Kokutan Hoshigaki
[24/24 Chakra]
[3/8 hits]

Kokutan drifted in the water, contemplating life as he searched for his sword Ago. After blowing up a pirate ship, he realized his sword had been on board at the time and had been lost to the ocean. Well, never really lost. For some reason, that sword always found its way back into his hands. He was currently following the current that led away from the wreckage. He figured someone would have come across it, for it didn’t sink to the bottom of the wreck so he could only assume it had been carried off somewhere. The village had ordered the genin to collect resources to recover from the recent chaos. The bounty of the sea had always been generous to him, so he figured this was a good way to go.

As the current began to shift his senses lit up at the presence of blood. His filed teeth formed a grin as he broke away and began to swim toward the source. His eyes rose above the water line, treading water as performed some recon. From the looks of things, it was a den of pirate shanties being used as a small base of operations. As he neared, he heard a voice speaking from one of the ships above him. “Lil’ scum ‘as been holdin’ aut on ‘is mates, has he?” Kokutan dove under the water and weaved in and out of the docked ships to inconspicuously place himself closer to the voice. “A blade lyke ‘dis wone shu’d be with ‘are superior, savy gents?” A body splashed down into the water next to the genin, joining the one that had drawn the shark to the cove. Kokutan swam around and scaled the side of the ship to survey the situation. As he laid eyes on the speaker the upper corner lip instinctively lifted with disgust. He saw Ago being held by some fat lout of a punk lecturing his apparent underlings. “I been put in charge of ‘dis here ship, and I won’t have any mutiny aboard my ship. You find some’tin of value, you best be bringing it to me mates.” Even with his large frame, it was obvious the pirate was struggling to carry the sword properly despite using two hands. How dare such trash touch his blade. Even Ago’s face looked less happy than usual, which surprised Kokutan.

The pirate turned his back on the crew and put a foot on the railing, beginning some dramatic monologue about how the ship was trusted to him for his greatness and how the seas would be theirs. Tsk. Kokutan was about to make sure they belonged to the sea in a moment. He silently climbed over the railing and slowly moved his way below deck, treading ever so quietly as the b*****d ranted. “Booty! So much booty!” The voice became muffled as he tried to find his way to the cargo bay. He moved slowly, not wanting to alert any crew that may have escaped the would-be captain’s demonstration. His plan was solid. Blow up yet another pirate ship, use his clan jutsu to turn them into chum, collect sword, profit. Sounded like a good plan to him. He just needed one good explosive tag where they stored their powder. As he turned into the cargo hold, he saw two genin whispering to each other. As he saw the shocked look on the face on the lanky pirate facing him, he tiger pounced across the room in an attempt to surprise his companion. The shocked looked must have been enough, because the other pirate spun around and rammed his body with a solid tackle. Kokutan grunted as he absorbed the brunt of the force. Grappling with the pirate, he bit into the side of her face, leaving a row of serrated teeth along her cheek and jaw. Going into shock, the pirate pulled back and pawed at her face. Kokutan followed up with an uppercut to her exposed chin, knocking her out. As the body stumbled, Kokutan tried to keep the momentum going by shifting his weight to the side and throwing a pick-axe elbow at the lanky pirate. His blow came short and the pirate countered with a knee to his stomach. The wind was pushed out of the shark-faced ninja. Enraged, he pushed off the ground with his feet and tiger pounced into his body, slamming the poor pirate against the hull of the ship. Snaking his arms around his opponents back, he began to give him a crushing hug, lifting the lanky frame off of the ground and squeezing until he heard an audible crack in the spine. “ I can’t hate a player for getting his mack on, but you can’t just go interrupting a three-point plan like that”.

He dropped the body and turned only meet a water bullet slamming into his face, knocking his body to the ground. The small confines of the cargo hold didn’t give him room to get to his feet fast enough as he laid eyes on the chuunin who had ambushed him. From what he knew about pirates, the scar across his left eye definitely held the pattern of a first mate. Great. Kokutan threw kunai in an attempt to interrupt the hand seals but it didn’t slow him down as he unleashed another bullet that knocked the kunai out of the way and kept barreling down at him. Kokutan rolled away as wood splintered around the point of impact. The first mate drew his kunai as Kokutan hopped back onto his feet. The two charged at each other, locking in a flurry of blows as they danced amongst the cannons and and cargo. Every time Kokutan found countered, the salty pirate would counter his counter, which Kokutan countered. A flurry of limbs blocks, parries, and riposte exploded as neither could get a definitive blow on the other. Twice Kokutan had almost landed a solid blow only to be foiled at the last moment. His feints weren’t working, and so he decided to trade blows. His teachers had commented on how he should use his incredible strength to his advantage, ranking the power behind his hits as good as weaker Jounin. Using the reach of his 6’3” frame, he suddenly dropped his center of gravity and spun around, swinging back a dangerous elbow strait into the pirate’s solar plexus. The first mate had begun to swing his kunai down to bury it into Kokutan’s skull when he was sent sprawling to the floor. Kokutan tried to follow it up with a body slam to try and bring the fight to a grapple, but the first mate wasn’t a push over. Still clutching his stomach, he flung his feet over his head and rolled backwards to safety as Kokutan slammed into the floor. The genin tried to tiger pounce onto the chuunin again but the pirate knocked over a bunch of cargo to impede the attack while he limped away. “No one has time for your punk a** to be running away. Three. Point. Plan.” The shinobi gave chase down the corridor in his wing chun stance.

