She ran back to her home, and scampered up the front steps calling out,
"Ma! Come and see what Ah caught!" Her mother came to the door and opened it to look down at her daughter with trepidation. Sueno always had something messy or noisy when she said that! SHe looked at the fuzzy ball of peeved Uruu in Sueno's hands and sighed.
"No."
Sueno's face fell. "Aw, but Ma..."
"No."
"Pwease?" SHe asked with big soft eyes.
"No. You have Videe, you do not need another bird!"
"But Uruu's can lay eggs!"
"One is not enough!" Then she looked down with a smile. "Though they do make great eating...." She said slyly.
Sueno gasped and hid the Uruu,
"No Ma! No eating 'im!" She pouted at this.
"Why don't ye want me to have pets Ma?" "Because they require more time and effort than you know to take care of them. They need a place to live, feed, care! You, young lady, are not old enough to start raising animals! Videe is a special case since he's old enough to feed himself and cleared the Silx out... that is food. You want to bring it in here? Then we eat it for dinner tonight." She said this in a tone that broke no argument. Sueno sighed and sadly sat down on the steps,petting the Uruu that was gumming her hands to try and force her to let go.
"Aw... But he's so soft... guess Ah gotta let ye go." She sighed and set it down.
It fluffed itself in irritation then darted off into the woods again. Sueno pouted at breakfast and sulked the rest of the day. So she was too young was she? She'd prove them wrong! She began to plot her next move, she was going to be a tamer no matter what!
