Character Name: Enryu Nicknames: N/A Age: 29 Birth Date: 04/19 Gender: Male Hair Color: Black Eye Color: Brown Height: 6'4 Body Type: Clearly athletic Distinguishing Features: Enryu wears a black bandanna over his head that stretches down to cover his right eye. Despite this a deep vertical scar still stretches from his chin into the darkness of the eyepatch. While he isn't blind in that eye it has an increased sensitivity to light and the fabric is able to allow the eye to function somewhat well without rendering him blind. Shapes begin to lose definition 5 meters away from him and are already blurred due to the fabric. Light is tolerable around dusk/evening but his eyesight doesn't improve much.
Should he ever display his bare torso, the typical wounds a mercenary would suffer mar his dusky flesh in pale scars. In particular there is a large bite mark on his left shoulder and a star-shaped scar over his heart. It is clear he has suffered mortal wounds as well as torture, evidenced by whip marks and burnt flesh on his back.
Personality: Enryu is an exceptionally composed and quick-thinking individual with a strong belief in logic and order. While he was always a very loyal and obedient follower, he never took it to the point where his rationale was clouded and has abandoned past contracts should they no longer become profitable or survivable. His methodical and organized method of thinking made him the prime candidate for lieutenant in his mercenary troupe, going on to develop written laws and procedures that significantly enhanced the war bands efficiency.
Enryu can be very assertive and direct, naturally suppressing more timid personalities with his more authoritative one though rarely is this intentional. His upbringing made him apathetic in terms of empathizing with others but as he grew older he became more respectful and chose to remain silent rather than comfort others due to his inability to so. He still remains very blunt however, speaking freely on sensitive topics seemingly without any care for the sentiments of others.
In battle, Enryu is very composed despite being exceptionally fearsome and brutal towards his enemies. As a result of his analytical, he can quickly adjust to any situation to make keen and thought-out decisions, allowing him to stay steps ahead of his opponents. Uninterested in 'playing games' in combat, he shows little hesitation when it comes to using lethal force and has been noted to be a dangerous sparring partner. Despite his increasingly growing reputation and prowess as a ninja, Enryu has shown no signs of arrogance, and is rather modest about his abilities,
Due to the numerous tragedies that surrounded his developmental stages, Enryu grew to disdain the fragility of human life and how it affected those still living as well as develop a morbid fascination with the phenomenon. This has manifested in a manic desire to kill deep within Enryu that urges him to take a life almost monthly. This desire visually manifests itself to Enryu and constantly urges him to take the lives of those around him. It takes a great deal of mental fortitude to restrain this desire but without allowing himself to kill, Enryu suffers from a sort of withdrawal that steadily destabilizes various aspects of his life. This can be seen in the shattering of his stoic attitude and a general difficulty focusing on anything for too long. It is because of this sinister passenger that Enryu kills discretely on a monthly basis, to retain his sanity as well as his status as a normal member of society. Despite his distinct lack of morals, Enryu seems to be well-versed in human psychology and displays insightful wisdom at times.
Enryu has always been very quick-witted despite rarely vocalizing his retorts. From a young age he was displayed great maturity, intelligence, and intuitiveness rarely being caught off guard or deceived. His tenure as Lieutenant in the Grim Company was marked with great foresight and authority but his greatest failing was his difficulty trusting in the strength of others. Enryu had a tendency to always compensate for failure and would often over complicate simple decisions by over thinking the repercussions. Despite his rather stoic, manipulative and yet polite personality with a dark sense of humor, Enryu is inwardly conflicted with major insecurities about himself and his mental afflictions due to both his primal desire to murder and his lack of early social development.