As he caught up to the fleeing pirate, smoke bombs suddenly exploded around them. The pirate spun around and lunged forward with a kunai in hand, taking Kokutan by surprise. Kokutan rolled back dodging the kunai. As he began his counter, he realized that the kunai had been an illusion as a kick broke through the pirate in front of him, revealing the real chuunin . As fast as he could muster, he redirected the inertia of his body and head-butted the chuunin with the full brunt of his mass as he simultaneously was stomped in the groin. The two collapsed on top of each other falling to the hard wood of the floor.

Kokutan Hoshigaki
[20/24 Chakra]
[6/8 hits]

As Kokutan staggered to his feet, he cursed the stubborn b*****d to the end. He contemplated killing him while the pirate laid there unconscious, but he had some respect for his determination. “Now that’s some proper hustle.” As he made his way back into the cargo hold, the grate opened and the fat captain began calling out orders. Apparently the smoke had been enough to alarm them to his presence “We got a stow-away, boys!” Four Genin dropped down into the grate and surrounded him. “Flush the Cretan out, lest you take his place”. Kokutan turned in a small circle, staring each of them in the eye as he lowered into a centered stance. “OOOhhhh. You think you’re gonna just ambush a ninja and everything is going to come out o” his sentence was cut short as one of the genin behind him lashed out with a belaying pin, smashing it across his back. Kokutan staggered and lashed out with a back kick that met air as he was smacked against the ribs, leaving a gash from the impact. The air took a taste of raspberries as Kokutan released a vicious yell. The third gennin took a swing from behind Kokutan and instantly regretted it. The Atlantean caught the pirate’s wrist and lifted him over his head, throwing him straight out of the hold and onto the deck where he landed with a crash. The other three rushed to detain him as he took viscous swings, narrowly braining two of them in the process. Finally getting a hold of one of them, he twisted him hard enough to make the pirate’s feet come off of the ground as he began to swing him in a circle to fend off the others. When they backed off, he slammed the body into the ground and stomped his foot on the poor soul’s neck, crushing his wind pipe indefinitely.

“Holy hell!” The genin broke rank and scrambled amidst the cargo in an attempt to flee but there were only so many places to go. “FIGHT YE SCALLY WAGS, OR I’LL HAVE YER BLOODY HEADS AS MY BANNER” barked the fat captain. He picked up the genin that had been ejected earlier and tossed him back into the fray. Kokutan caught him out of mid air like a fish into water and slammed him to the ground by the throat. He picked up the belaying pin that had fallen from their grip earlier and smashed him in the face repeatedly until it was a bloody mess. His head turned sharply as his Ampullae of Lorenzini saw the rapid heartbeats crashing into each other as they ran down the corridor he had fought the first-mate in. The Tsuki-gakure nin jumped up in a baseball pose, his muscles bunching up as he let the pin fly. It smashed into the back of a pirate’s head, the body falling lifelessly forward merely on inertia alone. Kokutan sprinted forward into a lunging jump, hands held high over his head as he brought them down into a hammer fist right to the base of the neck. He stood up with a roar and knocked a bunch of cargo over to block the exit back to the cargo hold. Turning with a menacing grin on his face, Kokutan began to walk down the corridor towards the only exit available.

