustomed to the dark, she flicked but one set of lights on. She noticed the books being unorganized. She started sorting through the books...putting fiction with fiction by their genre and non-fiction in order by the dewey decimal system and the subject of the book.

Duo pushed through the big double doors to the auditorium, only to bump right into a girl, almost as tall as he. He took a step back out of shock, not because of force. "Sorry Madam." He said, noticing a moving sack behind the woman. He didn't say anything about it, unsure if it was, well, normal in a place like this.

Adelaide continued on her book quest. She picked up the next book. It looked fairly old. She closed her eyes and sniffed the book. She didn't care what anyone said..books had a smell and her heightened senses loved the smell of books especially older books. Her father had century old books that she would casually leaf through in his library. Her father had always laughed because she smelled the book before opening it.

Talia opened and closed her fist as she leaned against a wall. A wispy ball of flame sprung to life and was quickly extinguished by the motion, gleaning a few nervous stares from the lurkers walking past her. In all honesty, Talia was just bored. She blew the flame out and stretched before walking off down the hall.
I just need something different today, the half-elf thought. Something that I don't usually do.
Talia wandered aimlessly for a few minutes, eventually ending up in the cafeteria. For some reason, she always ended up in the cafeteria when she wandered, probably some weird instinct to find food. She laughed as she noticed the Awards and Registration Booth. Well, I wanted something different... Talia approached the booth, and wrote her name on the sign up sheet.

Umbraja did stumble back out of force, nearly tumbling over from the combination of the forward push and the weight hanging on her back. She managed to keep her feet though, this time at least, and huffed a little laugh for that fact before grinning up at whatever had bumped into her. She blinked on seeing a new face but then that was all too common around here even without having been gone all year. "No worries, kid. Didn't hurt," she brushed off the apology easily and shifted the bag on her shoulder to hold out a hand. "Umbraja," she introduced herself simply. "You don't happen to know where the Groundskeeper got off to do ya? He asked me to bring him back some spoils and, well, she's getting a mite restless." The strange woman shrugged a shoulder to jostle the bag at the last and as if to demonstrate the statement the bag's contents gave an awful snarl, flailing wildly. Unfortunately the Groundskeeper had mysteriously disappeared several months ago, which explained the somewhat disused state of the campus.

Sitting at the desk was a slightly haggard looking man, leaned back in his chair with his feet propped on the desk in front of him, his head lulled back and lightly snoring. If not for the snores one might have worried about his condition. He made no response to the woman walking up but when she scribbled her name on the parchment scroll under his sneakers he woke with a little gasp and jerked his feet off the table. It took him a few sputters and blinks to really wake up before he managed a tight smile and slightly drawn, "Welcome~ Miss. . ." he trailed off a bit to glance at the paper and read the name she'd written, the only one there so far. "Am-ur-awd-eh?" he absolutely butchered it.

Duo reached out and shook her hand, a little more forcefully than intended. "Duo-87. Uh, Duo." He said, releasing the woman's hand. When asked about the groundskeeper, the code in his left eye shifted a bit. "Uh... I haven't seen him." He said, not sure how to explain that said groundskeeper had been missing for a while. He wondered how she could have known him, yet also not known that he had been missing... maybe taken a long trip? "Um, just out of curiosity, what's the bag?"

"Oh. . . quite a grip you got there," Umbraja huffed a slightly pained laugh and shook out her hand once Duo had released it but she was still smiling even as she tilted her head to look him over. "Knew a Duo once. Though he was much shorter and a bit of a cocky ponce," she shrugged with a grin then laughed at the question. "Oh this?" she shifted the bag again to get another flailing snarl. "Just a bit of a forest spirit. None too sure what he wanted with one but then I find it's best not to ask most of the time. Long as the check clears," she tossed a wink then stepped around him to continue out the door but paused after a few steps to glance over her shoulder at him. "You look like a big strong man," she purred with a coy grin then held out the bag to him. "Mind givin' a lady a hand?"

Duo searched his 'memory' for a moment for the word ponce. "I assure you that I resemble said individual in no way." He said, with a casual shrug. The bag was now making strange growling noises and kicking around. "Yeah, I suppose so." He said, when she mentioned the 'check clearing.' He moved out of the doorway as she aimed to leave, and was about to find something else to do himself before being addressed again. "Uh... I guess I am." Duo said, in response to being called strong. He was unsure of why he was being issued a compliment, but his curiosity quickly vanished as she held out the bag to him. "Certainly." He said, grabbing the bag and tossing it over his shoulder like it was nothing. The bag let out a small squeal as he balanced it between his hand and head. "Uh, where are we gonna put it, exactly?" He asked curiously.