Shikaku is a reader of people, always hyper aware of what people think and how they percieve him. This leads to him being incredibly paranoid as he takes any hint of hostility and expands upon it in his own mind, making it difficult for him to trust anyone. He constantly wears a “Mask” over his actions and emotions, shifting that mask to match any situation he might find himself in to reduce the chances of being noticed, and subsequently, turned against. He values his own safety and secrecy over all else, and will attempt to play any and every situation to his advantage to keep both intact.
Background
Abandoned at birth, Shikaku was found in a basket under a tree in the yard of a small village orphanage with nothing but a worn blanket and a piece of paper stating his name. He was immediately taken in by the orphanage and given a home, raised by the orphanage caretakers. As he grew, the other children in the orphanage began to pick on him for any reason they could find, from his abnormally white hair, to his weak frame, and even just his generally quiet nature. Rather than try and fight back against what soon became outright bullying, Shikaku instead turned inwards, retreating from his problems and trying to simply avoid any contact with other human beings. This however proved to only make this worse however as the bullies took it as him ignoring them, and, as bullies do, increased their assaults. Eventually, at a mere four years of age things reached a breaking point, and Shikaku was severely injured in the bullying.
After a stay in the hospital, rather than putting him back with the other boys, the caretakers decided that it would be best to protect the boy by sending him away, and Shikaku was transferred to an orphanage in a nearby city. Upon arriving, Shikaku attempted to make himself as unnoticed as possible, and as children do, the worst of the new orphanage's inhabitants quickly picked up on the show of weakness, and the cycle of bullying began all over again. This time however, one boy came forward to protect him. The boy, Timmy, who would later become as close to Shikaku as any brother, defended him from the bullies, and managed to convince Shikaku that he needed to take care of himself, rather than hiding away. This wisdom twisted in Shikaku's mind however, and he took to the life of a thief and pickpocket in order to “Care for himself”. He continued his avoidance of most other human contact but with his new brother, and most of the time managed to avoid the bullies even without help, but his habit of stealing whatever he could get his hands on only increased, as the money could be used to buy himself better clothes, food, and even a weapon to help defend himself. This habit only increased over the years, until the day he made the mistake of pickpocketing a chuunin passing through town.

Espionage Training: Espionage specialists are trained in many techniques and jutsu to enhance their abilities, and focus on their use more so than any other shinobi profession. (Able to learn all Espionage Jutsu)
Talent Description: Vanish Shikaku is, and has always been, able to use a slightly altered version of the Vanish jounin rank benefit. Like the benefit, when he chooses to do so, Shikaku is able to vanish entirely from the senses of anyone who cannot already sense him. Meaning that he must first be completely still, unseen, and silent. If the opponent is able to smell him he must also have masked his smell. So long as he remains motionless and does nothing to draw attention to himself, he is impossible to sense, even if the opponent is looking directly at him.
Unlike the rank benefit, there are a few extra limitations on Shikaku's ability to do this. Firstly, his Stealth must be higher than the opponent's Perception. If the opponent's perception is higher than Shikaku's stealth, Vanish has no effect. If however Shikaku's Stealth is of equal rank to the opponent's Perception, Vanish will only work if he is completely hidden. The opponent will not be able to sense him normally, but any extrasensory skills will be able to locate him, and if he is seen normally he will be visible, canceling the effect.
As Shikaku grows older and stronger, so too does his skill at vanishing. At D rank, and every rank beyond that, he gains one increment rank to his stealth while using Vanish, making him able to hide more easily and efficiently from stronger enemies.
Like the rank benefit, Vanish lasts as long as Shikaku remains fully motionless. However, if his stealth is at least double his opponent's perception, he is able to move without canceling the effect, so long as the opponent cannot see his movement.
Talent Sacrifice: Shikaku has no elemental affinities, making him unable to use any elemental ninjutsu.
How it happened: As a child in the orphanage, Shikaku was always picked on, being the smallest and weakest person there. As a coping mechanism, he learned to hide. First hiding himself, sneaking around to evade the notice of the other children. As he grew older, and continued this habit even after the bullying mostly stopped, he grew more skilled in doing so, and began to notice that when he was hiding, people wouldn't notice him even when they were looking straight at him.