The pirate finally met the shark’s blood-shot eyes and gathered his resolve after realizing it was do or die. “Thought you could swarm up on a ninja, huh? Like a ninja don’t know how to handle himself properly, right?” He shook his hands to dry them of blood, sending little splatters everywhere. “Well, you better go down swinging, because I’ve just burned my end of the bridge, and it looks like you’re in the way of the next best prost-pect.” He put an emphasis on the word as he suddenly made the hand seals for a shark water bullet. The shinobi reacted in kind and launched a fire blast that collided in mid air with his attack. Steam flew up into the air and out of it came the pirate swinging a cutlass. Kokutan used swell as he put his guard up and paid the price as the sword sliced through his bracers and into his flesh. The genin tried to counter with a kick but it met with a parry that came dangerously close to a sword in the gut. As the steam cleared, Kokutan swayed from side to side, challenging the pirate to a game of footwork as he went in for the kill. When the pirate lunged forward, Kokutan twisted his hips with his hands in the air in an improvised wing chun roll as the blade slid past him. He brought both hands down hammer fist style with such strength, it dislocated the pirates shoulders. The genin slumped down to his knees and looked up in a state of shock. “Shh sh shh.” Kokutan knelt down with him and hugged him gently. “ I’ll let you live. Ain’t nobody died from that. Shyyyt, I’m bleedin all over the place and you don’t see me being a lil’ b***h about it.” The pirate just sobbed at the absurdity of it all. The Atlantean ran a hand over the back of his head and shushed him again. “You just stay alive and tell every you meet about a ninja named Kokutan, alright?” “Kokutan?” The genin leaned back and slapped the pirate so hard, the first-mate’s body twitched. “A Ninja Named Kokutan. Say the whole thing.” It was pointless as his victim had been reduced to a sobbing mess. Kokutan just turned his head up and looked down like he wasn’t worth the time. “Shoot, I ain’t even hit you that hard, you gotta cry like a lil girl, makin’ me look like the bad guy. You’ze the pirate. No one told you to be no pirate.”

Kokutan walked over to the first mate and hauled him up on his shoulder. He ascended the stairs that led back to the deck and strutted out with the pirate over his shoulders like a fur coat. His arms and torso were soaked in blood, his hair blew disheveled in the wind, and his smile hinted at nothing but victory. The two men stared at each other over the open cargo grate, sizing each other up. “So listen. You recently came into the possession of something that you ain’t have no business possessing. I’ve taken care of your, uh…. ‘crew’.” He made the air quotations and then hoisted the first mate off of his shoulders and dangled him between them using only one arm. “And I’m willing to trade you this poor soul for something that you can’t even use properly.” The captain narrowed his eyes and buried Ago into the deck, taking a thoughtful pose with his hand on his chin. “Ha. I would sooner have my soul fry in the belly o’ the death god than surrender my booty.” The captain pointed a finger at his former first mate. “Two ah you can go ahead of me, if you be so inclined. Kaze no Yaiba” Wind started to spiral rapidly around his fingers before shooting off directly at them. The little wind blades opened up cuts along both of their entire upper bodies as Kokutan was forced to drop the first mate and brace himself. It was to the end, then.

The shark grinned.

Kokutan Hoshigaki
[1624 Chakra]
[8/8 hits]

Kokutan ran one way around the cargo bay and the captain ran the other way, firing wind bullets and kunai in a hail storm of projectiles. Forced to dodge, dip dive, duck and dodge, Kokutan became incredibly agitated. As if he hadn’t been already. “Why do you keep running? Better question is how you keep it up with all that FAT”. He put his hands up and feigned left and right trying to catch the pirate off guard as he continued his chase. “Don’t be so BLUE boy! I saw watch’a did to me men. I ain’t no fool to be caught in a tussle with the likes of you.” Kokutan’s shoulders drop as he stood erect and cocked his head. “You just call me blue?” He paused and turned as if to listen with his other ear. “I know I didn’t hear you just call me blue”. As Kokutan jumped strait over the cargo bay, the captain crouched down and with a smug look. “Too easy boy. We’ll be making sushi out of you yet. Great breakthrough!” A giant funnel of wind caught the genin and sent him flying toward the sails of the ship. Kokutan’s back slammed into the mast framework of the sails as he was pinned by the ferocious wind.

As the captain continued his jutsu, the ship began to drift toward the sea. It drifted for a time until the anchor began dragging along the floor with nothing to take hold of. As the wind began to die down, Kokutan rolled down the sheet of the sails, planting face first into the ground and laying motionless. The captain strut over and bellowed out a great laugh. “Yerahahahahaha. Boy, you may have thin the ranks but it was all fer naught.” He kicked Kokutan’s body over and instantly regretted it. The shark had been braking his serrated teeth several times over while he was under assault, stockpiling them until his cheeks bulged like a chipmunks. His hand darted to his chest as he molded chakra for lake creation. The captain made a motion to draw for his cutlass, but he was too slow as the calcium shrapnel exploded from Kokutan’s mouth and strait into the fat captains face and eyes. "Yraaaa" the captain stumbled back, giving Kokutan time to get to his feet. Taking the small window of opportunity, Kokutan made a run for Ago. As he grabbed his blade and turned to capitalize on the pirate’s sightlessness, he met a make-shift grenade explosion to the face. Explosive tags wrapped around rocks had gone off close enough to concuss him off of the ship and into the water. Bleeding heavily and cursing for yet again having to run away, Kokutan took to making his escape, unable to finish of the captain and secure the provisions for the village. He would be back though. That fat b*****d better believe it.
