Pele had found a small brook burbling through a sparse wooded area. The quiet gurgle of the water beautiful in the quiet morning air. A few birds were singing to the sun as the last of the morning mist burned away.
Her hooves kept time with the brook as her voice sang answer to the bird song. A wordless melody spiraling to the sky as Pele twisted her body in dance. Today she danced joy and life and beginnings. Her body turns and twists, wings billowing and cupping the air, giving her leaps greater height.
All her life, even when she was in her basket, Pele has embraced the world with song and dance. Honed to that task, she has great stamina and flexibility. But her perception of that which is outside her world, the sounds of nature and the movement of muscle, is virtually non existent.

Regalia on the other hand was not as gifted in the ways of hearing music in much of anything and today even less so. He was on the hunt for inspiration for a new piece and was so far coming up with nothing. To him the brook sounded of irritating noise and the wind was a little more than a distraction. Shaking his head and grinding a hoof into the ground out of frustration his song birds fluttered about him waiting for a new song that simply was not coming. "Go away the lot of you." he growled chewing his lower lip. "I cant concentrate." Most of them obliged but some remained staying a fair distance away. Twittering amongst themselves. Deep in thought regalia marched on through the woods and took a long drink of water. Until over the around of the water he heard hoof beats, but not a normal walking hoof beat something more to a beat he couldn't hear. Lifting his head his ears twitched and eyes darted as he searched for the source.

Pele's voice was soft, almost a whisper of wordless melody. New beginnings were soft and quiet at first. So her song was equally soft. She let it weave the air around her and then get swallowed by the trees.
The sound almost a conversation with the brook, she twists in and out of the rays of sun caught between the branches of nearby trees. Her wings stretch, beat, lift. Her hooves begin to move faster, the quickened heartbeat of birth as her song swells slightly.
Now Pele dances promise, expectation, joy. A twist of her body, a kick of her legs, she pays no attention to anything but the sounds of nature around her. The chattering of a squirrel becomes a counter-beat for a few passes. She is not even straining yet in the movement of her dance. But she can feel the moment coming.

Eventually he tracked the sounds direction despite the trees and various rocks. Quietly he moved toward it, not quite sneaking but just so as not disturb whoever it was. As he approached the build seemed to electrify the air but he still couldn't hear any melody beyond that which the hooves were making. Maybe if that damn squirrel would shut up. He thought. He came upon the source a mare the color of a lava flow who seemed to be dancing. . . Dancing really well actually. If he would have heard whatever she was dancing to maybe he would have better understood her well practiced movements. He watched in silence deciding to wait till she was at a pausing point before interrupting.

Pele let her voice begin to swell, sliding up the scale only to drop back down and climb again. The notes each held for a moment before moving on to the next. Her voice louder, and as it got louder, the time between notes decreased.
Now she started to press her body, twisting as she leaps, her wings cupping to slow her fall back to the ground, one hoof touching first, soft, before the rest join it on the ground for only a moment before another movement of the dance has her kicking and spinning and moving on.
The speed continues to increase, her pulse beating in time with the music and the dance. The dance echoing the pain of birth, the joy of life, the wonder of newness. The sun was nearing it's zenith and Pele wanted her final movement to end with the sun directly overhead.