Personality
Michiko is a simple, happy child with mischievous tendencies, a tad bit gullible but very much capable of telling a white lie of her own. Despite being of average height and build for her age, the way she moves with a bounce in every step and smiles in awe at the simplest things make her seem even younger than she already is, and just like a child, she gets tired rather easily. Her sister's diligent, almost obsessive watch and protection has kept her an emotionally sheltered child even while traveling aimlessly. Before that, her family's high social status and repute had kept her protected from the harshness of the outside world. As a result, she's a tad bit spoiled mentally and used to getting away with an impulsive act or two, especially when it involves her sister Rin Yamanaka, so she can be a bit thoughtless at times. With her sister, she's not adverse to something like sneaking up and layering her sister with ribbons, stuffed animals, or whatever else comes to mind. With others, it's usually something less disastrous, like spooking them from around the corner or slipping a cold piece of candy down their shirt. Her small antics tend to become particularly numerous on the day of her birthday (and those leading up to and past it). Her favorite phrase is, "Trick or Treat!".
Needless to say, the first impression she tends to leave on people is rather shallow and more likely to leave strangers wondering if she's really Rin's sister. However, her mind isn't all unicorns and pixies; though, it will undoubtedly be fascinated by such wonders if she ever saw them in real life. Behind her doll-loving front, she has a good head on her shoulders. She might not use her smarts as coldly as Rin nor as effectively, but she does possess the potential to plan. After all, even if her sister is willing, no defective mind would be able to layer her willy-nilly with the stuff Michiko thinks to put on Rin, and the difficulty level simply rises when other people are involved. Now, if only Michiko would use it for something productive, unlike the silly stuff she usually dedicates the most important parts of her mind to.
The one thing Michiko can't stand is focusing on one thing for a long period of time. Despite all her energy, she's fallen asleep during dull classes and pulls faces during the most serious meetings. She's loudly voiced her amazement at her sister's ability to attend the boring council meeting with such seriousness more than once. Forcing her to endure anything that attends to one topic for more than five minutes is likely to result in disastrous events. If Michiko can, she will make things more lively to suit her tastes.
Despite everything, though, Michiko can be responsible and is not only surprisingly self-reliant but also astonishingly thoughtful at times, particularly when it involves taking care of her sister Rin. Rin could only shelter her from so much, after all, but what she did manage to protect Michiko has resulted in Michiko's undying trust and admiration for her sister. Being too busy with earning a living for both herself and her sister, she couldn't spoil her sister physically. It was common for the siblings to sleep out in the wilderness. Even when the two found shelter in civilized society, like an inn room, Michiko was often left in the room herself, forbidden to go outside as her sister worked. As a result, she learned from a very young age to take care of herself regardless of her environment. Quickly following that, she learned how to cook, clean, do the laundry, and whatever else that wasn't related to Rin's missions for lack of anything better to do while cooped up in the room. She tried her best to not show her older sister because she knew Rin already had enough to deal with (missions, Michiko's love of layering her with confetti whenever she could), but staying all by herself for such extended periods of time left the younger sister bored, alone, and often resulted in streamers being hung in every possible nook and cranny of the room she currently inhabited.

However, this vice of her's is supported by her knack for picking up new things with amazing proficiency. Background
Growing up on a small farm, Athran never knew anything of true violence. His home was part of a peaceful hamlet, nestled in the shadow of a great mountain. Though he never knew his father, his mother often told him stories of the mysterious figure. He was told that the man was a great warrior, a swordsman of unrivaled skill, and that image stuck with him throughout his childhood. When he was not busy tending the fields he would spend his times honing his body, dreaming of the day he could leave and find someone to teach him to fight.
Just after his sixteenth name-day, Athran and his mother saw smoke rising over the nearby town. Violence had come to their peaceful hamlet. Thinking it was nothing more than an unfortunate accident, Athran rushed to village to help douse the flames, but when he arrived he was faced with a scene drawn from his nightmares. Men wielding spears and blades were running through the village, slaughtering, pillaging and raping. He saw his neighbors lying dead in the street, surrounded by pools of their own blood.
All of his time spent training had not prepared him for this. All of his thoughts of being a warrior fled as his instincts told him to do the only thing he could. Run. And so he fled, tears filling his eyes as he cursed himself for a coward. But there was no time to waste, and he wouldn't see his mother suffer the same fate as the rest of the village.
He and his mother fled, taking only the clothes on their backs and as much food as they could carry. Trekking through the wilderness, they headed south, seeking any refuge they could find. After nearly a week of traveling, weary, hungry, and haunted by what they had gone through, they arrived at the gates to a village they had never heard of. Pounding on the gate, Athran cried out for refuge, but was met with no reply. Just as he was about to give up and begin walking away, the gates were opened, and a man with striking blue eyes revealed himself.
He offered Athran a simple choice. Join the village, and learn to fight for it, or be turned away to fend for himself. Athran could hardly believe what he was hearing, was this what he had been searching for all this time? Without hesitation, Athran took his mother by the hand and led her inside, determined to learn whatever they could teach. Determined to learn to fight, so that the next time he was confronted with violence he would not flee, but defend those who could not.
It's been nearly year since that day, and while his progress has not been as quick as he had hoped, Athran has already seen his labors beginning to bear fruit.

Background Tomoki was orphaned during a terrible storm on the eastern coast of his home country, and taken in by an old master and his pupil, Gadot. Tomoki was treated as a second pupil, and raised by the master. Tomoki's skills quickly surpassed the Gadot's, though lack of knowledge kept the Gadot at a higher level than Tomoki himself was able to reach.
After their master's death, Gadot introduced Tomoki to an old friend and told him they'd follow him to a village where they were gathering strong people to make a village of united clans and fighters. Once they arrived, Gadot attempted to leave before entering the village, but Tomoki convinced him to stay.
